Delicious and authentic Mexican!! The steak tacos were fantastic! Loved the queso and refried beans and my husband’s special dinner was delicious and portions were very filling!

The service was great. Our waitress was extremely kind and accommodating. Price was good for the area. Also topped it off with a traditional Mexican coke! Excellent!

this place has the best sweet tea I have ever drank. my friend got sick because he drank three mugs of sweet tea it was so good. I usually get the lunch special #6 but I've tried different items and they are always delicious. the servers here are very friendly and come by frequently to make sure we are happy and have everything we need.

I’ve eaten in authentic Mexican restaurants all over the state from fancy ones, to gas station ones. This one is hands down my FAVORITE!! The atmosphere is so pleasant and the staff are so kind, friendly, and prompt. The food is so fresh and off the charts DELICIOUS. I decided to make a picture of my chicken fajita quesadilla after I had already started eating. Sorry. But, as you can see, they aren’t skimpy with the size. The plate is full!! It’s stuffed with chicken, cheese, bell pepper, and onion and comes with all the trimmings for only 7$. The prices are as awesome as the food!!! It’s off the beaten path in Alabaster and worth the drive from across town!!! I eat here at least twice a month!!! It’s one of the best restaurants I’ve eaten in. 😋

We visited Rancho Escondido on a Saturday around 2pm and wasn't busy.
Our waitress was nice and helpful, the place was clean and organized.
Our food didn't take long to be served and it was tasty and fresh. We will definitely visit this place again.

One of our favorite places. Food is great. Portions are large. Prices are good, and there is never a wait to be seated even on a busy holiday. Lunch Specials are available 7 days a week from 11-3 pm.

Had great food and great service. We really enjoyed our meal. I had the chimichanga, and my wife had the chicken fajitas. Their massive 48oz. Texas margarita wasn't too bad either. My wife enjoyed their peach margarita.

I ordered off door dash and the next morning i ended up having food poisoning and couldn’t leave the bathroom for 2+ hours. I’ve been in and out of the bathroom all day. I’ve also thrown up. The food wasn’t good enough to make me go through this.

We ordered here on a whim from DoorDash a couple of months ago; it was our first time trying this restaurant. The food was remarkable; flavorful, and appropriate temperature (we ordered hot and cold items.) We ordered again recently; via DoorDash, and different items and the food once again is just as delicious as previously. The owners of our go to Mexican restaurant retired and we have been on the hunt for a new one and this will be it! We also love the Agua Frescas and Mexican Colas! What a lovely discovery!

We took a small group for lunch thanks to a recommendation. The food was fabulous! Everything was really fresh. I love their dark salsa and my pork carnitas were very tender. They offer corn tortillas, which is not what a lot of places do. Our server was very kind and thorough, making sure she understood everything we were ordering. The portions are huge but everyone cleaned their plates. I will definitely go back. If you like Mexican, you'll enjoy this place.

I went in for lunch today with my co-worker and the food and service were excellent! I had the steak fajitas with corn tortillas and queso with chips and salsa. All the food was very tasty and fresh. The waitress checked on us multiple times throughout the meal to make sure everything was good and filled our sweet teas twice as well as giving us a to go tea and boxes for the left overs. I will definitely be going back again. The prices were also very reasonable for lunch and the servicing sizes were large.

When we moved down here, we tried many Mexican restaurants before we tried Escondido Mexicano. It's definitely our place now. Their guacamole is THE best. I was really pleased with the fajitas as the vegetables tasted freshly cooked and crisp. Not mushy like they'd sat in a pot all day like so many other places. They also give you an option for black beans vs. mushy refried beans.

Our new first choice for Mexican food in Alabaster! The cheese dip is perfect and the salsa is nice. A little smoky kick to it. Good solid Mexican fare at still reasonable prices. And give the margs a try!

Food is always nice and hot. I have enjoyed everything I have ordered. Staff is friendly and quick with service. The salsa and nachos they stock the tables with are good too, they aren’t the flimsy chips many places serve, salsa has a nice little bite. Draft is served in a thick-wall frosted mug. Great little place.

I've been here a couple of times with friends and we won't go in the future. They season everything with tons of black pepper--the food is so spicy hot that it's inedible. Even the salsa and cheese dip are loaded with pepper. We tried it a couple of times, hoping the first time was a fluke, but that's clearly how they prepare it and we all thought the food is just awful.

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but it's pretty nice inside & the staff is great.

Every time I've eaten here, the food has been fresh & tastes great

The also have really good margaritas that are at happy hour prices all day on Thursdays.

Definitely recommended. We go at least once a week

Had lunch here and the food was outstanding, service was great and atmosphere made me relaxed and comfortable. Very clean, which both my wife and I have noticed when visiting this restaurant at other times. My Chorizo Quesadilla was tasty and wonderful and my wife told our server that her Chicken Chimichanga was the best one she'd ever had, and she's had many in the past! This is definitely our go-to place from now on. Highly recommend it!

Overpriced, no English, not sure what I paid $71.00 for escept for a Margarita and a supposed Pina Colada. Told the waitress I would order a chcken taco salad when we were leaving and she brought a supposed chicken salad way before we left. Got home and it was not a chicken taco salad but a broccoli type salad. Stick with the cafes that speak English and give you a receipt of what you are purchasing.

Good food, good prices, and lovely environment, hand laid brick walls throughout the interior.

Our favorites were the cheese quesadilla and margarita. The street tacos were just okay. Also the xangos for dessert was really fun and different. It is some sort of Mexican Cheesecake Chimichanga. 😋

My wife and I ate here last night. After reading all the stellar reviews and the menu we decided to give it a try. We arrived at approximately 7:30pm. There was one waitress serving the entire restaurant. So it took a while to get seated, get chips and salsa since there was one busboy/helper and took a while to order...40 minutes. The waitress was very nice and we did tip her.
My wife ordered the pork carnitas with beans and rice, tortillas, pico. The pork came with fresh onions on top. The pork was not seasoned at all...just fried pork pieces and had no taste. Beans and rice were bland. Even the raw onions were just a crunch without any onion taste at all. Not sure how this can be done unless soaked in water for days.
I ordered a special which had a "thin" slice of beef, chicken, rice, vegetable (broccoli and carrots) mixed with 6 tiny boiled shrimp. Now when the menu said "thin" they were not lying. Maybe an 1/8th of an inch for the grilled beef which was not seasoned at all. Same for the chicken breast; just grilled without seasoning. Was a tablespoon of cheese dip on it. Now boiled shrimp mixed with the veggies was an odd combo indeed for a Mexican restaurant.
All in all, very bland food. There must have been one cook since we left at 8:43pm meaning it took forever to get our food even after we ordered.

We will not be back.

I stumbled upon this place waiting for a cake at the bakery next door. It’s great! I now go there weekly since I work down the road. Food is delicious. (the pastor street tacos are my favorite). The people working there are so friendly, service is fast, and the place is so clean!

This is a true hidden gem. While traveling on the back roads to avoid traffic of I65 we passed this little place and noticed it looked interesting. We decided a week later to go back and try it out. Trust me it is worth the drive from 280. To start the chips and salsa were fresh and unique. The prices were reasonable for what we got and the portions were very large. We split the fajitas for two and there was more then enough. We also split a pitcher of margaritas thinking for the small price listed it would be a smaller then average pitcher. Wrong it was a huge pitcher, delicious and really more then two people could finish, but we sure tried. I was so impressed with this place I would make the drive from 280 just to eat here again. Please give them a try and you will be hooked too.
