El Huarache Loco

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. From the moment we walked in, the owner's mother treated us like family. As if that wasn't enough, the food was fabulous, maybe even perfect. I moved to Alabama from Texas nearly 17 years ago. Since living here, I've had some good Mexican food. However, I have always felt like something was missing, until I ate here. El Huarache Loco is not only excellent authentic Mexican food, but it is some of the best authentic Mexican food I have eaten anywhere. I will be back!

Great authentic Mexican food. We ordered different tacos to try and each one was so good! The service was great as well. We are from out of town, but if we pass by again, we will return. 5/5 for sure.

Moved from TX 8 years ago and had not found good, authentic Mexican until I found this place. Ordered a variety of tacos and quesadillas and everything was delicious. Sauces on the table are actually spicy. This is my new favorite restaurant in Alabama!

What a rare find—an authentic Mexican restaurant! It was the best I have ever eaten. Chicken tinga tacos were amazing. They even had Doritos from Mexico which are better than American. Since everything is fresh, it takes a bit to get your food but well worth the wait. I wish there a restaurant like this near my home. ************

Had the most wonderful dinner here! We ordered the huraches, pambazo and taco. Everything is made fresh and was absolutely delicious. The different sauces were also very good, the medium was our favorite. And the owner is the sweetest little lady, we definitely be back🤍

The food is delicious and a great value! I especially recommend the alambre tacos. You also feel like you're welcomed into a family dinner when you get here. The staff is so kind and welcoming. I'm not from Oxford/Anniston, but it's hard to imagine there could be a better Mexican joint in the area than this one!

AUTHENTIC. We visited looking for some good street tacos, and boy did we find them. Wonderful people, and fantastic food. Sauces to go on the tacos were delicious! Found our new Taco Tuesday spot!

I ate lunch at El Huarache Loco which is a hidden treasure in Anniston, Alabama. It is the best reviewed restaurant, but too many people are yet to discover it. When I arrived, I saw there were a lot of dishes with meat, and as a vegetaran, I wondered how well they would cater for my needs. I didn't need to worry, because there are many options! I had a huarache that was delicious. Basically, you can just say what ingredients you want or don't want, and everything was freshly prepared in the kirchen, which can be seen from the counter where customers place their orders. I also had a bottled banana and mango juice that was very refreshing. Patty, the business owner was my greeter and server. She was the highlight of my visit---such a beautiful soul. I can see why this place is so highly rated by its customers. I hope to return again soon.

Wonderful little restaurant we discovered on a shopping trip to Oxford. not Tex-mex - tried the pambazos and the alambre, both were excellent, and the salsas were spicy and delicious. Full bar and a great selection of Mexican sodas and even Boing juices. Will be back!

I'm in this area a few times a year. I saw the high reviews and decided to give it a chance. I believe this is the most authentic (not tex-mex) you'll find within hundreds of miles. Everything is made fresh and cooked to order. Will definitely be back this week and in the future.

So we ate at "El huarache loco" in Golden Springs. It was truly an Awe God filled experience. The food was great and authentic. The owner is a devoted Christian who at the conclusion of our meal prayed with my family. I would encourage anyone looking for a quaint authentic Hispanic restaurant to eat here. The name " huarache" means flat sandal, but I believe the owner is being obedient to a loving God and being the feet of Jesus in our community. God is always there when we least expect it.

Been there twice now. Spent about 75$ all together. Really good quality Mexican food. 3 good sauces to put on the food. The owners are really friendly and nice. This is just another good small business whole in the wall secret gem. I'd Definitely put it in my top 3 or 4 of Mexican food in and around anniston/ oxford area. Highly recommend.

There is a lot of potential for this place. I popped in for takeout lunch, the host was helpful and the food was cooked to order within 15 minutes. I have only tried it once so far, but I hear good things from friends who have tried it too. El Huarache Loco is as authentic as I’ve had in this area. I will be coming back to try some other dishes.

A great family restaurant. Everyone was very nice and went out of their way to answer any questions and check on us. I got the alambre, an asada taco, and flavored water. The food was amazing, the tortillas were homemade, and I will be back to try their homemade chorizo!

I’m a Mexican food snob- this was very, very good. Homemade salsas, Agua frescas were both excellent. Asada/steak was marinated and seared well- delicious. My favorite was the Al pastor/pork, not too sweet and the flavor was the best I’ve had in Alabama.
