Don Julio's Mexican Restaurant

This Mexican restaurant, which recently opened, has quickly become a favorite of mine after my second visit. It offers a traditional Tex-Mex experience, and we started our meal with a chilled beer and a "wines rita" cocktail. The beer was served at the perfect temperature, setting the tone for a great meal. We also tried the aguas de Jamaica; although I'm not usually a fan, this one was spot on.

As a Mexican food enthusiast, my expectations are high, but the carnitas surpassed them. When the dish arrived, I was immediately impressed and couldn't wait to dig in. Honestly, the chef deserves five stars for the carnitas—they were outstanding.

The enchiladas and tacos my wife and daughter ordered also looked delicious.

This restaurant is a fantastic choice for spending a special evening with family. Highly recommended!

Very nice atmosphere, prompt service once we seated ourselves. The attendant told us the table was over there. Our waiter was very attentive. The food was delicious. Everyone enjoyed. The portions were hefty. I would recommend this place.

Awesome service 👏 very delicious food. The menu offers many choices to please anyone! I have now eaten here at least once a week. Everything I've ever gotten was absolutely 💯 wonderful. Great prices and always plenty to take home. Great beer and liquor selections, too. Plenty of seating and many friendly smiling faces.
A DEFINITE must visit. A+++++++

The basic Chile reano is just pepper, cheese, and spices/sauce(SOFT side). The taco salad is good. The quesadilla was decent. The service was friendly.

Nothing over the top, but one of probably the best mexican restaurants in the area and the price range. The waitress was amazing. Accidentally went in here forty minutes before closing.It serves with me like anybody else.
Highly recommend trying their Pastor Fajitas.

Might be my new favorite Mexican restaurant in the Auburn area! I got the quesabirria tacos and my husband got the fajitas. We both left extremely satisfied with our experience. We love the outdoor space and highly recommend dining outside when you go. One way we tend to "rate" Mexican restaurants is based off of the chips, salsa, and cheese dip. I would give those a 10/10. Gave 4 stars for the food only because the tacos I got weren't my personal favorite that I have eaten in the area but besides that, we WILL be back!

The Mexican Shrimp Soup was exceptional! It can be hard to eat with friends at a Mexican restaurant, but with this soup you can save your calories for a margarita! It was loaded with juicy shrimp. The veggies were all low carb (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots). The broth was SO good, nicely spiced with a good level of heat. Excellent healthy option!

Good food and service at reasonable prices. The tacos al pastor were tasty. No problem substituting flour tortillas for the corn ones. Nice flavor with the grilled pineapple and lime. My first time to visit and I will look forward to another.

If they had a version with 2 soft yoke eggs on top and some additional fresh jalapenos for heat, it might be challenging my favorite places in Oklahoma.

Horrible service. Asked for extra chips since we ordered a large queso and they said the same amount comes with the small or large queso. I asked for a manager and there wasn’t one. I would have to pay a second delivery fee just to get extra chips… which is more than the chips cost. I was told there are no exceptions. We will not be ordering from here again.

Our server sucked!! We were rushed to order and haven't been seated 10 mins. He didn't even bother to listen to how I wanted my food. "Ok no guacamole" excuse me sir I don't want lettuce or tomatoes either. Plate full of lettuce, he was rude and inpatient.
But they don't have worry about us coming back.

First visit. Wow. Everything was great. We dined at about 1:30PM, after the lunch rush, but still on the lunch menu. Food was probably the best we've had. The amount of spices was perfect. We will definitely eat here again. We recommend the chicken fajitas.

Don Julio service is outstanding. Their food is the best of all the Mexican food restaurants in this town very happy with them. We love the way they treat us and we got a free first cheese dip.

Well we were served chips and salsa and the advertised free cheese dip. The beans were plain . Beef seasoning in taco and fajita was mediocre. Service was good . Negative vibes while dining there.when the bill came we were still charged for the cheese dip. I will think hard before returning for another visit. Overall rating is 3.75. Honor your specials . We have had better taste. We will visit next restaurant . For 3 adults and 1 kid under 3,1 kid under 10 with drinks eating off lunch special $86.

Don Julio's is a wonderful Mexican restaurant. It is my family's favorite. The food tastes great, flavorful, and is piping hot. The staff is friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is tops and feels like part of a family neighborhood. We highly recommend this restaraunt to try and see if it becomes one of your favorites as well.

Just fair as far as Mexican restaurants go. I ordered the shrimp quesadilla and after seeing the huge shrimp in the fajitas a friend ordered I felt I was in for a treat. Nope they were like cocktail shrimp and not very many. Probably not going to hurry back.

They have good food. I like grilled fish. I genuinely suggest to rearrange table setting so customers don’t have to sit close to restroom. Everything else was good.

My boyfriend and I are avid Mexican restaurant eaters. But the food there was not that great. The chips for the salsa looked like they came from a bag and were paper thin. The Mexican guacamole was inedible because of the crazy amount of onion and lack of lime juice. The onions tasted old too.

I have enjoyed every meal I have had at Don Julio's in Auburn. Our server, Danny took great care of our table, the delicious food arrived promptly, and we were able to enjoy a dinner and conversation with friends. Next time, I want to try the outdoor patio seating!

Another excellent mex restaurant.... Good guacamole, with a little extra spice kick to it. The salsa is not spicy at all (which my elderly stomach system prefers). There's a complete spread of options on the menu. (I wish they had chicken tomatoes, however.) This place is added to my list. I WILL RETURN HERE.

I’ve been waiting for this place to open as it’s close to my work. I gave it a try today, take out, and I was more than satisfied. Food was great. Service was kind and friendly. Took about 10 mins from order till I received my food. Definitely will be back soon. Recommend.

Food just okay. Nothing special. Service slow. Non- existent ambiance. Please, dim down those overhead lights. It looks like a stadium. Big, dark, cramped furniture. There is no flow in the restaurant. Not a fun bar. Music was off. We had high expectations, but we left sort of disappointed.

Excellent all around! I've had the Chicken Fajita, and both Chicken & Beef hard shell tacos. Delicious! The rice & beans are great too!

The staff is polite and fun. Sitting outside on the patio is pleasant. The prices are average going. I highly recommend Don Julio's in Auburn.

Good food with a lot on the menu. It is the same menu one finds at Acapulcos because has the same owner. The biggest problem is the space inside. It is cramped inside.

Don Julio’s is a step above. The food is very fresh and flavorful and I love their salsa. The service is friendly and their facilities are very clean. I think they’re off to a great start and I look forward to coming here for lunch or dinner many more times.

Excited about brand new restaurant opening. First visit, went by myself sat immediately and given chips and salsa. Was crowded but after 10 minutes no one came by for even a drink order. So I stepped away for another day. Last night tried carry out. Very kind on the phone, food prep long but ready when stated, had fajitas, enchiladas and taquitos. Unfortunately very average to below average especially the taquitos. For now, DJs is average, convenient for those who live nearby, but has some kinks to workout and many tastier choices in town.

What a great addition to Auburn! Don Julio’s is truly amazing food and margaritas. I am picky about my Mexican food and this exceeded my expectations. Can’t wait to go back when I’m in Auburn again!
