Taco Mama - Auburn

I’m taking Callie around to all the food places in Auburn, she has cancer and just trying to make her life better while she’s around. She loved the tacos and Mac and cheese. We’re walking around as long as she’s able to, if you see her, give her a pet, she loves the attention. I am also trying to raise money for a bench to remember her by at one of the parks, maybe Town Creek.

the portions were good but the ground beef was way too salty. The queso was good. the line was out the door at 5pm and it takes a while to get to the counter. the inside is a bit dark. It is similar to Chipotle food-wise.

Visited this place after seeing reviews. Our experience was ok! Drinks are very good but food was not so good and the place is little crowded in the evening and it has very limited parking. If you are planning to drink and have some lite food I recommend this place.

It has good price and quality. The environment is very nice and the cashier was very gentle. The burito bowl is best option to choose so you can add anything to it. The chips are taste much better than other places.

I recently visited Taco Mama and had a very positive experience. The food, service and atmosphere was amazing, and I particularly enjoyed the steak quesadilla and the funky way the establishment was decorated. The staff was friendly and efficient, and the overall vibe was upbeat. The margaritas had very little tequila and they were served in a plastic cup, margaritas should be strong and should always be served in a big margarita glass, it makes a huge difference in how the drink tastes. The queso/bean/meat dip was way too salty.

Atmosphere and service super friendly. However the portions for the prices are outrageous. This isn’t authentic Hispanic food whatsoever. And all the veggies in my food were bad. Or undercooked. Really wouldn’t come again.

This is a must-have in Auburn. The food is always fresh and fantastic. We have eaten everything from quesadillas to burrito bowls. You cannot get a bad thing here. Even the fish tacos are well cooked and not over done.

They also have great drinks and a really good beer selection. Reminds me of a cantina
in Ramos Arizpe, near Saltillo in Mexico. Only a bit more pricy.

Went to Taco Mama in Auburn because I heard how good their crab legs were. I was disappointed to not only discover that they didn't sell crab legs, but also that they refused to negotiate the possibility of adding them to their menu. I don't feel that it's an unreasonable request as tacos are the perfect vessel to lay crab leg meat into. I've already contacted my lawyer and am waiting to hear back from her.

I know this is like an Alabama staple (being from Montgomery) but their food is so average and so expensive. I literally only come here for margaritas and munching on chips and queso/salsa/guac. I would never spend money on a meal here (maybe a kids meal). It’s so bland and boring. Margaritas are AMAZING so I wish all their locations just had better tasting food that’s worth the 20$ per entree price. I know people go for the vibes but I would love it more if the food was actually flavorful.

We go out of our way every time we see a Taco Mama. I love the Auburn location with it's close proximity to the University and downtown. My favorite items are to build my own burrito or nachos. And my favorite meat is the fried or grilled flounder. If you do not want to build your own, they do have both tacos and burritos on the menu to choose from. My wife loves the Mayor. Plus, almost all menu items come with a side. And of course, you have an array of margaritas and beers to choose from. Lastly, I have never been to a Taco Mama with anything by kind staff.This is definitely worth a stop if you love quality food at a a reasonable price.

One of the best restaurants for Mexican food in the area. The quesadillas are big enough to easily food two. Staff are very helpful and quick to prepare food.

This place is overrated. Sides were mediocre, the Alabama Redneck taco tasted like hotdog relish only, the pickles covered up all the other flavors. The cheesy beef didn't taste like cheese, and the beef was watery not flavorful.
The chips were the best part of the meal.

I waited about 10 mins to receive my order and the meat was ice cold. It was if the chicken was taken from the refrigerator. The taco’s were also missing lettuce and about halfway full, and the Queso looked and tasted old. Such a disappointing experience because I absolutely love Taco Mama!

It was an OK meal(I lived in CA for a few years...maybe I was spoiled lol).
Overall, neat and clean presentation of food/condiments.

Negatives include:
- only received a handful of hard-shelled tacos(food was for 20 people, but there was about 10 hard-shelled tacos)
- rice was hard, dry and undercooked(beans, too)
- ground beef was not broken down properly...there were large chunks/pieces that we had to chop up ourselves
- chicken was very dry/stringy and did not have much flavor

Besides the convenience, I think for the cost, it might be better just ordering for takeout and picking up next time. We will try another catering service next time (or try the burritos meals).

Great mexican restaurant in the heart of Auburn. Food is spot on, drinks (beers and margs) good selection, and great staff to eat and watch the games. Rather kid friendly too.

Bria valdez: unfortunately, I had a similar experience here as well. the manager, eric caudle, has repeatedly told Black patrons to "leave the restaurant" and it seems his racism has spread to the other employees. ironic that a taco restaurant would be so racist towards a hispanic family.

I don’t eat here often, but when I do the food and service is %200 amazing! Noah the manager is honestly the sweetest person ever and does everything asked with a smile on his face. Props to the staff at Taco Mama because each employee is so kind and considerate of every customer that comes in to eat. Also gonna recommend the pomegranate margarita.

On any other day, I would give Taco Mama's a 5/5 because let's be honest their Tacos are to die for; however tonight was a different experience all together. Tonight my family and I walked into Taco Mama's with the intention of eating dinner. When we arrived the line was out the door, so we asked our 15 year old and his brother and sister to go grab a table while we waited in line. A few minutes later a bus boy came and asked our children to get up because we had not yet ordered. Our children did as asked and came and told us what happened. The manager Noah Duffy said that their policy is that "we don't allow customers to sit down before ordering." However, after taking a moment to look around we noticed that several other people were sitting down before ordering. I went up to him to ask why other people could sit but we could not and he said that it was just their policy. He went to ask another set of patrons who were grown to get up, but they replied that their parent were ordering. Needless to say no one else complied with his request, yet my family and I were made to get up. It baffles me how a manager could ask children to get up but not other patrons in the restaurant. I'm not sure if I'll ever go back, but I do believe that if it is a restaurants "policy to not allow people to sit before ordering" then it should be policy for all and not just some. I'm honestly not sure if it's worth mentioning but my children are half Hispanic and the other patrons who refused to get up were white...so my heart is hoping this has nothing to do with it but unfortunately I will never know.

They went ABOVE + BEYOND for us today. We get the Happy Family dinner and I had no idea the chicken in that meal was made with beer and they threw in some grilled chicken to make sure it was GF. It’s not often a restaurant has such an informed staff. We love their tacos and EXCEPTIONAL service.

As we were sitting at two different tables, my friend sat her purse down to go get in line to order. Once she had gotten up, some worker came and took her purse and said we “couldn’t save tables”. We were not saving tables. My friend eventually came to sit down with her purse and then proceeded to go wash her hands before she ate and the same worker took her purse and again said we couldn’t save tables. I tried to tell her we weren’t saving tables and my friends were already sitting there waiting for food but she proceeded to take her purse off the table in order to let someone else sit there. My friends are African American and I will never eat here again.

Wonderful chorizo tacos. The queso was sublime and the chips were salted well. The water was also very good. However, as the people of Auburn are known to do, they did not provide napkins. This is a huge deal for me. I love napkins.

Our tacos were good, fresh, and fast.
I asked 3 times for excessively loud music to be turned down. Never turned music down. Not good family atmosphere. Our kids even commented how loud music is. Very Hard to have conversations over music

Visiting family and needed lunch. I love gttn the nachos with EVERYTHING on them. Easily enough for 3-4 to share. It's a must have everytime I go. My friends had the soft tacos and burrito. Both were more than enough food. Atmosphere was great. The cashier was knowledgeable and friendly. Bathrooms were clean and the line moved quickly. I'll visit again!
