Amigo's Mexican Grill

Wow, so my daughter and I tried Amigos for the first time and according to their reviews it did not disappoint at all. Service was great from the host and server. The restaurant was very clean and organized and very welcoming. We got the lunch special on Sunday between 11-3 .
I had the #1 which came with too much food as you can see in the photo. It had 1 of each taco, chalupa, enchilada and a burrito. It was all delicious the flavor was immense and the meat was juicy. My kid had a taco salad and it was great as well. We’d for sure will return.

The food was delicious! There were three places we went to and passed up bc there was an over 55mon wait for Mexican restaurants. We googled ones near us and this popped up. There were 2 families ahead of us but no wait. The food was fast and the place is very clean. The people were always very friendly. 10/10

I came and got the steak fajitas. Absolutely amazing! They did an awesome job with the steak and didn't overcook it like some places. I am very happy and will definitely recommend and come back! Amazing job!

Out of towner traveling back to Augusta, GA from a small town in Alabama. So glad I popped a u turn and came here. I’m so relaxed and my food got here in like 5 mins. Phenomenal server as well.

Found this quiet place tucked away in the corner of a shopping center while traveling. Overall, the food was good, the salsa was just right, and the chips were decent.
I ordered the shrimp chili rellenos. The flavor was good, but the pepper was a little undercooked. The shrimp, on the other hand, were just right.
I'd definitely return to try it again. The atmosphere and beer were great.

The restaurant experience was disappointing due to poor service and unreasonable policies. Initially, we requested a bowl of salsa for each person, which the waiter agreed to, but the salsa never arrived. Instead, only three small bowls of salsa were provided for six people. Additionally, they brought out two bowls of chips and refused to provide a third unless we paid $1.50 per additional bowl. They also charged $1 for each extra salsa.

Realizing the restaurant’s policies felt like they were "nickel and diming" us, we decided to leave. Despite leaving without consuming much, they still charged us for four salsas, a bowl of chips, and a drink. Throughout this, we remained polite and calm. Our dad, who speaks Spanish, even tried reasoning with the waiter to explain the situation, but it made no difference.

Overall the experience was good. Food was ok and prices were average. They have a lunch menu. Service was great. Parking was ample. I have not tried the margaritas but very tempted to come back during happy hour.

Truly a hidden gem, I can't believe I've lived over here for so long and haven't been in until tonight! The restaurant is clean, the drinks are cold and delicious, and it's some of the best Mexican food I've had in this city! I was also blown away by how quick the service is! Excellent staff all around, very kind and knowledgeable. Thanks for everything!!

Went go find a local Mexican place to enjoy, there was no wait- good food- good service- and it was very reasonably priced! Had a top shelf margarita- and it was perfect!

Been going to Amigos for almost 10 years. Everytime I visit, it seems like the service keeps going worse and worse, today I was prob the worst Ive ever had it, and might be my last time going.

Went in, got sat down, and asked for a high chair. The servers that always stand near the bar looked at us and started laughing. Nonetheless we assumed it was for something else. Ordered the drinks, my drink didn't come, she brought me a water instead, and I didn't correct her, I just drank it. We ordered fries, they came burnt (not her fault).

She never came and saw us in between meals. It was time to go, asked her for a Togo water. She came and gave me am empty cup. I asked her can you fill it up. She looked towards the cup and said just use that one. Wtf. So I just left the cup she gave me and walked away.

And then it's time to pay, I walked up to the counter and told them the service sucked. There was three teens up there, they looked at me and laughed. I stormed out, prob never got back over there. The owner of amigos owns a few more restaurants around town, I suggest not going to any of them.

we ate here last night and the food was great, however when I woke up this morning I was incredibly sick. I went to the dr with food poisoning and now i’m having to miss two days of work. the food was not worth the aftermath. I got a fajita steak quesadilla, and the steak was obviously cooked. so either someone is not washing their hands, or there’s some serious cross contamination going on. eat here at your own risk.

Amigos is an oldie but goodie. The food is always hot, fresh, and delicious. The service is sometimes rushed, but i feel it only to make sure you have everything you need. The salsa is def top tier and my fav. My bff got the taco, enchilada, and burrito lunch plate
She said it was delicious. I ordered the veggie fajitas, and they were piping hot and oh so good. The grilled chicken plate is so juicy and tender. They food is cooked to order yet it comes out quickly and fresh . It's one of my go tos for Mexican fare!

My wife and I went to Amigos Monday night with an old friend. The food was great! The service top notch! The restaurant was clean, and had a nice atmosphere! I picked up the check, and it very reasonable for 3 people!

Really enjoyed our experience here. The shrimp in my Shrimp Chile Rellenos was cooked perfectly. Spicy but not overpowering. My husband's shrimp nachos looked amazing as well. The guacamole was also made fresh and was delicious.

Amigo's is a wonderful restaurant! If you're looking for authentic Mexican food, this is a place you want to be. I've been here twice now, and it was absolutely delicious both times. To go order - Husband had beef enchilada & taco combo and I had enchilada, refried beans and rice kids combo. We also ordered churros. Everything was delicious, fresh and tasty. Service was fast & friendly. We just moved to the area and are happy to find a great restaurant nearby.

When we left texas we didn’t think we would have great Mexican options, but this food is better than anything I’ve had in Texas. Great service from Matthew, and for sure coming back!! Get the #51 chicken plate and the #55 carne asada taco plate!!!

The chicken Ukateckas are delicious! Amazing Queso dilp. We have eaten there for the better part of 16 years. Great food, great service! Super clean! Sweet ladies always so eager to help with selections. They also welcome parties! Take a cake! And don’t forget to share a slice or two with your servers! It’s always much appreciated. Kid friendly with high chairs, wheelchairs accessible, too. All around, best Mexican in Hoover!

Great food, great prices but horrendous service. I wanted to order an extra side of sour cream, guacamole and tomato to occompany my meal and was told no. When I asked later why I could not order an extra side of it she told me it would be an upcharge. I replied that I understood that and I was asking for exactly that, but ultimately got another dish instead. I would not dine in again, but would order takeout or delivery.

We have been going to this restaurant for 15 years. We get the best service from Laura and Vicki! Their food is always fresh and delicious! They have the best margaritas. It’s that kind of place where they know you by name. I’ll post pics next visit. Stay tuned!

Portions were very small compared to other Mexican restaurants near by which would have been fine if pricing was for smaller portions. Their pricing was hi and portions small.

A consistently excellent experience. I have been going weekly for a few years now and there hasn't been a single time where I was disappointed. Fast and friendly service, great food, and a nice touch is that their glasses are larger than most restaurants. It truly is one of the best gems tucked away in Hoover.

This place is terrific. Food is outstanding, service is even better (I was a waitress in the day and appreciate it when it is exceptional). Server said, you’d like the 49, right? She came back a few minutes later…you like to swap for black beans, right? Remembering regular order is great, but recalling weird personal tweaks takes it to another level. And, if you’r you’re in the mood for a Margarita, to they are superb. Please check this place out…You won’t be disappointed!

Nice rustic decor. Taco salad was excellent. Peach daiquiri was good. Water was good, nice people. Waitress had to be asked 3 times for my friends initial water, but she was very good. A little higher, but I will eat there again.

Keep an eye on your check here. Tried to charge my friend $27 for a quesadilla and a drink. I asked the cashier to break down the charges for me and it added up to $16. When I asked her how it could go from $16 to a total of $27 she told me “tax” lol

The staff is very attentive and friendly. their mango margaritas are yummy. The steak fajitas are full of delicious flavor and the meat is juicy instead of dried out like at some places. My Mexican boyfriend is impressed with their tacos with tripas. He loves that they’re crispy and not greasy. Their salsa picosa is really good too.
