It’s a place that’s been here for a very long time and sadly it’s run down. The food wasn’t that bad. I did enjoy my chimichanga and my mom enjoyed her soup. The rice and beans were bland and the tomato was one big fat chunk. But the worst part was that it’s not a great area and their AC IS OUT. We couldn’t enjoy our meals because we were drenched in sweat and don’t get me started about trying to go to the restroom. Super super tiny restroom with no AC it’s like a sauna and so cramped. I walked in and walked right back out. Server was nice tho! 🫠

Arrived at around 6:30pm. Service was *slightly* slow, but to be expected with it being peak dinner time with so many people there. The food was great for a good price. Lots of vegetarian options. Everything was as expected from this type of restaurant. The seats were actually above average, being extremely comfortable.

The customer service is not good. We sat at a bar and the waitress was working the bar area and serving tables. We had to ask for salsa and chips after being there for awhile while a couple sitting across from us had salsa and chips before their drinks. The menus (two) provided to us were sticky. No one smiled or asked if we were good, that were in the bar area working, while she worked other sections and tables. I could understand this if they were busy but they weren't. She then left for the day and said someone else would be taking care of us. We sat there for another 15 to 20 minutes and the bar was unattended. You had people back and forth making drinks but no one ever asked if we needed anything else.
This is not my first visit. Usually in the past it's carry out and even then the front desk staff is not friendly. I definitely will not be going back. We spent nearly $60 on poor service and ok food. There are other Mexican restaurants near by that gives better service.

Solid Mexican restaurant. I visit here for lunch often. Quick service and a good meal at a fair price. I usually get the chicken breast plate, but today I got the burrito. They have fountain drinks as well as bottle and can drinks.

Took forever for my food (it wasn't busy) took a while to get a drink and it never got refilled. I sat through most of my lunch without a drink and when I asked for a tea to go the lady at the counter kept ringing people up instead of simply making me a drink. I spent a hour in there just to get a simple lunch plate. And the menu prices online are not the same as in the restaurant. Service was terrible. And prices were higher.

Slowest service imaginable. Servers stand around sucked into their phones. No one is actively observing customers waiting. No teamwork across tables. I can’t believe their house margarita, it’s disgusting. Won’t be coming back. $50 for two could be better spent literally anywhere else in Bham. This restaurant should shut down to allow an opportunity for someone else to make something of it. The staff simply don’t care about taking care of customers, they will test your patience and giggle awkwardly to the point of no..we will never return.

Was immediately seated which is great! A lady immediately brought out chips and salsa...great! Another lady took our drink order and immediately brought the drinks out...great! A gentleman came to take our order but we weren't ready so he said he'd be back in a min. We asked him if he minded bringing us more salsa. He said yes and took our empty salsa bowl. About 10 minutes later a different lady came by and took our order. We still hadn't received our salsa from the man that took our bowl so we asked if she minded bringing us more salsa. A couple min later she brought it to us. About 25 mins later our food finally came out and it was barely even warm. We didn't complain. We just ate, paid and left. We've eaten here a few times and have never had an issue but this experience just wasn't good at all.

I added some photos of my chimichangas, but not to this post. But I've been eating here for 16yrs now and they've been consistently good. Even after a remodel and staffing changes. I live in Alabaster now and drive 35 minutes to get here... They're that much better than the places in the area. Best queso and margaritas. But I get two chimichangas by themselves with grilled chicken and shrimp.... Wanted to go hug the cook.

This place has great tasting food. The atmosphere is friendly. I'm Latino so you gotta do a good job making me feel like the food is authentic Hispanic food. I'd say they did pretty good. Give a shot you won't be disappointed.

This was literally the nastiest Mexican food I have ever had. I had the enchilada verdes and the chicken was so dry like cutting my throat up and the tortilla was thick like eating paper mache. The Mexican rice had peas and carrots in it. The chips were stale with no salt or flavor. I’m not trying to be hateful but it’s just a shame and I want others to know, if you want a good meal go somewhere else. This place gets a 1 star period.

WATCH YOUR WALLET !!!
I ordered takeout. 3 days later I got an email from my credit card company asking if I had left a 34% tip. No, I had left no tip since it was takeout. The issue has been resolved, but I won't be going back. No great loss; food was mediocre and place reeked of bleach half the time.
If not for notice from CapitalOne, I never would have caught this. Thank you CapOne!

Oh it's bad! January 13th, a Saturday night we arrived around 7pm. For a Saturday, they weren't busy. It took 10+ minutes to get chips & salsa. It took another 10+ minutes for a waitress to ask about drinks and take the drink order (there was 4 of us).

By the time we ordered our meals, drinks were empty. They sat empty until the food showed up. Even then we had to ask for refills on drinks and more chips. Very unattentive wait staff!!

I always order the chile rellenos but tonight should have passed. They were awful. Peppers were tough, filling was bland and the cheese was an odd/unusual consistency that sort of resembled cottage cheese.

Overall, just a bad experience. Waitress could have cared less. Food was bad. At least the company was good. Doubt we'll be back.

One of the best Mexican restaurants in the Irondale area. Always friendly and helpful and the food has never disappointed, neither have the margaritas. They’re great with take out or dine in. Lots of large TVs for game day sports watching. Fun atmosphere.

Food was really good, especially the salsa and chips. Margarita was average (good and very drinkable but nothing outstanding, and thankfully not over-sweet). It was very busy on a Thursday evening and it looked like everyone was getting good table service... but I was at the bar. I had stepped in for a quick dinner on the way home, and sat at the bar where I expected it to be fast. I finished an entire basket of chips before my order was even taken. I think this would be much improved if there was a dedicated bartender, but the servers were all making their own drinks, and I am not sure anyone was in charge of the bar. It was fine and I will certainly go back, but will think twice before sitting at the bar.

We had ordered to go an hour after lunch when it wasn’t busy. The waitress was polite and we ordered 3 beef hard shell tacos, a grilled chicken quesadilla, just the quesadilla, and a flaun. We didn’t check our order til we got home and we noticed they forgot the flaun, the shells on the tacos were soft and stale as well as the meat had no flavor and completely dry. The quesadilla was wrong entirely and was drenched in sour cream. It was our first time trying the place, but overall we won’t be trying it again. The only positive was the wait was short and polite staff.

Run away from this place.
I'll give it a zero if it was an option. Horrible experience. The waitress was awful, ignored us the whole time, except to bring me some totally flat old soda. The bartender had to come and get our order because no one came back to us after sitting us. Even had to go and ask for our ticket because we didn't even get that.

My first visit to El Cazador. I rarely get a chance to get this kind of food but went for a special occasion. I am a whole food plant based person and El Cazador had more than one vegetable option. I got the vegetable fajitas and thoroughly enjoyed it. Plenty of food and all very tasty. Service was excellent too. I will go there again.

Our dinner was delicious, lots of cheese and the chips and salsa were very good. But the sopapilla was not. I think it was precooked and microwaved. Overall, I would definitely recommend.

Typical strip mall Mexican but with enough signature and special and unique dishes that it stands out in its field.

Corona Rita's are the way to go as is the chicken mole.

Plus they just did a remodel and have new chairs and booths that are more comfy.

The food and drinks were nice, but there was a very creepy waiter making my table very uncomfortable by winking and hitting on my girlfriend literally the whole time. He has since shown up at her work multiple times uninvited trying to find her/staring her down. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone and have told many people about this man/this experience at this restaurant. The food was great and so was the waitress who helped us at one point, but absolutely would not recommend and will not go back.

Used to eat here some time ago but the service (this past Sunday at lunch anyway) has gone way down. Maybe they were short-staffed but we had to do a lot ourselves: find and carry our own high chair (not offered), get our own silverware (after TWO requests from two different people in our party), and request a drink refill if we wanted one. If they can't provide a server to do more than take orders, I would rather just place my order at the register and do the rest myself. I can bring my own silverware and my own drink if I need to! The price was good, and the food was fine. Hope the group (about 16) goes elsewhere next time.

El cazador was awesome we had dinner on 05/05/23 for Cinco de mayo. The food was great. We had to wait awhile for our food kinda expected that they had a large crowd of people. But all in all it was great. I definitely will be going again.

The waitress took over 40mins to take our orders even though there were only 3 tables occupied. The food was served quickly and hot. I asked for sauce on the side of sautéed vegetables but never received the sauce. We had to wait at least 35 minutes for our check. We were on the patio by choice. We were forgotten. Our local family states they have experienced the same treatment.

This is a convenient and reasonably priced Mexican restaurant. The food is good and it has plenty of room for a group. The service is a little slow, but it could be due to a lack of personnel. I was in a group of 10 and everyone was pleased with their meal.
