Hands down the best Mexican restaurant in the Birmingham area. Probably would venture to say all of Alabama. Service is the best, always kind and caring and attentive. The lunch specials are our favorite. The picture included shows the fajita lunch and the fajita bowl lunch, only $20 for everything in the picture. Go to spot! Typically if we are going out to eat, you can find us here. Value, atmosphere, and service is hard to beat.

The Shrimp Fajita Bowl was FIRE! Their salsa is great. My hubby had the Poblano and rice ..so good. I noticed that they have awesome drink specials and daily lunch specials for $6.50. HIGHLY recommend.

I've usually ordered the birria tacos in which are extremely good and I've occasionally ordered the big texano at least twice. Iwas recommended by my friend up front [1-3-25] to order the "Special Sincronizada" I think that's the best thing or the menu As far as a meal that I've tasted. I like how They embrace their culture & ancestry in the restaurant & the people I've met that work at this restaurant SO FAR have been very polite. I plan on coming back soon.

Food was full of oil was never like this i don't know who this new cook is but he/she is terrible wont be coming until this is fixed and will be telling everyone this is unacceptable. the picture is supposed to be Birria consomé and I reorded the food twice and ended up getting a torta just for it to be worse…

As an Alabama native who is learning more about Latin cuisine through my extended family, this is a great local chain and I’m happy to learn about it.

The handmade and painted decor is very colorful and makes it feel like you’re really in Mexico. The service was fantastic. Tacos were done just the way we like them with roasted Jalapeño and Green Onion and a homemade salsa on the side that really kicks. Thanks for the service and your hospitality. Good Mexican beer selection, too!

SAMANTHA was awesome! It was Thursday, karaoke night and the crowd was very upbeat so it was very very busy for the servers. I don’t know how Samantha did it, but she remembered to bring my drinks and food😆Shoutout to all of the crew, they were literally running around all night. Will be back next Thursday!

I'm giving 5stars for the food and the manager. The waiter I had again had no personality, he was rude and impatient. He attempted to insult my intelligence by asking if I could read. The manager apologized and discounted the food.

It is a super incredible place...I loved the decoration, the food, the attention that my family and I received was the best, obviously when we go out to eat again we already know where we would return without a doubt...thanks to everyone who was behind the great and wonderful day that we spent there.

Me and my coworker ordered our food and we waited for a long time before we got our food. When another customer came into the restaurant long after we did they received their food in 15 minutes and we still was waiting for our food. We had to hurry up and eat because we had to be back at work like in 10 minutes. So I don't recommend eating there for lunch not unless you have time on your hands.

Today we sat in & ordered cheese dip. It had plastic all inside. I’m pregnant & I feel as if the customer service was horrible after I brought it to the managers attention.

We used to enjoy this place when we dine in. The last couple of times we got our food to go. We were being charged for food we didn't receive. After trying to explain what happened the guy that took our order couldn't understand English all of sudden. We will never go back. wouldn't take care of the customers. Make sure you are paying attention to what they are charging you. We was charged any extra $9 the first visit then $11 the next visit. Will not go back!!

The food and drinks are always fresh at El Patron. This is one of our favorite spots to take our toddler. He loves the atmosphere and everyone is always so kind to him. The fajitas are my favorite while my husband loves the shrimp chimichanga. The El Patron margarita is always a hit too!

They tried charge us 5.99 for the horchata water.
Menu says it's 3.75
And blame it on the old menu, doesn't have anything to do with us.

Cold food. The meat was cold in several dishes. Food doesn’t match the menu description. Ordered a chile relleno and they brought a bell pepper. Disappointing overall. They didn’t even offer a discount when we told them the food was cold. Nice staff. Don’t go unless you need to catch a case of the Cha Cha Chas.

I get the same meal everyone I go. This time I got sick about 2 hours after dinner. Please make sure all meat is up to temp and stays at the proper temp between customers. This is the second time I've gotten sick this year from eating at this restaurant. We won't be back.

This is normally our go-to for Mexican. Might not be anymore. Something has changed,and the quality of the food was not good. I ordered Birria tacos and they were dry, meat not well seasoned. It was disappointing.
My wife ordered ceviche, her favorite dish. She had been craving it for days, and it was not prepared correctly. They cooked the fish in a pan to order, boiled some shrimp and kinda threw it together. Ceviche is cooked by the lime juice, not heat. You place the shrimp and the fish diced up together into a container with the Pico and plenty of lime juice and refrigerate. This takes several hours to ensure the seafood is fully cooked. What we received was a fish and shrimp lazy stir fry. Not good.

This should be a five star restaurant, it really deserves to be.
They have the best food, the best manager, and the best
owners, they're awesome people!!! I love and miss the food here, this was my favorite restaurant when I was in Alabama and now even though I'm not there it still is and it will always be!! The food is A 10/10🤤🤤🤤😋😋😋 I really recommend this place to everyone!!!!! Knowing this place and people, and tasting this food was the BEST thing that happened in my life!!!!!!!
