They seem to be trying to serve Mexican and American folks, and doing it pretty well.
It's NOT a taqueria. Full menu, a good effort at decoration
Saddles for bar stools.
Some one is trying hard to build a brand, and more power to them. The clientele is 50/50 mix.
My litmus test is Chilaquiles. Their effort is pretty good.
Autentico chilaquiles is a pretty dismal dish of leftover breakfast recycled for a quick mid day meal. The typical Gringo version is basically Nachos with a big portion of sauce over them. Theirs is a little of both. I liked it, and it's a generous portion.
Do it. Go.

So welcoming and cozy! Food is also fantastic. I was feeling so down today and their Quesadilla Texana helped me cheer up. Thank you so much El Taco Loco💖 I thoroughly enjoyed dining in here today, would recommend 10/10!!!!

El Taco 🌮 Loco is my favorite place to enjoy authentic food. I ordered three soft cornshell tacos, beef, chorizo, and beef tongue. As usual, it was cooked to perfection. Top with fresh white onions, cilantro with red and green sauce. Let me tell you something: the margaritas 🍹 are a great device to counter the spicy sauce. Perfection. The service was great and attentive.

This place is a must-visit for Mexican food lovers! Their grilled short ribs with nopal and green salsa are so good. I no longer have to drive to Atlanta to enjoy some of my favorite foods. Don’t forget the chips with their homemade green and red salsas - they’re a game-changer and caliente! But if you’re looking for something a bit different, try their chilaquiles with chicken - they’re muy delicious!

Terrible service. My mother had to wait 1 hour to get her food. By the time she got her food, it was already time for my family to leave. They didn't even care about the time they took and we ended up wasting food because of the precious time these stupid workers took. I had to pay $250 just for damn food. Never will I ever step foot in this restaurant again.

Certainly a different approach to Mexican food. Coming from South Texas, there are subtle differences. I had the warache, which was fine. We ordered choriqueso, which was so different from how it is prepared in Texas. This one was more of a cheese sauce versus actual melted cheese with chorizo. Still a decent place to eat.

Well, it was really good food. I will say they barely speak any English, which is completely understandable. That being said there was a few parts of our order incorrect. Regardless the food was good and fairly authentic. I would recommend trying it!

The service was phenomenal. They are very kind. I ordered a chicken salad and it was very fresh but I did wish it had more flavor. I think their flavor comes from different sauces in other dishes. I look forward to coming back to try something else. Also be warned some of their sauces are very spicy! 😊

I called & placed my order for pickup and the lady said it’d be ready in 15 minutes. I arrive 30 minutes later expecting to pickup my food but instead I was asked to order AGAIN! THEY DIDN’T MAKE MY FOOD so I had to wait another 15 minutes. I get home only to see they left out my rice & beans I paid for separately. I’m giving 2 stars because the tacos are repeatedly good, but the service was abysmal tonight. I’ll try other options next time.

If they say SPICY believe it! We had shrimp so spicy we could not eat it. Im from New Orleans so I really thought I could handle it. It was swimming in hot sauce. Place was beautiful inside. Staff didn't want to give us an empty plate to remove the shrimp from the sauce. Was not a pleasant experience.

I recently ate her. When you first walk in, the artistic value of just each table amazed me and company. This was a bit different than your average Mexican local favorite. There were some that had very vintage photos taken of the people at the time period. There was one that had a beautiful statue and a Mayan warrior on another. The food was fantastic. I have actually found a place that has many different things that I can't wait to try. No more boring same same. Do yourself a favor and go.

La carisma y la amabilidad de sus meseras hacia sus comensales...

Terrible experience with horrible service. Server brought us the wrong tacos and proceeded to argue with me about my order. They also proceeded to charge us double for the “ceviche” tostadas which they apparently no longer serve but left on the menu. Got something completely different than ceviche we ordered. When we went to pay, they attempted to hang us a $50 bill completely ripped in half as our change. When we declined that, they gave us all ones. Avoid this place at all costs.

Great beef soup...best I've found from Mobile to Birmingham. Had fresh vegetables and well cooked beef. They definitely didn't leave anything out. Great job ! I will definitely be ordering again on my next visit to Birmingham.

Pollo loco wasn't all that. Basically no cheese even when I asked for extra. Didn't come with onions and green peppers. Was just rice (which was crunchy) and meat. Don't suggest this dish at all!! Very disappointed ☹️

I brought two plates of carne asada to go , on both of the plates, the meat was raw and when I called the restaurant about the issue, they told me to bring them back their food, when I arrived at the restaurant they had a very bad attitude as soon as they saw me walk in. They knew they were wrong but didn't even apologize. They said the steak was not raw because it was cut in pieces. Very unprofessional place and I will not be returning.

Made a large order for a group of coworkers. Figured maybe because it was a large order and they were busy the orders came out bad. I was wrong. The restaurant was empty except for two tables at most and the rest of the food was fine so i don’t see a excuse. I will won’t be back. Two of the Steak orders were RAW. The chips for the nachos were stale all they did was refried them. Then to top it off they had a attitude when approached about the food. Tried to argue about the situation. Terrible customer service. Refused to refund the money at first until the lady of the card came in and told them to refund it. They still tried to argue. The order total was $84. For that money we could of received better food and customer service else where. We will not be doing buisness with them anymore. Instead of apologizing or even asking to remake the food they decided to fight about it and have a nasty attitude. Is that the type of people you guys are and represent? What a shame. We used to eat there often but there are way better options around Birmingham.

Having lived in Houston, TX for a few years, I was convinced I wouldn't find tacos like the ones I had there.

I'm happy to say that I was wrong. I found El Taco Loco and the steak tacos that I had were fantastic, just as good as the ones I left behind in Texas. The prices are fair and the green sauce was delicious! I will definitely be back!

My boyfriend loves this place as he says it is very authentic in terms of Mexican dishes. The decor is beautiful and eye catching. I recommend the horchata as a drink for newbies to authentic Mexican cuisine. Price was medium-low. Around $20 for two meals.

El taco loco was one of my top five places to get real tacos. They can come with beff tounge, steak, chicken, chorizo. You can get onions and cilantro on your tacos or on the side. Cheese dip and home made sauses. Very good.

Food was great but the services is questionable.. my server took forever to provide menus and drinks... ask for extra order of chips and dip and never arrive.. one order was completely wrong.. never apologized for it. She keep forgetting the rest of my order. My server not even once approach to my table to ask if we need anything even when our glasses were empty and we need refills..

Several issues. Have been here twice. First time was pretty good, but tea tasted old. Decided to give it another chance. Tea tasted spoiled again the second time. Watched server get chips out of hopper for the basket with her bare hands. It was 79 degrees (hot!), and I know because we were seated right by the thermostat. Literally no one speaks English so it was very hard to communicate and just gave up trying. Tried to get a refill, but no one could understand. At checkout, they charged me for a drink I didn't even have. I voiced my concern, but again, literally no one speaks English. I decided to just pay the overcharge so I could get out there before I sweat to death. There are several other good options in the area. Check them out instead.

Bad experience I ordered a caldo 7 mares this weekend and it was salty also ordered 2 orders of tortillas and they just brought me one, my margarita drink it was empty I was rasing my hand to ask for onother drink it took a while to get it , server was not very professional just one or 2 stop in our table but it was because I call her not recommended....and this was one of my favorites mexican restaurant but not anymore ....
