Bowtie Pasta at a Mexican Restaurant doesn't sound normal but it was really good. Chips and Pico are always fresh. My salmon was cooked well and needed citrus, a dab of salt and garlic. Veggies and potatoes needed a light seasoning.

I’ve been going here for years and this is still one of the best restaurants on this highway and I always have a great experience every time the food is always hot and fresh the service is great .. I 100% recommend

I'm so pissed never had an issue since I have been ordering from them today and it's official I will never eat from the restaurant again.

My Tamale wasn't cooked which I currently have in the oven cooking. I didn't call to ask for a raw tamale when I placed my order. I did upload a pic to show.

My steak carne asada the lime was old as heck when I squeezed it wasn't no juice as if it been sitting laying out for days no juice at all luckily I had some lime juice in my fridge on top of that the steak meat on the taco tasted as it been under a warmer all day and dried out.

My husband said they piled sour cream all over is taco which he never requested extra sour cream.

This place feels like a time capsule. The decor feels like it's straight out of the early 2000's and I mean this in a highly complimentary way. It felt very homey and comfortable. Our waitress Maria was so sweet and attentive, she took great care of us. As for the food, it was really good. It tasted a little different than I expected it to, every restaurant is different but that doesn't take away from how delicious it was. I got the steak fajitas and the steak was perfectly cooked, the queso they have here is very delicious as well. Overall I would highly recommend this place for a nice meal, friendly staff, and nostalgic atmosphere!

El Vecino Mexican restaurant has great food with great service and a very good atmosphere. My wife and I love the trio fajitas, which come with tender steak, grilled shrimp, and chicken.
The portions are large and I guarantee you will be satisfied!

Had lunch here today. Pretty good! The margaritas were "ok". The fajitas were tasty! I had #63 (shrimp, chicken and beef). Service was quick!

Update: Back here in June 23.... had regular beef nachos. Service was terribly slow today. We were in a party of 7. Took forever to get service. Food was still tasty. This time I tried a Margo-corona. It was better than a regular margarita.

El Vecino Mexican restaurant has great food with great service and a very good atmosphere. My wife and I love the trio fajitas, which come with tender steak, grilled shrimp, and chicken.

By far the best Mexican food I've had in a long time . The salsa was amazing , we actually bought salsa to take home. It will be our go to spot to eat while in Birmingham .

We moved near about a year ago giving up our fav. Mexican restaurants. My girlfriend said let's give this a chance...I will never go anywhere else , food and service is great. Atmosphere is wonderful the people are so friendly but I'm getting back to the food the reason I am there very affordable for such quality food this is my fav...ever Mexican choice

Everything is fantastic here. It's always a wonderful experience. The food is excellent. I have tried several of their dishes. Nothing disappoints. The staff is all very welcoming, friendly, and courteous. The restaurant is very clean. The drinks are a must try.

The cheese enchiladas I ordered look like they had been under the heat lamp an hour or more.the tortillas were crisp and the cheese was beyond chewy. My chile Rellenos was supposed to be fried with an egg batter and was greasy, no egg, and the meat was greasy. All in all was SO DISAPPOINTED, we have Never seen this type of take out disaster! Can't even give them 1 star!!!!!

Worst service ever!! Maria was horrible. Maria brought guacamole to the table that had turned brown. I asked her to return it to the kitchen. Restaurant wanted me to pay for it even though it was returned. Wrong business for bad attitudes. I can choose where I spend my money and it's not here!!

I patronize this business often and today well most definitely be my last visit ..there was a BUG 🦟 in my margarita and I let my server know she tells me that bugs fly so I asked her for the manager ..he never came the server brought me a half margarita..at that point I didn’t want anything else so I proceeded to the register with my ticket to let him know I told him about the insect in my drink and he had the nerve to tell me and my mom not to come back..the service here is terrible and the workers were extremely rude just because I told them a bug was in my drink ..they could have just simply apologized or taken accountability for what happened but they chose to be rude and nasty 🤮

Although El Vecino has been around for awhile, we only discovered it about 6 months ago. We've now eaten there about 6 times & all have been excellent experiences. The chimachanga with shredded beef is the best I've ever tasted. And their take on the sopapilla is unlike any I've ever had. Highly recommend!

I stopped by Thursday evening for a frozen margarita. It was awful!!!

Had a funny taste!!!!!

Very strange limey, frothy instead of slushy, + $7.00

I don't know if their machine wasn't working or what.

I informed waitress I didn't like it, why it look so frothy, had a strange limey taste, she simply said, "that's our frozen margarita we serve", I simply said "thank you I won't be back , may I have my check "

Paid the $7,52, no tip!!!!!

I didn't eat anything, just wanted a good margarita!

Sadly I won't be back!!!!!!

Excellent place to eat, also quick with having GrubHub orders ready. The best tacos I've ever eaten came from this place. The top shelf margarita was excellent as well. Cannot recommend this place enough. 5vstar rating earned on all fronts. Will be returning again!!!

One of the best Traditional Mexican restaurants in the Birmingham area... Whether it's dine-in or take-out (honestly the take-out is just as fresh tasting) you can't beat their Enchiladas, Tacos, or Fajitas. I come here regularly and will continue to pick this restaurant over others whenever possible. The White cheese dip is phenomenal as well as the salsa. Give this place a try and you won't be sorry! Tell them Josh sent you and they will literally not know who you are talking about.... 😁🙃

My husband and I eat here at least twice a week if not more!! The employees are always friendly and attentive. The quality and quantity of food is a steal considering the prices are low. First I would like to start out by saying everyone was friendly, I have nothing bad to say about service. I just want to give an honest review on my food. My tamales were hard! The Masa was like a chip consistency. No sauce and little meat. I didn't know that was possible, im assuming they were old or over heated in a microwave. The food is mediocre at best, my whole table was unimpressed. The reviews saying it is the best Mexican restaurant leads me to believe noones been out of city or state lines. It was the worst I've ever tasted. Very cheap, and easy on the pockets. Wait time on food was fast.
