Los Amigos Mexican Restaurant

Had a great dinner on my first visit to this restaurant. Friendly staff and service were great. The food was just excellent and was served within 15 minutes. Will be back soon.

As we have a kid with us, we can’t get into a country show. We ended up here randomly and the food is pretty good. Large portion and good pricing.

Food is delicious. There are so many Mexican food in the area and I think there should be more diversity. Mexican or southern food. I am a bit tired.

Ambiance is party like. A good place to take friends and family. We got here during prime time and got a table for 8 easily. It’s not full place too.

Midday lunch at Los Amigos was okay. The margaritas were decent with 1800 tequila by request. The fajitas are a much smaller portion during lunch. The taco salad was quite big and loaded with ground beef. Very filling. All was seasoned well. It gets the job done locally in terms of Mexican food.

I came here Monday at 11am when they opened, my first time coming. My husband and I both ordered steak fajitas. It comes with 3 soft tortillas (obviously that's standard) I am not exaggerating when I say there was 6 very tiny shredded pieces of steak the size of a child's finger and a scarce amount of veggies. It was enough to fill 1 tortilla. I would say that the pricing and food portions are completely off. I originally wanted birra tacos which was 2 dollars more than my fajitas ($18.95). I was not going to pay 20$ for 3 small tacos with no sides. Waiters posted up against the wall and had to be flagged down. Nice employees but service was sub par and portion size/prices were out of control.

Beautifully curated space. Excellent service done by real people. Feels like a good place to be. The quesabirria and chicken chimichanga are well made. Good place to drop in anytime they're open and you're around.

This may sound snobby. The restarant was extremely visually appeleing. The service was out standing. This is definitely subjective, but I found the entrees had an unusual, unappetizing flavor that made the food practically inedible. I think the sauce was the culprit. It was mixed with cheese on top of one dish (4 enchiladas - cheese, chicken, beef and spinach) and on the side with the other (two tamales). The sauce that came on the side was a thin, and muddy orange in color. I would compare it to what Tabasco sauce looks like. It tastes dull with a sanitized, plastic aftertaste. But that's just my opinion. Apparantly it wasn't running customers off because the restaurant was crowded with people who seemed to be enjoying the place.

Smaller portions than you would expect for the price but very good! Loved the queso. Beautiful atmosphere too! My only true complaint is parking! Be prepared for a walk.

I just learned that they will mess up your order and not offer to remake it/correct it if you’re not a white man or woman. I told my server my order was wrong due to her or kitchen error and her response was, I’m sorry. The sad part is, if I walk out without paying or get upset. I’ll be in the wrong, the police will be called on me, when they are the people that made the mistake.

They went above and beyond. Placed a pickup order through the app DoorDash has on their website. Turns out they do not even work with DoorDash and my order was never received, yet I was charged from DoorDash. Employees let me know the situation (and that this happens several times a month- they are having to pay to get a new website because DoorDash will not help them) they gave me my order for free and were very kind.

Please go eat here and DO NOT use DoorDash to order.

As I’m leaving this review some of the employees are hitting empty tubs and singing happy birthday 🥹🥹 10/10 experience. Food was delicious and our server was so sweet. I asked for a chicken quesadilla with mushrooms, spinach and onions and he didn’t bat an eye. 😭 We love this place ❤️❤️❤️❤️

They had an advertisement stating that the Quesobirras were $8.99, but when it came to paying, the guy charged me $20. I asked about the advertisement and he said its starting at $8.99 which makes no sense since the advertisement clearly states thats its a lunch special monday-friday.

LOVE this restaurant. Glad I discovered them. Food is soooo good and authentic. Love the decor and music that matches the culture. Will definitely be a regular. I heard they have mariachis on Friday evenings!

Horrible service. Waited an hour and never got food. Could not get cheese dip. Went to counter to pay for our two drinks and leave. Took 10 minutes to figure out how to charge me and still got over charged. Awful service and poor uncaring management.

Asked for a table, hostess said it was 30 minutes. Zoe we asked if we could get a drink at the bar while we waited. She said there are two seats. Once we sat down, she crossed us off the list and said “you sat down at the bar so you don’t get a table. Not to mention that we paid $60 for two drinks. They put coke in my margarita. Don’t come here.

Had a really nice dinner with my oldest daughter at Los Amigos last night. Food selection was great, service was quick and courteous, drinks and food were on point. We are going back tonight and I plan on trying mole enchiladas. I highly recommend Los Amigos.

Went inside for a table. Hostess asked if we wanted bar or outside. I asked if we could be seated inside. Guy behind the counter was rude as hell. I even tried apologizing for confusion. We sat down and they brought salsa to the table. Barely had anything in it. We just got up and left. Won’t be back.

The food was very good and drinks were fantastic, but you definitely pay for it! A serving of chicken Hawaiian fajitas was $28 and the portion wasn’t very big. WAY over priced! My husband went there and had two med top shelf margaritas, small cheese dip, small guacamole and Hawaiian fajitas and our bill was over $70!

We typically get takeout. They do a good job of packing everything up. The food is exactly what I expect…good quality Tex mex food. It’s not spectacular, but it is consistently good. The chips are crisp and the salsa good but not spicy at all. Chicken enchiladas are what I often get.

We’ve been here many times. Today we arrived at 3:40 and were seated in the side room. We walked over to the main room to check twice and there were 4 or so waiters just sitting on the steps in the dining room talking and on their phones. At 4:00 it had been 20 minutes and we still hadn’t been checked on so we just left. Incredibly disappointing and because we had to be somewhere soon after, there wasn’t enough time to try and find another place to eat. We’ve been many times before without issue, but after this I don’t know that I want to come back any time soon. Completely ruined our entire afternoon and made us feel totally ignored and passed over. I hope no one else has an experience like we had.

I haven't been to Los Amigos since it moved from Forest Park. It's pretty much as I remembered though, just larger. The three of us were seated and served quickly, and the food was piping hot. Everyone enjoyed their dishes. Nothing was spectacular, but everything was tasty and portions were good. Our server was efficient and kept our water glasses full and chips fresh. Solid choice for Mexican comfort food.

One of my favorite Mexican places in Birmingham. Their quesadillas are some of my favorite in town, very cheesy and tasty. Only bummer is that they went up on their prices, which was one of my favorite parts about it. Quesadillas went up from $3.50 to $5.00, which isn't bad for what you get, but not as great as before.

I'd love to give this place more stars but it was such a odd experience. The restaurant is beautiful and spacious and since it was a nice day, we sat outside. The service was just service, not rude but not friendly either. The food was good, the drinks were good, however, I think the price was a bit high. But the service from beginning to end was just BLAH!

Food was great.. Waitress was an absolute GEM. Couldn't ask for better service. !!! When I return I will be sure she is my server again.!! Booth I was at lacked a bit of lighting but I managed. Los Amigos is one of the best Hispanic restaurants I have been to not a lot any better.. They had Hispanic servers and other staff. I won't even consider a Hispanic restaurant with Gringas as servers. Salsa and chips were awesome a bit spicy but nevertheless good... Be certain I will be coming back...

Ate dinner there with a large group mostly from Texas. We were pleasantly surprised by the excellent food and service. When a Mexican restaurant in Alabama can impress a bunch of Texans that's a place to go.

Check the lowest ratings before ordering. I wish someone told me. I ordered chicken shrimp and steak faitias. The food came out 5 minutes after I placed my order. The food had absolutely no seasoning. The chicken was over cooked. It couldn't have been freshly prepared. It was not good.

The food was barely passable. That is a $12.50 chicken quesadilla in my picture…It’s almost comical how bad the food was. The cheese was the kind that is so processed it sticks to your teeth all night. The salsa was old enough it had fermented.

I tried really hard to like this place but it just kept missing the mark.. margarita tasted days old and way weak. I asked for a double. Chips were ok. Only one salsa nothing with a ton of kick to it. Fajitas were passable but portion was not. Cute place but way better food and service close by.

Cool decor and good food. I had the chicken taco salad which was great but would've been over the top with a little pico de gallo. Unfortunately our waiter disappeared and never returned to check on us or bring more drinks. It was past the lunch rush so I'm not sure what happened there.

Okay, we are visiting from chicago and the food is just okay, i ordered a steak burrito and i got what looked like a enchilado with nothing else, the steak was well seasoned but it was kind of chewy and it was freezing cold in there, i guess u have to live here to love it.

This place is okay. They start you off with really good salsa and chips and their rice is better than most Mexican restaurants. Skip ordering water as it has a harsh taste. The tamales were strange but came with a flavorful sauce to pour over them. I didn't feel welcomed but lots of people came through there so it's clearly a popular place.

The server wasn't the kindest person but she did what she could. We had one server for 12 people. She didn't smile not one time or greet us happily.

Awful and disgusting service over the phone. I was inquiring about a dish, server over the phone laughed at me and called me a “cheapskate” before hanging up in my face. All because I changed my mind about what I wanted. I can assure you there is nothing cheap about me. I did not get a name but I WILL be speaking to your manager. Let’s see how bold you are then.
