Just had a great meal and a great experience here. Andrea took care of me and was very courteous and welcoming. I had the lunch fajitas plus small queso. The salsa is really good, just the right heat for me. I can't believe I've never been here, but I'll be back! It's a beautiful place that has a separate bar and lots of room if you want to bring a crowd. The owner said she has been in business there 28 years..

Great service. Quick table service. We ordered the steak burrito w/ verde sauce, cheese enchilada,, and grilled tilapia. The food was okay. We also tried the queso dip which has a hint of spice. The rice was a little overcooked for our taste and could do without the peas and carrots.

Absolutely fantastic! This place is a hidden gem! We've been a few times. Taco salad amazing chimichanga 10/10 cheese dip amazing my husband had the tamales amazing! Best Mexican in town hands down! Do yourself a favor and come here!!

Called 3 times to order takeout & nobody answered the phone. I went ahead and drove down there & yes, they were open for business.

Picked up dinner from here tonight and everything was delicious! We ordered the Veggie Burrito, Chicken Quesadillas Dinner, Fish Tacos, and Seafood Tacos. The Seafood Tacos come with a special hot sauce and it’s delicious. We can’t wait to come back!

Update: Got there a little late but wasn't too sure what time they closed, had a good meal, and were the last to leave by about 5 minutes, about 15 minutes after they closed, I think, bc the server never said anything to indicate they were closing. When we got up to leave our little brace faced server said "a Dios mio", which means My God! We were pretty disgusted. The owner, which we'd known for 30+ years, was quite nice and recognized us but I don'tthinkshe heard the comment. Underhand comments like this can ruin places. Get a clue, ur not the only one that speaks Spanish!

Wonderful food! Great staff! Very reasonably priced! I highly recommend this Mexican restaurant. We always have special order requests for our various diets, and they nailed it. All dishes were correct a d delicious. Our server was attentive and got everything right! Kudos Zapatas!

Have been getting take out for several years, foods always been just ok prices keep going up and I understand .Just ordered and repeated my order twice , the order was wrong and they tried to short me on my change. Called back thinking they would make it right next time, they argued with me and said I was wrong.won't be a next time will Never eat there again if I could give negative stars I would.

Best Texmex I've found in the Birmingham area!

I came from Texas where there's a high bar set on Mexican food,.and this place pleasantly surprised me.

The enchiladas, burritos, & fajitas are all top-notch! I always get one of their combo platters, which are very reasonably priced...but another fave is the quesadilla dinner. It's got their delicious cheese sauce poured over it. MMM

The staff is super friendly & it's got a nice, cozy feel to the dining room. The prices are pretty reasonable too.

Highly recommend! Get a pitcher of margaritas if you go

Everyone always shows you how pretty a plate looks. I wanted to show you how good everything was. If you go here, you'll clean your plate too.

The food was so good that I get to nit pick. A little too much chili powder in the tamale and the Margherita was a little too sweet. That's it, that's all I can complain about because it was that good.

AND THAT CHEESE! I swear they shredded the cheese over the top of my food because it was so fresh, smooth and flavorful.

From the chips & salsa to the refried beans, this was amazing!

Husband and I stopped in the area while on a road trip. We ordered the Texas fajitas for 2 and chorizo nachos. Food was absolutely delicious and the portions were very generous!!! Definitely and highly recommend!

Three years later.......Same review b/c this place is still awesome! Great customer service. The food is very good. The wait is not very long. Veggie burritos and taco salads are my favorites there. Of course the cheese dip is amazing! I have been visiting this place for 10 years and it is consistent and reasonably priced and a good place to go.

I brought my daughter to Zapatas for dinner before she leaves going back to Philadelphia. This was the worse food I have ever eaten in a Mexican restaurant. The crispy shell tacos were stale and the tamale was so hard it could have cracked my teeth trying to eat it.
When I told them about the tacos I, (ordered 2) was told they got soft from the meat. They replaced one. I had one chicken and one beef. They chose 1 to replace.
When I asked to speak to the manager, I was told she cooked my food. So she never came!
Never again will I come hete
1.They need to speak English
2.Have better cooks
3. Have better customer service

My ten-year-old son removed the lid from his drink to eat some ice at the end of our meal and found a DROWNED COCKROACH on the inside of the lid. Adding insult to injury, the manager offered to refund the price of the drink(!!), then grudgingly knocked about $5 off our check when I complained. They should have paid ME for this nasty, disgusting experience. God only knows what else we ingested without knowing! 🤢🤮

We tried to place out for the first time this weekend. It was pretty good, I would go back again. The service was quick and thoughtful, we were not too crazy about the salsa. Not a big deal as everyone has different taste preferences, we just weren’t fans. The food was fast and hot, nice atmosphere on the inside.

I went for lunch with friends and the margarita special did not have prices and was 13$. The food was great and the staff was very nice. 2 stars given not 3 or 4 because it wasn't even busy there were maybe 2 other people at that time for lunch as well, but it took forever to get our drinks, order, actually get our food, and to get our checks to leave. Luckily I didn't have a busy day so it was fine, but it wasn't us being impatient, it was lunch on a Wednesday and they were just completely slow. Not a big deal for us, but it wasn't that great of service due to how slow it was. The food was wonderful and staff very nice, but wouldn't recommend going to lunch on a Wednesday if you don't have over an hour.

We order from Zapatas at least once a week.... I have to say.. this is THE BEST food I have put in my mouth! The MOST amazing, tasteful guacamole and fajita quesadillas that I have ever put in my mouth! GO, ORDER, GET THE FOOD and ENJOY!
