It was my family's and my first time visiting this restaurant. The waiter was pleasant and the initial food was good. (House salsa and fresh chips). We ordered our entrees and received them promptly. The problem was that the rice the 3 of us received was rancid. I thought some cheese was added for the smell, but one of us got plain white rice. The rice smelled like feet! After leaving, we started to Google why the rice smelled like feet. The first search result was "rancid" rice. The cause was the rice had been sitting out too long or had been refrigerated for more than 4 days. Bad review for the reason that we could have gotten food poisoning. The cafe looked nice and had many options on the menu.

Check your bill, keep your receipt and check your bank statement. We've now had two issues, one several years ago of an attempt to add to our bill (the owner was the one handling our payment) which we caught in the restaurant and most recently $10 being added to a gratuity when we had already given a $10 tip on a $30 bill. The problem doesn't appear to be with the waitstaff. We've been here countless times and it has been a favorite, but we won't be back.

Enchiladas were good. I would skip the street corn dip. The description said it is charred corn, but it seemed like corn out of a can.

A hidden gem of a place. Decor is slightly neutral but food is fabulous. Like most places they could use more staff but Go Early before the rush. We had great service as we watched the restaurant fill up with people. I have never had French Fries at a Mexican restaurant before but the Carne Asada Steak Fries were out of this world good. Highly recommend. Go weekday evening or Go Early on the weekends.

A sign said wait to be seated. I waited but no one came I sat myself down and a server made a remark about it. Waiter asked for my drink order and brought it but no menu. I had to ask for one. He brought my food but no silverware. Had to ask for some as did others. They were not busy.

The steak & shrimp flatiron is great. If you like a subtle kick of heat with bursting flavor inside of a crunchy outer layer of quesadilla then this will not disappoint. The wife is vegan so they accommodated her needs quite well. Her vegan chimichange was really good.

Good food, but disgusting environment. I watched half empty glasses of water poured back into the fountain- sometimes lemons and straws would have to be fished back out. One of the cooks bleeds a lot and never seems to notice it until someone else points it out. Just random blood spots all over the kitchen. When a shrimp relleno was served to a woman with a severe shellfish allergy, he didn't seem to care.

The food is so bland. The salsa is just crushed up tomatoes and cilantro. The taco shells are way too thick and overcooked. The taco meat is also flavorless. I will say that the spicy ranch(?) slaps though. The chips were stale and the queso was a weird chunky consistency and also had no flavor. I’ve had this food catered in numerous times from drug reps in the area.

I can’t speak on the atmosphere or service of the restaurant because I have never dined in.

Hey Dothan! If you haven’t eaten here yet, you’re missing out on the best Mexican food in town! I can’t figure out why this restaurant wasn’t more crowded on a Friday night than it was. It may the be unassuming location, off the beaten path that doesn’t bring in the traffic, I don’t know. But the food was delicious, presentation was on point, service was friendly and fast and the ambiance is fabulous- nice music, white linen table covers, pleasant decor. The chocolate gooey cake is amazing, too! Give it a try and you won’t be disappointed!

Food was ok. It was nothing I would every crave or want again. Service was ok. What was really disappointing was spending over $40 (with tax and tip), for two people to eat lunch. We had a chicken quesadilla and a chicken tostada and drank WATER. We ordered queso cheese dip, but was totally shocked seeing they charged us $9 for the bowl (really, wow...). To make matters worse the menu prices were not the "real" prices. When I brought this to their attention, they said "you didnt see the note on the front of the menu"? I am a very fare person, but if you are going to charge $9 for a bowl of warm cheese, you can take some of that profit to reprint the menu's. My wife and I went here years and years ago when they first opened. I cant remember why we haven't returned for years, but after todays lunch I can give a good guess. My advise is if you want Mexican (or texmex or whatever), go somewhere else...

My current favorite restaurant. Food is authentic, delicious, and plentiful. Prices are very reasonable. Atmosphere is perfect. I just joined the cult of huevos rancheros; it was marvelous, and this from a person who can't get food too done. Maybe a little low key and nuanced for the lil'uns (works for me!). We went here on a Saturday night about a week ago. We were going to go to La Parilla, however, there was an hour wait. We decided that this would be the ideal time to try the Cactus Flower as we had been eyeing it for some time. We pulled up and the parking lot was fairly empty. We wondered if this was a sign. It was. Speaking of signs, there was one in the window stating that they were looking for help. They definitely needed it. We were seated in a booth. But not before having to wait for the family in the booth behind us to have their 10(ish) y/o child pack up nearly all of his belongings to open the booth up for us. We then waited for a while for the waitress to come. We made our order of Soda Waters for our family of 4 and also requested queso. Eventually our drinks came as well as chips and salsa. She came back and took our food orders. I finally realized that they had forgotten the queso. However, our waitress never came back. Our food finally came out. It was delivered by a man that did not seat us and was not our female waitress. I explained that I believed our queso had been forgotten and also asked if they had a super spicy hot sauce. He said he would check and let me know. I then asked that he just bring the spiciest that he had. He agreed that he would. The female waitress finally came back with a bowl of queso and profusely apologized. She offered to make it free. We declined. We were just happy to have it. Until we tasted it. Well, not really tasted--there WAS no taste. It was weirdly flavorless. It also had a curious consistency. Almost like it was mixed from powder and water. Regardless it was NOT GOOD. The bright spot is that the food was generally pretty good. However, sadly, this was not enough to warrant a return visit. At the end of the meal, the host/waiter that seated us came and took some plates. They asked if we wanted a bowl to take the full queso home in. We declined. They could keep that. SMH. I explained that the hot sauce I had requested never did come out. He proceeded to ignore me and tell my wife that the tomatillo they brought her set his mouth on fire because it was so spicy. (It really wasn't) So, he deflected my comment and then made it about him and their NON-SPICY tomatillo. To top it off, the ticket came and it was 62.70. I had Mahi Tacos, my wife had 3 steak tacos and the girls had chicken tenders and a chicken quesadilla with fries. Coupled with the SODA WATERS (non-alcoholic) I was shocked. Bottom line here, after a much- smaller-than-our-usual-percentage-due-to-the-service tip, I paid 72.00 to be unhappy. Think about that: I PAID someone 72.00 to make me unhappy. Think twice about coming here.

Great food, just not Mexican food. I was very excited, being from Tucson and seeing the name, but after trying the fish tacos and the chichanga, I was confused. The chimi was fried to taste like a croissant, folded like a crunch wrap supreme from taco bell and loaded with the best cheese I've had in a while. It just felt too asian and European. It was delicious, just not Mexican. Hopefully someone who loves Mexican food reads this so they can try it and we can talk about it.

"California Style" is a straight up lie. You can barely call it real Mexican cuisine. The salsa was water and tomatoes. The burrito had no cheese and Indian basmati rice (not what Cali burritos use). The tacos overly used lemon the refried beans were straight out of a can. The side of rice was extremely undercooked if not raw. Noone in Cali serves a burrito with a chunk yes a CHUNK of tomatoes with some lettuce and parietal cheese. This is bogus most likely not returning because the menu and the basics of Mexican cuisine was sadly skipped as someone from a Mexican household in Cali this was a disgrace. Hopefully the owner reads this and corrects the menu to use ACTUAL Mexican food

The food was slightly above room temperature so it’s hard for me to give a great review even though I wish I could. We didn’t have to wait long to be served so that shouldn’t have attributed to food temperature. Appeared to be about six tables occupied but only one server. Salsa was tomato centered verses say cilantro with no spicy heat (jalapeño) and the food was quite salty. Place has possibilities but...

Love the rice bowl. Nice place, nice atmosphere. Always a great freshly prepared meal. And the portions are ginormous. 2 meals in one. Yum yum.

One of my favorite places to eat although I was disappointed for the first time today their tortilla soup is the reason I come lol and today it was so salty I almost couldn't eat it I will chalk it up as a bad batch but other than that the food is very good

Good mexican food that has a California flair. They are a step up from the fast food and a little less rushed. Portions are generous.

One of my favorite restaurants in Dothan! If you want Mexican food, but are tired of the super heavy stuff, this place is for you!
