The food was so great, that we came back for a second day on our two day trip to UNA. The fajitas lunch specials were cooked to perfection and plenty. The street tacos were great. The Al pastor tacos were very good. The burrito was great. The chips and salsa were good. The cheese dip was good. The service was fast, and friendly.

My favorite Mexican place in town. Good food and they have nice deals. Taco Tuesday is a great deal and the buffet is a wonderful way to indulge in variety.
My only complaints about Pollito are 1. The server called Nancy is rude and ignores us. Everyone else is lovely. We just seem to get unlucky enough to get stuck with her often.
2. They need to watch what they put on the TV's. We've gone in a few times and had to hard distract ourselves because there was disturbing content on the TV's. Maybe put on Mexican music videos or something guys. The crime stuff and news are too upsetting for a lot of people these days. We saw a guy getting his face beat in while trying to have a taco. Still trying to forget that imagery. I don't want this to become a place I love but avoid because of what's on the TVs.

The ice cream offerings are also amazing for dessert. They should really make a dessert menu so more people know about the ice cream bar! It's so good!

We come to this restaurant about once a week. Food is always great, as well as the service. But I wanted to mention Will by name tonight. His service was excellent! And frankly the best service we’ve had in years. Not to mention he pours a mean beer!

Easily my favorite place to go grab local Mexican cuisine. The owner and the staff are fantastic and always go above and beyond to make sure we are taken care of. The environment is great, restaurant is clean and food/drinks are phenomenal. Pollito has our vote, every time. ¡Viva la Jorge! 🔥

We went Taco Tuesday. I got the carne asada El pastor and chorizo tacos but I deleted the picture on accident. The wife had pina loca. It's El Pastor in a pineapple cut in half. It was good also.

So disappointed, another texmex restaurant. This is not authentic Mexican food, I ordered Steak Tampiqueña, and it was not even close to the real one, the thinnest t-bone with no flavor. The steak quesadillas were so simple, barely had cheese, and, the Agua Fresca, you paid 4.25 for a full glass of ice with no refills. Small fish as well, price is as at any other place

I've only had the authentic tacos here, but they are very good. Definitely worth hitting up.

Update - I tried the Mexican burger, and it was pretty good 👍

I wouldn't normally get a burger at a Mexican place, but a friend recommended it to me, and it was solid! And the fries were better than most burger places! I do wish the burger had some more Mexican spices on it, or some grilled sliced jalapenos or habaneros, but it was still good.

UPDATE…… 2024 I have tried giving the benefit of doubt. Went there about 2 weeks ago. Our waiter was in too big of a rush to go back and talk to coworkers than actually listen to our order which was steak and chicken fajitas nachos, came out with just chicken and steak nachos, also cheese dip had hair in it. They have turned in to greedy people since moving to the big restaurant. You can make money and not be greedy!

Hadn't been in awhile, but so glad to be back and to bring friends that are from out of town and had never been. They used to live in Mexico.

My only disappointment is that it cost $3.99 for avocado to go on a taco. We did that for 2 and it was 3.99 x2. So $8 for what was less than half an avocado altogether. Maybe 1/2 or 3/4 of an avo.
Will probably skip avocado next time. I grew up with avo trees in south Florida, so paying $8 for avo seems outrageous.

The margaritas are excellent.
We both got watermelon margs and substituted for Herradurra rather than well tequila and they were $10.99 each. A fair price, I reckon🍉

Oh, one other minor disappointment is that we ordered two Herradurra shots towards the end and qet didn't get them. The next time the waiter came back were then told that it was too late according to the bartender since he was closing up, so we paid our check without the shots we wanted for my 40th bday.

Everything else was positive.
The server was really nice and helpful. We will def be back!

WE LOVE THESE PEOPLE!!!! This is by far our favorite place for delicious and huge variety of flavor! If you like hot salsa ask for the extra hot! They are always on top of their game. I have been a customer since opening day! And I LOVE this team!

This was our first visit (late lunch on Tues). Only a few other customers were in the restaurant. The staff members were very pleasant and professional . . . quick to greet, quick to bring chips & salsa & menus. The waiter took our orders for drinks and food as soon as we were ready. The food came out quickly and was hot. The food was also good with large portions. The place was very clean.

Hands down the best Mexican Restaurant in the area. You can tell the pride and attention to detail that is taken to provide the best and fresh ingredients with a great atmosphere. Don't let the full parking lot fool you, they get you seated and served quickly!

Got a steak fajita and the vegetables were really soggy, the steak was dry and the a crazy about of grease. This tell me that this was prepared atleast a day or two prior and then just heated up in a microwave. If I'm gonna spend that much on food I want it fresh or I'd just make it myself.

We thoroughly enjoy EPL! The staff is friendly yet professional. The atmosphere is relaxed and convivial. Our current favorite is mojarra frita, but the enchiladas and fajitas are great as well. We like the flautas deluxe appetizer.

Myself and my friends go to El Pollito Loco (EPL) probably 3 times a week when school is in session at UNA. Everything from the Chorizo and Carnitas Authentic Tacos to the Molcajete Bowls are to die for. The margaritas are strong and flavorful. The staff is extremely nice, clean, and efficient at their job. Lunch or Dinner, this is my favorite restaurant to go to. $9.50 out the door *including 20% tip* for lunch is an absolute steal!!! 10/10!

Excellent service. Good chips and salsa. Steak fajitas meat was chopped tiny like hash and had lots of gristle. My chicken taco salad turned to soup and was non edible. Under other circumstances I would have returned my meal, but I was tired, disgusted with my food, and left in a hurry.

Probably the most authentic Mexican food you can find in the Shoals- my boyfriend and I love it and try to visit every Taco Tuesday. The service is friendly as well and the atmosphere is fun and laid back. 100% recommend!

Everything I've had from here has been delicious! My favorite is the shrimp taco salad! My husband loves the authentic tacos. You can't go wrong with whatever you decide. Great place and highly recommended

Sometimes high star ratings don't mean they are true but this time, this one is really accurate. The salsa and chips are good. Prices to portions are fair and their (lunch menu) food's really good too. Waitresses were attentive and friendly, there's really nothing i didn't like bout it at all. Definitely coming back again to try something else the next time. P.S Menu prices were still accurate so i didn't upload any.

Once was great until they grew and moved into the large building . Now the food seems to be the least of priorities now that they have alcohol sales . I do not know the details of the kitchen staff but it hasn’t been good since they now have cooks that do not have the same vested in the business the owner had when it was a small place with seating for maybe 6 at which time it was the best place in town to eat . Over the last two years I have gone back multiple times thinking maybe it was just a bad day for them or maybe it was 3/16/23
Decided to go back for another shot after talking to some friends and found out the owner was back overseeing the kitchen and it was 100 percent true, I didn’t see him but the food was how it used to be which was 10/10. I’m glad they are back to how they used to be because this was always my favorite place with the best food and best staff in town.

just me but after many many second chances I’d say if you want great service go here if you want good food go somewhere else . I really like the owner and the original staff but it’s time to cut ties hurt feelings or not , just being honest to them and the people that read my reviews . I wish this place the Best Buy for me tonight was my last 27th second chance.
