Woodmont subdivision had our weekly dinner here last night ! Lizzy was so great with us ! And many other staff were on top of everything! We loved the food & drinks ! Atmosphere was awesome, love the colorful chandeliers! Very friendly staff ! Can’t wait to go back !

The food has changed we decided to give them one more chance ..mine was good but hubby's was awful..steak fajitas with big chunks of tough meat , raw peppers , no tomatoes and a few onions..we are so disappointed as this is his favorite meal..won't be back

Just moved to Gulf Shores from San Diego and had been pretty bummed about the Mexican food scene down here - until I found this place.

First, it’s absolutely gorgeous on the inside, almost shockingly so.

The service was great, all the staff were very friendly.

This was the first place down here where I got an honest to god michelada and it was amazing.

We had the ceviche and carnitas plate and both were as good as you’re going to find down here.

The bar was great, tons of tvs, bright and clean interior.

I will be coming back here often.

Excellent ghost pepper margaritas! Get the Raspberry. My daughter got the classic, which was very good, but I think mine was better! Also the chips and Salsa were great, but the cheese dip was to die for.! Was good on the shredded chicken quesadilla.

After reading the reviews, we almost didn't stop here. I'm so glad we did. The food is very tasty, and the prices were in line with other restaurants. The margaritas were made to order and tasted as margaritas should.

This was definitely a real Mexican spot. The food was really authentic and the service was decent. The waitress could've given us more information when asking if I wanted the rice and beans as if it came with the meal because once we got the ticket, we paid $3 for both sides that I didn't even eat so it became her tip. Then she tried to slide a unsw tea on there when we only got 2 waters. We had to ask her 3 times for plastic utensils and she seemed high. She was nice though and she definitely checked on us a lot.

This restaurant is amazing! Newly redecorated, the food is excellent and they soon will be serving fresh made tortillas inhouse! Service is good. Have to see it, it's like a totally different restaurant! Shredded beef is outstanding!

After reading the reviews, we almost didn't stop here. I'm so glad we did. The food is very tasty, and the prices were in line with other restaurants. The margaritas were made to order and tasted as margaritas should.

If you like to look at your food and not taste it this is the place for you... They spent all their budget on decorations I think cause I ordered the side queso and side guac both unimpressive guac was pretty but bland my son ordered ground beef chimichanga meat was bland and they dumped queso on top of an already soggy chimichanga so oily meat filled pocket covered in cheese is the best way I can describe that...I ordered the beef and shrimp fajitas which the waitress(whom I assume speaks very lil English and that's somewhat ok until you need to complain, which I did and she just smiled... Lol anyways) she suggested saying the meat was very good... They came and surprise surprise... Bland!😩 steak was beautiful shrimp was cooked perfectly just everything had no flavor sitting on top of vegetables all I could taste was oil and the grill... The tortillas were nasty and dry I got corn and ordered a side of flour which were toasted and crunchy... At this point I gave up and ate the meat alone and ordered another modelo while the kids finished the chips... The portion for what you pay here is SOOOOOO not worth it especially since the flavor is not there, I couldn't taste anting I left there thinking I might need a COVID test then I remembered the modelo had taste lol. I feel bad for even trying this place.... Back to Agave I ran!

Only reason I have them 4 stars was price. Our server was great. But prices were high, very high, to other Mexican restaurants I've been to. I could get exact same dish, name and all, at 2 other restaurants I've been to recently but they where $4 and $5 more in price here. If their prices were more I'm line I could eat here a couple of times a week. Everything else was wonderful.

Many many people that live here wish you wouldn’t have changed. The remodel looks great but everything else that came with it is subpar. The prices are raised. The quality is down. Drinks have more flair but less alcohol. Used to be crowded on a Saturday but since there’s only a few people during what used to be Margarita special day, there will be no more wait at the door so your hostesses can relax. There’s a positive. Loved coming there for family birthdays but we’ll find somewhere else. Good luck with your 10% price increase and 50% attendance decrease. Sincerely, Foley

While the decor and atmosphere was superb I must say I was disappointed that the prices went up and the quantity went down. A good margarita but sadly I will not be back and have been going for yrs. If I order a burrito Supreme I expect it to be just that instead of the size of a hotpocket. Food tasted good but I left hungry. 😩

Atmosphere is top notch! Clean and fun! Very spacious! Our server was Parrita and she was very kind, patient (as we have a 2 year old throwing food) , and attentive! Our chip basket and drinks stayed full! Food was good- wouldn’t rave about it but I always leave a Mexican restaurant satisfied! Good experience overall! Will be back!

Music was nice since it was merengue. Food portion was good too. Kind of pricey tho. The carne asada plate was okay. The steak was little and didn't have too much flavor. I order the mojarra and was very good. The frijoles charros were amazing. Street tacos asada was good and good portion too. Agua de horchata was not good at alla but the agua de pina was so refreshing and delicious. Our server was super nice, forgot her name.

First off I have been dining at Vallarta for over 25 years, starting in their original location where the bank is now. It was our fav for many many years. In the past couple of years it has gone downhill and prices through the roof. The salsa which used to be my favorite has changed, it’s sweet and chunky now. Sadly, it has only gotten worse with the new partnership with Pedro’s. The fajitas have huge chunks of meat (too large for a tortilla), and the veggies are WAY too salty. Food quality just isn’t there anymore. Sad to see such a great family owned establishment go down. End of an era.

This is the best restaurant in town, and since the update the atmosphere is amazing! We did the table guac, it was fabulous!! All of our food tonight was so good!! I had street tacos and my husband had the Birria tacos. 🥰 The margarita flights are so festive and taste even better than they look!! 🤤 Fernando is hands down our favorite waiter, he’s so nice, makes sure we never are needing anything! Fernando goes out of his way to make sure every experience is top notch!

**Edit*this used to be our favorite restaurant in Foley. We just went since it opened up under New Management, sadly the food is not anywhere close to the quality and flavor as it was before. The renovation is absolutely beautiful and the staff was great but the food was not good at all.... The cheese in my chili relleno was like coagulated and separating. The rise did not taste near fresh... Very disappointing

We've been coming here for 9 years and it was absolutely our favorite place to eat! Not anymore!! The Mexican Guacamole was amazing! New Management, which is the owners daughter, flat out lied, she said its still the same as before, but was much better. She said they just changed the name to Guacamole instead of Mexican Guacamole. Definitely NOT they same, the one before had chunks of Guacamole, Cilantro, Pico and good seasoning. The "new" was just mushy Guacamole with a little Pico on top. Not to mention how horrible the new salsa is! Before we knew most all the friendly staff and we only saw one lady that we recognized and she hasn't even been there that long. Definitely very disappointed. Why change what isn't broken. I see their business not doing very well in the future, but wish them the best. Guess we'll be looking for a new favorite. 😭

Haven't had issues with Vallarta before, but this time, yikes. There are no tortillas in the bags that we bought to go. The food is burnt, and veggies are raw and blackened. The chips are stale. Did something happen lately for it to go downhill so fast?

Been comming here for a while and they have change hands. Walked in dead roach in the floor. They set us down and for got us . I had to finally had to stop some one to take our order . We set so long we knew what we wanted order cheese dip while waiting on the food and ice tea and my husband had a marqurita. The bought the food and drinks and cheese dip all at once. It would have been nice to have the drinks and dip before they served the dinner. The waitress act like she hurried us because we set so long waiting on them to service us .my husband was trying to drink that big marqurita . I had to tell her give us time to finish our drinks.The food wasn’t as great as it use to be.

Been coming here for almost 15 years. The food was outstanding the drinks were impeccable. The absolute best service. New management recently took over, and instead of a heart-connected family operation, we are now looking at a corporation. I returned my food, couldn't stand my drink. It tasted like high fructose, corn syrup. Zero buzz. Same price. My heart goes out to staff members, one who was let go on the spot as I ate my meal. (I reordered) His rent is due in a matter of days. . That's not how you treat family. Zero loyalty to long term employees.

Really enjoyed this restaurant for 4 years…. Often 2x a week. But recently Vallarta was renovated and the place looks more like a lamp store than a restaurant. Maybe 200 mix and match ceiling fixtures and they took down beautiful hand painted art by a member of the Vallarta family, and replaced and repainted w operating room white. Like a food place at the airport or mall. Surprised to find cauliflower and broccoli and CANNED CARROTS in fajitas. I enjoyed the Margaritas for years, but now they are watered down and they add 2x the sugar - w less alcohol . Can’t speak w my friends without needing to shout over music. What is going on? I will miss Andrew and Tere and Silver. I’ll stick w El Paso, where there is a happier vibe

Ok, I absolutely use to love coming here, and the cook was great the food was wonderful , but they just renovated and have changed the food in the process . I'm so disappointed 7/19 /24 the chicken was dry , vegetables burned , no cheese on vegetables. The new manager needs to stop ,and not change the food nor the cooks . Soft tacos were not seasoned , cold shrimp . Very sad !!!

July 4 open! Plus plus! Speedy take out. Love the Palo Loco. The chicken was carved my favorite, good flavor tender and fresh. Fajitas were just as satisfying. Tortillas weren't in our bag but a extra rice beans were, so if they were compensating; that was nice. Salsa good also.

When ordering fajitas for two, price was listed 36.95. I asked if this was the price for any of the names listed. She acknowledged price was for 2 people. When Bill came they added 6.00 for the shrimp fajitas. When ordering, I said right in front of her that it would be a savings of 6 or so dollars if we ordered the dinner for 2. When I confronted the waitress, she very abruptly said "the menu says it". I said to her we didn't see it said that, that's why I questioned you before ordering. Her sweet demeanor changed and took the bill to be paid. Disappointing that people are so dishonest.

I visited just after lunchtime. The place wasn't busy, only about 10- 12 patrons.
I had the tamale plate, with rice, and refried beans, a large bowl of tortillas, and a mild dish of mild sauce. The sauce was good, but coming from NM, it was not spicy as I would have liked.
The meal was ample for a take-home second dinner.
Service was good, served warm, and pretty fast.
Overall food and customer service was very good.
The restaurant is located right off McKenzie, with fair parking.
The atmosphere was nice with Spanish decorations and Spanish music, which I liked.

Vallarta used to be my family's go-to Mexican restaurant in Baldwin County. We had been eating at Vallarta's for more than 20 years. Their food was always fantastic. Obviously, if we had been going there for 20 years, we felt it was the best. But that's not the case anymore. I don't know what has happened over the past couple of years, but their service and their food have gone downhill. I used to get cravings for their salsa, but they changed the recipe, and it's absolutely terrible. It has some kind of little chunky green things in it, and it is extremely sweet now. Needless to say, since they started to change things, we haven't been back.

First off, I love Vallartas. Will still continue to come. I love the food and margaritas, but 2 visits in a row the restaurant did not have their stuff together. A hostess that told us to wait 30 min on an empty restaurant, only because she wasn't paying attention. Then today, lunch menu ends at 3, sat drank and ate 4 baskets of chips by the time she took out order, (in an empty restaurant) but then came back and said it's too late for that menu, after we have been here an hr just waiting. It's not the servers. Maybe management or front of restaurant. I'll still come, but come on guys! Y'all were packed everyday before new owners! This part is an edit on 12/26/23 the new owners are going to run this place into the ground! 1 server??? Also why did your margarita prices skyrocket???? Tequila is same price as 2007 when a pitcher of margarita was $15! Can you explain why it is $42.99 now??? This place was always known as a place for good food, reasonable drinks, good service and fun. I would have kept coming back until I seen menu tonight. You're prices are insane for a different menu, and food is just ok. But the increase on a pitcher or margarita is highway robbery, it's not evta decent margarita?? Can you please explain why price is so High, but quality is horrible?? Y'all will go bankrupt, maybe the old owners will buy it back dirt cheap. It's a sad day when someone would rather go somewhere else for Mexican. Y'all were always my favorite restaurant, but let me down for the last time. Guess that's why y'all rarely have business anymore. SMH so disappointed in you

Great lunch experience! I had the Plato Tapatio and it was AWESOME!! The lady that helped me with my order was super nice. DEFINITELY returning to Vallarta's!

First off I’m a local and eat out regularly in the area.

Decent food but on 3rd visit the server ruined it for me. Asked for a small guac (explicitly said I don’t want the $10 large guac) and he brought me a large and insisted to charge me for the large even though he acknowledged, I asked for a small... after the fact, once the bill was written, he felt that was the right time to tell me they didn't offer a small. I told him explicitly I didn’t want the $10 large size, Choosing not to argue I simply let him know that I was a fairly new loyal customer who typically tipped decent, but since he was being argumentative, he could deal with the $2.50 that was left over from the 40.

Instead of the decent tip I gave to my server Andrew the 2 previous visits he got $2.50 and he directed me to talk to a manager and I reminded him he knew I asked for small and could get with Anthony to see how I'd tipped him the previous night. Called later in the day spoke with Andrew when I asked for a manager, never got a follow up…

Great way to burn a super loyal customer who gets protein after the gym @ planet up the street daily (usually from chipotle)

Food might be good but if your service is awful and your servers are just trying to jam more $ on my bill for a bigger tip, I'll never return.

Love this place they have a nacho platter that is awesome called nacho locos Shrimp, chicken, and steak and all the things you put on nachos. Under $20 and it's enough for me and my man.

Pretty darn good. A little on the high side price wise. Service was acceptable. Food was very good.

Update 11/24/2023: Went tonight and it was some of the worst service we have gotten in this entire area. We live here and eat out often so saying this was bad is saying a lot. There were lots of people working and it wasn't busy at all. Staff just stood around. Had to ask for our drinks twice. Food came quick and then we had to go to the desk to get a bill after waiting for 15 minutes. It would have been one thing if they were busy, but not even close. Staff just standing around talking and not working their tables. Salsa was good and the food was decent.
