The menu is large with a full range of options.
Our menus were dirty and needed a deep cleaning.
The service was fast and attentive. The servers this evening were in street clothes and indistinguishable from the patrons.
First off, the large guacamole is enough for four people. It did not appear “just made” but made fresh.
The chips and salsa are bottomless and some of the best you’ll find in these parts.
The portions are plentiful, the food is hot, and the is on point.
The local fish tacos and the basic taco salad did not disappoint.
However, it is far from real authentic Mexican, but close enough for a great evening and meal.

The salsa was nice and thick with virtually no water, and as with any Mexican restaurant you can tell if it's going to be good or bad based on the salsa. This was among the best I've had, and the steak nachos were fantastic with plenty of cheese and lots of full chips, I saw almost no crumbs. Highly recommend and I hopefully will visit again next time I am on vacation here

Picked this restaurant by chance, and it was the best choice I could have ever made. The birria tacos were the absolute best thing I've ever tasted. I went back to get more on my way back home to Birmingham. We sat on the patio, nice breeze, wasn't too hot, the service was on point. The Pina colada had great flavor, and they didn't skimp on the alcohol. The food had the authentic taste. Absolutely recommend!!!

Had such a great experience here at Cactus Cantina!! Our server, Gavin, was prompt, knowledgeable, and super accommodating while being unobtrusive. The rest of the staff assisting as well. The chips/salsa/queso were all top tier as far as mexican restaurants go. My strawberry basil margarita was delicious and balanced, using real fruit purée instead of any overly sweet or sour mixes. I got the gringo tacos because I can’t ever pass up grilled pineapple. My boyfriend got his steak quesadilla with a side of the Birria consommé because he just couldn’t decide and thought “porqué no los dos?” in the style of Old El Paso. We were both very impressed with everything but especially the serving of pico, sour cream, and lettuce in a mini fried tortilla on the side. Overall, a fantastic dinner in the middle of a seafood filled week!

My family loves this place! It's the closest thing to TexMex you can find in this area. Our server was amazing! We asked if they could make a birria quesadilla, and not only did they make it, but now they're adding it to the menu!! My daughter LOVED it! They also have THE BEST guacamole. Great food, great service and fun atmosphere! The host was very welcoming, our server, Izaya was awesome and the Manager was on top of everything! This place will be our normal stop when we come to Gulf Shores!

Everything was fantastic! I had the Three Amigos Cheese dip as an appetizer and the Boom Boom shrimp tacos and they were AMAZING! I can’t remember our servers name but he was tall with brown curly hair and he was very attentive and repeatedly checked on us. One of the managers came by and grabbed plates and asked how we were as well. They were busy and our food came out very quick! We will definitely be back again to this location asap! PS. The chimichanga cheesecake dessert ❤️❤️❤️

We have been to other locations, but we really enjoyed the outdoor area at this one. The food was good as always. The portion sizes are usually quite large, so keep that in mind. For those that have never been, this is a Tex-Mex style restaurant.

We loved our experience in cactus cantina. We came in fairly late but that didn't stop Isaiah from giving us the best service! He stayed and chatted with us and was very knowledgeable about the menu! He's a major asset to your restaurant! Thank you Isaiah :) p.s love the merch that all the servers were wearing!

We came from Missouri so we were a little disappointed that the food wasn't better down here. It's lacking authenticity. Great servers, very friendly, the presentation of the food was great, looked fancy, but the food is missing flavor and culture. We didn't even get hot sauce, I asked for some and she gave me some in a bottle, most restaurants make their own and I like to taste the unique sauces but this place cuts a lot of corners it seems like. It's kind of like it's an American diner that serves Mexican food lmao.

Good food, decent value. However, this isn't the best of the Cactus Cantina's in the area. Canal Rd. in Orange Beach gets that spot in my book. This GS location is closest to home for me but not my preferred. The staff gets the job done but every time it seems like there is some drama going on.

Solid Mexican food. They have a really moist and tender shredded chicken. Tableside guacamole is pretty good, too. Service can be a little bit impersonal and slow but it's usually at least adequate.

Reasonable prices, although they do add an upcharge for credit cards. Over the years I swear the portions have gotten smaller, but you still won't go hungry after a meal here.

This is probably the best Mexican restaurant we've ever eaten at.was fairly busy when we stopped for lunch but we were still seated and had our order taken quickly.staff were polite and understanding when our 2 yr old made a mess as well.food came out pretty quick and was amazing,definitely recommended the birria tacos.my wife had a margarita and it was great as well as decently sized

We love Cactus Cantina!! We visit each year when we travel to Gulf Shores. The food is FRESH which is rare for Mexican food. The service is amazing and the dishes are delicious!! My all time favorite Mexican food. Chips, salsa, queso, drinks and entrees were all amazing. Highly recommend the chorizo queso and birria tacos. For margaritas, the mango was easy to drink and well mixed. Food came out quickly and correctly (we thought the food was for another table it was brought out so fast). Ask your server for recc’s and relax! This place should be much busier than it is.

When we walked in and put our name on the list, they said it would be 10 mins. At the time we didn't know the manager was at the front and he proceeded to find us a table. I didn't make it to the bathroom before he called my wife and I to sit down. Impressive. The menu was hard to pick from cause it all looked good by the descriptions. We always say you can tell a Mexican restaurant by it's salsa and they lived up to that. The service was spot on, food came out quickly and was delicious. I had the Texas tacos with black beans and rice. The plate was spotless when I was done. The meal costed $48 which was another surprise. Overall I gave great stars because we loved this place and took my granddaughter with us 2 days later. I would recommend to anyone who has a hankering for Mexican.

We had Melissa as our server and she was the best we had while in the area. She knew the food without hesitation, kept our drinks filled, and was friendly. The cactus grits were great! And the burritos were just right for our liking. Glad we chose this one!

I usually get cactus cantina to go most of the time instead of dining in. I love the one in Foley and the ones in Orange Beach! I hardly eat “in person” at the one in Gulf shores, but I did tonight and I WILL NOT return. The staff was made up of majority unprofessionals who acted as if they have been drinking on the job honestly. Our waitress was very nice and professional but the rest of the ones working were not. I have diabetes and no gallbladder and have to use the restroom immediately after eating most of the time. The restroom here is a single use one for women and a single use one for men. Upon entering the women’s restroom I immediately notice that it is disgusting but I have no other choice but to use it (because with the meds I’m on it’s either that or have an accident on myself). The restroom was covered in garbage and toilet paper all over the floor. There looked to be what looked like dried vomit on one of the toilet paper holders. The paper towel dispenser was empty and instead of them putting the roll back in the dispenser to be used properly the roll was setting on the side of the sink to get splashed with water is very time someone used the sink water. The sink and floors were in desperate need of a clean. You can tell that no one had tended to the bathroom in a long while. While I was using the restroom an employee was waiting to use the restroom and proceeded to stand outside the door (where I could hear everything they were saying). And kept saying she had to pee real bad and knocking on the bathroom door. When I came out of the restroom she looked at me and realized I was a customer and said “oh sorry”. I walked passed her and bk to my table. At which time she decides to act a fool at how the bathroom smelled and gets some of her coworkers in on the “joke” she actually grabbed a male coworker to go in the bathroom (a women’s bathroom) to sniff it to continue to joke and laugh about it. I watched the whole situation unfold in front of me with embarrassment and horror. I guess they didn’t realize I was watching but it makes me wonder if the lady was even sober. She had been drinking out of her Stanley cup quiet a lot and makes me wonder if there was more than just “water or soda” in her cup. I proceed to tell my husband about the situation upon leaving and he tells me while I was in the restroom he saw a big cockroach run across the floor and our waitress saw it and just walked past it like it was normal. I don’t know who owns or manages this place but I would do a check in on my establishment and employees if I were you.

Cactus Cantina is the best Mexican restaurant I have ever had the pleasure of dining at. From the moment I stepped through the doors, I was transported to a vibrant, authentic Mexican atmosphere complete with colorful decor, lively music, and the mouthwatering aromas of traditional cuisine.

The food at Cactus Cantina is simply out of this world. I started with the freshly made guacamole, which was the perfect blend of creamy avocado, tangy lime, and aromatic spices. For my main course, I ordered the carnitas tacos, and each bite was an explosion of flavor. The pork was slow-roasted to perfection, resulting in meat that was incredibly tender and juicy. The homemade corn tortillas were soft and sturdy, providing the ideal vessel for the flavorful fillings.

But the culinary experience didn't end there. For dessert, I indulged in the most heavenly churros I have ever tasted. They were perfectly crisp on the outside, yet light and airy on the inside, coated in a generous dusting of cinnamon-sugar. I would literally die to have even just a single crumb of those churros again.

The service at Cactus Cantina was also top-notch. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the food they were serving. They made excellent recommendations and ensured that my dining experience was nothing short of exceptional.

In short, Cactus Cantina is the best Mexican restaurant I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. The food is authentic, flavorful, and absolutely divine. I would give it 10 stars if I could, and I cannot wait to return and savor every bite once again.

I went there with my daughter and a large group of her friends. A total of 15 teenagers were just at one table. Our group had at least 30. The manager (awesome sleeves tatts btw) was helping serve and she was so friendly! Our waiter handled everything like a pro and never broke a sweat! A great time was had by all and we can't wait to go back!!

The food was great. However, left my phone sitting on the table. Went right back in to get it from our table and the table was already cleaned. Located my phone and got back to the room to see the front hostess took selfies with my phone. Completely unprofessional! And really not cute at all. You haven’t a clue how much storage I have on my phone to be taking up space with photos. I’m actually curious when they managed to snap a photo when they were so busy. And I literally came right back in, couldn’t have been 5 mins.

We showed up with a party of 15 and the manager was super accommodating. The staff was awesome, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was great. Highly recommend this restaurant!

3-23-24 Was seated at a dirty table. Waited 10 mins without any service. Employees just standing around. Only time we were acknowledged was when we decided to leave because we were ignored. Employees did not want to work.

Amazing Service! Ordered Large cheese dip and it was brought to the table before we even finished ordering our dinner. Granda Margaritas are Awesome. Food portions are large and hot and just the way you order. Several times during our visit we were asked not only by our server Izayaj also by management if everything was ok and if we needed anything. Kid friendly and great family atmosphere. Is a little pricey but for portions and service well worth it. ROLL TIDE!

We have been to other locations, but we really enjoyed the outdoor area at this one. The food was good as always. The portion sizes are usually quite large, so keep that in mind. For those that have never been, this is a Tex-Mex style restaurant.

Cactus Cantina more like gross Katina it was not good at all my food Who is barely seasoned my mom‘s friends food was barely seasoned me and my friends food was not seasoned it was not a authentic Mexican restaurant environment it was disgusting and they make you pay high price for low quality food and the service is great I will give them that but they need to do better on their service of seasoning there should not be a reason why I only taste chewable things in my food and there is no seasoning to it I am very mad and I’m still hungry if you see this cactus Cantina I’m letting you know for everybody who won’t tell it to your face do better thank you .

Tonight I called in and put my order in on my way there, and it was ready in 10 minutes! This was about 6-6:30, so when I got there it was busy and raining. There were a bunch of people standing by the hostess stand when I came in with my baby in my arms. I was prepared for it to be a nightmare to pick up food with a baby by myself in the rain, but the hostess immediately prioritized me and had such a great sense of urgency! She helped hold the receipt for me so I could sign and helped with the doors so I could get out, and a server insisted on carrying the food to my car for me. I’ve been eating here for years and am already a loyal local because the food and service is always fantastic. I’ve had nothing but great experiences here, but tonight was just a lot more than I was anticipating. The care and compassion I was treated with absolutely blew me away, and my taco was even still crunchy when I got it home! I love Cactus Cantina in GS and cannot say enough good things about it!

My family and I are local and have been going here for years, gotta say it’s always great! Staff goes out of their way to make everything just right, food is out fast and always delicious. Definitely our go-to for Mexican in Gulf Shores. Luis and Gerald are our favorite waiters… smiling and joking around everytime we see them. See you guys again soon!

Went for lunch during a fairly busy time and sat at bar to avoid waiting for a table and the large parties with lots of kids. Bar not that busy, still empty seats. Bartender slow, could not get drinks right ( 2 margaritas ordered without salted rims, please) After first was served with salt, she just dumped contents into another glass with half the salt going in with it. She then still forgot and did the same thing with the second. Then she screwed up food orders and we noticed she did the same thing to guy next to us. The manager came by and righted the food orders. Bartender apologized but drinks were ruined and 2 large noisy family parties had been seated right behind in bar area and it was time to go. Chips and salsa were best we've had in 30 years!
