El Toro Mexican Restaurant

Wow! The salsa has a nice heat to it and the chips were very fresh!
I ordered a combination C, and let me tell you...that was a lot of food - the majority of it came home in a to-go container! The taco was stuffed full of meat, and cheese, and topped with lettuce and tomato. The cheese taco had so much cheese stuffed inside!
Our server was sweet and attentive.
The prices are very, very reasonable!

Excellent food, some of the best we've found down here in Gulf Shores. We only had to wait a few minutes to be seated. Service was very fast. Got our food about 8 minutes after ordering, and the prices were great. Got 4 entrees for under $50.

Huge portions, and reasonable prices!
The salsa has a mild kick to it, which is pleasant! The chips were warm and fresh. And the sweet tea was sweet! They also have a high score from the health department!
The servers were friendly and prompt. The taco was stuffed full of beef, cheese, lettuce and tomato, and the burrito was fully stuffed as well!
We will be back next winter :)

El Toro hits the spot every time!!! We went there once when we were in the Orange Beach/Gulf Shores area and now we come back just for El Toro. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. They start you out with delicious salsa and warm chips. The food is amazingly quick and always hot. I love to get the top shelf margarita, cheese dip, guacamole, enchiladas supreme, rice, and beans. The chicken quesadilla with fajita veggies and guacamole tacos are also delicious. We have never tried anything we didn’t love.

Amazing food definitely would recommend to friends and family also the weight is very short they get you seated as soon as possible and the food gets to you and less than 15 minutes chips and salsa are fresh. Very homey feel also great place for a birthday dinner they have a special ritual they do for the birthday person song and dance with a sombrero and a sugary-sweet tostada to the face with whipped cream.

If you dine here and pay with a credit card make certain you check the actual charge that is applied to your account. They tipped themselves an amount over what I authorized of the total bill. Had to call my credit card company to dispute and get corrected the next day.

I paid for a meal that this restaurant refused to give me.

Honestly, I've been going to this place for a couple years and while their hardshell tacos are pretty good, the restaurant itself is pretty gross. There's inches on dust on the ceiling and overall it looks kinda nasty inside... which of course leads me to wonder if it looks this gross in the customer part of the restaurant what doer the kitchen look like?

The real straw that broke the camels back was when I ordered Uber eats today. The driver got there and then called me to say that I needed to pay for my order so I had him put the person from El Toro on the phone who started arguing with me about the fact that they don't use Uber Eats to which of course I replied obviously they do use Uber eats because I paid for a meal that the driver was dispatched to go pick up...

We went around for about five minutes until I ultimately realized that these people were going to take my money and not deliver any food.

It's worth noting I've attached a screenshot of my Uber Eats order to which all I have to say to El Toro is a middle finger.

Great way to burn a local loyal customer , but all in all it won't be much of a loss. There's much cleaner Mexican restaurants in the area. This one just happened to be the closest.

We randomly found this Mexican restaurant while driving around looking for a spot that’s not completely full, and I was so excited to discover their fantastic vegan options. The waitress happily made my enchiladas vegan, and they were incredibly flavorful and authentic. Plus, the prices were very reasonable. If you're looking for delicious Mexican food, this place is a must-visit!

After ordering take out because lines are long everywhere. We waited 45 minutes for our fajita trio for 2 and guacamole. Once we got back to the condo we realized we did not have tortillas or our guacamole. When we realized we called to inform them of the mess. Messes up happen but calling a customer is a liar and said they packed everything when they did not. Not sure why I would waste my time to call and be called a liar. Completely unprofessional. Told us to bring the food back when they were closed didn't even offer to give us tortillas or anything else. Not sure how we could return food when they were "closed".

25NOV23 ~ The food was bad, usually tasteless, and definitely NOT authentic mexican food. Even the local mexicans must agree with us. A fishing buddy of mine went there. As we walked up to the restaurant my friend wondered if this was an authentic mexican restaurant here in Gulf Shores, Alabama. As we walked in my friend laughed and said, "Look, not a single mexican eating here," he laughed and said, "Do not expect authentic mexican food." It was not. Everything was bland, really tasteless, except the tortilla chip salsa, which was good. My chili relleno had some type of yellowish liquid leak out when I cut into it. This is not what I expected or wanted.

Great tamale but didn't like that sauce....reminded me more of spegetti sauce. Wasn't a fan of the enchilada either but the flan was excellent. My spouse ordered a side of black beans and they arrived in a grey soupy liquid that was off putting. He didn't like it...said it tasted weird. Service was great and the atmosphere was pleasant. 1st time eating there. Not sure I'd go back.

This is a Mexican restaurant in a strip mall like many other restaurants in the Gulf Shores area. They have done a pretty decent job of making the interior space far more interesting than many other restaurants in the area. You get the usual chips and salsa to start out your meal and then my dining companion got some beef tamales that were actually just plain masa tamales with beef sprinkled on top of them which wasn't a big hit. On the other hand I had fajitas and while I've had better fajitas I've also had way worse fajitas so these were pretty good overall. The service was decent for the most part but it could have been a bit better with getting drink refills done in a more timely manner. Overall this is a decent Mexican joint and if I was in the mood for Mexican this spot is better than quite a few other local Mexican joints in the area.

We love this restaurant and eat here 2-3 times a month. It’s our favorite Mexican restaurant. Their chips are always hot and the salsa has just the right amount of spiciness. My favorites are the chili relleno with rice and beans, the tamales, the chicken quesadilla, the burrito supreme, and the choriqueso dip.The choriqueso is a delicious and addictive mix of chorizo and queso blanco. The service is good, although sometimes no one is up front ready to seat us when we walk in. The only thing is, while the beef is seasoned, the chicken is not and is pretty bland. That seems to be common around here. Nevertheless we think El Toro is the best Mexican restaurant in town and recommend it.

Update: still love these guys but they have GOT to change their fryer grease more often. Chips and fried items now come out dark and taste bad. We've stopped going because of this.

Salsa is amazing. If you like spicy, order the picante salsa . The best I've ever eaten. Next I order the fajitas texanas and my wife orders the shrimp fajitas. Yall this place knows flavor. The gulf shrimp were cooked perfect. The steak was pull apart tender and the chicken was very moist and not over cooked. All the meats and vegetables were awesome. Then the side plate that goes with the fajitas. The mexican rice is #1 out of over 80 mexican restaurants that I've tried. I wish I knew how to make it. The beans and the salad were good. My wife really liked the guacamole. The Pico was fresh and one of the best I've had. Overall I would give 5 stars. Service was awesome. I highly recommend. Awesome job toro!

The food was good. It was pretty crowded and it was a long wait, and I think our waitstaff lost track of us, but it looked like they were short staffed. To their credit, my husband liked his margarita, and we all thought the food was very good.

We visited this place with my family. Our experience overall was good. Service was okay food was not bad however we did have a friend visit the wall beside our table. 🪳 It was right after we had ate our food so it did not ruin our experience until later.The food would be a good 3.7. The rice is great. The carne asada was bland no real flavor to it. The chicken quesadilla was great really flavorful and full of garnish. I would rate my cocktail shrimp a 3/5.

No le doy 5 estrellas porque mi hermana pidió unas fajitas y que nunca se las llevaron hasta que le dijimos a la chica y dijo que se le olvidó y la tuvimos que pedir para llevar.. a mi cuñado le trajeron doble plato que según el lo había pedido y el nunca lo pidió y lo pago por pena con la chica .. esta es mi experiencia no quiere decir que sea la de todos .. primera ves que visito el restaurante.

My 1st time there with friends. Very nice, decorated place. Maybe cause it was busy,2pm , or there was 7 of us, but we sat alot with our individual salsa bottle n dipping bowl, that's a nice touch. I ordered the combination E plate, it wasn't very hot where I heard other dishes sizzling and the heat rising. They do a great Birthday song with the whipped cream in the face! Lol, that was unexpected 🤣!
I will try again with a solo or couple trip. Otherwise, very good.
