This is my new go-to Mexican Restaurant. First of all the food was of a higher quality than any Mexican restaurant I am used to. They automatically bring you three types of dip with the nachos all of which were delicious. My margarita had a liberal amount of alcohol. The prices were great, and the servers were attentive.an overall excellent experience that I look forward to repeating

I visited the El Patron Bar & Grill yesterday which was Wednesday and it was packed. That tells you something. There was plenty of room in the parking lot so I didn't have to worry about parking along the road and getting ticketed before the meal was over.

The item I picked from the menu, (#51), had excellent flavor, was moist and there was enough on the plate to feed at least two people. I ate the whole thing.

You couldn't ask for better service. As many people who were in the restaurant our server always had time to stop by to make sure we weren't lacking anything.

If you get a chance stop by there. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Oh, one other thing. The menu does have vegetarian options.

Extremely fast service for everything, drinks, food, and even our dessert that we got after we were given our bill. The prices are great and they have great chips with great salsa. They bring a good homemade tomato-based salsa with slight spice, a verde salsa with a lime base, and a bean dip to your table before you even order. The only problem we had was I ordered a top shelf frozen margarita and it came on the rocks instead of frozen, but everything else was extremely fast and tasted amazing. We even got an extra bowl of bean dip with extra chips at no additional charge. We will definitely be back within the next two weeks.

I have dined at El Patron twice now in the past 3 months. The service is extremely fast. They are more authentic than your average TexMex/ SouthEastern Mexican restaurant.

First off, they bring you out THREE complimentary dips for your chips: a Red Salsa, a Salsa Verde (green salsa), and a black refried bean dip with cheese sauce in it. That alone gives this place tons of “brownie points”, because I prefer salsa Verde over red salsa. Secondly, they offer Piña Coladas, Jarritos (multiple flavors), and aquas frescas— I thought this was impressive as well.

My first visit here they offered me “grilled jalapeños” when I asked for jalapeños—- they were spicy and delicious! (Not pictured). I ordered the carnitas meal, and a chili relleno ( I judge a Mexican restaurant’s quality by their chili rellenos… they definitely passed my test!) not only do they offer ground beef filled, but also SHRIMP filled chile rellenos — soooo yummy. I had so much food it didn’t even look like I had eaten anything and had tons to take home with me

During my recent visit, I ordered a steak fajita salad. It. Was. So. Good!
The steak was juicy and all the vegetables were good too. I asked for a side of queso and jalapeños. The total for my meal (plus extras), the complimentary dips, and nachos ended up being less than $12. Quite a steal for the amount of food I had! Great portion sizes.

I will definitely be seeing them regularly and trying other menu items 😊

This is the type of Mexican food I want to be eating. This restaurant is authentic, the service is super fast it was hard not to feel rushed. However, this also makes them hyper aware of emptying glasses. I chose the fried fish and I could not be more satisfied. The dish was delicious and came with rice and beans that were definitely different from your typical texmex restaurant. I would recommend.

Always a good experience at ElPatron! Food is great, served well, fresh and plentiful! They move fast so you don't have to wait and the servers are always pleasant. My kids fight over their bean dip and often we get chips so fresh they are still warm! I'm a huge fan of their chicken tostada, enchiladas, chimichanga, etc.

We were seated quickly and our servers didn't allow us to wait for anything we needed during the entire meal. Service was excellent and our waiter was witty and friendly. We all enjoyed our meals, even my picky 16yo son and 83yo mom! When in the area, don't sleep on El Patron!

Do NOT go to this place. The kitchen staff do not wear gloves. Literally saw a guy on the food line holding tortillas and making food with his bare hands. When I asked why they don't wear gloves they said "don't know".

Always a good experience at ElPatron! Food is great, served well, fresh and plentiful! They move fast so you don't have to wait and the servers are always pleasant. We have enjoyed our food here on several ocassions. They can handle larger parties without a problem. Very accomodating staff and excellent service. Food comes out quickly, and is always excellent quality. Nice they give you salsa, verde and bean dip on the table. Margaritas can be hit and miss, but otherwise, no complaints.

Best food around, period. This place is a staple for all the surrounding neighborhoods,. The Owner is amazing, the service is unmatched and going to eat here is like going to a friend's house. Do yourself a favor and make El Patron's a regular place to relax and enjoy!

This is by far the best Mexican restaurant around here, nowhere else comes close. The food is higher quality compared any other restaurant, and the pricing is amazing. It is also very generous that you get red and green salsa as well as bean dip to begin with. This is the only place I trust to get amazing food everytime and I hope they are forever here to stay

Fajita shrimp was tough and the Fajita steak was not too much better. Steak was cut as small as the bell peppers. Both red and green sauce too spicy and I like spicy.

The employees have no idea how the laws work here, and they are also very liars. We had a coupon, and they didn't accept it, and I didn't know the manager's number to ask her, until I told them that the police were going to call. There they spoke to the owner, who didn't accept it either. It was the value of the luch or the equivalent. I mean $8.25 the discount. If you don't know, don't join the coupons and then don't accept it. It was the coupons for school books that you pay for them. It was the first time. and the last one we will go. Furthermore, they do not know how to take care of families with children who do not speak Spanish, although I do speak and they listened to how they lied, although they did not know that I understood everything

El Patron has always been a great dine in option for me in Helena. I’ve been there at least 10 times and have always had excellent service and food. I usually get the steak or shrimp fajitas for lunch. That along with the chips, salsa and complimentary bean and cheese dip make for a very filling and delicious meal. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. I’ll continue to make it a regular on my lunch/dinner rotation.

Wife & I were looking for a Mexican restaurant late in the evening when I found El Patron Bar & Grill. They were opened when everyone else was closed. The atmosphere was immediately welcoming as we were greeted with smiles and seated quickly. Drinks & appetizers were ordered and brought quickly. After ordering our meals, we didn't have to wait long. The food was brought on hot plates and was fantastic! We needed no to-go boxes but ordered a soup to go, and they gave us a quart of their Mexican soup!! It was smiles all around. The next day we shared the soup and like everything else, was awesome!! Highly recommended restaurant!

Good, fresh, authentic Tex-Mex. The Salsa Verde is top-notch, and the margherita is not too shabby, either. Service was fine. Not great, not bad, just slow to check back, and bring the compliments to your meal i.e. crema, tortillas, etc. If you like Mexican (Tex-Mex), than give them a try. Enjoy!

Placed a Togo order yesterday 6/17/23 for a chicken taco salad, guacamole dip, cheese dip and chicken tortilla soup. They now charge a 4% fee when paying with a credit/debit card which is ridiculous. The manager used to be really nice and accommodating, but ever since covid, he has been extremely rude, which we stopped going to el patron bc of the rudeness. The Togo order was wrong. The chicken taco salad was like a fajita taco salad which is not what I ordered, it was disgusting. Secondly, the dips are complimentary. I only received the salsa. No bean dip or salsa verde. The cheese dip and guacamole dip is always good but besides that, I’d give this place 0 stars. Don’t go here.

This is one of our favorite casual restaurants in the area. The food is good, the service is good, and the price is right. Great place for families or a casual date night.

We stumbled upon this place one day and it is our go to restaurant now. The salsa can be quite hot (spice) but the bean dip with a splash of queso keeps the kids happy.

Stopped by for lunch. No crowd at all. Chips and salsa was great. Chips were nice and hot. Top shelf margarita was definitely not too shelf!! Horrible!!! Never had a bad margarita before. Ordered enchilada and the shell was super hard. Even covered in cheese and red sauce. Steak taco was just as bad. Steak took forever to eat. Not dirty but definitely been to cleaner restaurants. I definitely won't return but hey if you like bland food and a little attitude and cheap liquor in your margaritas this is your spot!!

Very good pastor tacos, asada tacos, and chicken quesadillas. Good prices too.

We love all the dips. Salsa Roja, Salsa Verde, and Bean dip all come free. Add in Queso dip and Guacamole dip and is a full spread.

I give it two stars because the food is pretty decent, nothing anymore special than another place though. The service is what will be the downfall of this restaurant. Went in today and the server we had was too concerned with flirting with a table of two girls than actually taking care of any other table in the section. Bad attitude, never asked if food was good, had to flag down a different server to get my husband a refill after being bone dry for 25 minutes. Typically you can pretty much count on a Mexican restaurant providing decent service, and this was actually a first of having horrible service at any Mexican restaurant we’ve ever been to.
My husband handled the check out and made note of the bad service and was offered a manager to speak to, but since he’s super nice he said not to worry about it and left.
I tried to call shortly after coming home just to find out the name of the server so that if we ever returned we could request not to be in his section, and when I asked for a manager, I was told “there’s no boss, theres no manager” which I found funny since 20 minutes prior we had been offered one. Just avoid this place, nothing special about the food and severely lacking service.

3rd time visiting this establishment .
We are out of towners visiting the area.
Food and service is just phenomenal.
Their complimentary chips and dip is awesome.
My husband ordered beef enchilada and I ordered Love Favorita.
I absolutely loved my meal.
Flatua was nice and crunchie and was filled with shredded beef.
Chile Rellenos -ground beef was seasoned to perfection.
Beef quesadillas was also very flavorful..
My husband enjoyed his beef enchilada with rice and beans.
Will definitely visit this establishment on our next visit.

This is, by far, our favorite local restraunt! The servers are always prompt and polite! They remember you from previous visits. We've never had an issue with an order, and I'll admit we've been here at least 10 times just since this summer. Their manager is approachable and quick to jump in and help bus tables, deliver food, drinks, you name it, they get it done! And it's such a great team they've built! Truly, happy employees demonstrate the competency of the business as a whole. And the good is DELICIOUS!!!

This restaurant has really good food, however the service i received there was trash!! The waiter was rude and smart as he didn’t know we spoke Spanish, when complaining about the bad service the Manager/ cashier was just as rude all he said was well was your food good?! He could care less about the experience! To say all that I will never patronize this place again as they are rude and prejudice!!!!!

UPDATE: The original owners must’ve sold. The staff is not friendly anymore, service is sporadic, food is adequate. The server’s attitude was almost like he was doing us a favor by stopping to take our order. Be happy if they do because you won’t see him again until you want to leave. And NOBODY speaks English. We won’t go back.
