The music is great and the waiters are very nice and quick. The fajitas were amazing. They were very juicy and packed with flavor. Don’t get me started on the churros. They were the best I have ever had and were filled with a cream like the Cinnabon delights at Taco Bell! They come with whipped cream and chocolate sauce.

We went for dinner here on a Friday evening. No wait times and we could just walk in. However, as soon as we ordered the food, the waiter seemed to be in such a rush that he just pulled the menus from us and went away. That was disappointing as it was not close to closing time and the restaurant did not seem to be busy either. 3 stars for the generous portions of food. We tried a chicken burrito and chicken fajitas. The chicken fajitas came with some tortillas, spanish rice, beans, guacamole and sour cream. It was nice. Burrito was good as well. Also, they keep a basket of nacho chips and salsa while we are waiting for our order. We got our food pretty quick. Overall, fairly priced. Just wish that the waiter had some patience.

Stopped to have dinner with friends. Server was pleasant. Food was prompt and correct. I had the street tacos, which were amazing. They didn't come with a side though. Guacamole salad would've been great addition. Dining area and restroom was clean.

One of my most FAVORITE Mexican restaurants here in Hoover. I have many fond memories of coming here for years and years, and I have personally never been disappointed with the service. Please check it out when you get the chance, you won’t regret it! The cheese dip is especially good!

Food is okay but not good enough to overcome below average service.

This place has convenient parking and a decent location, it's spacious and clean but the staff holds an air of superiority that negates those positives. We were forced to interrupt the "greeters" conversation as they completely ignored our arrival. At which point they began speaking Spanish before seating our group, not cool.

Margarita was watered down, the food was average, both a bit pricier than other places. Overall, it wasn't a 'horrible' experience, but I doubt we'll bypass the other Mexican restaurants that have great food and great customer service.

12/23/24 - Ordered Dinner with the wife while we waited for our friend to arrive. Due to traffic finished dinned and paid cash for our dinner as we waited. Friend arrived ordered dinned then they approached me 5 times about the dinner I already paid for. Was so shocked that I would be interrupted 5 times after I already paid, I went up to be told by the staff that the cash I paid with was magically invisible on their records, I was past frustrated when I was extorted to pay again. Shame it use to be one of my favorite places to eat; never again!

The music is way too loud! I can't even hear my phone with my headphones in and the volume all the way up. I came in for a peaceful meal and to have a business call. Asked them to turn it down as I and two other people are the only ones in here and she says she can't. Ive been in here plenty and its never this loud.Beyond too loud! Ruined the whole experience!

They finally turned it down a little, when they saw this review, and more people started to come in.

Saying the customer service was HORRIBLE would be an understatement. I seriously cannot even fantom the service. Our server was Roxy. It literally took her 20 minutes to even bring us a drink. Refills, ha, what’s that? After we got our food, we asked for more salsa, she said ok. Well 21 minutes later (I timed it), her walking around to several other tables, we asked again could we have some salsa and refills - she said she had other tables we needed to wait. Then she goes to stand in the drink area walk back around us before she brings some. She didn’t bring us any refills. A couple of minutes later she brought one drink refill, not anyone else’s. She seemed like we bothered her more than anything. We eat here often and this waiter always seems disgruntled, but after tonight we won’t be back.

The food here is mediocre to bad, and overpriced. The atmosphere is nice and well-suited to big groups. Service is fairly quick and friendly. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, don’t come here.

This place is going out of business soon. Our food was burnt, and the waitress try to order extra food for our table. I was there with my kids and once we requested, we did not order extra food. She had an attitude and argument, instead of being polite and solving, the issue on hand. Be careful what you order and double check the menu prices vs what they charge you .

Service was extremely slow. The queso was watery and bland. The tea and Lemonade taste like water because they filled ice to thee max in cups. Get a cup with no ice to refill yourself. The steak street tacos were excellent and so was the shredded beef chimichanga. They made up for the horrible service.

I have been coming here for years, and it use to be great. However, the service dropped off significantly. It takes about 15 minutes for someone to take a drink order. Many of the servers were sitting in a booth talking. This time I had to walk up to the bar to order beverages. The restaurant is not very clean and none of the staff is friendly. There are better options just down the road.

We waited thirty minutes just to get drinks and have our orders taken. The food was good, but the service was not it.

I paid almost $50 for 2 taco salads because of not eating red meat, pork, chicken or shrimp. I just wanted rice added and some spinach. When did veggies become more expensive than red meat and why must the servers display an obvious dislike in taking an order for what "you" want? I know it's not Burger King but c'mon.

The food has always been amazing but the waitresses in particular are such rude humans. Roxy especially who always has an attitude, throws food on the table, says rude comments, spits in food, and is overall a terrible worker. She needs to be fired.

Terrible service. Roxy is the rudest waitress I have ever been serviced by. She made numerous rude comments towards me and my children, threw food on the table, and thought it was a good idea to lecture me about why the guacamole is never good. The guacamole is never good according to them which tells me she is lazy to walk into the back and make it. Roxy needs to be fired immediately. Rudest person ever!!!!!! They are also scammers, I was charged 9 dollars for a water with chips and salsa. Do not go here. I also find hair in my food and also I saw spit in my queso. Also when I didn’t tip (when they obviously didn’t deserve it with their god awful service) I proceeeded to get scolded and held at as I walked out of the door. Do not go here.

It takes A LOT for me to leave a review. As a local to this spot, and a place my family would like to go, I will never return. I have never in my life dealt with worse service. Our waitress was extremely rude. We ordered queso, and she forgot. When we told her, she did not apologize even though we had waited over 30 minutes. She never smiled and was very blunt and rude the entire 3 times she came to our table. The only time she would come by is if we had to flag her down. When we did, of course we received an eye roll. (Earn those tips girl!)

They claim to close at 9pm. At 8pm which is very early, they started flipping chairs all around us. I felt rushed and devalued as a guest being there.

Later, our waitress slams the check on our table! (This is the exceptional service that we all love to tip for.) She says "if you want to split check, do it up front." *turns around and walks off*.

HAHA thank you so much!! You will never see me again, and I will continue to spread the word about never coming here to all of my friends and family. The chefs are great, but service like this, kills a restaurant. I'll never forget this terrible experience. A re-evaluation of staff members needs to take place. Best of luck, as you're going to need it.

Buena comida , buen servicio de los meseros . Pero pésima actitud de la manager . Llegamos 8:30 pm para cenar y cierran a la 9:00 pm . Nos recibieron y nos sirvieron , hasta ahí todo marchaba muy bien. Pero pues no podemos comer en 15 minutos, entonces empezó el martirio con una muy mala cara de parte de la manage, se veía que ya le urgía que nos fuéramos. If you are from the southwest or Southern California and you are used to real Mexican food don't come here. They charge extra for hot sauce, bean burrito is smothered, my taco was broke meat not seasoned so dissapointed

It deserves 5 stars because every time I go I get my chips and salsa immediately, then followed by questions about drink, then what we want to eat, and then constantly check ups to make sure all is well. I appreciate the fast turn around for the food and service. I always get the chicken el ranchero.

Definitely was not impressed by this establishment in terms of the customer service. The food was mediocre. Not the best nor the worst we’ve had. The gentleman working our table though, acted as if he couldn’t be bothered by our party of 3, and was visibly aggravated when we asked for basic items like enough silverware and my kids drink. I only care to support businesses where I feel welcome and appreciated. Plenty of other places.

Frontera Grill is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants to visit. The food is very authentic and there is a large variety of food for adults or children. They do have happy hour for those who love a good margarita on the rocks or frozen. 😉 I have been eating at Frontera for over 10 years and not once have I been disappointed in a meal or a mixed drink order. If you love Mexican food that is authentic and always fresh...give them a try. You will not be disappointed. Side note...I am allergic to shell fish and therefore I have not had any of the meals with shrimp in them.

Not the best quality. Stay away from the steak. I don’t expect much from a low scale joint like this, but they excelled in cooking a very bland, greasy interpretation of Mexican cuisine. The rice was tasteless, and the onions and peppers tasted like they’d been dipped in fat and then warmed in a microwave. The steak was equally bland. I din’t expect a great steak, but at least season it and don’t cook it in a skillet until it resembles leather. To be fair, it was a busy Friday night, but we all left thinking we’d wasted good money on bad food.

Considering the plethora of Mexican restaurants around town, there wasn't anything special worth mentioning here (which is ok); but some of the food was a bit bland (e.g., the flank steak), which is less acceptable with so many other options available. The food was cold!!! I ordered chimichanga-the ground beef was so bland. and the rice was dry, overcooked and literally stuck together. My son ordered nachos with fajita steak and cheese sauce only-it had about a fourth of meat-a dab of cheese sauce, and a TON of chips. My son asked for a little more cheese sauce and they said if will cost $5.00. Very disappointed and disgusted!!!

Decent place! Rice is great! Beans mixed with the salsa from your burrito or enchilada is really good! Lots of great dishes aside from the combination plates and different desserts from most places. Highly recommend trying!

No one smiles. Got sat at a dirty table. The waiter wouldn’t answer our questions. He actually made us very uncomfortable.
The food literally had no taste. Bland. Waiter never came back to table. I needed a refill on water. Oh well. They were too busy standing around talking. Went to pay. Didn’t get a ticket. So I had to wait for the lady to go find the waiter. He came back and wrote the ticket, looking at menu for the prices. Only thing they said was $28.73. Seems like too much for two 10 dollar lunches and two waters, but I’ll never know be had in didn’t see a ticket. No one asked how it was, or if everything was okay. Nothing.
I’ve been a restaurant manager for 30 years, and the one I manage now is basically down the street. I don’t usually ever leave bad reviews (you can fact check me on that if you want) I will tell all my customers about my experience here. Since these employees don’t want to hear it.
I would be shocked if this restaurant is still in business by this time next year.

Terrible customer service. The lady that took my daughter's order over the phone was rude when she tried to tell her about her food allergy. When she arrived to pick up her food she wanted to make sure that they knew about her allergy. The lady told her to either take the food or leave it. We will never visit this establishment again!! My daughter is only 16 years old and was trying or get some food while I was out of town. When I tried to speak to the lady while my daughter was there she would not even take the phone or listen to me over speaker phone. Absolutely unacceptable!

I eat here once a month for lunch in the dining room. I have no take out experience here. Food is the usual average to slightly above average for Tex Mex in this area. Service is usually fast at lunch time. Food has always been hot as well. Salsa is above average in my opinion. I will continue to dine here in the future.

The waitress was very rude to us. He needs a little more training on customer service professionalism. We will not be going back 😪 😒 😔 😤

The food here is flavorful yet reasonably priced. The staff is friendly which makes this place an enjoyable place to eat.

It's below average (at best) text mex for an average price. The atmosphere is dull and the food is really not good. If you have any sort of a palate for Mexican food, you can find much better options in the Birmingham metro area.

Ordered:
Grilled skirt steak with a side cheese enchilada
Lunch combination (taco, enchilada, quesadilla)
A steak chimichanga

All bean/rice sides were flavorless and just warm as if (probably) canned and heated over a stove.

Meat in chimichanga just tasted bad and was chewy.

Nobody finished their plate.

Salsa/cheese dip also poor.

You can do better.

First off I don’t usually leave reviews but the lady at the bar was sooo rude to me so Ill make time for one today!! Secondly, this was my first time at this place which I informed the lady it was my first time. I asked her do I place my order at the bar because I was standing there and she did not acknowledge me, so I didn’t know if there was some other place or person for togo orders. She responded so rudely as if she didn’t want to help me and as I proceeded to ask questions about the meal I was gonna order she start looking at me crazy like she was bothered by my presence or some. Her stank attitude made me feel unwanted and it wasn’t even that busy, she wasn’t helpful at all and I see other reviews talking about how rude these people are! I will never go to this place again. I took my money up the street to La Brisa! 0 stars!!

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. We got two meals to go and it was supposed to be $30.88... so I added $30.88 to my Cash App. I got a receipt for $30.88 BUT I got a notification for my Cash App being negative. The lady charged me A $10 TIP! without even asking me! Or even telling me! I've been reading through the 1 star reviews on here and other people are saying the same thing! We went back to ask them about it and they don't even let you speak. I have my original receipt for $30.88 and they have their own receipt for $30.88 + a $10 tip. All they say is "no it wasn't us. no it wasn't us. that's not any of our handwriting" well then whose is it? Because it's not mine. Obviously the cashier wrote it on there herself but wants to play dumb and act like she doesn't know how it could have happened. We won't be going back.

Didn't like it. Good was barely like warm

My daughter and I got rude vibes from the beginning/ and when the waitress brought the wrong order I went politely to fix it , and she said she never heard my daughter say chicken which I know is a lie because my daughter does not eat any type of red meat 🤣 they are rude as hell here
