Drinks are awesome! The food was great! The server was on point, refilling our drinks and checking on us!! We didn't feel awkward or pressured to leave as soon as we were done eating eating even though they were busy. That is appreciated as the group we were in hadn't seen each other in a while!!

We've been going here for many years, hands down best mexican spot in town! The meats are cooked to perfection, always tender and grilled to perfection. The decor inside is beautiful, never seen such a beautifully decored restaurant, really feels like I'm dining in Mexico! Staff are super friendly and attentive. The spaces are huge as well, it can accommodate party's of 4, 6, 8, 10. Lots of large seating spaces. This place is a 10/10!

Consistent food, service, and drinks. The salsa is a step up, the drinks are delish! The atmosphere and decor is above par for the Birmingham area. Great drinks and my vegan friend was even able to order food! I would love another location, as it is a drive for me to dine here.

Yikes this was so bad. My husband and I both got the queso fundido and our “queso” was cheese as hard as a rock and the steak had no seasoning. The chips also had a weird taste. I’m not sure how it’s rated so high but we won’t be back unfortunately.

We love ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING about The Iguana Grill. The food is ALWAYS top-notch. The service is impeccable. Service times are insanely quick. It is amazing! 10/10... I will always recommend this place when people come to visit.

This has a great atmosphere. The service is good. The food was tasteful. My suggestion is to have filtered water instead of tap water for us water drinkers. This might just be one of my fav spots.

Ridiculously OVER PRICED/CHARGED. $32 for 4 tacos. No rice or beans or anything else. And the tacos barely had any meat on them. Called to ask and they said the manager was unavailable.

We were in Birmingham for an event and discovered iguana. The food and service were both great but a really nice bonus is the interior decor. Check out the pictures to see what we're getting at. Android auto couldn't find it using the restaurant name but did fine when we used the street address. We Liked it so much that we came back a second time while we were still in town.

I had not been here since 2019 and there's a big difference in service and food. My food was cold and oversalted. Our drinks were not the brands we ordered but presented as if they were (Grand Marnier & Bacardi but not together of course).
Any decent place would tell you if they don't have it and make a suggestion of something similar in my opinion. Not sure I'll return

It has gotten worse. I used to love this place, but over time I have seen the decline in the service and food. The last time I went with a group, everyone's food was a disappointment, the service was not good, but we still tip because that's how we've been trained. It's a sad goodbye but I will not be back.

I ordered a shrimp salad. My waiter tried to bring me a chicken salad 3x. When I finally got my salad it was not what I saw on the menu and thought I was getting. Kids really liked their qasadilla. The restaurant itself is very appealing.

First the place is absolutely gorgeous, secondly the service and the food was delicious!! The menus, our table and the entire restaurant was spotless! The flavored margarita was also soooo good!! When I came here, it had a nice atmosphere with great music. I came to sit down as usual. I order a quesadilla with steak. It looked so different from the picture. The steak was chewy, and the tortilla tasted bad. I then ordered a flan, and received it. It looked so different from what the picture offered. It was 3x smaller than what the picture advertised. I was very disappointed and left no tip

Tacos are greasy. I actually asked before ordering & still got greasy tacos. Onions in the rice, I don't eat onions. Partner ordered chicken quesadilla and the entire bottom was grease soaked. Well decorated.

Good solid Mexican fare with tasty margaritas. Want to go off the normal path? Try the omelette, you will not be disappointed. I’ve gotten several variations of it and always been happy with the choice. If you’re into hot they have a house made habanero hot sauce that is great when used sparingly! And if you're really adventurous try the quail. Tasty.

Save yourself the misery! Don’t eat here, currently battling some sort of bug acquired from this place. I had eaten here 2 years ago and thought the atmosphere was great. We were in the area thought it was a good pick. Little did I know they now have the worst food rating in the county. Lesson learned google places before dining!

I live close and have always enjoyed coming here for a nice dinner. BUT NOT ANYMORE. Got REALLY sick last Friday with a steak quesadilla. The food did not taste fresh and it was way too cheesy and salty. The last time I got food poisoning was over four years ago so I typically tolerate anything very well. Now everything made sense after seeing the most recent health inspection with a score of 70?? If you get a lower score than sonic and Burger King, then you have a problem. Bye and RIP Iguana.

Lowest health rating in Jefferson County. Birmingham metro has so many excellent Mexican restaurants; there is no need to go to a place that failed health inspection with a 70. We have gone several times in the past with mixed results, but I will not return due to the health rating

I had never been here before. Had lunch with a friend & very much enjoyed my mango 🥭 margarita (I normally don't like margaritas much!) This one was great! Really love all the light decorations. Went around 4pm on the weekday & it was very quiet.

Since living in Hoover, I’ve eaten here often. The food is great, the atmosphere is great, the drinks great, there’s never a wait. However our last visit, was the last visit. We had just finished our food and awaiting the ticket when my daughter noticed a rat above our heads on the ceiling decor. I did not want to believe her but after about 5 seconds of looking up into the ceiling we saw 4 rats directly above our heads. Never going back.

Such a nice place. We always try to eat here when we’re looking for dinner in the Hoover area. The atmosphere is great! The lighting is so unique and pleasant. Food is delicious and the service has always been great. We’ve never had a bad experience here. I don’t think we’ve ever had a wait here either. There is plenty of seating but it doesn’t feel crowded at all.

I have been going to this place since it opened!!! It's definitely one of the best decorated restaurants in the Birmingham area. Me and my family live going here for birthdays along with other family occasions. The staff is really nice as well. Be prepared to pay a little more than your normal Mexicano restaurants. This restaurant is very stunning and had a nice atmosphere.The food was great nothing too special about it either.Noticed it was a little pricier than other similar restaurants.The service was lacking as well.I was confused on who our server actually was , and every time I would want to ask for something ,when they came by and checked they'll be gone in seconds.Felt like they were just rushing .I feel more taken care of at other restaurants where they're attentive and take their time with customers.

The food was good, however the server was very rude, and tried to rush us so he could remove our plates even though we were not through eating. Service is not up to par with the prices they charge. They automatically add the gratuity to your check if you have six or more in your party as we did, so you can't leave a tip that reflects the service you received. We had a party of 6.

They only brought 3 small bowls of chips and salsa for a party of 6. When we asked for more salsa after about 10 minutes, they brought 1 single small bowl. After 10 more minutes, we asked again for more and they again brought 1 single small bowl. After that we just gave up. A total of 5 small bowls of salsa for a party of 6. Very, very stingy with both chips and salsa.

If you order a soft drink, you will be lucky to get one refill. Charge $3 for a soft drink but also very, very stingy with the soft drinks as well.

Not worth what they charge and very stingy after you are paying premium prices.

really sad! the servers have been so rude and ruin the entire experience. i love this place but the service is a serious mood killer. this is the 3rd time in a row we have had horrible service! I have been coming to this place since i was an actual baby (my family tradition). It all started at taqueria mexico! really truly sad to see this decline after all these years.

The service was great. Everyone was pleasant and attentive. We were waiting for two more people, they seated us without everyone already being there. They got our drinks and came over quickly when the last two showed up. They refilled our drinks before they were empty. They refilled the nachos without us requesting a refill. We got our food in a reasonable time. I ordered the Camerones Diablo it was average. The beans and rice were average. My husband had the beef burrito which was also just average.

Pork tamale is so good! Ground beef very flavorful and good. Shredded chicken good and lightly salted. Salsa awesome. It's a very good place for kids or nice dates bc the lanterns and decor is so pretty in person!

Beautiful restaurant and amazing employees besides our server. Whoever the guy with the nose ring / short wavy hair is.. gave us terrible service. Every time we asked for something he made it very clear that he was annoyed and would literally “huff and puff” and walk away lol. Never eating here again.

Prices were super high so I expected the food to be super good. It wasn't. Salsa was good. If you know to ask, they also provide a smokey salsa which is really good but not good enough to help the food. They had signs all over the place saying they would not refund or exchange alcoholic beverages which should have been a clue. The margarita was terrible! The food and service were far from good. The chips had been fried in burned, older oil. Very disappointed! Too many great restaurants out there to spend your hard earned money here.
