Moss Rock Tacos & Tequila

I do not often leave bad reviews. Indeed, it takes quite a lot to put me in a foul mood when I’m treating myself out to eat. However, Tacos and Tequila pressed a lot of buttons for me. Positives first: the environment is super cute and the hostesses were nice when they explained that the restaurant is set up for counter service, so you pick a table and order at the bar. However, once our drinks came out, the bartender argued with me telling me that it matched the order even though I knew it did not. The queso was bland. The chorizo taco and the shrimp tacos were pretty tasty. However, the carne asada tacos were super dry and tasteless. The Al pastor tacos were super mushy and didn’t even have pineapple on them. The margaritas were decent, but again mine was prepared wrong. Then as we got towards the end of our meal, a bus boy took some of our plates out of the way and offered us some boxes. We waited probably 15 minutes for the boxes before going inside to get the boxes ourselves. While we were waiting on the patio, there was a mouse that scurried under our table and went to the door of the restaurant that was slightly ajar. It didn’t go in, but it could’ve. When we mentioned this to the same bartender that was rude to me earlier, she just said something like, “we used to have a patio cat but someone took it home.” Like the appropriate response to saying a rodent nearly entered their restaurant was to tell me that another animal used to be present to keep the rodents away? I thought this was a wild response. This restaurant was pretty disappointing considering it is such a cute little area by moss rock. I will not be back.

Food had fantastic flavor but was not hot. I ordered the combo taco plate with the adobo chicken and carne asada tacos. The first was amazing. The second tasted like sour blandness but once some hot sauce was added it was very tasty. The beans and rice were lukewarm but delicious in flavor. The margaritas were underwhelming and pricey. Friendly enough service but not deserving more than 3 stars. Atmosphere felt cafeteria-like. Cute but not full service. You order at the bar and pick up your drinks at the bar if the bartender cannot bring them you. All-in-all not worth the drive from Calera. We had a gift card and so came out.

We sat at the bar and although the bartender was nice when we first sat down, I wish we were checked on throughout the meal. Overall, this place has potential - seems like they have great weekly deals/events.

We went on a Sunday evening. The location has loads of quirky charm. Employees were courteous, the food service was quick. We sat on the outside side area …nice. The food was good. We had steak and chicken quesadillas, all tasty. I’d prefer more side options vs chips but overall very good. Highly recommended!

We were looking forward to a nice lunch, but are very disappointed. Ambiance is nice, but the food didn’t meet the expectations. Asked for no cilantro due to food allergies, received our tacos without any sauces - so basically only shrimp in a tortilla. Meat seasoning was lame. The beans were made with cilantro, which they didn’t tell us and caused allergy issues. As we waited outside with our dog in the cold, we asked to get a sign when the takeout is done. Nobody showed up, so we got it ourselves from the bar, which was already cold. We will not come again.

First time coming and my husband and I really enjoyed ourselves! Food was absolutely delicious! I had the boulder nachos, adobo taco and the shrimp taco. Good size portions and not expensive at all. The strawberry champagne margarita was great also! We will definitely be back.

I’m normally very relaxed not much gets to me but this was my first time at this establishment the hostess is nice the place is very clean and organized which is nice and welcoming but I sat in this place for about 30-40 minutes with my friend, he placed his order just a few seconds before me. He got his by the time I sat down and I never got mine. I finally walk up to investigate after seeing people sit down and get their food before me and overheard that the nachos had been sitting on the counter and no one delivered them…. Very very annoying.👎🏼

We tried to call a day ahead to reserve a table for 12. No one would answer the phone, so we left a voice mail and left a message on Facebook. No one ever returned our call or answered us. Tonight, we showed up, and they did not have a table for us. There was a table reserved for another party. I spoke to the manager, and he would not take responsibility and not even offer an apology. He said he could put a table together for about 7 people. So we're we supposed to tell 5 people sorry you can't join us? He also said we could sit outside, but it was cold and rainy. Fortunately, a couple of folks couldn't make it, so the rest of us crammed ourselves into a corner.
The food is ok, but nothing special and overpriced for what you get. I doubt I will ever go there again.

Never got our order. After 35 minutes had to ask for a refund which I've never done before. They blamed the issue on new management and gave us the refund, but the lack of care and customer service was enough for me to not return back here.

I was meeting a friend at the bar to catch up and get drinks. The food was good and everything but the bartender, Brandon, was so abrasive and patronizing that we were immediately uncomfortable. As soon as he heard us speaking spanish with each other he just jumped right into our conversation. It was really awkward and upsetting. We would’ve stayed longer if the bartender wasn’t so off putting.

My party of four waited for nearly an hour for our food with no update at an almost empty restaurant. Eventually went inside to ask about it, and was informed that their computer system had gone down so the kitchen had not received any of our orders, but they were on the grill now. I understand problems happen, but to not inform anyone that was waiting that there was a problem is absurd. Not to mention the person I talked to tried to correct me that we had not been waiting almost an hour we had only been waiting 38 minutes. This was because the last person who ordered in our group had to use the restroom before he ordered, but we sent a text after we sat down that was almost an hour old. We then waited another 15 minutes for our food, which was not very good. The steak tacos had hunks unchewable fat, the steak quesadilla was almost entirely cheese, and they left off ingredients from one of the burritos. Not a very good experience.

I always order the Adobo chicken plate and sometimes the chips and salsa and street corn. Generally there is a consistent quality of food here but sometimes depending on who's cooking I guess the food is a little dry because it's already pre-made. Anyway I still like the overall setting and the bartenders do a decent job too.

Well, got the kids and wife's food out quickly. Theirs looked great. After 25 minutes, they were through eating, and I asked if I could have my food to eat with my family too. I was told all the food was brought out. There was 10 people in the restaurant. The guy that took my order has no attention span and obviously didn't care. Won't be back.

My husband and I love coming to this place until today. The person that who took our order (Avery) looked like she was having a bad day or was anxious to finish her shift. She had an angry face while taking out order and when she brought our food she threw our plates. She didn’t even ask if we wanted flour or corn tortillas. When we received the order I just ate the corn tortilla that I do not like because I was afraid if I were to return it, she would spit in my food. We felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome. Shortly after she finished her shift and left. Thank goodness for the staff that came in after her that were nice to us and made us feel happy/ welcomed again.

Family stopped by for tacos, nachos, and a few kids cheeseburgers. Outside seating was a nicest thing. The food was mediocre to say the least but what stood out most was the service. Food came out one at a time making it difficult to eat as a family. The drinks came out even later than the food and required us to go inside and ask for them again. We are still here… 45 minutes later… still waiting on a lost kids cheeseburger. Don’t think we’ll be wasting anymore time on this establishment. Cheers!

I love coming here. I go alone, with my boys or with my husband. We all go together every Halloween and hang out while our boys trick or treat. I have an amazing time, EVERY time I visit. The atmosphere is chill, the service is great and the food is never short of amazing. A definite must try if you've never been.

This place has a good atmosphere and it is around the park . If you are as me, take walks to open space for a beer, then this is your spot. Unfortunately, the food is not at the same level and event the basic , nachos for example, aren't eatable. You can get a very good pizza or pasta at Veccia just at the corner if you want real good food.
Go for the beer and you will enjoy the experience

Taco Tuesday prices are on only select varieties of tacos. Average taco costed about 5$ . We still ordered a variety to taste - either bland or swimming in oil .
Pros - Friendly staff, pet friendly and outdoor seating is nice .Pick dinner option than order just tacos
Prices and taste was not good at all.
Costed 40$ for a couple of below average tasting tacos.

Mockery of Mexican food. Undercooked “Mexican rice”. Carnitas might as well have been boiled pork. Barbacoa was flavorless. Nothing had any seasoning, not even the ground beef. Hopefully the tequila is better than the tacos, which wouldn’t be hard to do.

The food was good I give it 4 stars but my overall rating is a 2 due to customer service.. It's 2022 and I can't believe i entered a place that gave me a feeling of I don't belong there and the service backed it up the manager im assuming thats who hr was did say he would be with us in a moment when we entered but however; once he finished with the previous customers he walked off and after a few minutes the young lady there took our orders she wasn't the friendliest but wasn't necessarily rude either we ordered she brought us our food and that was it noone ever came back to see if we were still ok or if we needed anything else although the guy im assuming was manager did come out he walked right past us and upon leaving where we were he left from the other end instead of walking back past us still not asking are we ok or if we need anything else..As a manager in foodservice for over 20 years myself this was appalling and I felt really bad about tipping $1 but I just couldn't spend anymore of my money in a place that treated me and my colleagues in this manner...that was the vibe I got and they fulfilled it I will never patronize this location again...i will end this review with these wise words never judge a book by its cover

Sangria margarita tasted horrible like robitussin and they refused to swap it out for another drink or refund it. Never had this happen at a restaurant or bar before.

Not impressed with the price taken against the service offered. Priced at a full service restaurant but service is like taco bell. No water given, no nachos and salsa and charge 27$ for 4 tacos, no sir not under my watch. I dont mind paying the price but basic service should be given atleast

It used to be a nice restaurant that my husband and I really enjoyed, but the changes after covid turned me off and the food was not good when we went Saturday. Nothing was season at all, we even had to salt the queso! I don't think we'll be dining here again.

Located right across from moss rock preserve, we stopped after an 8 mile hike for lunch. The loaded nachos were good. They have a little different spin on the food which is cool. Nice selection of craft beers to at good prices compared to most restaurants. Bar tender did a great job to.

just tried to place a to-go order via phone. Asked for a simple substitution of pico de gallo instead of salsa, to which their employee responded "umm not sure, I'll have to ask the kitchen. I'm not gonna do that right now" then proceeded to say "worst comes to worst, you'll just get a salsa". LOL
Told him to cancel my order and will not be returning- horrible attitude and poorly trained staff.

Absolutely incredible little taco shop. Order at the register, grab your drinks, go find a table and they will bring you the food. Delicious, authentic taste. If you are in the area, make time to stop by. You will not be disappointed.

We enjoyed the nachos and tacos. I will say that the chorizo tacos are really heavy on the chorizo and not much else. So, only get them if you really like chorizo. In my opinion, the shrimp tacos were definitely superior. The shrimp was grilled perfectly and the Caribbean inspired toppings are a nice compliment to the saltiness. The refried beans and rice that come with both are solid.

Went last night at 530 and the place was not busy. Lady at register was unpleasant (I get it, COVID challenges). Food took forever to arrive. Tacos, rice and beans were all cold and flour tortillas were soggy. $10 guacamole was old and brown looking from oxidation. While the restaurant was not busy no one came to check on the table. We frequently eat at Vecchia and LDV was insanely good....this place could also be good. Last night it missed the mark.

We had nach's (1/2 order about right for 1 person who's not a big eater) & tuna taco' really good. Kinda slow on getting a beer and you have to go back to the counter to order a 2nd one THEN they bring it to you, so go easy on the hot sauce or you may be stuck for a few minutes waiting on your drink. That aside, good place, super nice staff.

Really great service and people! Seem really sincere about making your experience great. Nacho tots were great and fish taco. Wife lived the taco salad too. Very fresh.

Super good food!!!! This place wins my "queso of the year award". Which is a very prestigious honor. The staff is awesome as well. Seems they went out if their way to make sure we were taken care of.

The happy hour here is great and so are the margaritas. You can either sit at the bar and get served or order at the register and have it brought to your table. Pet friendly for outside seating. Great service and great food.
