El Olmeca Mexican Restaurant

Always an excellent time at El Olmeca! Great food, service is wonderful. They are attentive and food comes out fast and hot. The chips and salsa taste fresh and have the perfect amount of spice. We love the cheese dip here. And all of their food is well seasoned. They also have some really good lunch specials which are also served Sunday which I appreciate. The bar is really cute with the tiled counter. I only have great things to say about this place and we will continue to come back.

El Olmeca is located in the Kroger shopping center on Highway 72 in Madison. The food and the service are great. The lunch menu (see photos) is a great value with large portions. All meals start with chips and salsa. The Pollo Supremo (chicken and rice) and the Steak Quesadilla Lunch were both great, and we each had more than we could eat.

Popped in for lunch on a Saturday hoping to find a nice getaway from the hustle of chaotic weekenders. And I did just that.

Greeted right away and had helpful friendly service amidst a shift change. Everyone was so nice.

I am Pescatarian so I was happy to see several vegetarian and seafood options. I had the shrimp taco salad and a margarita ( 3p just in time for happy hour $6 ) it was perfect.

1st visit. Very clean establishment. Nice, chill environment. Very friendly, courteous, and attentive staff. Was served delicious chips, salsa, and beans. Food was very good. Served hot and fresh and seasoned well. Bathrooms are absolutely gorgeous and clean. Thursday nights are Bingo nights to win prizes with the lovely host Jessa. Prizes were $5 or $10 off the bill, free dessert, etc.... Decent kids menu. Decent prices. Had a nice health rating of 96. Will definitely be returning in the near future.

I ordered El Omeca to feed my office staff for the holidays. I've always had positive experiences when I dine in and thought take- out would be just as good. The restaurant is always clean and smells fresh like purple Fabuloso when I dine in and this has never affected the taste of the food. Our take out meals today smelled AND tasted like Fabuloso. Anything with batter (chile relleno), tortilla, or chicken had the very bitter chemical taste. None of us could finish our meals even when we removed it from the containers/packaging. I initially called the restaurant to report the issue, but the person I spoke to proceeded to disregard our concerns by telling me that "the food I ate here today tasted fine" and suggested I report our issues to the delivery service. Fortunately the delivery service refunded us for the items. I am so disappointed in the poor customer service from the restaurant directly. I do not recommend you order take out from this establishment or feel reassured that the customer support will be supportive if you have an issue.

I came tonight because it’s my son’s favorite restaurant and it’s his 8th birthday. But our server Oscar was too busy talking to his friends he forgot about refills after food was delivered, I had to get up and remind him. He also forgot that I told him it was my son’s birthday and tried to sing as we were walking out as I had to remind him. We won’t be back!

Went here with my family and sadly was super disappointed. Cute place with kind staff and great chips and salsa. Otherwise completely bombarded with the smell of cleaning supplies the moment you walk in the door. It's cool to be clean, but a restaurant should smell like a restaurant. Fajitas were pretty basic, nothing to write home about.

This is probably a great place to eat 364 days out of the year. However, DON'T go here on Cinco de Mayo. I just returned from lunch with my daughter, up from school for the semester, and wanted a dining experience. A nice, memorable dining experience. What I got was a rushed, undesirable one. Our waiter, whom I had to ask his name, was Antonio, and is probably a great waiter on normal business days. Today, he was anything but. We waited a good bit of time for our food, there was no bean dip served with the salsa and chips like usual, and we weren't given refills of anything or even asked if we needed anything. I realize this is probably their busiest day of the year but regardless, I suggest maybe a staffing increase. Our food was OK, nothing great and was overcharged for adding shrimp to my fajitas without being told of the price increase, I believe to increase the total bill. I tip great regardless but I was left very unimpressed by the entire visit. Nobody smiled, all the staff seemed pressured and no personality whatsoever. I've eaten here before and received good food and service so maybe they were all just overwhelmed with the crowd. A suggestion to the owner would be to go on a wait until the waiters are able to competently wait on their customers. Another bit of advice would be to remind the staff that friendliness and a smile goes a long way.

The staff was friendly and prompt. The food was delicious and this will definitely become one of our go to Mexican spots. Jalapeno fajitas were very spicy and delicious. The steak supermo was also delicious. The beans with the chips were cooked beans and one of the best I have had, not just some regualr refried beans plopped in a bowl.

Where do I start? Wow…I could describe this restaurant with one word. PERFECTION. I’ll give it 3 words, FLAVOR, BALANCE, FRESH

Truly the best meal I’ve ever had at any restaurant. The flavors were so balanced, starting with the fresh salsa with a subtle hint of garlic, right amount of salt and cilantro. Our waiter recommended I get the chicken burrito. I was hesitant. Boy was he right. I’ve never had shredded chicken taste so good. Juicy, and savory and the subtle hints of Mexican spice. I ordered a fresh salad too! Super duper fresh! The kids had cheese quesadillas and Spanish rice. The rice is phenomenal. Never in my life of 40 years have I enjoyed a meal like this from start to finish. The service was great. The decor is very bold and the restaurant is super clean! What more could anyone ask for? Bravo to the chef at this restaurant!!!

Was amazing. I had the fish tacos, and my partner had the stuffed pepper with shrimp and cheese. Everything was so delicious, especially the salsa and sauces they gave with the fried fish. The staff were very friendly and helpful the entire time.

Look at their menu. If you see something you're interested in, it's probably going to be good. These people know what they're doing over there

UPDATE 8/12/23 i come here and get a beef burrito with no red sauce only cheese sauce and or a chimichanga now like 2-4 times a month the owners are amazing the lady who is always up front who I think is the owner number one is gorgeous and number 2 has the best customer service ever!! It was dark in the place. The refried beans smelled spoiled. The beef was not seasoned. The quesadilla was not that. It was a taco drizzled in cheese.

This was the most disgusting Mexican food I've ever had in my life. The quesedilla was completely soggy, the soft tacos beef had a weird metallic flavor and they were completely soggy too, and even the hard tacos taste terrible. I will never eat from here again 🤢🤮

This is our second time eating here. Both times the service was great and the food was very good. We've recently moved here from Central Texas, much of what we've tried in Huntsville just wasn't good. This is good. We'll definitely be back.

We stopped here for dinner for our first time. Mexican can really vary, but this is kind of what I consider standard Tex Mex in most states I have had Mexican in. This isn’t a bad thing, but it’s not my favorite type of Mexican, although a lot of people love it. So take this rating with that in mind.

Chips and salsa were good. Salsa was more acidic than I am used to, but that was a good thing. I like varying types of salsa. They came with some beans too and these were probably my favorite part of the meal.

My wife had some nachos and she really liked them. If she did reviews, she probably would have rated the place a 4. She didn’t say anything about it, but the lettuce on her nachos seemed pretty steamed and wilted when she got them. That would have been a big no no for me.

I had the enchiladas suiza. The green sauce was good and the chicken was ok on its own, but close to blandish. Kind of middle of the road enchiladas for me. The beans were good. The rice was a bit mushy and not for me.

The place was decorated well and our server was great however. I mean, give it a shot as my tastes differ and my wife liked it more.

My family and I have ate at this restaurant many many times in the past. Almost always it is great and we always find ourselves coming back. This time, right off the bat, the salsa was absolutely nasty. I used to pride this restaurant on their salsa, so that is pretty disappointing. If I’m being honest, it only tasted like tomato paste and nothing else. After asking for a new cup, it tasted the same. We looked past this, until we got our food. First of all one of our plates were completely wrong, and everything was bad. The rice literally tasted like it was boiled and that’s it and so did the (more expensive that they didn’t let us know) grilled chicken. No flavor, just bad. The guacamole tasted old and I gagged. Server was nice tho. Just don’t go here. Based on reviews, owners don’t acknowledge their mistakes. Just don’t go here to be honest they lost their touch. 👎

The faces are smiling and happy to be there and the atmosphere is great. The service is slow, you sit for a bit before a server comes to greet you. The food comes out quickly, hot and fresh, I do urge you to drink slowly, the servers apparently are not obligated to get you refills; you will choke.

All I wanted was to have my food prepared properly. I understand you guys were closing pretty soon and that’s why the order got rushed. You could have said you were closing soon and not take us. When you came over to talk to us, you came with an attitude assuming we wanted the food for free. All I wanted was to have what we ordered but your repose was “Everything looked good when it was served”. Sure, I had nothing better to do and sit there and mess up our food so we get it for “free”.

For your information we paid over $130. Not a single time we asked to take off money for any items you served. Are you a joker? Do you even know how to run a restaurant? We paid for our food.

Walked in, and the restaurant smelled like cleaning products. We should have left immediately but decided to give it a chance. Service was slow even though the dining area was empty. The food was unremarkable. Taco and enchilada I could have made much better. I regretted taking my husband there. We will not return.

We went in on a Sunday evening. The service was great. We knew our food would be good based on the chips and salsa. It was the first time I’d also been served beans with salsa. The combination was different but delicious!! It was entertaining watching the one servers run while bringing food to various tables. I had a chimichanga. It came with lots of beans and rice, gauc, and sour cream. I thought the actual chimi should’ve been bigger. My wife had a giant chicken burrito. Both dishes were delicious. I had a regular frozen Margarita and she had a top shelf one on the rocks. Both were good and strong. We’ll definitely return!!

I’ve ordered delivery from El Olmeca several times in the past 12 months (2022-23). They serve VERY large portions at a fairly low price. Seriously - everything I’ve had has tasted great…and did I mention, they serve HUGE portions? 🤩 My delivery was through a food delivery service app and not the restaurant directly.

My first experience at this restaurant was super! My second had my blood boiling that i will never return. Your waitress which names I believe is Tina was absolutely horrible. She not only overcharged me for a regular size margarita $12 (she charged me $16) i had asked her about it and she explained that since i ordered the maragrona that it was an up charge of $4 ... $4 for a mini corona seems absolutely absurd to me since i could have purchased a full size draft for the same price (but its whatever) but also rolled her eyes at my questions.. your $4 mistake and your service from someone who doesn't seem to care about their job has lost you my family's business for life and anyone i am associated with.

I love El Omeca!! It’s my favorite Mexican restaurant in this area! All the food I’ve tried is delicious, margaritas are fabulous, the wait staff and hostess are always polite and efficient. Tonight was my first experience ordering take out. I wanted nachos and I wanted good nachos so I immediately thought of El Omeca. I easily placed my order online and picked it up. Everything went smoothly and I guess my order was right? I have never ordered nachos from here before. I just assumed they would be good and yes they were okay. I was under the impression that nachos automatically came with lettuce, tomato and sour cream at least. But I got beef nachos and they came with beef and cheese on chips. That’s all. I paid close to 12.00 for beef and cheese? I wouldn’t have an issue paying that price and didn’t have an issue paying that price before getting order when I thought lettuce, tomato and sour cream would also be part of it. I don’t mind spending money at el Omeca and have plenty of times and will continue. I just no not to order nachos cause for beef and cheese on chips, I don’t feel as if my 12.00 was well spent here like I always have before. I originally had 3 stars but gave an extra star since every time before I’ve been here-I haven’t ever felt I wasted money and was always satisfied and excited about my next visit here.

Good food, good customer service, food came out fast and their passion fruit margaritas are amazing! I went on a Tuesday around 3pm. Their floors were extremely slippery though so be extra careful.

The food was excellent and fast getting to the table. The waiter must have been kidnapped or he didn't want a tip.

This restaurant is a sister restaurant to the one in Ardmore TN. I will recommend both highly for Good Food, Service, Atmosphere and most importantly hospitality. You will be satisfied.

Everything I’ve had has been good. Wait staff is always on top of things and friendly. Prices are reasonable for portions. Enjoy coming here.

Excellent food, choriqueso was great.
Would also recommend the 3 amigos.
The appetizers where large and very fresh (guacamole)

Great place to support a large party. We had about 25 people while we were visiting in Huntsville and they took care of us. Make it worth and stop by on Taco Tuesday.
