Las Trojas Cantina

I came here with a friend the other night. It was pretty empty as it was a holiday weekend, so that was nice that it was quiet. Our server was very helpful and attentive. He came by many times to our table and grabbed whatever we needed/asked for in a timely manner. He was very polite and accommodating. My receipt said that his name was David Lorenzo but I’m not sure if they use the same name for everybody, or they have their own individual logins. But he had just moved here from Kentucky and it was only his third or fourth day working at this restaurant. He did a great job! Hope they keep him and wish him all the best. Food was delicious and their house made hot sauce was good. Wish their salsa was spicier and that they they weren’t so pricey. The restaurant itself has a good atmosphere and the bar area is very nice.

First time dining here. I was disappointed I ordered chimichangas one beef one chicken. The beef was not seasoned it tasted like a ground up hamburger. The chicken had a little season on it but neither of the chimichangas was crisp they were soggy. On the bright side it was hearty portions too bad the taste wasn’t up to par to enjoy the hearty portions. The Restaurant was clean and very large but empty at 6:30 on a weekday. The food had no authenticity to the taste.

My husband and I stopped here for lunch while we were in town and we’re so glad we did! I had grilled chicken tacos and my husband had fajitas. The food was fantastic. Our waiter was super attentive without being overbearing. The best part, for me, was everything was so clean. The bathrooms were spotless!! Miguel is doing a great job managing this restaurant! Definitely can’t recommend Las Trojas Cantina enough!

Ok so sat for 15 minutes when everyone just standing around as not very busy. Waiter finally came and asked if we were ready. We placed our order and another Waiter had to come and ask for our order again. As first Waiter didn't write it down right or ask correct questions. Sat there and had to ask for my Cheese Sauce to be brought to me, but couldn't eat because all the chips were little pieces. We paid for our meal. Manager wasn't a manager at all. As he didn't try to even fix the problem. He just had excuses when there wasn't any. We went back, because previously had excellent service. I left no tip last night and will not return to this location.

Beautiful place, amazing margaritas, friendly staff and a cool robot! We had the Bama Margarita which came in an impressively large glass and the Black Margarita was tasty. Bean and cheese dip had a lot more cheese than expected but you can never have too much cheese! Oh, the carne asada tacos were perfect. They made the meat crisp just the way I like. Lastly we had Taco Pastor which is pork tacos that came with pineapple…very good. The robot that delivers the meals was a cool experience!

Ordered the steak Rios tacos. Steak was burnt and tasted like the scrapping off the grill. Spoke with the manager who was nonchalant and really didn't care. The server was awesome very attentive and apologetic even though it wasn't her fault. Good thing about it the dog gets some steak and shrimp. All in all nice restaurant food and manager sucked. Oh yeah need to throw out beans something is in them and manager gave a discount even after I told him not to.

Ordered a beer on draft and got it in a bottle. Wouldn't complain but I wasn't able to leave the restaurant without horrible diarrhea. My partner and I are both in diarrhea hell currently.

Shame food was decent otherwise.

The private seating was very nice, my food was good, there was an issue with my friend’s food she ordered. Her order wasn’t correct and the employees refused to bring her the correct order.

Los Trojas is great and they rarely miss. usually meets expectations.

Post-covid pricing is wild, though. We used to go all the time because it was affordable and really tasty, but now some of the meals we used to get are so expensive for what they are (Angel's plate and Fiesta plate ~$20, used to be closer to $15).

We went to service was outstanding by our waiter, but we ordered $19.99 margaritas and they said we couldn’t take it to go. They said oh but we sell to go margaritas which are just for us to go margaritas they would not do that because they were cheaper so we drank like two sips out of our drink and they made us leave them there Horrible and horrible attitude. We will not be back.

My friends and I are here tonight and we are from out of town. The service was okay. Samantha was our server and in the end gave the run around and was pretty rude by not acknowledging when I had a question. She turned the other way to avoid my question and I gave her a tip before she started acting this way. I will not be coming back !!!

First time dining here, arrived around 5pm. One of the larger restaurants in northern Alabama with 2 'cantina bars', very clean with robotic food service that was not only unique but brought our food out seemingly straight from the oven. Manager visited our table often asking if everything was all right, and I expressed to her that our food was tasty and delicious (I had the Enchiladas Suizas and my wife had their huge Pork burrito). Great find for us, and will return with family and friends.

I have been a loyal customer to Los Trojas for years now. I went to the one in Madison and then started at the one in the old Golden Corral when it opened.
I’m giving it two stars because the prices have gotten absolutely ridiculous.

I came in tonight with my family and ordered the kids meals first. A cheese quesadillas with fries, mac and cheese, and a side of fries. Apparently they don’t do a “side” of fries, and I got charged for three full kids meals. A kids meal here is $9. That is so high for serving us Kraft Mac and cheese on a plate. Couldn’t even be real Mac and cheese, it was $9 for some Kraft Mac and cheese. I’m still flabbergasted.

My husband and I ordered the same thing we always used to get, deluxe quesadilla and the angel plate. The ingredients haven’t changed but now both meals are the price of what their steak meals used to be. They are the same portions, same meals, and yet they’re $5-6 more expensive.
And the cheese dip. I love cheese dip, and the price of it today was just so upsetting.

All of this is just to say that while I have enjoyed this restaurant for years, because of the prices for a standard meal I won’t be coming back. It isn’t supposed to cost the same as a high quality restaurant for average quality food.

We love dining here with our kids because of the cat-bot! They love watching her deliver food to tables. They have a vast menu and today I tried the fajitas Hawaiiana and it's a new favorite. My kids loved their cheeseburger and chicken fingers too.

Placed an online order and they didn't put it in when received. The restaurant wasn't even busy. I waited 30 minutes at the restaurant for my food to be made. Because when I went to pick up my food they said it wasn't ready yet, but they still hasn't even put in the order until I checked on my order a second time. Then when I spoke with a manager to get a refund because I didn't want my food anymore she said she couldn't refund me because their online orders go through doordash and that I would have to contact doordash for a refund. But Doordash said I had to contact the restaurant for any issues. The manager clearly didn't want to help me though, because when I asked her if there was anything else she could do she smirked and said no.

Went to lunch and we were sat at a booth. After sitting there a couple minutes we noticed ants all on the walls by our booth. We asked our waitress if we could move, and they let us. But after reporting the ants, our waitress barely served us and treated us so weirdly. Will go to their other locations next time.

I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a little while now, so we went for an informal birthday dinner. I was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere and attention to detail in this establishment! It's very pretty, from the decor to the glasses. The food was very very good. I had the combination dinner with an enchilada, hard taco and chile relleno (my favorite) a side of rice. Just excellent. My margarita was DELICIOUS. (you can get them to-go!) Our waiter was wonderful. Service is great. I would 10/10 recommend and I will be going back again.

Took 5 minutes just to get seated watching two employees just stand there having a conversation looking over us occasionally. We were the only people in the restaurant besides a Party of Five. Then finally got sat and then watched five employees standing around talking and nobody even asked us if we wanted something to drink for 10 minutes. Got got up and left. Did get to try their chips and salsa which taste like picante sauce just blended more.

Never have had a bad meal nor poor service for lunch. One of my go to places. After living 16 years in New Mexico this is closest to their food I can get around here. Still looking for a huge breakfast burrito with Xmas chili topping and cheese.

The margaritas were waaaaaay too sweet. Didn't taste like they had any fresh lime juice in them at all. ( Perhaps lime cool-ade with a a splash of trquila)Maybe they were just poured out of a bottle. The food was pretty good though. The decor of the place was beautiful.

Their enchilada and burrito are the same thing. Their staff claimed “:..in Mexico burritos are larger enchiladas.”

Also, their staff came by to mention that they don’t serve drinks into glasses to not be liable (this was for the margarita pitcher). So they rather have the customer have an accident!?

Food was basic and bland. Place was a scam.

I would avoid like the plague.

I can honestly say that my experience eating at Las Trojas Cantina was a memory I will never forget. I can sum up my dinner there in one sentence and you will realize how unforgettable it really was. For the first time ever in my life my friends and I were served our food that we ordered by means of a authentic, sassy, and not bad looking ROBOT! If I was attracted to ROBOTs I definitely would have asked for them digits. My Life is now complete and I can go on knowing that I have experienced this phenomenon and made a new friend who happens to have good work ethic. AHHHH!!! GREAT TIMES!!

Idk what happened but they changed their food and it taste very cheap now. Maybe their higher priced items are better but it's pricey to get a good meal here. If you have money to spend to come but if you want affordable and better tasting mex food go elsewhere.

Put in a to go order at the bar. Fine a to go fee. But in addition I order an item from kids menu…for my kid and they charged me a $3.00 up charge. I asked a manager how to fix this and she said that’s what it is. I asked if she wanted to see a picture of my kid lol. Very odd. Very sweet bartender. Fix the silly issue please.

Horrible service. Staff is rude and slow.
My server disappeared. Sat for 25mins waiting to get my salsa refilled. I got up and went to the bar and ask for salsa and a drink and she said I'll get your server and walked away. The salsa and the drinks were right behind her. The server took another 5mins to come. I will not be back.

The place was absolutely beautiful! My experience was terrible. It couldn’t have been worse, actually. They got my husband’s order completely wrong. (He ordered a $13 dish and they brought him the most expensive meal on the menu. The waitress didn’t offer to fix it. She asked him if he was ok with what they brought him. He felt bad that maybe shed get in trouble so he left it alone. Then… I ordered a taco salad. Literally, the one a taco cabana is made better. The “salad” had a pinch of lettuce. I asked the waitress for more lettuce amd she came back to tell me that the manager told her that its just how the salad is made. I told her that I would like more lettuce because I didn’t like it the way it was made. She continued to argue with me about my order (which wasn’t supposed to be a big deal) so I said its fine. She took my salad and my husband continued to eat his meal. Once she brought the bill, she still charged the salad even though she took it. (I didnt give it to her). The manager refused to work with me; she was just as argumentative and unprofessional as the waitress. Very disappointing. Such a beautiful place though. Customer service was again, the absolute worst!

Waitress did not greet us. Just shoved the chips in our direction. Never offered us dessert. We would have ordered cheese and.icecream. Other customers were offered. I will be hard pressed to go there as I have other choices.

Great experience . We had 3 different waiters serve our table which was confusing, hence the 4 star review on service. Otherwise the food was great, the prices were good and the atmosphere was fun. Good music and a little bit of a live solo artist made for a fun night out with the fam.

I ordered the steak fajita special. Well let's just say, there was nothing special about it. The food was bland. No seasoning or flavor. The steak, onions and bell peppers were chopped not sliced. To top it off the waiter forgot our tortillas 😔

My husband ordered the carne asada plate and his food was also bland.

We’ve been to Las Trojas twice now, both were bad experiences. The first time we waited for about 20 minutes for tortillas and utensils after we got our food. The second time we stopped by to get a drink to go, which took a while to even place our order. We were then given the wrong drinks, which cost about twice as much. Instead of correcting the issue, the guy tried to convince us we ordered the other drink.

The food was great as usual, and the Fiesta Plate and Alahabras are my go-to meals. However, the karaoke night was out of control. My family had to endure explicit lyrics and foul language being blasted through the restaurant while trying to eat. I will not subject my family to that again.

They easily accommodated a large group of about 30 people for a birthday party. Food was all brought out together, and as far as I know it was all correct, tasty, hot and timely. We will be back the next time we have a large group gathering. Thank you Las Trojas for a great experience.

This is in regards to all locations. They jacked prices after covid and smaller portions. Dining in once (Madison location) I ordered something that had a baby back ribs on top. They were rotten. You could smell thst it was old pork ribs. I haven't been back since. This last time was a pick up order my mother in law ordered for everyone and 2 entrees were not in the order. (Hwy 53) my wife is a light weight when it comes to Margaritas. 2 and she is inebriated. She drank 4 and didn't even get a buzz she said. Trust me I would have had to carry her out if they didn't water them down. There are a lot of Mexican restaurants in town avoid these guys.

Place was very much not busy, only one quarter of the seating area was seated (with not much people there). And in this situation, I was seated in a booth by the kind front staff, then promptly ignored by whoever (I never saw them) was waiting on the table. No drink order, no food order. I ended up just leaving and telling the staff at the front.

Nice looking restaurant, attentive waiting staff. However, I was very disappointed with the food. I ordered fish, and it was uncooked in some parts, overcooked in others, and I had to "fish" through lots of bones for just a little meat, pun intended. For $31, that was quite a letdown, and I was still hungry. The rice was good, though. It's also disappointing and surprising that ALL of their beans have pork (meat) when they do business in a community that regularly vegan and vegetarian options because of plant-based lifestyles. Pretty shocking. I will not be back.

It's a bit expensive. We accidentally spent $70 there despite 4 waters, no alcohol, and getting jalapeños and pico on the side for $5 each. Be careful of those pricey charges.

I have been to many Las Trojas Cantinas from all over Alabama and Tennessee. This by far was the worst one I have ever been too. This review will be in depth because too many bad things took place on this one visit. I started off ordering a Margarita and when it was brought to my table the waiter spilled about a 1/5 of it on the table and just said sorry. So I asked for some napkins to clean it up myself. About 20 minutes have gone by and I still have not received my napkins nor has the waiter come back to the table so I asked another staff member to bring some napkins so I could clean up this mess. My original waiter finally brought out some napkins and had the nerve to ask me why I didn't use the cloth napkin my silverware was in. I told him I had already used it because my Margarita glass was all sticky. Finally our food arrived and I did not get my tortillas that came with my meal so I asked our waiter to bring me some. I thought well how could he mess this up. To my surprise he did. The tortillas that were brought to me had chewed up food and bites out of the tortillas. I was brought someone else food that they did not finish eating and had spit out chewed up food in it. At this point I was pissed. My dad that was with me had to calm me down. I wish I had told management at the time when I was there last week but I felt I could not control my anger so I left. That is why I'm leaving this review now. I really hope this does not happen to anyone else!

Our first experience here and it was nice. The menu is HUGE and the food is good and authentic. They have large portions. However, I don't think we'll be back with the kids. The food is a bit pricey. You can expect an entre to cost $25 pp. Won't make it a habit but will definitely be back in the future, now that we know what to expect.

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants. The food is always seasoned well and fresh. Service has been great each time I have went. I usually get the chicken chimichangas with rice and beans. Always have a good experience here.

Went there for my sister in law’s birthday. We had a very large party (15). Food was amazing and service was excellent! They even brought out a sombrero for the birthday girl and sang for her. We had a great time!

The atmosphere is beautifully decorated. This unfortunately is the only thing positive I can say. They had a man singing when you walk in that was full volume. So loud that we asked to be seated in the far back and could still barely hear our conversations and this was on a Wednesday night. My friend ordered a combination plate and was brought the wrong items by the robot machine. She tried to send it back but the waitress argued with her and told her she would get in trouble if she sent it back. She then asked for a manager who brought the plate back and told her her items correct. She ordered a burrito but was brought an enchilada that was smothered in red enchilada sauce and the manager argued with her and told her that burritos are suppose to have that on them. My other friend tried to make the situation better and told the manager to just leave it and she will pay for it. The manager left it and walked away without a word. She refused to do anything about my friends order or at least bring her something else. Then the robot came a second time thinking it was bringing us food but it was empty. I guess the robot was having a bad day too. We were then given our bills and noticed they charged us $21 for one medium size margarita!! Yes $21!!!! I’ve never had any place charge me so much for a margarita before. Just in shock! My friends are I were appalled at our experience here and will never be back! Lesson learned!!

I have been to every Las Trojas location in Huntsville and Athens and it’s always been consistently good food and service, but our visit to the new location on university (the old golden coral) tonight blew the rest out of the water. The food was fantastic and I love the atmosphere at this location, but the outstanding service from our server Ars was what really pushed it over the top. Thanks Ars for the best dining experience we’ve had in several years!

Standard Mexican fare. More expensive than other places. The restaurant is very large and has tons of seating. the kitchen was a little slow.

Good food and friendly staff. We went for dinner. 3 adults and 3 children. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. Cheese dip was excellent.

This is a beautiful location but the service and drinks just don’t compare to the hwy 53 location which I’ve been going to for over a decade. This is my third time here and each time I order the same drink.. each time it is different, the last time it was pure syrup. Maybe it’s a difference in bar tenders.. idk but I won’t be back to this location.

Update: so the drink they replaced the syrup with is pure alcohol… it’s not even the right color.. for those that know Los Trojas, the black margarita was literally the color Amber like a glass of iced tea. Smh

The restaurant was a complete disappointment. The food was bland and the portions were small for their price. Our server was clearly having a bad night. Would not recommend.

This place is on par with the other locations in the are. The service (including the robot), food, and atmosphere were all great. There is plenty of seating, plenty of parking, and there's not likely to be a wait.

They serve all the usual Mexican food favorites, plus more.
Would go again.

The food came out slow and I as not correct. The entertainment for the night was too loud to enjoy dinner as well.

Amazing tex-mex restaurant. Service was quick, the food was fantastic and they even had robots bring the food to the table! I will definitely go back.
