Mediocre food and sub-par, unsat service. I've ~500 reviews and less than 3% of them are bad--this is one of 'em, regrettably. I could deal with the rickety, dingy interior atmosphere if, at the end of the day, the food was good, but not only was it barely so-so (and I had high hopes with a hankerin' for some poblanos...my wife's veggie quesadilla was pitiful ), but the service was abysmal--to wit the young dude w/ curly hair who was, at 3:30pm with only 3 tables sat, overwhelmed and on the struggle bus. Waited for seating, waited for orders, waited for food, waited for drinks after 10min of eating chips and he couldn't even get that right: "water no ice and a sweet tea please" became a warm tea for me and no drink for my wife, period. And it only got worse, even though 20 min later 2 females tried to do damage control by hustling and being friendly. Another 2 minutes and we were going to slap down money for the drinks and walk out--I kid you not. The only silver-lining is the cheap prices...but you get what you pay for, and I for one would never come back here.

Me and boyfriend come here pretty regular! It’s our favorite restaurant. Today Nevaeh was our server and she was great! Drinks were great and food was great as always! Very happy with our service!

This place is the gem of Cullman. As a frequent visitor of Mexican restaurants around the southeast, Buenavista is on another level. The food was amazing, the margaritas were strong and excellent, service was fast, and our server was excellent. I'll be coming back anytime I'm in town.

EDITED TO ADD: It made my husband extremely sick. He had the Pollo Fundido.
We ordered food for our family and it was decent, but I got the Nachos Machos and the fried chicken on top tasted like chicken nuggets. The consistency was that way as well, it’s the same chicken I think as the kids chicken finger and fries meal. Which I thought, at first, that they forgot my kids chicken. They didn’t, it looks almost exactly the same as the thick cut steak fries. And also has a chicken nugget consistency. 3/5 stars because my husband and youngest child’s food was good.

Waited for 20 minutes and it wasn't that busy. We had a party of 3. Waitress was cold as ice. Brought chips, our drinks, and food and never came to ask about how we were doing. Second drink took over 5 mins and it was dead on a Thursday. Food was bland, no condiments on table. Other places to eat and will not go back.

The staff is not friendly, they will look right at you standing waiting to be seated or picking up a to go or doordash order and keep going with out speaking or helping. They make you feel like you are more of a bother than anything.

Horrible service from server and manager. One plate came out and the server sat it down and walked away. Over 10 minutes later she came back with the other plate. No explanation other than she didn’t cook it. I asked for the manager, as it’s not custom to serve one person at a table at a time. Manager said she didn’t cook it and gave no apology or explanation. Gave several chances to make things right, but with major attitude the manager ended up taking $10 off the ticket. I work in a restaurant and I highly suggest customer service training for both. Food was good, but the experience was not. Would suggest ordering Togo.

One of the best Al Pastor street tacos you can get! I love that they put big chunks of pineapple in them that way you get the perfect combo of savory and sweet. It's in my top 2 places to go because face it some days a girl just needs tacos, cheese dip, and margaritas when it's been one of those days. Then top off the meal with their fried ice cream. Marvelous just marvelous

Saturday night and we wanted Mexican food. We had been going to Cabo and was always curious why it was so crowded as the food was not that good. So off to Buenavista. The chips were hot and homemade. Salsa was outstanding. We got a jumbo Marguerita, a special dinner that came on two huge plates with a hard taco, 1 chili releno, 1 chalupa, 1 tamale, 1 enchilada, rice and beans plus guacamole. My S.O. had a tamale and refried beans, plus we bought a small cheese dip. ALL OF IT WAS FANTASTIC! The best in Jasper. We brought home enough leftovers to feed two. And all that was under $36.00. The tamales were on corn husks. Fabulous. I will only be going here from now on. 10 STARS!

Definitely won't be back they had no clean silver first set of plastic they gave me looked like they pulled it out of the trash can. Food was not that great. The quickest thing to make took longer than the rest. And our waitress had attitude when i asked for silverware.

I order take out and I'm a Dasher For Door Dash So I'm In Here Alot They Have Great Food Great workers and really take care of the customers takeout or eat in I've sat waiting on dash orders and watched them go back over over again to check if customer needed anything Great Folks Great Food Love The Way They Decorated A Must Visit Plus You Order The faita meal with chicken steak and shrimp there it's $20 cheaper then at CaboSanLucas

Ordered a frozen margarita and it was weak. Not just the alcohol content but the mix flavor was weak also. It was very watered down. I asked for another one in replace of the first one I ordered and the response I got was " my manager said she can't remake me one and that's just the way they taste frozen" I've had several from this restaurant before and never have had one bad until this visit. Food was bland and I've never seen refried beans and rice turned into mush. Looked like some kind of chip dip instead of a "side order" to go with a meal

Awful service! Our taquitos were overcooked to a point they couldn't even be chewed. Hard as a rock! It took them 40 min to get them remade. Our waiter disappeared after getting our food order. We had to hunt down a server to help us. Our food was wrong. Supposed to be chicken, got beef. They were rude when we said we did want it remade correctly. We asked for a manager 4 times and NEVER got one. And we still had to pay full price for everything. 1/10 and that's being generous

The poorest excuse for a Mexican restaurant that I have ever been to. I travel for work each week. This is the worst most generic place ever. Do not eat here. The chips suck. The salsa is store bought. The cheese dip is meh. The food is horrible, all of it. We ate three different entrées, they all were wrong but we ate them anyways because we were starving and it was still nasty , cheap and just pathetic. Nothing about our order was right. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!

I took my 13 year old baby granddaughter after checking her out of school early. They had Veteran's Day program honoring local Veteran's of K-8th grade students. My granddaughter, Maddie, is in the 8th grade and the baby of my four grandchildren. This was our last program. Her Granddaddy, Robert F Deason Jr, served in the US Navy from 1967-1971. He will be 75 years old February 14, 2022. We attended several programs at Lupton School and my oldest daughter and Maddie's mother, taught Special Education for 17 years and 6 years at Sumiton Elementary. Her Master's Degree is Diagnostics of Special Needs Students K-12. This would have been her 25th year of teaching. She is now working at Walker County Board of Education as Resource Director and travels to each school to assist Special Education Teachers and Students.

Stopped by on a whim on the way back to Birmingham. Chili Colorado with pork was fantastic! Especially loved the salsa picosa - extra spicy & fresh. Samuel was a great server who helped navigate a rather robust menu for a local Mexican restaurant. Will return!

Stopped in for lunch today. Ordered a tamale, chile relleno, taco, and chiles toreados. Also ordered salsa picosa for my chips. Dining area was clean. Salsa picosa was just right on spice. Hard shell taco was average (but all hard shell tacos are). The tamale was very good. The masa was a little thick, but it wasn't dry because they offer it topped with beef or chicken in red sauce. It had a great flavor. The chile relleno was tasty. It was cooked fork tender and the sauce was great. The cheese on the inside was a little thickzero but it wasn't off-putting. I do like a little meat in mine and this was only cheese, but it was tasty. The chiles toreados were cooked tender (many places undercook the jalapeños and leave them too crunchy, but not here). It was served with grilled onions and lime slices just how I like. Service was very polite, helpful, and friendly. I was very happy with the staff. I'll definitely be visiting again when in town.

Very clean plenty parking.We had awesome Nacho pastor the steak was very tender very flavorful.Waitress was very attentive.You can order to go.They sale alcoholic drinks we had beer cheese dip was hot most places its barely warm chips were crisp.I would recommend.The restaurant seemed to be handicapped accessible.
