SKIP TACO BELL******this locally owned restaurant serves fresh food for less money and the same amount of time or less*******

My total was $14.85 with tax for the meal and a side of guacamole. The meals come with fresh salsa and fresh chips. If you're thinking of ordering online, save yourself the delivery fees and go pick it up. Super close, order took less than 15 min total.

Guacamole is fresh, chunks of avocado and tomato (not the weird green paste at Taco Bell)

Rice was nice and fluffy, cheese quesadilla had so much cheese I was glad I didn't order cheese sauce. The pepper was fresh, excellent flavor, really really good.

I've had the rice and beans, and again, why in the world go to Taco Bell when you can get fresh, made to order Mexican food for less money. And support a local business

The outside of the building looks a little rough, inside is nice and cool. For the price, skip the 15-20 min wait at a drive thru, come to the restaurant, have a margarita while you wait for your meal or go in and eat in the air conditioning. Kids meals VERY generously portioned and excellent price. The kids menu beats anything taco bell could offer.

The entire menu is 1000% better then taco bell.

Think about how much you spent at Taco Bell last time. The last bean burrito I got from there ,could have been beans, could have been cat food? It was horrible.

For less than taco bell, you could go in, sit down, order a combo and a drink, leave a decent tip and actually have a meal worth your money. And have fresh chips and salsa while you wait for your meal.

I've driven by this place so many times. The health score is an A, they have 3 employees with servsafe certification.

Next time you're heading to Taco Bell, skip it and try a locally owned restaurant. Fresh food, friendly people, cheaper than "fast food" casual enough for families, if you normally order bc you want to avoid ppl, I think it's casual enough you could run in in sweats or decent PJs to run in and grab a pick up order.

Very disappointed with our visit. Food was cold my husband's food did not come out at the same time and it was at least 10 minutes longer. My nachos were soggy and cold. Husband ordered chicken quesadilla Supreme and got a plain one with rice and beans. No one checked on us asked if we wanted a refill on our drinks or anything. Will not return. The place was no more crowded than any typical weekend and the servers were not working.

Lunch menu price is I believe $4.50.
Food is good
The sauce is good.
The waiters have gotten better.
Well, I took 1 star away because sometimes, not all the time. The staff at times can be off there game. But I understand everyone has bad days. 👍
And the sweet chimichanga is a good desert, and for only $2.00

El Cazador - Authentic and delicious Mexican food at a decent price and in a casual place served with heart. We stopped right off the 20 freeway before continuing into Atlanta. There were several locals there and it was getting busy as we left. The gentleman who served us was wonderful and attentive even though it was getting busier and busier after we arrived. I tried the Brocheta Acapulco which was grilled chicken and grilled shrimp, with rice, and a guacamole salad. My daughter had the shrimp, rice, cheese dish that I think was called Pancho’s Special. My son had the El Cazador special which was 3 enchiladas with lettuce, avocado, tomato, and sour cream. If you’re passing thru the area or live nearby, it’s definitely worth going.

I love love love this place! Many memories here on dates…. Bringing my parents….. even take out in 2020! Meeting here for girls’ night… inviting my neighbor … dining on my own. Always good service, attentive, each meal I tried is always delicious! My bartender girlfriend signs off on the great margaritas!

My food was put together so poorly, the taco and burrito were not seasoned at all and tasted like plain hamburger meat. My server didn't listen to my order and just through rice on everything and not only that, they DRENCHED my quesadilla in cheese there was no tortilla anymore just soggy bread and a big puddle of cheese. My server never came back to check on us. Not coming back. My server was nice but she just didn't ever come back.

Ordered chicken fajitas. If you eat fajitas you know how they come out of the kitchen. A cloud of heat and smoke! Most meat I've had in fajitas ever I think. Got meal deal with refried beans, rice, and all the fixins...brought lunch tomorrow home. Really good. She had a chicken quesadilla that was good too. Salsa, chips, all good.

We haven't been here in years. Not sure why?
The chips and salsa were plentiful. The chips were very light and served hot from the oven. They were Devine. The salsa was more robust than most local offerings. May have been chopped more finely for a more even flavor. A wonderful sensation on the tongue.
I got the Chimichanga, beef, with no beans, sour cream and guacamole on side, (for Ashley). I asked for extra lettuce, onions and tomatoes in place of the beans.
The salad fixings were cut fresh. The onions were sharp and sweet. (Too early for Vidalias but almost that sandy sweet taste with a nice MEAN bite that was very enjoyable and unexpected!) The tomatoes were rich red and bursting with flavor.
The rice was pretty blonde with a hint of butter on top. Perfectly tender and yet firm.
The CHANGA was a masterpiece. Gently folded and full of steak or roast so tender it just fell apart. The shell was perfectly crisp and covered with cheese and a light sauce. The beef melted in my mouth as it fell apart on the fork. The whole plate was just beautiful. I wish I had photographed it to share but we were very hungry.
Ashley had the Super Nachos. Her large plate was piled high with chips, lettuce, tomatoes, plenty of the ground beef covered in cheese on one side. The other side featured gently moist grilled chicken mixed with the signature salsa. Another beautifully plated meal that needed nothing else.
We almost finished our dinners but had a little left for morning.
We will be back soon.
Service was so smooth and easy. Our waiter even complimented my attempts at Spanish.

DO NOT GO!!! AWFUL!!!
The place was poor at best. The service was barely there if at all. NO ONE asked if we needed more water or another drink. The ticket was given without even asking is we wanted anything else. I would NOT every recommend this place. Less than friendly and such poor service I don't even know how they stay open. I had to walk up to the bar to ask for a refill and the guy seemed very put out for having to do his job. By far the worst place I have been to in years. My husband having worked in the industry as a chef for years I ALWAYS tip well but not at this place! Not worth the money I spent.

We had our Harley Men’s Ride group of 12 from Indiana here on Friday night and it was outstanding!!!! The food, the service and the atmosphere was off the charts!!!! Our little waitress was amazing and so patient with all of us; she did an excellent job! Highly recommend this restaurant!!!!!!

Laid back, v casual, down-to-earth Alabami Mexi eatery with tame, nice pricing.
Spacious interior with plenty of room for a few with lite banter; as well as larger more isolated tables for 'group interactions'.

Food:
Start with the Shrimp soup; I kid u not, for $9 might've been the bestest soup ever; The fresh cut avocados will get u; w sliced veggies, picey, and SO flavorful. Then on to their tasty Shrimp Chili Relleno.
Be sure to ask for the house hot sauce, to kicks it up a bit.

Note- The 'black beans' lean a bit to refried, in case u wonderin..
Waitstaff polite, helpful, savage, and v hardworking;
It a memorable ethnic joint @ Leeds off the parkway.
Will certainly come back to this esoteric eatery, next time street racin' near I20 / 'Bama.

My favorite Mexican restaurant. I always get the Poncho Special (chicken,rice,queso), and it's wonderful! I sometimes switch it up and get the two burritos. That red sauce they put on top make it special.

This was a great place to celebrate my sister's 37th birthday, where staff brought her a complimentary shot of tequila, a Sombrero, and sang happy birthday. The food was great and the service was fast and efficient. We will be back.

El-Cazador Mexican Grill was a much needed meal break from a long road trip. I had the steak burrito grande; the meat was good and the cheese sauce was an interesting take on Mexican food. The salsa was decent though not spicy and all around the family enjoyed their dinner.

El Cazador, meaning "the Hunter" in Spanish, is my favourite Mexican Restaurant in Birmingham, bar none! The Food & service are excellent. CHILES RELLENOS ARE THE BEST ONES I HAVE HAD IN THE GREATER BHAM AREA since they don't batter and fry them like most Mexican restaurants who seem to cater mainly to the American palate. Speaking of which, the El Cazador salsa is a bit too Spicy for many people who have accompanied me there (and sometimes a wee bit Spicy for me, but I save a little bit to put on my Chile Rellenos, tacos, burritos, etc and it only makes a great thing better!)
I dine here often and can honestly say that the excellence of their food and service is consistent, as it is at the El Cazador Restaurante on Montclair near Irondale. Go & you will most likely be quite pleased with anything you order and the friendly staff!

Fantastic! From the moment we walked in to the moment we got our food was 20 minutes or less! And the food was so good, I forgot to take a stinking picture. I believe it was the Pancho's Special? Basic chicken, steak, cheese sauce and rice - I figured a safe recipe to order at any restaurant, but it actually is better than any restaurant we've been at so far. Oh, did I mention the sweet tea was also perfect? I'm picky when it comes to that, it's usually a weird brewed tasted I can't describe at Mexican restaurants, but they've nailed theirs here.

TLDR; get in and try the food, you won't be disappointed. 😉

Food was OK but waited forever to get drink orders. Refills didn't happen without getting up and requesting more. Had to get up and ask for cheese dip which was also late coming out, right before food. Fix the service and would get more stars.

I've loved coming to this place since around 2006. Service is fabulously friendly, and always has been. The atmosphere inside is comfortable, and the food is so good I can never get a picture of it before I've eaten all of it. Salsa and chips are also amazing. Tip your servers well, they deserve it! Hopefully next trip in I'll control myself well enough to get some photos of food. Will definitely be back for more!

Best mexican food by far. Sweet tea is awesome. My husband and son drank countless glasses. Food was seasoned perfectly. Lunch menu is cheaper than the dinner menu but both are reasonable and well worth the money spent for such an awesome meal.
