Great authentic food! Friendly service. We need more places like this. Me and my family and extended family went to eat on whim. Did not disappoint. We were treated like their family and the food was amazing. We will stop in every time that we go to Leeds !!

Great food!!! Extremely nice server too. They were extremely understaffed but our server took good care of us. No alcohol served but the food was so good it makes up for the lack of drinks. I had the taco tour which was a mixture of 13 different tacos. I will be going back to this place very soon.

A little bit out of the way but what a great find! The food is delicious, the service is prompt, friendly and attentive. The menu is refreshingly simple and everything is very tasty. The atmosphere is very authentic and reminds me of several taquerias we visited in Mexico. If you’re in Leeds and have a taste for tacos, La Juanita is a great choice. We’ll definitely come here again,

A local restaurant serving phenomenal food at a great price. So happy we found this place! Feels really cozy and cheery. Honestly one of the best Mexican meals I’ve ever had. Food came quickly. The staff was so sweet and helpful. We got tacos and sopes (first time ever trying the latter. The base patty/shell was basically soft like the outside of a tamale, but thicker). As you can see the sopes are somewhat dense so 2 would be perfect for a decent-sized meal.

They had toppings like pickled onions and slaw which you could fill up on the side. We tried chorizo, chicken, and Al pastor. All of it was excellent! The beans tasted fresh & hand mashed, and the rice had a great flavor too. I’m glad we stumbled upon this restaurant and would love to come back. Definitely give it a try if you get the chance :)

My family is from Mexico and I can genuinely say that this place has AUTHENTIC Mexican food. My husband says the food tastes just like his mom’s does, especially the pozole. They have a simple, fresh menu with a side bar of salsas and toppings. The restaurant is super clean and the staff is incredibly friendly. Definitely worth a stop if you’re anywhere near Leeds!

Popular place, especially with the construction guys and that’s why I stopped because those are usually a good indication of good food. I wasn’t disappointed. I had the Juanita burrito and it was delicious. But they only had Pepsi products so I had to suffer with a sweet tea.

If you like food, this is the place! Absolutely delicious! This is not your ordinary Mexican restaurant. Very unique flavors! I ordered the Quesabirria along with a fruit drink with lime and cucumber. If I lived here, I would be eating that Quesabirria multiple times a week! The fruit drink was tasty and refreshing too.

The employees are over-the-top nice and attentive. They brought us samples of the homemade fruit drinks to try. The guacamole and chips tasted like they were made especially for us(so fresh and tasty!)

What an amazing gem this place is, probably some of the best Mexican food I've ever eaten! The ladies working there were exceptional, they were kind, very service oriented, and they let us taste all of the different home made drinks they have. I had the Quesabirria, and it was over the top amazing! If you are ever in the area, be sure to try it.

I ordered the enchiladas they came out in a way I've never had them prepared didn't think I was going to like them 4 bites into them and I must say the best I've ever had the salsa was delicious just wish my stomach was bigger couldn't eat but 3 of the 6 I've your hungry that is the dish to order will definitely be back I would like to try other entries it's not a fancy building it's just an older building but don't let the size of it discourage you because you will not be disappointed with the food as you can tell I was very impressed

Where to even begin! My husband and I stopped in after our day on the Barber track. It's an adorable little place with an upbeat and friendly atmosphere! The food was amazing and there were so many options to choose from! We heard about it through friends that stopped in once and we definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the area! I went to the Indycar Grand Prix from Texas, and as a mexican its a pleasure to have a really nice place to have autentic mexican food. Service is great and salsas are tasty and spicy. Just perfect

This is the best Mexican restaurant I have been to. The food is fresh and high quality. The service is pretty good as well! No complaints! I will definitely be back. Horchata is so good!

Not your standard Mexican restaurant. Much more modestly run. The service was quick and super friendly, and the food was unique and authentic. I would highly recommend it for someone wanting something that feels more like you're actually in Mexico!

The food here is always very good. Their pineapple water was fantastic. I believe they didn't offer chips and salsa in the past, which made it hard to get the kids to go. However, they now have chips, salsa, cheese, and guacamole. Game changer for us, we'll be visiting more.

Wow. Our family of 6 recently stopped in to dine here after seeing good reviews. We were all wanting Mexican, but something different than the usual we have around. We wanted authentic, quality, real deal Mexican - and this place did not disappoint! We had several different tacos & tamales and it was all incredible. You can taste the difference. We met Maria, the owner who was so helpful and accommodating. You can tell she cares about the restaurant and the quality of food she is serving. If you want authentic Mexican and to support an awesome family, check this place out!

The best steak street tacos! And their toppings bar is on another level. Their orange sauce is definitely my favorite and their pickled red onions are a must.

This truly authentic Mexican restaurant is an absolute gem! We had some of the best tamales we've ever eaten, and the al pastor pork was amazing! You can tell all the ingredients are super fresh, even down to the homemade flavored waters. The restaurant itself is so quaint, and the staff was so friendly and welcoming.

This place has very friendly staff, and the food was above average. Unfortunately, that’s all the positives. The place is dingy and cluttered. Very authentic to a place you’d run into in Tijuana MX. If you are looking for true authentic location, this is the closest thing I’ve found in Alabama. The only problem is in Tijuana, this would cost you $5/person. Our bill was ~$90 for two adults and three kids. I fed the whole family at Jim n Nicks last weekend for $45. I had the Torta Cubana. The beef was a flat ironed piece of tire rubber. Don’t recommend. My wife and kids enjoyed their meals. Overall, I felt it was grossly overpriced.

Treat yourself! Go to Taqueria La Juanita. I can't vouch for everything on the menu. But, I can tell you the guacamole is made with fresh ingredients and the favor pops. They serve a very generous portion of their delicious pozole rojo with all the garnishes: sliced lettuce, radish , and avocado. And, the Torta Cubana's combination of flavors are as special and satisfying as any you might find in Miami's Little Havana. *** The cactus taco is a treat!

Everything was wonderful. Amazing, home cooked vibes, super clean, fully decked out salsa and side bar... they've got it all here. I got both the red and green pozole, lengua, and chorizo burrito. All of it was perfection. My favorite was the green pozole with the most tender, delicious chicken. I don't think I've ever been to a restaurant and loved all of their salsas, but I did!

The cherry on top was the excellent, patient, kind, helpful customer service. This is my favorite restaurant in Birmingham, easily. Whenever I'm craving Mexican food, I'm coming here. I've finally found the spot that tastes like home 🙏🏾

Excellent and authentic Mexican food. Menu has a decent amount of English on it but understanding basic food Spanish would help.

The guacamole was one of the highlights as well as are the daily specials. There is a toppings and sauce bar that I would reccomend as well.

I was so hungry that I forgot to get some pictures of the food. I guess I'll just have to go back.

Central Alabama and Authentic Mexican are two words that I never thought I'd heard go together until I came across this gem tucked 5/10 min from the Buc-ees off the exit. The tamales are top notch, the tacos are great, and the Fresca y Crema is the best way to finish it! Don't miss this spot because it will be your one regret in life 😉

I lived in Los Angeles for 15 years, so when it comes to Authentic Mexican Food, my standards are high. The food and service at La Juanita is the best I have had in the Greater Birmingham Area. The food is just as good here as you will find most places in LA!

Excellent food! Best carne asada tacos I’ve ever had. Make sure you go to the toppings bar to get all the amazing taco toppings they offer. We enjoyed everything we tried. The water tastes funny so I would recommend getting something else to drink but overall great experience. Will definitely be back!

This is not taco bell or a chain Tex mex. This is authentic. Great atmosphere, and excellent tasting food. Not much to choose from in Leeds, but this one is a definite winner. Don’t forget to get the Mexican Coke in a bottle!!

I’m upset I’ve just now discovered La Jaunita’s. Authentic Mexican food is hard to find and it’s been right down the street the whole time. Had the Al Pastor tacos and this amazing rice water drink. Gonna be my new spot from now on.
