Real authentic Mexican food are great and taste great!!! in fact we enjoyed them, while being seranade with some Mexican songs! The place or the ambience is amazingly spacious when you’re inside the restaurant. And Lastly, they have karaoke if you’re into in singing.

Grilled chicken salad, chicken nachos, cheese dip and very fresh salsa was all delicious. Service was great and the restaurant was very clean. We will be back.

This location seems to have replaced the Gaudalajara restaurant. There’s a fairly large and new sign on top of the restaurant. It’s located at a strip mall near Walmart. I was greeted fairly quickly when I entered and guided to a seat with a menu and silverware. A few minutes later, the server (was bilingual) came out and asked for what I wanted. I received my salsa and chips at this time. The salsa was pretty watery and lacked spice or much flavor. It was nothing special, and chips seemed like they were made a long time ago.

Looking at the menu, it seemed like a typical Mexican restaurant though I was a little disappointed that the street tacos didn’t have many options. I was a little inclined to think after looking at the menu that it was more Tex Mex. They did seem to have a nice deal for aguas frescas with two glasses for under $3. That’s pretty unheard of here in HSV. I ended up ordering 3 pastor tacos.

I received food fairly quickly. The street tacos have a large amount of cilantro and raw onions, but not as much meat as I had hoped for. The red sauce served on the side wasn't very spicy and had more of a smokiness. Not sure I had the experience I wanted. I had to wait a bit after finishing my food to get my check or even see the waiter. If I come back, I’ll try the aguas frescas.

What a great place. I remember coming to this location last year but it was named Guadalajara. El Mezcal did not disappoint! The food was great and the atmosphere was neat. I really loved the medium Margarita which was massive! I definitely recommend this place and I will be returning again!

Great food, but they sat us and two other couples next to a table of obnoxious drunk loud baby boomers. I couldnt even hold a conversation with my wife at our table. I couldnt hear her because they were so loud. It was a terrible experience.

We moved to the Madison area about 6 weeks ago, this was one of the first restaurants we dined at...we love it so much we come once a week! Food is top notch and inexpensive! We both eat for under $35 and have leftovers!

The service was fantastic Food was outstanding. Fresh & Hot. I had the Carnitas with Rice & Beans. All were delicious. I took the Tres Leches cake home for later and it did not disappoint either. I'm not from the area, just a Trucker passing through. I will be back, first chance I get. THANK YOU.

Ordered chicken enchiladas and only one had chicken that I could tell. One had some type of beef( tasted like bad dog food) Friend order a beef tostada that also tasted like bad dog food or goat. The worst Mexican food I ever had. Don’t eat at El Mezcal Mexican in Madison, Alabama.🤢

Seeing it's rating of 4.5 and trying it from out of town, I'd rate it a 4.6. so I gave it a 5 🤗. Great Mild Salsa. Charged me for a small salsa to go with my leftovers.

Salsa was delicious! Obviously made fresh daily. Could see the diced onions and taste the cilantro. Just wonderful! Food was good as expected, service was fine. I'm going back for the salsa!

This place is newer, but has great food. They have all the usual Mexican food favorites, and they're very well done. The portions are substantial, and the service was quick and friendly. Their chips and salsa are above average (chips are among the best in town). Would go again.

We used to frequent Guadalajara under previous owners and thought it was the best in Madison/Huntsville. We were concerned when new owners El Mezcal took over. We were so very pleasantly surprised. Same amazing salsa and although different, improvements all around. We love this place - best Mexican in Madison hands down.

I got shrimp faijats and requested spicy. It wasn't on the menu but they made it. One person also got the fajita spicy but with all different meat. Someone got cosdodos (looked like a sandwich). There's didn't have much flavor to it. The rest of us enjoyed our food. The margarita was good but they don't do happy hour. Sorry I don't know how to spell Mexican food but I figure the description of a sandwich you can figure it out.

Food, service, and atmosphere all hit the right spots. Employees are really friendly and helpful. They have an excellent menu and really authentic, good Mexican food! Highly recommend their Horchata as well.

Great value, quick service, family restaurant. The Fajitas Mezcal has a lot of variety of meat, flavorful chorizo, shrimp, chicken, beef strips mixed with green and yellow peppers and onions. It was a lot of food and each meat had it's own flavor as if they were seasoned separately and then mixed. Was confused and disappointed by the thin boney fatty steak strip they put on top which I couldn't chew, but there was so much food I just treated it like a decoration and moved it aside to enjoy the rest. Servers were very attentive and quick.

We are traveling from Indiana and were delighted to find this restaurant for dinner.
The waiters are all so nice and friendly!
The complimentary chips were warm and crispy and the house made salsa was fresh and had a nice little kick of spice!
We ordered the Pollo Feliz with grilled vegetables and the 3 Amigos. Both were so very delicious and we could only eat half of the generous portions we were served. (Fun leftovers for lunch tomorrow!)
Be sure to try the Xango which is a deep fried cheesecake chimichanga with 2 scoops of strawberry ice cream topped with fluffy whipped cream! We were WAY too full, but ate every bite anyway!!

We lived in Tucson for 11 years and now Madison for 10 years. This is the best Mexican food we have found in Madison / Huntsville area. I got the carne asada and my wife the camornes el mojo de ajo.

I was very excited to try a new restaurant. Got the fajatias ,they were more like steamed. They had no sizzle. :-(

I'm writing this from inside the restaurant where I have been waiting 30 minutes to receive my check. (Update now that I am out. Aparently asking for your check does nothing. You have to go to the front to pay. Wish someone would have told me that.) On normal circumstances I would understand If it is busy. But it is me and two other tables. That's just poor. The food was not warm but was not cold either. It was like it sat for 5-8 minutes before coming out. All and all not the best experience. Will not be returning.

The food was delicious and the portions were very generous. They had the best shrimp and carne asada soft tacos I've had since I moved to Bama. The rice and refried beans were better than the ones served by the previous owner. The margaritas were decent (and huge!). Ask for top shelf tequila if you are picky. My little one was sad because we recently lost our doggie so they made a special fruity drink for him. We thought that was very kind and sweet and my little one had a huge smile (priceless!). The prices have gone up a bit but that's OK with me since I'm getting great food and service. The prices from the previous restaurant (Guadalajara) were so low that I often wondered if the quality of ingredients was low as well. Although the new owners are still working on getting the restaurant completely remodeled, we received great service. If you disliked the previous run-down booths, you'll be happy to see the new ones. They look great. Overall, we had a great experience and delicious food.
