Lucia’s Cocina Mexicana

I don’t EVER feel a need to leave a bad review but this was genuinely the worst food I’ve ever bought from a restaurant. Sometimes I’m disappointed in places but still eat the food but I had to just throw everything from this place away and am really annoyed that I wasted that much money. My beef taco salad was nauseating. The ground beef was pureed, tasted like the smell of dog food, and was sitting in water. Our Mexican rice was white. The salsa didn’t have a salsa flavor and the flavor it did have didn’t resemble food. The flan was chunky with hard pieces and didn’t have flavor. I don’t recommend trying this place unless you want to be really disappointed.

The police and firefighters get 20% off their bill which is great and why I did not give it one star, but they only give military 10% off. When I asked why the military only get 10% and not 20% like the police and firefighters they just brushed the question off as if it was irrelevant.

Food has much improved since the last time we were here. Good quantities and excellent quality. Salsa was very good, enchiladas were top notch, and the burrito was perfect. A tad pricey, but not overly so. And plenty of leftovers for tomorrow.

Good food and great staff. Table side guacamole is awesome. The street tacos came with a lime for each one and the taste was wonderful. Nacho were very cheesey and had the right mix of cheese and meat.

Really good food, good service and atmosphere. Great chips and salsa/queso/guac. Very very generous portions, don't fill up on the chips before you get the food.

Btw the service is surprisingly speedy.

The alcohol options are great, creative and/or novelty. Good place for a friend or coworker Meetup.

Been a while since I had been here after a really bad experience with a server. My fiancee got food poisoning and was up all night after eating the enchiladas.

This food truck changed my life. I haven’t had carne Asada in YEARS. And nothing this close to authentic. They were SO NICE! I wanted just meat and cheese on my quesadilla and they were more than happy to accommodate me. The amount of meat on my quesadilla was insane! So obviously Lucia's is not going to be in business much longer. I went there tonight, and was charged $25/ea for a standard medium margarita. This is so far beyond ridiculous, it goes without saying that I will never return. I hope you all follow my advice, and pass on this place.

Food was a disappointment. I have eaten at Lucia's in Athens and the food was very good. First complaint was the food was not hot, but Luke warm at best. My companions food lacked any flavor. We had to ask for fresh chips as the chips originally served were cold and stale. Service was okay, but I will stick with the Athens location.

Don’t go here if you’re like me and order special. All I wanted was a chicken taco with only meat and cheese. After two attempts still not right. Husband asked for burrito with no peppers and onions and jalapeños on side. He got a burrito with peppers, onions, and jalapeños in it. He suffered through it because nobody came to the table for 10+ minutes after food was delivered. Staff didn’t seem too concerned, he walked away before I finished telling him what was wrong and came back with another taco loaded with peppers and onions. If you want a second beer.. too bad. You won’t get it. Left and charged full price. Couldn’t light me on fire to step foot back in this place. Save your time and money and go somewhere else. We left hungry and had to find something else to eat.

The Madison location is far inferior to the Athens location, in all aspects. We experienced Athens’ downtown location first and were extremely impressed. It was like a different restaurant altogether in Madison.

The Jalisco fajitas were not good, (chicken/steak was dry and could have used more veggies). Felt I way overpayed for what I got. Service wasn't great either, I shouldn't have to pass a full soda across the table, and the waiter initially forgot my add-on and also didn't get me a box the first time around.

Chimichangas are great great. My coworkers and I go every Saturday between our double shifts. Cheese dip is good and they offer a steak plate of steak, rice and white queso.

My daughter and I eat here at least once a week. We ordered from the lunch menu and got a bill of $60. When I asked about the cost I was told a small margarita is now $13.99 which was more than the plate of food. With that being said that ended this being our first choice going forward.

Food was prepared well but not as menu described. I had the fish tacos and they didn't come with the cilantro slaw. I asked the waitress and she said they didn't come with it even though it's listed on the menu. Service was good overall though and very nice and friendly.. The place needs a refresh though, its looking a bit worn. I would come again if I'm in the area.

Not a fan of this location. The Athens location has much better food. I ordered the steak fajita nachos. My food was lukewarm, and the chips on my meal were very stale, and they cheese tasted old on it. The steak had no flavor. Will be keeping my business at the Athens location where the food is fresh and flavored

Food and service was very good. The fajitas (chicken and steak) were exceptional. Not only did they have multiple choices of Jalepenos (fresh ones were the best) but they also give you a good portion size!

Can't remember how many times I've been here. The street tacos were on point and there was a ton of meat. Definitely a good spot to eat. And they are super fast!!

Food was lukewarm. Cheese dip was watered down. Prices are high compared to other Mexican restaurants! Ordered margarita, delivered in a small solo cup, no salt or sugar rim. Low health score rating noted as I left. I will not return to this restaurant. I love Mexican food, but this place isn’t good for several reasons.

I had a jalapeño margarita and it was $21.99!!! I don’t know what kind of special fancy tequila they are putting in their margs but pretty sure it’s not worth $22 and the menu clearly said $10.99. My steak, shrimp, and chicken and rice was only $16.99. Not sure how a restaurant can justify charging $21.99 for a margarita but yeah, I won’t be back to get one of these.

All and all, everything was very good. I had the Hawaiian chicken dish. It was delicious. My only complaint was the booth. We sat in the 4th booth from the front windows. I'm 6'1" tall and the table in the booth was too high. The cushion in the seats were very uncomfortable. We will visit again, but next time we will ask for a table.

Food was so salty wasn’t able to finish my dinner. When I told my server she just laughed and walked away. Server left us for 15 minutes waiting for our ticket. Finally had to flag someone else down to get it so we could leave. Was not a good experience.

By far the worst Mexican food I've ever attempted to consume. Either all of the positive reviews are fake or the people actually eating this have never tasted food. I have absolutely nothing nice to say, so I'll leave it at that. You're better off at Taco Bell.

This was not good. Got it to go. Called and asked if they made their own tortillas and they said they did (definitely do not). Cheese dip tasted watered down. Portion size on fajitas is large, but you won't want to eat it. Really have nothing good to say here.

We have eaten here several times. Often we arrive and ask for a table for our party of 4 or 6 or 12 (once). They set up the table quickly, notice to separate the checks, serve us quickly and bring hot, just prepared food

I was burying ny Dad from covid up the block from Licia's and we just stopped to eat. OOOOHHH MYYYYY GOOOODDDDDD! THIER Food IS Booooomb! I know yall saying thats a friends review. Nope! We do not know these awesome people. Service 5 stars....Food 10 stars....and ambience is perfectly authentic. Just go and see for yourself.

Ceviche is always the test of a good Mexican restaurant. Lucia's did it right. I wanted seconds. The atmosphere is humble not loud and overdone. Had a quiet dinner a drink and will return.

I just took home a chicken taco salad, tried to eat it immediately. It quickly turned into a togo container full of chicken taco soup, only the very top of the crust bowl was not soggy. Obviously they keep their meat in a vat of fluid and do not drain it. I've had the same experience at Casa Blanca with their beef tacos, same ownership go figure. Not good at all.

Fantastic Mexican restaurant. I love the linens and atmosphere is breath of fresh air. Only drawback is price is a little bit high compared to all the other mexican restaurants around. And the menu is very large and that makes it hard to decide. Some items are $20-$30.

This is our go-to place because the food quality and service is always great. We've never had a single issue and that includes orders made within 30 mins to close.
Don't be afraid of "high priced" menu items! The quantity is the cause. i.e. the burriqueso will feed a grown man for three meals without exaggeration.

Great happy hour specials. Good drinks. I would like the place better if they would stop filling up my burritos/chimichangas with tomatoes and bell peppers which isn’t specified on the menu and after I asked for just meat. Feel like I’m getting shortchanged when I agreed to the upcharge of meat.

I have picked up items on the menu at least 10 times. Each time I have ordered a bean burrito. Each and every time it was made different. Every single time the price was also different. Today my bean burrito (1) was $8.00, and it was horrible; No red sauce on it. My family and I have picked up several items off the menu
and there is no consistency. The same exact item varies every single time.

After moving to madison *off greenbriar rd from Huntsville I've officially tried all the mexican restaurants and I guess it goes as they say "save the best for last" def our new favorite spot. The steak fajitas "our goto meal" was incredibly good everything was fresh and too hot to eat at first. Even our picky 3 year old ate almost a whole plate of rice.

We had our dinner delivered through GrubSouth. Our burritos were pretty good, but due to the long wait on a driver, my son's taco shells were mushy and fell apart in pieces. The chicken quesadilla was a folded tortilla with lots of chicken, minimal cheese and didn't resemble a quesadilla too much.Would like to try again in the restaurant.

Went here with a few friends Halloween night. I had the fish tacos and while they were good, they were a little oversalted. I thought it may have just been my dish, but my boyfriends came with a side of vegetables and I took a bite of them and they were oversalted too. I could tell it was a more course ground salt. All still edible though 😋

I rated this 5 stars because service was good, food tasty, and there were no mistakes. Our family of 4 had dinner at Lucia's. Seating is ample, while being widely dispersed for Covid reasons, so you can eat there and stay appropriately distanced. A mask is required when not at your table. The Restaurant and restrooms were very clean and orderly. We learned that our server was new, but one would not know that without being told. The service was exceptional in every way. The manager, Ray, visited our table and seemed truly sincerely interested in assuring a pleasurable dining experience for all of us. He and the staff delivered. Three of us had house-Margaritas, and they were outstanding. I normally ask for top-shelf, but that was not necessary here. We all found the food scrumptious. It was served appropriately (temperature) hot, and the portions were more than ample. Each of us had a meal there; then the remainder made for another subsequent meal at home - doubly delicious!
We are from out of state, but will definitely return before we head home and this will be a for sure stop when we return.

We like the fajita taco salad. Big serving with lettuce, sour cream, guacamole and pico on the side. Queso serving too. Warm tortilla chips and a good salsa. Margaritas of all sizes and beer available. Nice attentive staff.
