San Marcos Méxican Restaurante

We ordered fajitas and cheese dip Togo. We pulled up not even 2 minutes after the alert and It was all cold. How do we know? We parked to eat it right then. We were also missing the sour cream and the shells for the fajitas.the steak tasted like the grease run off from a flattop and the guacamole was as runny as half melted ice cream. Chips weren’t salted at all. Not even a little. This place has gone down hill. Gave it a try again after 8 months when the table next to us had a roach floating in their child’s drink. Needless to say we won’t be back.

Great place to go for authentic Mexican food. Their dishes are like no other Mexican restaurant around. Service is good, and the drinks are always on point. Always worth a stop whenever in the area. Definitely an area favorite. I have not found a dish that I don't like!

Had a very delicious meal in a cozy environment with very good service. Our Ladies luncheon from our church loves this little place. If you want some good Mexican food, come try this restaurant. We had a good time lots of laughs. The entrees are amazing and we all had leftovers to take home.

Business was slow. The waitress did a drive by once and asked if we needed anything then immediately said thank you and kept going without giving us an opportunity to respond. My order was incorrect, but I decided to just go with it. It was very bland. Could not get the waitress attention, so I asked the lady that was taking the to- go orders to the front. After about 5 minutes, she returned with tomato sauce. I continued to try and get our waitress attention after another 5 minutes she came over. After asking for salsa at least 10 times, I figured I was speaking a foreign language. She went to the back and returned with Verde sauce. I tried again to explain what salsa was, she turned and went to get who I assume was the assistant manager. I tried to explain to him that I just wanted salsa. He said “ I see, I will get it for you “ he then returned with the sauce for burritos. How can you work in a restaurant and your biggest thing is chips and salsa and not know what a customer means when they ask for salsa???? Very disappointed.

San Marcos is my favorite local Mexican restaurant. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Their food tastes great and you get large portions for the price. I always get the fajita nachos with either steak or shrimp and I’m never disappointed. Their chicken soup is also amazing. If you enjoy margaritas, try the Don Julio Margarita!

Our food was good just like any other Mexican joint. Nothing stood out. Decor was dirty and could use an update. The worst was our server. He seemed annoyed and Angry with us anytime we try to ask for something. I still tip well. And I still plan to go back to give them a second chance like I do with every restaurant. 5 ⭐️ all the way around! First off, you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. Martin told me about the street tacos before they went on the menu, so I tried one. The Tinga & elote are my go to order. And I love that when I walk in the door, before we’re even seated, Martin knows that I want a peach margarita and he personally makes it and brings it to me, unless they’re slammed and he just can’t, which is fine! He’ll make it as soon as he can. My daughters are such huge fans of the horchata that they constantly ask Martin for some by the gallon to bring home, which doesn’t last long.

The cheese dip with jalapeños is awesome. They bring chips out immediately & cheese dip comes out quickly afterwards.

I did see the negative reviews about the staff, but seriously, if you bring it to Martins attention while you’re there, he will most certainly handle it! If you leave without telling him and post a negative review, what is he supposed to do? Let him deal with it while you’re there.

Anyway, I could rave about San Marcos in paragraphs, but I’ll sum it up with you just have to try them for yourself. Try a street taco & the elote. Try the horchata!

10/10 the absolute best restaurant in Millbrook. We eat there (either inside or to go) at least weekly & for all of our family birthdays. And, when you do order to go, they throw in a huge bag of chips and an insane amount of salsa at no charge. Just try them, really.

I’m never spending another dime in this place again.Simply because my husband and I ordered drinks frozen and items off the menu we were told only on the rocks certain items they didn’t have but as soon as the people sitting next to us were sitted they got royal treatment and they frozen drinks plus the items that weren’t available on the menu for us and of we are African American !

3-11-24 I decided to give this place one more try on a takeout order. Called 4 times with nobody answering. This place is a sh-t show if there ever was one. My God if they are this pathetic in front what must be going on in the kitchen.
Previous review -
Staff acts like you are ruining their day. Girl hostess was a smug, useless slug with a hateful look on her face nursing her backside on her seat and we only saw a waiter 2 times. Took our order and brought our order. No refills, no napkins and extremely poor service. Food was average to below average. Ate here once before, about a year earlier and no change for the better since then. No worries because there are 2 pretty good Mexican restaurants within 3-5 minutes of this atrocity.

Been here a few times. Meals have always been good. Ordered large takeout meals at the bar this time. Staff is same as always. Friendly and attentive, always, despite being busy. Queso was great. Steak in the fajitas didn't taste right, but carne asada burrito, steak tasted really good, just kind of dry.. Mixed reviews on the rest of the meal. Tacos were good. Nice flavor. Other burritos were so so. Just didn't taste right.

They expected a last minute reservation for our daughter's 15th birthday party. They were very accommodating and made sure everyone was happy. The food was great and they took excellent care of us. I can't thank them enough for today . My daughter was very surprised when they sang happy birthday to her.

If you are looking for great food, a wonderful atmosphere, an owner an staff, that takes very good care of you then This is the place you want to be!!!!!! This is my weekly, Sometimes two to three times weekly go to. I have had a weight loss surgery when I was younger and they are so open to helping me order the way I need to. I have been eating here since they opened and have yet to find a place that compares.

So very disappointed. Service was extremely slow, a very distracted waiter that kept forgetting to bring our drinks, couldn't remember what we ordered and we had to repeat our food and drink order twice, which further delayed. Food was disappointing as well. Cheese dip tasted like it came out of a jar, very bland and the tortillas were slightly charred and contents uneven. The atmosphere and prices are what you would expect, so issues there. We will not be going back to this location.

We are regulars at San Marcos in Millbrook and our service, food and drinks are always wonderful. We are greeted with a warm smile and our servers always know we want a medium margarita on the rocks before we even order. The chips are always fresh and their salsa has the little kick that we love. I also highly recommend the jalapeño cheese dip! We have been to other Mexican restaurants but this is our favorite.

Try not to curse in delight as you eat their food. Really. It's that good. I can't speak for the atmosphere, we order delivery, but I'm willing to bet a free chips & salsa it's good too. If it's terrible just get food to go or delivery. It's worth it.

Waited to be seated while employees were chatting and didn't see us, or other people come in wanting to eat. Guacamole was nasty. Watery and tasteless. Must have been low on avacados. Little newer guy that was supposedly our "waiter" pretty much ignored my wife and I. I told him about waiting for a tea refill and waiting for more chips and salsa. Also told him the service was terrible. He got a smart mouth with me so I returned the favor. He then went to the back wall and started talking about me. Guess what, I am fluent in Spanish and French!!! He commented that we are the kind of people they wished wouldn't come back. So today we went to El Jalisco Mexican restaurant in Montgomery and everything was FANTASTIC! No need to eat where service sucks, (except for Johnny and Jeanette)and food is mediocre. Been going there for years but per the little tattoo boy's wishes all our family will not return to San Marcos!!

The staff ignored my wife and I for over thirty minutes after taking our drink order. It's a shame, really. We were hungry, but none of the staff would actually wait on us. We paid 20.21$ for two drinks and left due to terrible service. A "joy". Do not recommend, and will absolutely NOT return.

Delicious food, friendly service, and tolerant of my rambunctious kids! My little boy has one volume: loud. We tried as best we could to keep his voice down, but they didn't seem to mind too much. It always feels good when you're out with your family, and the public around you is understanding and not giving you dirty looks because your kids happen to be loud.
