The atmosphere had a very specific, handmade feel and is very comfy. The food is exquisite and the service is very nice. The taco salads are awesome here! I can!t rate the alcoholic drinks because I don’t drink but I’m sure they are amazing as well. Eat here ASAP!

We come regularly to this neighborhood favorite. We have been coming for years. We have seen them over the years struggle with community and Covid issues like many other restaurants, PLUS hurricane damage at one point as well! They had to take measures to stay afloat, and we are SO GLAD they survived it all!! These are wonderful people that offer attentive service with an honest, friendly attitude who serve up genuinely good food on a consistent basis. It also says something when you look around and consistently see other Latinos there eating at this restaurant. It’s not Americanized Mexican, it’s authentic Latino food. If you come regularly enough, they remember and treat you like family. I have had practically everything on their menu, and honestly have enjoyed it all. Even their beverages are good and have gotten even better through time! We look forward to enjoying our continued visits to El Jalapeño and highly recommend it to you!

Excellent place to eat. They have a real kick to the food, not just another run of the mill restaurant. The owner is super involved he comes around to check on you personally. He is always smiling and asking what he can do to help. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in town.

This is one of our favorite spots. We celebrated our 12 year anniversary here. Doesn't seem like much to others, but it's one of the first places we went that has great food, quick service, and no wait. They also have great margaritas!!!!

This is not the 1st time here. But I have to say. Recently, I went to New Mexico. Stopped at a Mexican restaurant, and let me tell you I'd rather eat here in Mobile at El Jalapeño any day. That restaurant in New Mexico was more American than Mexican.

This is the best place to eat by far in Mobile, AL. Great food, great service, wonderful atmosphere. Wait staff if there to refill or see to all your needs

Our server brought us chips before we ordered just to tack it on separately from our $15 watery queso. For 6 people, before even ordered entres, our bill was already $60. When we tried to tell our server we weren't happy with the queso and sour tasting sweet tea, he walked away from our table and we had to speak to the bartender before leaving.

This was a terrible experience from this restaurant. I ordered a steak fajita burrito and a burrito supreme and both dishes made me and my wife feel sick. I also ordered three sopapillas and they didn't even bother adding the toppings. The whole dinner felt like it was over charged as well. I do not recommend this place to anyone sadly it was the only place that wasn't packed on Cinco de Mayo. So please save your money and avoid this restaurant.

I use to eat here all the time. The portions have gotten so small and the prices seem to go up every time i go there! You have to BEG for Extra Napkins, salsa and refills on drinks!! I told the owner that my shrimp fajita taco salad only had 5 small shrimp in It and he said he would look in to it!!
I'm going back to Agave Restaurant where they care about their customers!!!!

If you like lukewarm, tasteless food this place is for you. I ordered the beef taco, chili relleno, rice and beans plus cheese dip. I got one napkin, there's no dispenser on the table. I ended up using Kleenex from my purse. The server gave me a 2nd napkin as I was finishing up my plate. The rice and beans were meh at best. They were lukewarm and counting on a hot plate to warm them up. Nice try. I had to ask FOUR TIMES for Splenda for my tea. The server acted amazed that I needed that many for my tea. I didn't want to get interrogated, just get me what I asked for. Apparently all they have is Splenda and they only had a handful left.

Likewise with the lemon for my tea. I asked for a bowl of lemon for of my glass. Asking 3 more times gave me the right amount of lemon. The server took my glass away to refill the tea and forgot it. I had to ask to get it back.

Either the server was high af or dementia. He made several trips back and forth for the basics I needed and asked for when 1-2 would've sufficed.

Between the mediocre food and the abysmal customer service I won't be back. I may end up eating a microwaved hot dog at home but at least it'll be hot and I won't have to ask repeatedly for it.

I am local person, who has came sense I was
one. I am 14 now and still come there ,the service is the best. I would recommend come with your family, like my family does.

My wife and I have a detail shop right behind here, and we had dinner last night. I would highly recommend getting the carnitas street tacos. They were flavorful, juicy, had plenty of meat on them. I opted for sliced avocado and sour cream with mine, my wife just lime. The kiddos had cheese quesadillas with fries. Service was impeccable, atmosphere was very nice. 20/10 definitely recommend!

Horrible customer service & management. It took a while for us to be waited on. Although, there was only 1 other table with customers. The waiter/manager (Juan) brought very little chips in a basket (not even half full.) When we asked for more he said no because they're "trying to save money & customers try to take extra chips home." Therefore, if he brought more chips... it'd "come out of his check." We will not ever return.

Delivery service was amazing but they sent me the wrong food. It sucks waiting for a food delivery, only to get the wrong food. I Was suppost to have steak tacos with cilantro and onion and i paid for extra toppings. My tacos came with lettuce and cheese. I wanted something similar to street tacos. Wont eat here again.

I was super Excited to Eat here.. Because my First time here.. The food was so Delicious. This time had me in the bathroom throwing up. Because my food (Chicken Enchilada) was Super Salty. I order a C4 I believe and couldn't even eat 2 bites.
I was offered a chance to substitute my meal. And was brought out a simple of their beef option. But, that taste burnt and old as well.. So I sat there and drank my Sweet Tea that was Good. While my Dad ate his Chicken Nachos. He's chicken was dry n Salty.. And he was charged extra for the smallest spoon not even a scoop of Guacamole. We were never offered more salad nor chips. And my food was taken off the bill.
I was disappointed with this visit for sure. But, I'll give them another try eventually.
Maybe it was an off night for everyone..

One of our favorite places to score some tacos and a margarita. Their tostadas are excellent. They use the good cheese, and plenty of it! Only "bad" experience we've had wasn't anyone's fault. They were short staffed like everyone else these days, and our server was just overwhelmed and forgot some things. No biggie. The food is good. Prices are good. Usually the service is good. We'll be back again and again.

Wanted to try a new place and walked in and all the employees were standing around talking. Once seated we had to qave down the waitress to get our drink order and then again to get our food. They bought our drinks and they were wrong. We asked for them to be fixed and they gave us attitude. Once the food came it looked home made. We left half of our food. When the checks came they tried to charge us for both drinks and we had to get them to take it off. They once again gave us attitude. We will never go here again. I would not recommend!

I trusted reviews and was NOT disappointed! New favorite place. The chips alone were amazing! with the INCREDIBLE salsa even better! My 5yr old ate it! My wife come here often to get our fill of good Fajitas. We have made this our regular goto place to go when we are ready for Mexican cuisine. They always start with nacho chips and salsa. We order the fajita mix. When the food arrives it is sizzling still in the serving griddle. The tortillas are in foil and very hot and good. We order a single order for the two of us as well as an extra helping of tortillas. There is also another plate of vegetables that has refried beans, lettuce, Pico de Gallo and rice. The fajita mix has ample meat in it which includes beef and chicken strips, as well as shrimp. There is also bell peppers and onions that are cooked with he meat and it tastes great. When the food arrives the single order is plenty for both of us to get several tortillas full of meat and fixings.
The service while we are here is fine. The food is served quickly and the servers are very kind. They check back while you are eating and respond to your requests. The tables and and dining areas are clean and well kept.
All in all I would highly recommend this establishment for excellent food and service. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the parking area is not laid out very well and is dimly lit which can be problematic at night.
