Los Rancheros Mexican Restaurant

The food at this Mexican restaurant is always delicious, but the portions do vary. Out of the four times I’ve been to this place. Only one of the waitresses was extremely friendly and helpful. The rest were mediocre and only one was really bad so don’t expect wonderful service here. Expect kind of a mediocre service. If you can get over that, then this is the great place to eat because they’re Mexican. Food is not only delicious, but it is reasonably priced.

We totally enjoyed our time with friends today at Los Rancheros. They were very accommodating to us. We had a large party and they pulled tables together and made us feel at home. We were immediately served chips and salsa. We enjoyed our time there. Our server was kind and our orders were delivered fast. The lunch menu was quite large and the price was good for the amount of food we received. I even took mine home because it was more than I could eat. FYI there was a 18 percent cost added to our checks for the large group.

Came here on a week night. Was seated immediately. One of the guys dropped off chips and salsa shortly after, which was great because I was starving. Waitress was super friendly and attentive. Beer was ice cold and the food was amazing. I’ll definitely be coming back any time I’m in Mobile!

This place is ok. Went for the first time today for lunch. We ordered Fajita and Taco salad, the ground beef in the taco salad was spoiled. When we spoke to The manager Armando he was so rude to us. Told us this food was freshly cooked. There is no way because the hamburger was grey and smelled sour. They removed the taco salad from the table before we could get a picture.

Decent for a Tuesday afternoon. Not very busy, actually got a parking spot at the front door! 2 for 1 fajitas and peach daiquiris! Not the best I've had here but then again, this is not a regular menu item for me! Decided to go with the flow this trip and get the 1 special they had that day! Not sure if I drank my water too fast at the end or if it was the sweetness of the daiquiri mixed with that and/or the food but some retracted after we got outside... TWICE! Maybe this is why I stick to certain menue items everywhere I go! My stomache is kinda picky! But it was good at the time!

This place is ok. Their Sausa is a 10 out of 10.
Update Feb. 2022 - Everything has changed. Sausa was like water. Food was just average.
Update. November 2024 -Not worth eating there.

I have visited multiple Mexican restaurants in Mobile over the past year and none can hold a candle to El Giro!! The food was fabulous, and the service was outstanding!! I ordered #29 on the combo menu which included a burrito, cheese quesadilla, and a taco. I added beef to my quesadilla which turned out to be the main feature of my dish!! It was huge and very flavorful!! I've always loved El Giro's, but rarely go there because they're on the opposite side of town from where I live. From now on, I will always make the trip to El Giro's with no hesitation whatsoever!! I can't say enough above my recent visit!! The food was hot, seasoned perfectly and very tasty!! El Giro's the absolute BEST!!🏆

Excellent food quality, The Mixed fajitas is a top dish. I highly recommended. For those who loves Mexican food the Fajitas is a good choices.

Took my daughter today for her 14th Birthday. Male waiter took my card and decided to add his own personal tip. When confronted he began shaking like a leaf and denying what he had done. Went outside to cool down for a minute and gather myself to remain professional. Called the restaurant from parking lot and the same waiter began cussing and screaming in the background. Employee on phone said they were having to pull him to the back because of his behavior. Asked me not to call police because he would lose his job. Employees walked outside and handed me back the money he took in cash including a little extra. She told me to call back after 5 to speak with the GM. My number was blocked. From the behavior it seems like they are all in on it and running a scam. I’m getting in contact with the proper people and waiting on calls. From their fear of me speaking to the owner I’m sure he’s unaware of their behavior. Hopefully this will be addressed but please watch your card transactions.

We just went here after Davidson High Schools graduation. They were very accommodating with my special needs sister and very sweet. The sever did not mind grabbing us stuff after we had already paid. They even came out and cheered for my younger sister when she was surprised with a car.

I would recommend this place over and over again. Next time I need to go out with a larger party, I will be coming here.

Do NOT eat here. Somehow messed up basic tacos with only cheese. The meat was burned or just bad. The chicken I got was chewy and not hot when it came out. Find ANY other Mexican restaurant to eat at.

I eat Mexican food 2-3 times a week, and this is by far the most consistent Mexican restaurant in Mobile. You sit down, chips & salsa hit the table. Great service, plenty of food on the plate and red sauce is very good, unlike a lot of others.

This restaurant specifically the server Lucas P. stole money from my friends and I by doubling all of our tips when we went to eat there on February 9th. I’ve been on the phone with them for almost a month and they still have not refunded me or my friends our money that they took. I advise that if you eat here make sure to take your receipt with you so the same thing doesn’t happen to you.

“Get some get right!” That is not my original quote, but it sums up my thoughts about this restaurant. I’m a first timer and I was ready to give this restaurant a zero based on service alone, but the food redeemed it. I took a snapshot of the front door because there were a few red flags for me and one being the gratuity post. Fortunately, I ordered pickup via GrubHub (also,apparently they’re anti-Uber eats- see pic).
It’s not all doom and gloom here let’s get to what was in my opinion doing well and what wasn’t.
1. Greeting (or presence of a host) at front= non existent (Just after 2pm)
2. There appeared to be about two people on the floor serving and when the second one showed up, I walked up to her and asked where to pickup…?. She abruptly responded “at the bar”.
3 At the bar no one was there, so I waited a few more minutes, then decided to look in the kitchen, which was nearby. I asked the woman there if I could pick up my GrubHub, she said someone would help me…she gestured. I turned around, and it was the same lady who said “at the bar”. She confirmed my order and handed me my food.
My gripe: it would’ve been simple for her to not only tell me to pick up at the bar and also, let me know if she would be right with me or that I would have to wait a few minutes.
I’m not sure if there was a sign in the front either that lets people know pick ups would be at the bar. Again, I’m new to this restaurant so I didn’t know the ins and outs.
That’s it concerning the service. The food i had (beef quesadilla, beans and rice and a chicken flautas) was good, and it is on par with other Mexican food here in the city that I’ve had the opportunity to sample. For that reason, I probably won’t go back there, because there was nothing special to make me want to come back when there are so many other Mexican restaurants that have good or better food and offer a better experience. #customerexperience

I would rate it a 0 if I could. The manager Armando was extremely rude. Gave us rotten spoiled beef. When I mentioned it to him he said I was wrong that it was just cooked. Mind you the meat had turned grey, smelled like a cow had died and laid in 100 degree weather. He continued to be rude and kept speaking over us. How can meat that was cooked this morning spoil that fast. The smell was horrible. Definitely reporting them, I’ve never had an experience like this.

What a great ending to a stressful workday during the holidays. Food was spectacular we had the alambres but what is making me leave this review is the service! I wished I'd caught his name, was a guy with glasses and tattoos. His service was the best I believe we've ever had! Hopefully he gets paid his worth!!

The worst I have ever had! The only reason I put one start is because there’s not and options for less. My daughter got chicken and rice and I got pastor tacos (I wish I had gotten pics). We both order this regularly at other restaurants. The chicken was barely cooked and the rice was sticky and not a lot of flavor. She had to add salsa just to eat the few bites she tried. My pastor looked like they chopped some pork and threw some pineapples in a pan. It was not tender at all and didn’t appear to have been marinated. The only thing edible was the queso and salsa. The sad thing is we both got sick after leaving the restaurant with what little bit we tried to eat. We couldn’t even force ourselves to eat it. We paid and left.

Best tex-mex I have ever had. Hands down. Everyone at the table ordered different items and we all had the same opinion. Server was awesome, price was fair, and portions were enough. It was clean and not too crowded. We will definitely eat here next time we are in the area.

Food and Service was poor my family and I ate here two nights ago. We waited 15 minutes after being seated before any came to the table. When the waitress finally came she had a bad attitude, no smile or nothing. I food and drink orders arrival at the same time 35 minutes later. Horrible Mexican food. She never came back to check on us until the end asking do we want our check. But constantly checked on the table behind us because she was flirting with the guys at that table. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I typically eat here about at minimum once a week usually you know about two sometimes three times a week however my latest experience was for lack of a better more appropriate word it was terrible I ordered a fajita taco salad I did have some special requests and I ordered some extra items such as extra Pico extra salsa as well as I specifically explained no guac and no sour cream first off it took me a minute a while to get my food I did not check it before I left which is that's on me but I've never had a problem of this caliper before when I got home all the way in Lucedale Mississippi I realized that it was completely incorrect it was not a chicken fajita taco salad it was something else it dadgum had the guacamole and sour cream all over it the extra stuff that I ordered that they charged me for was not included in the bag so I contacted them and they told me that they would fix it when I was back in town all right I just called tonight and so called manager they answered the phone is wanting to pull back cameras and roll back cameras and do all this mess when he pulled up my order on his screen he seen that I had ordered it he seen what I had paid for extra and he still wanting to roll back a camera I will update my post when I go in I'm about to walk in here now and see if they give me my food that I deserve because if I spend $25 on something that's supposed to cost me you know $11.99 or 12 I deserve to get my food that I paid for and I deserve to get it the way that I ordered it

This was a poor example of Mexican food coupled with poor service. The chips and salsa were good though. My waitress took my order and came back with food about 20 minutes later. It doesn’t take that long to make a burrito. She came back to check on me when I was just about done and asked if I wanted my bill. No. I don’t want it while I still have food I’m working on. I said it was ok and she said “oh good. We’ve been having a lot of complaints about the food today.” That not something you say to a customer…ever. When I was done I had to ask the host (maybe manager) for my waitress. I asked her for my bill. The couple at the table next to me asked for drink refills and ten minutes later she came back and said she thought she brought it to me and the couple never got their drinks. She only had 3 or 4 tables. It’s not like the place was busy. Very disappointed in the place and with all the good food options in the area, I’d recommend not going there.

Service was good, but the food lacked a lot of flavor as if they didnt season it. The salsa lacked that lime and salt kick, the beef tacos were flavorless, no cumin, garlic/onion powder, or chili powder aftertaste, just hamburger meat. Being from Houston, its a staple in our daily diet and I never expect it to be just awesome when I travel, but this didn't even have an authentic seasoning mix.

Great little authentic Mexican restaurant. This is where we ended up after TRYING to get into a local steakhouse. The food was wonderful - we were seated immediately. Waitstaff was very attentive and it was overall a great experience.

It was really good and has a wide variety of food. It was definitely one of the nicer Mexican restaurants that I’ve been to.
