San Jose Taqueria & Carniceria

This is by far my favorite authentic taco place in mobile. These hit the spot every time. Chorizo are my favorite, but haven’t been disappointed by any I’ve tried. The location is sketch, but the price is right!

The food was amazing...it smelled like walking into Grandma's house!
The service well...the waitress doesn't know how to properly serve. No, silverware, we had to ask for water. We had to ask for the chips and salsa, which were extremely hot, and she did not warn us. However, I would return and place a take out order because the food is really great! Also, the prices are pretty reasonable.

Looking around at all the other tables it would seem the soup is good too so next time I'm in I'll have to test that theory.

The last time I visited was full of products and everything was fine but I recommend to check your ticket because they may charge more. A lot of products don't have price and you just can only know it with the chaser. A lot of products and fresh fruits.

Had some really good tacos tonight at San Jose. I ordered asada, pollo, campenchana, pastor and carnitas. The chicken was dry, but the others were amazing. The salsa served with the chips was average, but the taco salsa was on point.

Get your passport out, bring a dictionary or open your google lens app because this is like walking into Mexico. I loved it- my enchiladas were delicious, the beans were so good I wanted to cry and whatever my mom ordered is going to feed us for days.

For as long as I lived in Mobile, Carnicería y Taqueria San Jose has eluded me. I’ve seen the name of this restaurant when searching Mexican food but never realized where it was. It’s been hiding in plain sight to me. Anyway I wanted to try some Mexican food but the real kind and not the fake.
I at first thought I wanted some tacos but I ultimately settled on quesadillas. The reason I picked quesadillas over tacos was mainly because quesadillas came with rice and beans. It was that simple.
I ordered my meal online and decided to head over to the restaurant. I got there earlier than what the estimated time in my email said my food would be ready. The place was pretty close to packed. I realized the store was more than a restaurant because it displayed cuts of meat in the glass counter. I saw a family with children with popsicles that the parents had purchased along with the meal. When I moved further in the store I was approached by a employee and I told them I made an online order. She went back in the kitchen and came back with my food after a short wait.
When I got back home, I couldn’t wait to eat. There was a plate for salad and a plate for the quesadilla with the rice and beans. I mixed up the salad with the rice and beans. I don’t eat Mexican food a lot so I’m not sure if that’s how it’s done but that’s how I did it. I enjoyed it.
Next I tried the carne asada quesadilla. This was like no quesadilla I had before. I say this knowing all quesadillas basically consist of the same thing: dough, meat, and cheese. This quesadilla was on another level because each of those ingredients were much better than what I’ve experienced before. The cheese was really the star of the quesadilla. It was so rich. I really loved this quesadilla. It was the best one I’ve ever had in life.
Before I forget I want to mention I bought a Mexican Coca Cola with my meal. I could taste the difference from regular Coke but I can’t exactly describe it. I loved it though.

I really want to come back here and try more items on the menu.

WARNING WARNING... I had lunch with my family and roaches were crawling the wall, that's why I always get very sick when we eat from there, I don't know if it's because the food has bacteria or what it is. Is not the first time we get sick but health department needs to make some inspections to make sure what's going on in the kitchen because my refried beans had a funny taste and smell like decompose food, I threw it away because I was afraid to end up in the hospital. Omg we went back to eat to that place just to give it a chance to to get the doubts we had about getting sick after eating there. Jesus Christ, the tacos had nothing but hard cartilage, hard skin that not even my dog was so dumb to eat it. After done trying to eat what we could, an explosive diarrhea almost immediately for 2 days. We couldn't sleep because we spent all night sitting on the toilet. I don't believe we're the only one experiencing the same problem, health department please make a serious inspection in this place before someone dies.

This is the most authentic delicious Hispanic eatery that I have had to date. Hands down, the best al pastor I’ve ever had. The servers are very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend them for a truly authentic experience.

Someone messed up today. The food is great usually. My son has a cow milk protein allergy, so we are very strict on where we can eat. My husband specifically told them to NOT add any cheese to the fajita meal and why (in Spanish), but they did. It just upsets me people do not take this allergy seriously. I think it was someone new. Be sure to repeat yourself about 3 times with new people anywhere you go. We won't be eating from here anymore for the safety of our young child.

Absolutely the best place to get real Mexican/puerto rican plates that I’ve had since I moved here from houston…you just don’t find food prepared like this at big food chains, you can taste the effort and quality ingredients put in these plates. Bilingual and friendly service! Great selection of salsas picko de guyo and hot sauces!! Treat yourself!!!

It is too expensive for the quality of the food, the customer service is lousy, the waitresses serve grudgingly and despite that they are demanding with the tip; at the cash register They have a sign that basically says that waitresses only earn their tips, they should demand a good salary from their boss.

Was referred here by local friends who said this was authentic Mexican food for the south. I tried the chilaquiles, and a torta. The chilaquiles were definitely good! They were not spicy, but has great flavor. The torta, I was not impressed with the torta I just felt like it had no flavor. The restaurant atmosphere is not somewhere I would want to eat dinner with or meet friends for food lol. Definitely needs to be cleaned and Maybe just a better set up in the building and more welcoming staff. Not sure if I would go back, maybe I would and get some tacos, can’t go wrong with them.

My boyfriend and I stopped here on our way from Florida back to Houston TX and it was SOOO good! We have a lot of great taco trucks in HTX, but this Alabama one surprisingly took one of the top spots amongst our Houston taco favorites (we got the asado, chorizo, & barbaocoa)!
