Taco Mama - West Mobile

Had the Classico Beef Taco Basket with a side of Street Corn and Chips & Salsa. Loved the Street Corn, wasn't to spicy and not to bland. Ordered my basket with one soft and one hard taco. The hard taco had a very fresh shell, and the ingredients were fresh. Could have had a little more meat. The soft shell taco was just as tasty. Also could have used a little more meat. Very clean dining area and the staff very friendly. Lunch cost around $18, plus tip and a soft drink.

This was my first time at this restaurant and I’m glad we went before leaving the area (suggested by my brother-in-law). The food was delicious and plentiful! I ordered veggie nachos and a watermelon margarita; the nacho portion is enough for 2-3 people. What I liked most were the fresh ingredients. The staff was helpful in guiding us through the menu as first timers. This place can’t compare to any Qdoba, Moe’s, Taco Bell, Chipotle or any other “Mexican” restaurant.

I ordered the nachos and they were superb!! My only "complaint" is that they should have warned me that the nachos are MASSIVE!! So you choose your meat (or no meat if that's your gig) and then you can layer any (and as many) toppings that you want.

Amazing food and great employees! We ordered a skinny pomegranate margarita which was delicious, and the sampler. The guacamole is homemade, burrito bowl was huge and the barbacoa beef in it was amazing. We also got a bunch of sauces, all of which were tasty! So much food for a reasonable price, will return.

I recently discovered there was a Taco Mama near me. I have been to the Taco Mama on Old Shell a few times. I don’t go there often because it’s not in an area of the city I frequent much. Seeing there is was a location on Airport was good news.
I can’t remember what I had the last time I ate here. I just chose at random and my pick was the yo mama. For the side I picked street corn. I ordered online and headed to pick up my food.
When I got to the restaurant, there was a person cleaning in the front area where the register was. He quickly asked how he could help. I told him I ordered online. He quickly went to the area where online orders are stored when ready. He could’ve just pointed me to the area and that would’ve been no problem at all. It wasn’t much for him to do but I did appreciate it.

By the way the place seemed packed.

When I got home to enjoy my food I went straight to the street corn. I thought I’d had it before but I don’t remember it being this good. I mean it wasn’t bad before but this time I really enjoyed it. As for the main dish, it didn’t disappoint either. The yo mama burrito is just plain delicious. There isn’t really anything special to the ingredients other than the queso that comes with it. I definitely feel like I ate my burrito too fast.

Love the steak tacos. The sauces are awesome. The people who worked there were super friendly and helpful. Reminds me of a California Taqueria. The open air seating is fun and fresh. Next time, I'll have to try a Margarita. Parking was easy. I only wish you would open one in Biloxi, MS. We are in desperate need of a real good Mexican restaurant.

We thought we would try the Airport Blvd location for a lunch business meeting. Service was great! We were greeted right away and given a menu. Not sure if it was acoustics or what, but between the music and the overall noise, we really had to sort of talk loud in order to hear each other. So probably not a great place to have a work lunch, unless you sit outside. I thought the food was good, but definitely overpriced. I felt like I was paying to have dinner at a steak house rather than a casual lunch. I had the FatBoy Burrito Basket and my wife had the chips and salsa sampler. While I thought the food was good, there are other places in West Mobile to have a very similar meal for about half the price. I will say that the attentive service was very good, though.

It’s really hard to make the decision to pay that kind of money for a burrito when we have 3-4 item plates at actual Mexican restaurants in our area with fantastic frozen margaritas for 12 bucks a plate and the same price for the margaritas. I just don’t know if I’d be willing to give it another try. I understand not every item, every time might not be bad. But with the price point, it better be good. Thats all.

The workers where very inconsiderate as I forgot my baby's bottle and I came back to get it and they had already threw it away within one minute and had no thought to try to save it for the person who would be coming back. I was the only person in there with the baby and I definitely feel like it was done on purpose and when I asked them why they threw it away he said, he was told to throw it away. Will never come back again.

They have the best staff. If you are new, they walk you through the menu. The food is great, portions are perfect, and that queso dip is awesome! 👏🏻 highly recommend

Food is great, but please have 2 cashiers taking dine-in orders during lunch time M-F. Line was long to just order. Some people only get 30 minutes to a hour for lunch.

the employees were very kind but my god this place is horribly managed. literally the whole time I was there, the managers just sat around and did nothing other than look angry and upset at the employees for no reason. made for a really uncomfortable experience over all. do not recommend.

Writing this as I sit here. As someone who frequents the Taco Mama on Old Shell, this location is absolutely disgusting. This was my first time at this location on Airport; I ordered the Fat Boy as a bowl and it was served c͟o͟l͟d͟ with o͟n͟l͟y͟ 5 very small pieces of steak. My Mac and cheese was also served very cold and had to be remade. But tasted like they just rewarmed it. Overall I honestly wouldn’t recommend this location. Personally the original one is by far the best one. Also had a Cucumber Drink, tasted like pure syrup.
My pregnant sister even complained about how cold the food was. The service and communication is by far the worst at this location and I will not be back.

Busy place at lunchtime. Fast service. Loved the salted chips with salsa. My Tacos were hefty. Wish they'd had a little more meat on each but overall they were tasty and worthy. The sweet tea was refreshing 😋

Food was very good. My first visit so menu was a little overwhelming. I'll be better prepared next time. They need more cashiers. There was only one and the order line was to the door most of lunch time. I did spend $18 for a 2 taco basket with chips and guacamole and a tea. A little pricey but very good food.
Loud music inside made conversation difficult. I could do without it or turn it down.

Today 05/22/2024 I went to the Airport location Taco Mama (my very first time at this location) we went inside along with another black female and white family walked in as well. Since we were first me and my grandmother (black) were told they have not opened yet and they will give us a menu and we could wait outside the time was 10:57, the female(black) behind us was told the same and the family of 4 (white) was told the same. We were told to go outside but they allowed the family of 4 to stay inside until they opened. Then at 11:01 they came outside to signal us to come in where the white family who showed up last was already ordering. I gave our menus back and told them we would not be eating at this location. I love Taco Mama I usually go to the one on Old Shell Rd as they treat everyone the same. Due to me already being on airport I thought it be nice to stop at the most convenient location but never again. The Airport location service is not acceptable. That very interaction changed my outlook on the Taco Mama chain.

I'd thought there was a bar area to chilax
Yet none
Then I went to the back where ordering is done and found out there are no happy hours
So wine - beer are coming in @ 10💵
The young lady asked me if (@ 70) I knew what a Margarita was - yikes
I thought I would try the soft beef taco w/ slaw
As I just wanted to eat something I decided to stay & try it yet it was primeum priced.
The beer was cold
The slaw was served in a small Styrofoam cup & not that great
The Chips were flavorless
The soft taco was cold & maybe there were 4 tiny scoops of meat between the 2
I can't say it was the best
The patio was nice

I love this place, however you have to stand in line sometimes out the door waiting to take your order. 2 managers standing around doing nothing, even asked if he could open up another register. Took 28 minutes to get to the cashier. Please do better. Other than that. Great atmosphere.

The food is extremely good, has a great location and atmosphere, and the employees are very friendly and helpful.

But, that wait line...

I have been twice and had to wait in line outside the building in excess of 30 minutes each time just to reach the register to order our food. A second register is there, but it is seldom used. Waiting in line outside the restaurant this coming summer in the heat won't be very appealing to customers. Hopefully, this will be remedied by then.

Because this place is fairly new to this particular area, they haven't worked out all the kinks. I spent almost $30 and had to wait 30 min on a togo. I truly think my food had been ready and just sat forgotten about because it was cold when I finally got it. A lady sat at a table beside mine about 20 minutes after me and asked was I waiting on a togo as she was too. Although she came 20 min after me our food came out together. I also noticed multiple ppl who ordered dine in after I did, food was served before I received mine. I don't think it was intentional. I truly think they were just in a lunch rush. And because they are new, I'm going to give them a pass. Although cold, the food is still very tasteful.

If you want to talk to the people you're with, eat outside on the patio. The food and service was great but for older folks like me, way too loud, music, people, kitchen, etc. Wow. Great nachos though, friend liked her quesadilla, pick all the toppings you want! But the noise makes it a no go for me.

The food and drinks at Taco Mama are very good, but on the pricey side for what you get for your money. Honestly, I can get a nicer meal for a cheaper price other places in town, but when you crave tacos, what are you going to do? We visited on a weeknight. They were packed and had only 1 register open, so we waited in line way longer than it took us to eat our meals. I like the open-air seating and the location, but the music was really loud so all the diners were trying to talk over it. We had to yell so we could hear each other at our table.

My wife and I ate here for lunch and it was fantastic. The staff was very helpful and they we constantly cleaning. Steak quesadilla was the best.

West Mobile is so lucky to have a new Taco Mama! Barbacoa soft taco is EXCELLENT. Chips, salsa & queso are too! Friendly, helpful, cheerful staff make this place a winner every time!

Honest review. The staff was really friendly, I was greeted at the door with a menu. The food came out fast. 5 star service.

The food itself is so/so. The cilantro lime rice looks and tastes identical to Uncle Ben’s ready rice. My burrito was mostly full of what looks like canned refried beans. Salsa was tasty.
