My dad ended up spilling some tea, and they were very quick with trying to help us get moved to another table and even at my request remade my food due to tea spilling in it.

I guess I needed a reminder why I stopped coming here other than them losing one of their best waitresses Mel. Buyer beware!!! This used to be a great place to dine. Since new management took over service is in toilet. The pictures will tell you better than I can: Reduced portions (by half for same price), no substitutions allowed (I wasn't told this until after I placed my order.), no concept whatsoever of customer satisfaction, plastic ware instead of silverware, and the straw that broke the camel's back cold food = DONE AND WILL NOT BE BACK! 😡

Waited a very long time to try to El Jalisco's. There are so many good Mexican spots in Montgomery that it wasn't until I moved close by that I felt the need to try them. Nothing was inedible but boy was I really sad that nothing was great. The highlight was the Agua Pina with honorable mention for the choriqueso. The taco being the worst and the chicken quesadilla and the chicken flautas, that the menu said would be beef, tied for second worst... Which is my whole entree. Server was nice but awkward, building has seen better days, the first person I saw didn't speak, but the decor was nice. Wouldn't flat out refuse to go back but I certainly would recommend other spots close by. Paid $30 after tip and it wasn't worth that.

yeaaa I'm currently sitting and eating the food and it's so bad I'm debating leaving 😭 the guac was frozen like, I asked for no beef on my enchiladas and I got a beef enchilada, a cheese enchilada with cold cheese inside and finally a bean enchilada that was decent, the cheese dip we got was okay and we had to ask for refills instead of just being given them 😭 I'm never come back here for sure

Enjoyed visiting here.. Unlimited nacho chips starter with home made salsa! Their orchata is the best! Anyway, comparing to other mexican restaurants nearby.. Food is delicious and prices are decent with its serving size. 1 order can be for sharing actually. Servers are really friendly and their service is really great! making sure that your visit will be worth while. I've visited here twice with my husband and some friends and will sure to keep visiting. Try their Cheese dip ($3.99), Orchata ($2.19), Shrimp adobe ($13.99), El Jalisco Quesa steak ($10.98).. Liquor is kinda expensive ($9.99).

Went there with 2 other co workers and all the food they served me was bad. Like they served me spoiled rice, meat and beans. We grabbed Bistec Ranchero. Such disgusting good. I hope no one gets sick from eating there.

Didn't receive refills on our water, even though there was hardly anyone there. Salsa was pretty good, chips were good, but all of our other food was BLAND! Even covering it in salsa couldn't rescue it. Usually, salt isn't needed at a Mexican restaurant, but they still have it available on the table, NOT HERE, no salt or pepper shakers to be seen. The rice is a step above being plain white Rice. My crispy taco came laying on its side in some sort of juice on the plate, so it was soggy on the one side.

LOTS of choices, from typical tacos and burritos to mexican soups and other less well known dishes. Everything I've had there has been good and the service is terrific. Update: 03/19/24 New owners. More limited, but still good, food choices. Still very good service. Update: 05/15/24 I can no longer recommend. There are much better Mexican restaurants within a couple of miles in either direction. Food is now mediocre at best. Service is such that I never got a check; finally had to leave cash on the table and just go.

Tasty salsa and crisp chips were not enough to beckon me back here. The wait staff, while polite, was woefully inadequate for the number of diners.
We received what we ordered but the food was bland and needed seasoning. Prices were good but it killed me to tip 20% gratuity for the scant service we received.
Not saying that anything here was horrible, because it wasn't. It just wasn't WOW! That's great!

Very slow service even though there were only two other small families in the restaurant. The food was terrible. The chicken quesadilla didn't even taste like real chicken. It tasted like canned chicken. My son got a beef burrito and he was up all night with stomach pain and is currently throwing up. Do not recommend!!!!!!!

Stretching to give 2 stars on my first (& probably only) visit. They had just opened and there was a weird smell walking in, not a cleaner. Although my lunch of chicken with queso, rice, and beans was pretty good, my son's beef burrito was gross enough that neither of us could eat it. The texture was mushy and didn't taste good at all. And sadly, the margarita was very watered down. Sorry, but I can't see us visiting again.

Despite it taking a long time for our order to be taken as well as paying for our meal,it was overall an enjoyable experience! Been coming here off and on over the years and the place has changed, but it appears its changing for the better now and in the future as well! The atmosphere is more relaxed and friendly and the dining area is spacious as well. Will be back soon !

The food was terrible. The chips and salsa were the only thing satisfactory. However, when my entree arrived, it looked so unappetizing. I tried to eat a few bites but stopped as soon as I started to feel sick to my stomach. I will mention that our server was very polite and attentive. All of the staff we encountered were very friendly. The quality and preparation of our food was so bad that I was sick the rest of the day with stomach pain, and my friend was sick with diarrhea. El Jalisco..hire new cooks who can actually cook and find a decent purveyor. Also, ditch the 80s rock music for authentic musica from Mexico. All I can say is beware and don't order anything with refried beans or tortillas, which might be difficult at a Mexican food restaurant. I lived in Mexico for years, and the food was delicioso!

If I could leave no stars I would. Went in got a to go order before close and couldn’t return that night because it was 10:30. We ordered the Chile relleno, did not receive the beans, rice, guacamole salad or sour cream only the peppers .When returning the next day they said they can only give the sides and not the full meal. I spoke with Carlos the store manager and he was absolutely no help . Definitely will not be returning and want a refund.

A group of us went here because it was close to our hotel. The staff was able to accommodate 8 of us quickly. I'd like to think the waitress was new, but no one helped her out. No one came to check on us once we got our food and my drink was never refilled. The food was bland. Fajitas had very little flavor, tons of onions and peppers, but hardly any chicken. I would not return.

This restaurant accommodated a group of 23 efficiently. They easily separated alcohol from food and soft drinks. The Verde sauce was amazing. There was parking for our 56-person bus. Was really pleased with the whole thing and it was affordable.

Stopped in on our way home from Biloxi to Atlanta. Very disappointed. Margaritas tasted like sweet and sour. I agree with other reviews. Food not very good. Menu, glass, and silverware was dirty.

Worst restaurant I've ever been to, hands down. Ordered a platter with different things and they all disappointed. Enchilada had a weird flavor. Chile relleno was flavorless and filled with so much cheese it made me sick. Birria tacos were soggy and the meat was super dry. And the quesadilla looked nice on the outside, but when I opened it the cheese was just thrown in there and wasn't even melted. Worst food ever. As if that wasn't bad enough, when I opened my napkin with the silverware the knife had dried food in it and was disgustingly dirty. All in all a horrible experience. Stay away.

My boyfriend and I came here a few weeks ago and had no issues but that was not the case this time. If you have allergens, beware! I ordered two chimichanga entrees as I misread the menu and meant to only order one (I thought one portion came with two). I made sure to specify that they were chicken and not beef as I have an allergy, and she said she would make certain of it. When my boyfriend and I’s food was brought out, both of my chimichangas were made with beef. When I told her this, she told me that I had ordered beef and tried to argue with me about it. I told her that I have an allergy to beef, so why would I order them? She said okay and took my plate and had the order remade. When she brought it back, she took my boyfriend’s cup for a refill and did not bring it back until she brought us the check, about 15 minutes later. The restaurant was not busy and she continued to stop and chat with the couple in the booth behind us. I only ate about a third of one chimichanga before I started to feel queasy. My boyfriend finished my plate and when we looked at the tab, we had been charged for two chimichanga entrees. When we asked about this, our waitress seemed really annoyed and went and grabbed a menu. Even after apologizing for my mistake, she was still a bit huffy. I never received the additional portions for my second chimichanga as I would have taken the rice and beans home for my boyfriend to eat later. As soon as we left the restaurant, I started to feel extremely sick and was up for most of the night in the bathroom.

When I called today and asked to speak with a manager, the man on the phone first asked me about my problem. When I explained to him that I wanted someone to talk with our waitress and the staff about what happened, he said that he was the one who had remade the order. He said he remembered remaking the food and ensured me that it was plated on a different plate. After talking about this with my boyfriend, he said he was pretty sure there was beef in the bites that he had eaten, now that he had thought about it. The man on the phone also made sure to mention that without proof that I had gone to the doctor’s for my reaction, they wouldn’t be liable; he did not seem to believe me.

I understand that there is always risk of cross contamination, and I understand the risks at any establishment. I wasn’t asking for a refund, I was asking for a conversation to be had with the employees. I did not even get to speak with an actual manager and I did not even get an apology. Do better.

I use to visit this restaurant all day time (every Tuesday). I haven’t visit in a while, so my family and I decided we wanted to revisit today. Our waitress (Jalene), rushed us while ordering, she stated that she has another table to service. She had taken two of our orders and the rest of us was patiently waiting while the other order. Secondly, her demeanor (rude) changed when we asked about a previous waitress (Melanie). She demanded the menus from us by saying “give me the menu”. When we received our food, I’ve noticed mine was incorrect and I’ve informed her. Instead of her providing an apology for her mistake, she said “that’s not what you order”. She kept being argumentative about what I ordered. Third, we asked for a manager twice (Orlando) from another waitress. The second time the other waitress approached our table stating that “he informed me to te you that he’s busy in the kitchen”. Then we informed our waitress (Jalene) that we asked for the Manager. This is the icing on the cake, she stated that “you didn’t ask me”. We removed ourselves from the table to check out at the front door. The manager (Orlando) approached us after a hour of asking for a manager. We’ve explained to him how we were treated terribly tonight and kept stating that “he was in the kitchen cooking and he was short staffed”. He didn’t discus nor was he concerned about how we was treated by our waitress. El Jalisco was my favorite restaurant until tonight. I’m so disappointed and disgusted on how the service was tonight. I will not return and spend my money where I’m not treated properly. I miss the previous management (Monica) and waiting team (Melanie).

I'll have to say, the food is always good, especially when you get what you ordered. Staff is very unfriendly and when told they brought the wrong item will stand at your table and argue with you and try to shame you into paying for their screw-up. I'll wait 6 months and see if they improve.

Good morning all. This review is based on the past two visits.
This used to be our go to for Mexican in Mintgomery AL. We when there about seven months ago and we a bit taken back my the lack of service and quality of food tast. Food was bland and took an unusual amount of time for drink order. Once food arrived, that was the last of thewaitress.
Last night, same thing occurred with the same result. Food bland, only on server for the entire restaurant. To the owner, get out and start assisting, it is your business. We have decided to never return. I felt I was robbed due to the price. Fajitas for two, margaritas x2, and one water. $47.50, the sad part, mostly veggies for a meal.

My husband and I have been customers here for years and it has been our go to Mexican restaurant. It always had good service and very good food. Since Covid, the service has gone down terribly! It is hard to get refills on drinks, refills on chips and they charge now for extra salsa. We have to run them down to get our check every time we are there. We were there yesterday and it will be our last! The women's bathroom is disgusting! One stall has been out of service for months and there is no AC in the bathroom and the smell is like a giant sewer!

I deleted my previous review. A long, deep sigh......... covid19 has caused much more than sickness and death. I took advantage of taco Tuesday on the 19th. Service was exceptionally slow so I ate the small cup of salsa and chips so I asked for another. Did she tell me it now costs $1.00? No she didn't. There is about 1.5-2.0 ounces of salsa in the cup. That reduced my tip by two dollars. Actually three dollars but management got the third dollar!! I ate there again for lunch yesterday. For the first time in my life I had to ask for a fork and napkin when the food was brought to my table. The impression I have received is this restaurant really doesn't care if anyone dines there or not. Well.......... they will not see me again. This was my first time here. As we walked in, the partons leaving told us that we would love it and this place did not disappoint! My only "complaint" is that the waitress told a fib to streamline service. I can't blame her, because I overheard the other waitress, who took a different approach with her customers, explaining the long wait for certain items and why.
Overall our food, drinks, and service were great. This is definitely a place I'm coming to again.

Let me start by saying I purchased food last night….
They left out all of the chicken for the fajita.
No problem things happen…
We go back to get the meal replaced perfect they threw in 2 tacos for the inconvenience….
We get home and we are eating guess what is in the chicken ? a rock in the fajitas picture below…..
NEVERRRRR AGAIN!!!!!!
