I really cannot say enough good things about this place. Great vibe, outstanding food and service with a smile. I got the Burrito Gandalla. It very well could have been the best burrito I’ve ever had. I will be coming here every time I’m in the area. Well done, El Taco Shop!

First time at El Taco shop and the set up is a little different that other Mexican restaurants in the area. You go to the counter to order then find a seat. There really is no wait staff aside form the people who bring the foos to your table. With that being said the food was really flavorful and the margarita flights were top tier! I will be back for sure.

The food here is very good. I don’t care for the seating though so it’s only take out for me. You order/pay for your food and drinks at the register and then you go and find your own table. They bring you your food, but you fix your own drinks, salsas and get you own utensils. It reminds me somewhat of a buffet without the actual buffet. You won’t get a complimentary basket of chips and salsa either. If you want that, you have to order when you first come in. Their guacamole is the best I’ve ever had.

I came here for lunch with my wife, and I was pleasantly surprised with the great value one can get from eating here. The food is well-seasoned and is decently price. The portions are great. They do not give chips and salsa whenever you first sit down, but that is okay. I appreciate that all the toppings are available at the little bar, and I wish they had Coke products instead of Pepsi, but otherwise, this place will become one of our normal rotation spots. Before we found this place, we went to Sol often, and Sol was more expensive.

This is the most authentically Mexican of the gringo Mexican restaurants in Montgomery and has a nice atmosphere. If you don’t know what to order, you have to order at the counter. If you don’t want to feel rushed I suggest deciding from the online menu I ahead of time. My son and I both enjoyed our food, which arrived quickly, making it great for lunch.

Only place in the area where you'll get options like cow tongue, pork belly, cow stomach, and all the other spectacular cuts which they stew low and slow in their beautiful broths. They have all the usual stuff too like the typical tacos. Asada. Al pastor. Birria. Etc.

The beer selection is great and the mugs are tall and frosty. Geniunely couldnt breathe after 8 tacos and a half liter of beer. Spectacular. Would absolutely come again.

The sauces kick butt and the sauce/condiment island is super convenient. Loved this place.

We ordered their Burrito Gandalla (asada burrito) and Carne Azada plate. The grilled skirt steak was a generous size as well as the amount of sautéed onions and jalapeños that came with the plate. We just wished the asada meat in both the burrito and the plate was slightly less cooked because it was a tiny bit dry. Nevertheless, our meals were absolutely delicious!

My favorite part of the Carne Azada plate was actually the rice and beans it came with… perfectly seasoned and so comforting. El Taco Shop has now become one of my top Mexican restaurants for rice and beans, lol. Also, their green sauce was so good. Thank you for the yummy food and kind customer service. We will be back!

What can I say?

I live in Mexico, in Ensenada. We know our food here. I can only say that I was worried not to find an authentic flavor like back home in Montgomery area. But, El taco Shop caught me off guard, so good, service is great, is a nice cozy place, Food is tasty!!

Birria is so yummy, rice is perfection.
My favorite so far is "Caldo de res" It tasted like home, almost like the one my abuela used to make.

If I move there, that place will be my office.

We went here today and it was too expensive for the food you received. My husband had the ribeye and it was very dry and thin, not worth $16. My taco salad was flavorless. Our kids barely ate their food. The servers were nice, but the food was meh. For better flavor, better steak, go to Taco Bell, my husband says.

For my first experience, meh, I got the steak burrito and it was literally steak and tortilla; no sauce, no tomatoes, no cheese just steak and tortilla and dryness. A little tiny burrito that should be a kidz meal, but “adult” meal, disappointing. Do I suppose to add the toppings on it or something!? Overall a meh

Food was good, service was terrible, we were seated at a table and no one ever came to check on us. I guess it’s all self service or maybe self service for some people and not others. They wanted a tip before we ate, how? No ones gonna tip before they eat, that would just be a waste if the service is bad and it was.

$3 a piece for one taco and for it to be the smallest tacos ever made in life that’s unseasoned. Paid $3 for the biggest nastiest drink I’ve ever swallowed down my esophagus ___ do not get the Jamaica drink it’s very tasteless not sweet at all. Salad had the hugest Cumcumbers and tomato with terrible lettuce. I traveled so far so be so disappointed. Will not return . Atmosphere was decent if that. We had 5 tacos and a salad with drink . Maybe I should’ve tried something else but I doubt i wanted to waste anymore money or time.

I know it sounds weird but when I tasted the food it instantly brought back memories of California. Turns out the husband and wife are from San Berdino, CA. True Mexican food has finally arrived in Montgomery, AL!!

UPDATE: The expanded restaurant is even better than ever with a bar and more seating!

The restaurant is very messy and very slow to get cleaned. Food and dirty plates piled on unusable tables. The food, however, is AMAZING. Everything I had was delicious. The staff is friendly and competent, they just need to buss tables quicker!!

Wife’s food came out after 15 minutes then mine came out 20 minutes later, no sorry for the wait or anything. Extremely average, lacking on the protein. They also have the nerve to ask for a tip when you literally do everything (get your own drink, silverware, and apparently have to go ask for your own food after ordering) $30 two ‘meals’ one drink

If I could give 0 I would. Asked twice for the tortillas that goes with my minor daughter order. She waited over 20mins to be able to eat. After being ignored and avoided asked to speak to a manager. Don't be afraid to get the caldo. Yum!!! Add a bunch of onions and cilantro if you want.

If you get the tacos and can't decide between steak or chorizo, get the campechana which comes with both. Load up the tacos with the toppings on the cart by the drinks. One taco comes with 2 tortillas but it can easily be separated into 2 tacos.

I'm told the menudo is pretty good, but depending on what you're used to, you may be surprised it doesn't come with hominy.

The huevos con chorizo is one of our faves.

The whole fried fish is worth the wait!

If you order a drink, try a little bit of each drink (the horchata is the best) then fill up on your fave.

I love this place, the food is authentic. There is delicious jamaica, horchata, or pina. The Mexican style shrimp ceviche, the Birria tacos and everything else I've had on the menu is delicious. Even though I love the food and service I give the atmosphere only three because the music is up a little too high for a lunch time location. Having a conversation can be a little difficult over the mariachi band style music playing. You're in for a lively environment.

Listen to me. This place is fire. If don’t know what they put in their salsa but it’s the best. I am obsessed. I got a mini burrito and chips and salsa. It was $9. Amazing. I ordered #7 TikTok Tacos- birria tacos combo and a draft Dos Equis. Great service. Food came out fast and exactly as ordered. It was fantastic! There was also live music- Jason Givens. They definitely need to have him back again! All-around great dinner!

It's a pretty cool place, certain dishes, like the Quesadilla, you can choose between four different meat. I chose Al Pastor for the meat. Very greasy but still good. Great service.

Awesome new Taqueria on Taylor Road, give them a try. They're very friendly and helpful. English is spoken so no problem ordering. Menu is small, but that means they make everything fresh and delicious! Corn tortillas are not real corny, so they don't weight on you. They have a nice selection of Mexican beers, and you can start a tab. You order at the counter and site down and they bring you your food. We had many different tacos, ceviche, and guacamole. Can't wait to get back and try something new!

The customer service was extremely good and everyone was super helpful and kind. The food was really good and flavorful. The salsa and guacamole was super good. We got tacos, flautas, quesadilla and a dip sampler. Had a little area that we chose to eat outside, which was really nice.

I only came here because tiktok said how great it was. Plus I ordered birria tacos and was told that because I did not purchase the tiktok plate that I will not receive the cheese, cilantro, onions or sauce that makes a birria taco, a birria taco. I am extremely upset, I was looking forward to it. I will NOT be back ever. And the service was a 2/10.
