Good prices, good food, good service!

We came here for an early date night on a Tuesday. Even though it was Tuesday, we were seated quickly. We ordered queso, which was spicy and flavorful. I ordered the Steak and cheese sizzler with beans, rice, and a tortilla--my wife ordered a combo 3 with two beef tacos and a chicken quesadilla. Everything was yummy, and the staff were attentive.

First time visiting this establishment and was not disappointed. We were passing through Montgomery and decided to stop for a new and different experience. Everything was great; we had the large beef burrito with cheese, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese, and also the sizzling chicken fajitas with refried beans, rice, and all the fixings. Only took points because they don't honor military service or Veterans. Shame on You!!

I can't comment on the food because I came strictly for the drinks. I had 2 of their medium-sized House Margaritas. The mediums were actually pretty huge, and I probably overdid it a bit, lol! Overall, I spent $24.75 when tax was added.

The patio area looked really pretty, but it was entirely too hot to sit outside AND drink. Service was so-so. Will come back.

When here on a slow Thursday and hit slower service. The lady forgot my certain particular condiment that I wasn't charge for but I will say the the food was mediocre but I have t been in a while and they do not serve colorful tasty fruity margaritas. Strawberry margaritas they don't have I repeat they do not have.

Love the cheese dip!!! Definitely not your standard melted white cheese! The margaritas are amazing and the service is outstanding. A go to Mexican place for sure!!

Apologies for the pictures, we had eaten before I decided to take them. Some friends and I decided to visit this restaurant. It was a chill environment. The drink were amazing. I ordered the steak medium, the same thing with my friend, it came out well done. We didn’t complain - it was edible. Waitress wasn’t too pleasant or seemed interested in answering questions. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant nor would I not recommend it. However, I would not be in a rush to visit again. Okay service, okay food.

Food was surprisingly bland and the service was very confusing. Someone came to take our order, some gave just drink orders and others apps, food etc. Then 2 others came and took our orders again, the whole order - drinks, apps, food, etc even though we kept saying we already gave those to someone. While they were re-taking our orders, the first guy brought our drinks. It got worse from there SMH

A really good Mexican place for family. This is has been one of my favorite spots to eat for graduation and family get togethers. The prices are more on the expensive side usually about $20-$25 per person. The salsa and cheese dip are really good. I had Texas fajitas and I was full by two tortias stuffed fully. The meat was juicy and fresh.

I went with a friend for his birthday since Texas Roadhouse was SO darn busy, and what we thought would be a 25 minutw wait turned into 45 min.

Ixtapa was a great area with good food and a great lunch menus for a good price!! Definitely will be going back again!!

I was debating on whether I wanted to take the time to write this review because I wanted to give the waiter the benefit of the doubt. I went in with two friends and my one year old son this past Saturday. I’m Black and my two friends are white women, there’s a reason I bring this up. Immediately after we sat down, our waiter turned his back to me and really only addressed my friend RM barely acknowledging me but that’s fine I thought as long as I get my food. I ordered of the lunch menu, two carne asada tacos and queso dip w chorizo in it…. As having had true Mexican food in intimate settings where I’m the only Black person/non Hispanic, I have tasted what homemade Mexican food tastes like, therefore I am picky when I eat Mexican food. To keep it plain, the food was disappointing. I don’t know why I try Mexican food outside of California because I’m almost always let down. Anyways, when it came time to pay, my two friends tipped him $40 for a ticket that was $40, so basically a 100% tip. He was shocked and grateful, and brought back to go cups for them but didn’t bring one for me. My ticket was $25 and I tipped $10 because I’ve been a waitress and I know how it goes. I tipped nearly 50% but I didn’t get a to go cup or even asked if I wanted one. I hate to bring the race card into it, but when you’re watching two white people get served better in your face as a non White person, it’s bothersome and it makes tipping a less pleasant experience because I didn’t feel I got the same treatment when I still tipped pretty nicely either way. I say all this to say, it was their idea to go there but I will be making other suggestions out next outing nor will I ever visit again on my own accord.

P.S I have 7 years worth of Spanish classes, I could have minored in Spanish if I stayed in school. I love the Hispanic culture of all backgrounds, good people, good food. I believe maybe other Black people may have given the impression that we don’t tip and we’re difficult but let’s try to judge people off their actions and not the color of their skin.

I was driving so I walked in to order a rice, bean, and cheese burrito to go. Just one burrito with nothing on top of it and nothing extra. It's not a normal menu item so they have trouble figuring out what to charge. When it arrived, it was in a pie Pan covered with cheese. Sauce chips and salsa, also no Utensils. So now I'm stuck trying to eat this messy thing going down the road. I just tossed the whole thing in the trash. Basic instructions for a restaurant with a commercial kitchen should not be that hard to do. Maybe the food is good, I'm not sure. However, be sure you're specific and check before you leave. If I'm through town again maybe I'll try the second time.

A family allowed their children to run around the restaurant yelling and disturbing our meal. When we mentioned it to the manager they said it was not their problem. The manager was very disrespectful and threatened to have me removed from the restaurant because I complained. Last time I will visit.

A friend invited me to try this Mexican restaurant, my expectations were high and they were not met. I ordered a "Queso fundido con chorizo" and they way it was presented was way far from expected, usually it is a bowl of melted cheese with a nice boiling portion of chorizo on the top. Well my dish was served with 2/3 of beef steak and 1/3 of chorizo 🤔 and then a light, not even covering, portion of cheese on top. Both mentioned it should not look like it, but the answer was "that's the way we serve it". The salsa the brought with the totopos at the beginning was not home made. With so many options of Mexican restaurants in Montgomery it's sad to say that for now it is not even in the middle of the list.

Food comes out very fast. I like anything with the ground beef and really all food is solid (if not quite amazing) that I’ve had here. It’s our go-to for Fridays after a long week. Really good margaritas, good service, reasonable prices.

First time here and it will be the last. Service was horrible. I couldn't even get the waitress to give us a refill. Poor communication. Ordered one thing and got something completely different that was more expensive. Left without even getting a refill. Do not recommend. Will not be going back. Much better Mexican restaurants around.

I was very dissapointed. If you like traditional food or Mexican food in general this is NOT the place. If you like very Americanised mexican then go for it. We got the nachos and the meat the use is the same one they use at taco bell. Atmosphere? There isn't any!! Service was mediocre no smile no decent service. Very basic and they forgot about us. Just stay away.

Enchiladas were good. I ordered 2 tamales a la carte. One was fine and delicious, the 2nd was discolored, off texture, and tasted like it had been dropped in pine sol then recooked. Damn shame.

Recent Edit: Now they add a service charge for waitstaff for to-go orders. To-go orders. Makes no sense.

Omg, I love this place! Juan is my favorite server (the one who's son works there too)!! I've been going here for years. Food is great. Margaritas are too! Good prices. Generally crowded but wait isn't too long. I recommend and will of course return again and again!

My kids grew up going to Ixtapa when it was in its old location. Now, whenever they choose Mexican, they choose Ixtapa! We've always loved it! Great food and margaritas!

Food was really good. Nice restaurant, good atmosphere, covered outdoor seating with TV's. Nice bar area. Service was a little slow which didn't make much sense because there were only a few tables at 330 pm. Other than that, everything else was worth it.

I live in Southern California. I would not typically eat Mexican in Montgomery but my parents like this place so I took them there as an early Mother's Day present since I didn't want to deal with the crowds on Sunday. The food is a 3.5. it's ok. Not bad. I got lunch #25 which is: RIO GRANDEOne chile relleno, beef tostada, beef enchilada, beef taco and burrito. So a bit of everything. All was cooked well, the mole they drop on everything but the poblano was quite good. All in all the food was good but my bar is simply too high to give it anything higher. The extra half was for the service which was outstanding and the atmosphere. I'm used to hole in the wall places which of course typically have the best Mexican food in SoCal but this is a nice, well put together restaurant. Good atmosphere. The margarita was VERY weak and I almost took a star off but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and let it go but you might want to add a shot if you get the medium rock margarita. I mean, WEAK. Anyway, there are better spots in Gump but if you're in EastChase and want some Americanized Mexican food Ixtapa will fit the bill.

The food is average and the servers act as if they don't care. We had to get up and ask for chips and our glasses were left empty.
Pretty sad commentary as this used to be a very good restaurant. Not recommended.

The food wasn't bad but the service needs work. Our waitress gave us our drinks before and without our water. We had to stop someone else and ask for water. We waited even longer to pay, THAT'S NEW lol. Like is the food free or something, lol. HOWEVER, WE WERE ABLE TO HEAR EVERY CONVERSATION SHE HAD WITH EVERYONE. LATER, we had drinks at the bar and I ordered fried ice cream (IDK WHY). It was stale so I didn't finish it BUT the inside (ice cream) wasn't bad. Not sure if I would visit again but the ppl were nice so that's a plus.

The service was good and fast! But if you are not Mexican please don't think this is Mexican food, I have no idea why "Mexican food" in the USA is horrible. I was disappointed this place I didn't like nothing, even the guacamole, which btw the waiter put a different (higher) price on the bill. The chile relleno of cheese was stuffed with yellow cheese!! 🤢 I swear a real Mexican mushroom quesadilla is totally different, is delicious compared to what I ate here and the chicken soup I felt is a recalentado of recalentado of recalentado

One waitress serving about 8 tables. She did the best she could but needed help. Took over an hour from sitting down to getting food. Fajitas came out 10 minutes after other food was delivered. I’m not very picky about my Mexican food but enchilada mole sauce was so salty I couldn’t eat it. Recommending skipping this place.
