Carlos gave me efficient service for my take our order of a bunch of sides, including world's best tamal ever, refried beans, chicken, and a few more.
I passed on the tempting margaritas, and full bar. I love the decor with the traditional sombrero and framed bull fighter jackets contrasting with contemporary art.
Full bar with total "ambiente Mexicano."
The music is not too loud.

Jalapenos in the Alley is a nice restaurant specializing in Mexican food in Montgomery, AL. It is located downtown in "The Alley".

Service was very fast and they were able to accommodate a party of 14. The impressive part of the experience was how fast the food and drinks were served for a party of 14.

I ordered the Burrito Grande (# 28) with grilled steak. It arrived quickly with rice and beans. The burrito wasn't overly large, and really was just a perfect size for dinner. I would say the burrito could have used a bit more flavor as I would describe it as more on the average/bland side.

The chips and salsa kept flowing. The drinks arrived quickly, and overall, the experience was great. I would go again.

Delicious authentic Mexican restaurant with traditional decor and a fully stocked bar. The guacamole is freshly made, and so is the agua fresca ( I had the mango-yum!). Friendly staff and very quick service. I would give the atmosphere an absolute 5 stars, especially since its location is inside and area called The Alley, which is nice in and of itself, and full of history but our meal was interrupted by a man who seemed unstable- obviously not the restaurant's fault but it seems to be a common occurrence in the area.

Haven't been to this place in years. Decide to stop by for lunch before work to grab a small entree. I usually get the Nacho supreme and cheese dip on side. The waiter was very polite and entertaining. My sweet tea was too sweet ( way pass sweet) and I return it for lemonade. The lemonade was watered down and I return it for water. The waiter didn't mind at all making my order just right. When my food came out it looked decent. The food wasn't as hot as my coworkers food. As I am observing the plate I notice chucks of chicken instead of shredded in my nachos. Instead of making another complaint; I ate what I could and still tip the waiter. Not sure I'll be back at this.

Had a great time last night!!! I ordered the chile Relleno, with rice and grilled mushrooms and it was soooo AMAZING. I appreciated the friendly service and LOVED how every server helped each other serve, and clean up. Will def come back again

Great place for a large group! We were able to do individual tickets. People arrived and ordered at different times and all food was brought out promptly. The medium margaritas are HUGE!

Some of the worst TexMex I've had, while also being some of the most expensive. Bean dip was oily, cheese wasn't even melted. Rest of the food was bland and certainly not worth the higher than average cost.

HAHA let's get to work shall we. Ok So casual day after work A couple of Friends and I went here. As usual you all know I love food especially down town food but jalapeno wasn't jalapenoing. I ordered the 3 Taco's maybe I just over estimated them. Because they are in downtown Montgomery. But back to the three tacos I got my food when I got my food I had nothing but meat and lettuce and then it was $12 with the water my friends however one of them they tried to overcharge her and the food wasn't that great I've been to a lot of Mexican restaurants but this one is a hell no. They couldn't get the order right for nothing. I mean when I saw were only three tables of people there. I knew then this was a bad idea. I mean it was low quality food and the service was horrible. This is definitely not a go back to. This was probably the worst Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. I've never been to a Mexican restaurant where I only get meat and lettuce no cheese no tomatoes where the real Taco's at? It's a shame I had to go to McDonald's after leaving here. And yes that was the show how bad it was. Never trying again. They should be ashamed of themselves for even being downtown that wasn't even downtown quality food that was Montgomery public School lunch Sighed the Cop. Since that's what they called me.

First of all the server looked like he didn't want to be there. Usually you check on the customer, he didn't.I had the shrimp salad bowl, the bowl was stale, 6 or 7 shrimps in it. He went to the restroom about 15min. I asked a man that worked there was he the mgr, he was so we need the ticket and the server was mad or irritated but I will not ever go there. I went 2yrs ago and the food was Mediocre then, it was worse tonight. I do not recommend this restaurant. A bottle of water would have more taste what I got. I did notice he was more friendly with the other customers, of course they were white.

My fiancé took me here for lunch. The food wasn’t bad. The cheese dip was great. Loved the chips.
Our waiter brought our drinks out. Gave me tea after I said sprite. Fixed it. We ordered. He brought our food out. I got cheese enchiladas with rice. He asked if I wanted cheese on top of my enchiladas. I said yes so he took my plate back. While bringing it back out I saw his THUMB literally in my rice. When he set my plate down there was rice on his thumb. Then I watched him touch his face while at the kitchen. My fiancé just scraped the part the waiter touched so I could eat it instead of taking it back yet again. The food wasn’t bad! I just prefer it without thumb.

We, along with another table, waited 20 minutes to get our check. We kept trying to wave people down. It’s ridiculous when I need to get up to go find someone just to say we are ready to leave. Food was very mediocre.

Extremely rude!!! We asked not to be seated by the door due to the cold air coming in and we were seated elsewhere but ignored since then.. everyone who came in was served drinks and even some had their food before us. We sat there waiting and waiting, even asked them what was the problem and still ignored! I personally wouldn't recommend this place to anyone and think they should have their business license revoked or moved because it felt like discrimination! I've never seen or been treated as such the way we were treated today. Their business will not be patronized by us!

I was greeted with a basket of chips and salsa. The salsa was just right consistency for me, saucy and chunky. Very tasty! This was in “The Alley. Love the atmosphere! All the servers brought a big sombrero for a little girl for her birthday and sang her happy birthday. So festive!
The server recommend the dish I had queso flameado. It was delicious! It is served with rice and refried beans and 3 warm tortillas. I ate one and bundle up 2 to take with me.

Last time we was here was over a year ago. We had chicken fajitas which was mostly peppers and onions with little bits of chicken mixed in. Certainly not worth the $15 they cost. Their house margaritas are very weak and taste like straight sweet and sour mix and they are expensive. Chips and salsa was good. Cheese dip would have been good but came out just like warm so it was already congealing. Waiter was good and quick with service. Food was just lacking this time and wouldn’t waste my money on their margaritas.

My family had a poor experience here. My husband asked what beers were on tap and our waiter had no idea. The waiter asked someone else who seemed in charge and he also didn't know. The beer he did decide on they didn't have, so he didn't get a drink at all.

We both got ground beef based items. The beef tasted off and weird and was a strange color. Not good at all. The food was lackluster but the worst part was that this is basically a sports bar. People were yelling at the TV at a football game the entire time we were there. Very unpleasant. I wouldn't expect that of a Mexican restaurant. Will definitely not be back.

I've been plenty of times, but my most recent experience resulted in a tip amount I did not make. I received a notification from my credit card regarding it, contacted the restaurant, and they never followed up.

Food was average. Service was awful!!! My husband and I went for lunch and there was only one other couple inside. It took FOREVER to get served! When our waiter finally came to us, he wasn’t friendly AT ALL and kept forgetting everything we asked for (I.e., margarita order, water with lemon, sour cream). He never checked on us. When he brought our change back from us paying, he tapped the tray the money was on and had the AUDACITY to tell us to leave a tip. My husband and I are GREAT tippers and would’ve tipped despite the bad service, but when he did that, we decided to leave. When we left, he opened the main entrance door and sarcastically said “thanks for the tip.” We will NEVER go back here.

I really didn’t experience what I read in these other reviews. Yes the service was amazing and very personal. The food was really really good. I had the street tacos. They were delicious. My husband had a pork dish with Verde sauce that he loved. Our friends had enchiladas with pork tips on the top and they loved it. We got a pitcher of Texas margaritas and they were on point! I would definitely return here!!

I was there yesterday with my daughter and her husband, we were seated then ignored for at ten minutes before my son in law called for a waiter. I ordered bud light, he brought me a Diet Coke, I told him I didn’t order that, he replied “you’ll like it”. I had been here before so I showed him two pictures of what I wanted, he kept asking me was I sure. I said yes I’m sure, I’ve had it before. He kept saying well it’s very spicy maybe you want something else. After going back and forth with him I just looked at my daughter and stopped talking. My son in law stood up and asked him what his problem was and why was he treating me with so much disrespect. By this time I stormed out and my daughter started going back in fourth with him. Worst experience ever. I’ve experienced racism in my life but in all my 45 years I’ve never experienced anything like what happened yesterday. My only regret is not calling the police and suing them. Looking at the reviews, this wasn’t the first time and I’m sure it won’t be the last, someone will eventually get them closed down. I didn’t know Mexicans were racist because I’ve never had a problem with them. SMH sure proved me wrong.

Sorry but the tacos were absurd. The pork wasn't even cooked. It was pink with some blood, and it was underseasoned. Sure the service here is great but the food should improve. This isn't even Mexican food, it's very whitewash. The drinks were either water down or really sweet. They are also limited on supply.

It's a family style restaurant, tacos are not sold individually, so from the start I was struggling to figure out a way to get a good size plate of a variety of tacos. The bar was also very weak. The 4 street taco meal was over $16 and adding tacos was $4.25 each. The standard plate came with 2 asada/chorizo (they mix the 2 together) and pollo. I asked if they could make any other types and he said they could make pork (carnitas). For the price, I was not super impressed. The chicken LOOKED seasoned and yummy... but was pretty bland. The steak and chorizo combo was ok. The carnitas was also bland, just like a a pulled pork. Had to ask for extra onion's and Cilantro as they came out with very little. Single tortilla that was done well. Over all I'd say the tacos were a 3.6, but I'll round up to a 4.

The drinks are good. My husband ordered the Alley steak... he said it tasted decent. I ordered the Supreme nachos... what a disappointment. The chips were soft and the beef tasted like minced meat. I should have ordered the steak too.

I stopped in town to go to a museum, and decided to eat here in the Alley. The food was good. I had shrimp tacos and I tried the beef nachos. They were both fresh. It’s was mid week after lunch, so not many people there, but I’m guessing the location is busy on weekends.

We had a nice lunch here. Loved the house salsa, nice and thick. Enchiladas were so-so. The Mexican chorizo, which is like 3 small breakfast burritos with egg and sausage, were good.

Nice restaurant that is tucked back into the "Alley" in downtown Montgomery! The salsa and chips were great! The chips were fresh and hot, the salsa wasn't too spicy but the bowl the salsa came in needs to be bigger! Two people would have emptied it in no time! I ordered the Chicken Chimichanga with Rice and Beans. It also came w/ lettuce and your choice of Sour Cream or Guacamole ($12.95). The Chimichanga was small, almost like a Burrito rolled up but the taste made up for that!
If you sit at the bar like I did be careful of the chairs! They all need to be replaced or tightened up! They were so wobbly I was afraid it might fall apart while I was sitting on it!
I don't remember my waiter's name but he was very nice!
I will definitely be going back!

I would not recommend this establishment to anybody. I came here for lunch to celebrate my college graduation with family and received horrible customer service from my waiter, Carlos (a 5'8 guy with tattoos on his neck), who claimed to be the owners son. As soon as my family and I sat down to be served I could tell Carlos didn't want to be there, as he gave passive aggressive remarks to every small request that my family and I asked of him. After receiving my food, which was a ground beef burrito that had watery and hardly seasoned ground beef, I told Carlos that I didn't like it and asked him if I could order a chicken fajita instead; he proceeded to tell me "why don't you like it, your niece ordered the same thing and she likes it", and ironically she did not like it either. After telling me this, he proceeded to call me "spoiled" in front of my entire family and then went back into the kitchen to get me the chicken fajita. This poor interaction and disrespectful customer service actually ruined the afternoon for me, as I have never had a waiter that was so blatantly rude. If I were you I'd spend my money elsewhere at the many other restaurants along the riverwalk area!

Very authentic Mexican food. Their agua frescas are ver refreshing and made out of real fruit! Their portions are great and their lunch prices are very reasonable. Had to try their fajitas and definitely passed my test! You may want to get there by 11:30 am to avoid the lunch rush hour (I’m glad we did). Enjoy!

Me & my family just left this restaurant & received the WORST customer service ever. To start with it took about 5 minutes before we were acknowledged to be seated. The 1 waiter was also the bartender & tending to those at the bar. Finally was seated, looked over menus & as we were ordering we were literally rushed to order our food. Couldn't order dessert since she took the menus immediately after we ordered & didn’t bother to ask if we wanted to order dessert just asked how many checks we were paying in. My son ordered the Pina colada horchata but it didn't taste pleasant at all. We asked for another drink was told she dont swap drinks mo matter what. That if we don't like it we STILL have to pay for the drink & the new one. My son ordered a coke. Move to paying & she collects my card but I noticed it's taking over 5 minutes to bring it back. Next thing we know another waiter brings over my card. I asked him was thus just left out over there & he didn't lie & said yes. As a tourist from Chicago visiting your state this is 1 establishment I will not come back to.

I have come to this place 2x while I have been in town on business and it has been by far the poorest experience I’ve had in a long time at bar. Had every bit of the feel of a good ole boi bar where people can randomly walk up and get shots for free, severs ignore people who are actually paying money, and the food comes out cold and half a**. Don’t come here even if it is within walking distance of your hotel as it will be an experience you can’t take back. That is no exaggeration if you value service don’t come here.

The food is what you'd expect for an average Mexican joint. I had the Carne Asada; it was a good cut off meat but lacked any real flavor. My wife had grilled shrimp and enjoyed it.

The service is horrible, the guy that seated us was either rushing usc when he did stop at our table, or was hard to catch when we needed something (restaurant wasn't too busy) .

Racisist!!! Google said they closed at 9:30 we entered at 8:30 they told us they closed in 10 minutes. A Caucasian couple had just walked in a couple seconds before us and they welcomed them in. We asked to speak to a manger she said one wasn’t there. When we left we had called to see what time they closed they said 9pm. This is ridiculous African Americans are still being discriminated against and judge. We came to celebrate my son birthday because he like Mexican food. Update your times so this won’t happen to another African American couple.

First time eating here. Had cheese enchiladas. They were mediocre at best. We had a large group so service was not great. They did a decent job for our group size though.

Best chips and salsa that I’ve ever eaten. Service was good, beer cold and food excellent. Definitely recommend.

The fried chicken wings were so good sheesh…. This is my second time coming and it's always a nice atmosphere... Good customer service even when busy food was in here in a timely matter I love the Migos they treat you better than your people

Truly awful. Their “nachos” are chips with melted shredded cheese on them. Seriously. It’s not queso, it’s like if you went and bought Kirkland’s Best shredded mozzarella and melted it over chips. Waiter was completely in engaging and uninterested in us. Hardly said a word to us any any point in time. Had to ask multiple times for waters. The guacamole was the consistency of soup, and my friends’ margarita pitcher had almost no tequila in it. Multiple people who cannot stand tequila tried it and said there was no taste of tequila in it. I was one of them. It wasn’t a margarita pitcher, it was a glorified juice box. And to top it off, splitting a beer pitcher between me and someone else came to 8 a person. 16 bucks for a beer pitcher…

I could go to Walmart and make a better experience than I had here. One star is one more star than it deserves

I have been coming to Jalapeños for about 9 years now when I visit Montgomery for work. It has become routine for me to get a chicken chimichanga (delicious) and a medium (huge) beer. Prices are great and I have always had good service. Love this place and I will continue to come back each time I am in town!!

Easily some of the worst Mexican food I've ever had! Tasted like UNCOOKED canned chicken meat was used for the chicken nachos. They tasted horrible, plus the meat was unseasoned like they literally just opened the can and dumped the meat on top of the nacho chips and added cheese... YUCK! And to think I waited a full hour for them smfh.

This place has horrible customer service. Upon entering we waited to be seated at the bar, when seated, we were ignored for about 10 minutes before the Mexican guy with the tattoos all over his chest waited on us.he fixed his drink first , started to drink it and walked away then came back to wait on us. He was so rude. I ordered two enchiladas, and they were not good. I will NOT be coming back here again.

Ok...so, being from California and craving GOOD Mexican food, we decided to try this place. Yea!! Finally!! Decent street tacos. Place was clean, nice atmosphere and the service was fantastic!! We will be back.

Great location. We like going here before the baseball games which is just around the corner. Service is always great, beer is cold, ambience is cool and never had a bad meal.

The worst beef taco in the world tasted like alpo dog food. The margarita are delicious and the service is speedy and it's cold but fast service. I can't stand $5 little tub of cold queso like it been sitting out. No wings at all so it was expensive he took a tip before I gave a tip which is wrong.

Ate here last week and the food was good, but I’ll be honest, I was just there for a marg. And it was delicious! I had peach on the rocks. It was quiet and calm at the time which was very nice.

The price wasn’t really worth it. I ate here for the first time since I was traveling and I wouldn’t really come here again. I had the tacos asados and they were bland. The agua frescas weren’t really authentic, they tasted artificial.
