Tipico De Mexico

We arrived there about 5pm and the lot was empty. We were a bit skeptical with seeing that! As we entered the place, it was quiet and chill. No hostess so, we waited a few minutes to be seated. We decided to sit outside. Very nice environment. I would say be mindful of the drink you get. There is a sign that says, “no returns or exchanges.” We asked for a strawberry margarita but our waiter brought us a frozen one. We didn’t say frozen. It was very sweet and didn’t taste like any alcohol was in it. That was a bummer! The food was okay, just not as hot. Once we received our food, the waiter didn’t come check on us for a while and we needed more water. Also, we had to go inside to get our own napkins.

Disclaimer, I live in Southern California so my expectations for Mexican food are very high. Tipico does not meet them or come close. I lived in Montgomery and Birmingham for many years and there is good mexican food there but this isn't it. I would look elsewhere if you want anything more than chips/salsa and/or margaritas. Those were both adequate.

Each time I come it's great. Most recently I ate lunch, ordered the "Speedy Gonzales". Around $7 and lives up the the name. It was fast and hot and the chips and salsa were excellent. Outdoor seating is great in fall.

I ordered 2 beef taco salads and a burrito Supreme. I only live 5 minutes away and it was soggy and wet before I got home. It seemed as if they didn't drain the meat or the tomatoes...the first and last 30$ I'll ever waste there again. The food was horrible..my husband said it was great for his compost though. I would not recommend this place to anyone!

Food was not very good, Chile relleno was just a pile of beef with a sliver of chile on it and a mountain of cheddar cheese. Enchiladas were underseasoned sauce and all. And I'm pretty sure my 20 oz margarita had no tequila whatsoever. Atmosphere and staff were nice however the drinks and food are not to my liking.

These people have the best food. It's quickly becoming my favorite little eatery. The food, omg!!! I highly suggest these two dishes. It's a lot of food but so worth it. The plate is called a Parredillq and the bowl is called a Molcajeta bowl. Sooooo good... I highly recommend them both. The staff is nice and friendly. Five stars all the way across the board. ❤️

When we told them that we had 12 they made a face like it was a big deal. It took them like 30 seconds to get our table together so not a big deal. They brought out only three salsa bowls for twelve people. When we finished one and asked them to bring us one more the waiter kind of made a face. Then he didn’t bring it and we had to ask again when our food came. My sisters and I got burritos and we all very specifically asked for NO RED SAUCE. Well he brought our burritos and only one out of three had no red sauce. One of my sisters felt bad and just took the red sauce burrito but I politely told them that I had asked for no red sauce. Both of the waiters made very rude faces and acted like they were mad. When they brought me the new burrito out it was severely burnt. The cheese was dry and the tortilla was hard. The chicken was not seasoned at all and I think they just got it out of a can. The worst part out of all of it was our drinks. We all got water and agreed that it tasted like they got it out of a fish tank. It must have came from a very dirty tap. Won’t eat here again.

This is an excellent Mexican restaurant, with excellent service. The enchiladas supreme were delicious, and my margarita was superb. There is an outstanding ambiance here with soft lighting.

I’d been eyeing this place for a while and finally decided to stop by. I loved it. The atmosphere was nice, the place was clean and the food/drinks were good. So far, I thinks it’s the best Mexican restaurant I’ve been to in Montgomery.

Just walked out. Chips tasted like old grease and there was mold in my ice. Wasn’t gonna wait to get sick behind the food.

We have eaten here as long as they have been open. Our favorite waiter is an older gentleman, very fit, and loves families. We (including our teenagers) typically get the street tacos (steak, cilantro and onions)and I can say that after eating there for many years, we trust this place and their food. They have many other options, but we tend to stick with our favorite.

I did not liked the food and service in my first “2” visit. but my friends say they love this place. Though I won’t be going again.

4 Star bcz first time when we went, they took off the charge for the order that came very very late right when we were about to leave and gave us in TO GO box, though we refused.

2nd time, we asked for Hot sauce on top of Burrito and that was super super hot. We couldn’t eat more than a few bites. We did not complained but our disappointment was identified by one of their employee and she took off the charge.

I could have given 5 star for their kindness of taking off charges of uneaten food but our server “the old man” he failed in hiding his furious face and seemed arrogant rude with negative attitude.

My only knock on the service is I couldn't get any one to pick up phone to place a to go order ...I drove in person a 20mi drive and placed it and waited.... My fajitas could not have been any better!! I had the steak, shrimp and chicken all the meats were great and the veggies etc.... Really outstanding for the Fajitas Texarcana!!

No one told me! I just stumbled over here while shopping at dollar store. I know I’ve been to every Mexican restaurant in Montgomery. The rice is perfect- beans perfect- I had stuffed poblano pepper and it was great as well- NO GREASE anywhere on this plate or in the food. Tortillas crisp and thin … waiting for sopapillos as I write . The best! I am a rice snob and they never have good rice - this is grand!

We only make it to Montgomery a couple times a year but we always eat here. It's consistent in flavor and quality and the service is always good.

I really enjoyed going here..you are seated quickly.. and service is fast and good..the drinks were just right and my steak was so tender and seasoned the way that I would if I had cooked it myself.

I want to like this place. I really do, but it's hard to. The service is friendly and quick, but the food is average, and they constantly get my order wrong. I order a meal that comes with beans and rice. I ask for no rice, just beans, and I will get a meal with just rice. Or I order fish tacos and get shrimp tacos. This has happened more than once. Frustrating! Try it though. You may have different results.

My wife had a hankering for Mexican food on Cinco de Mayo of all days. Knowing every Mexican restaurant would more than likely be backed up and it was around 7:30 pm. This was our second choice as our usual place had an hour and a half wait time. We got there everybody else was having the same issues but Tipico was well equipped for the influx of customers. We still had a wait time but it wasn't an hour might have been 30 minutes. The food was great , fresh ingredients, presentation clean not sloppy. Long story short we've been won over and Tipico has made us be repeat customers.

My favorite spot Los Cabos shut down
Heard about Tipico De Mexico and went the same day. DELICIOUS! Had a chicken breast meal. Lightly fried and came with 2 breasts. It was fried to perfection. Going back to try other goodies like the moonshine margaritas!! 🍹

A little slice of a border town here in Alabama. We loved our waiter, he made us feel welcome and took great care of us. Choriqueso is a must, you might even need two orders.

Food was fresh but wasn't seasoned. The peach margarita has absolutely No flavor! The service was mediocre. The waiter was confused about what our orders consisted of; therefore, several trips were made, causing the food to cool!! Fajitas without tortillas, sides, or the fixings!! Nice ambience though.

I ordered 'regular' margarita and staff gave me 'medium' one. I thought it's too big so I asked him is that correct one. He said 'regular' is 'medium' so correct. so I asked him bring the menu for double check. Finally he realize that was wrong one but he never asked us that is okay and just charge 'medium' price. Even I object to that, He kept said because we drunk we should pay, even i couldn't drink half of that.

We had an AMAZING time dine-in here. The food was GREAT and huge portions! Very Clean establishment. Their hospitality is defiantly a 10! Especially Lucero! She was so nice we loved talking to her. Thank you all for a wonderful experience!

Drinks were good that’s the only reason why they get a star food was horrible. Nachos plain only dried up cheese and shrimp. The hot wi gs were disgusting! I the waiter was rude and demanded we pay for the wings that we did not eat !!!! Never will come back again !

If you eat here the menu says one price and you are charged more for Togo. First of All you should let the customer know. Others in our party were over charged for the Margaritas! Pay Attention to the bill so you can see for yourself!

Very good food, very clean. The staff was nice. Husband had the burrito Loco and loved it. The cheese dip comes with or without jalapeños and I like that they had pieces of jalapeño in it not just green specs.

Ok I went to the restaurant and ordered two tacos but I didn’t have chips and salsa. So I asked it doesn’t come with chips and salsa. The guy said no unless you order a meal. I thought tacos was a meal. I will not be going back and I should have asked for a refund.

If I could rate this zero stars I would. Waited for 10 minutes just for the hostess to say she was too stressed to seat anyone else and needed at least 20 minutes for her to calm down. Empty tables and booths all throughout the restaurant.

Excellent fresh food & service! Came here with my sister and mom for lunch to try it out...we all fell in love. Brought my daughter here on a lunch date a week later. We will definitely be continual customers. Best Mexican thus far

They just got new furniture inside their restaurant. The new booths were very comfortable. There is both inside and outside dining available. The customer service is excellent and the good is great.
