Disappointed with the service after talking in depth of my gluten Allergy (celiac) the waitress assured me most things could be made gluten free with little to no crosscontamination.

Outcome she still served me flour tortillas and the rice that she already made a point of saying was NOT gluten free.

Two bites in i had to ask if the tortillas were the corn they dont tast right. When brought up she just walked away and sent a manager over to speak for her. Who just said " sorry but hindsight there's nothing we could have done. " I'll take it off the bill.

I corrected her and said alot could have been done including Number 1 simply checking the dish and the allergy alert b4 leaving the kitchen.

They never replaced the tortillas and ignored the table for the rest of the stay which only made things worse.

Thank God for the lovely conversation of my companions to not entirely ruin the afternoon as I went to puke repeatedly in the washroom from being poisoned without care by my server. Thanks πŸ’”

I am a native New Mexican. It is hard for me to find decent Mexican food in Alabama. La Paz has become a complete non-starter. During Covid, we very much appreciated their outdoor tables and visited often. But the quality of the food has slid downhill. Far, far, downhill.
The staff has been hit (mostly) or miss with our most recent server a complete miss. I ordered a Combination plate with a relleno and a tamale. I said "relleno" several times. The server was completely confused. I opened the menu and then pointed to the relleno. "Ah! Rell-lenno," the server corrected me. It was then that i got that sinking feeling about the quality of our dinner for the night. Practice with me, r*e*l*l*e*n*o. (Ree-ay-no)
The tamales and rellenos have progressively gotten smaller over the years. Last night's tamales were stuffed with sour, canned, green chiles and were entirely tasteless. The relleno was as small as the tamale. You have to really work to find anaheim peppers that small. Gone are the Hatch green chiles. The relleno came with as many seeds as green chile flesh. (Hint to the chef.... you have to remove the seeds..... or is there a real chef at this restaurant? ) The green chile had zero heat, zero flavor, and was slathered in a nasty, cheap "cheddar" cheese instead of green chile sauce. If you request green chile sauce, you are ignored. I know. I have tried for a decade. The rice was completely tasteless. My entire meal was a waste of money. I hate that. I used to be able to buy somewhat good tasting food there. (Though I never got that green chile side.)

Been eating at La Paz since they opened. It gets worse every time. Waited 20+ minutes to get a beer, at 5:20 p.m. place was empty, waited 25 minutes to get food and it tasted like canned Dog food. Queso dip was so over spiced (I like hot) it was horrible. Waitress was very nice and incessantly apologetic. Almost went -0- tip because it is the last time I spend $185. on dinner for 4 adults & two children and have inedible food. Truly bad !! Only saving grace , I will never go back !!!!

!!!!!!! RUDE MANAGER !!!!!!
My daughters food was terrible and she only took one bite, when my wife asked a manger if we could change the meal for something else, he told us there was nothing he could do AND we still had to pay for it !!
The intent was not to get a free meal, I just wanted my daughter to enjoy her meal.
I’ve never experienced anything like this at a restaurant!!!!
I’m very disappointed in the way this was handled.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!RUDE AND DISMISSIVE !!!!!!!!!!
I usually enjoy this restaurant. My wife and I have been patrons for 14yrs. But today’s experience was extremely lackluster. I am mostly disappointed in the manager . The culture is changing .

Finally, walked around to the bar and saw three employees behind the bar watching college football on the tv. Asked one of the guys behind the bar if I was supposed to seat myself and he rolled his eyes and barked β€œgive us a minute.” Sorry Buddyβ€”you already wasted 20 minutes of MY TIME waiting for someone to do their job. One and done. Won’t be back for the food or the drinks. Most of our party of 5 got the combo plate. It’s on the dinner side of the menu but it’s available any time of day. The rice was so so and the enchiladas were kind of bad. The taco was decent but it should be right. Our margaritas were okay. Not the best by far. Even for Tex-mex, this was a drag and waste of money. Who is cooking??? This restaurant is all for show. Maybe the other locations are much better. The best thing we ate was the chips, salsa, and queso. Go figure.

It was my first time eating there and I really enjoyed it. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was pleasant. Uber eats delivered cold food from here and would not make it right. Neither would the restaurant. Regardless of who delivered the food, the restaurant offered it for sale through Uber eats and should stand by it. Kelly, the manager seems to not understand that.

She admitted that often Uber eats has multiple orders to deliver and people get their food cold. If that’s the case, they should not offer delivery through Uber eats. Regardless of how you put it, they are offering delivery through Uber eats if I can order food from their restaurant via Uber eats. They even recommend you order delivery via Uber eats on their outgoing voicemail.

The restaurant gets paid whether or not the food is edible.

My order was not edible. It was thrown in the trash so we did not get sick.

Where to begin, I ordered for the first time on Cinco de Mayo for my husband's birthday which is the same day. Yes that's not relevant but I ordered the taco and fajitas bar for 8 people and added on 3 quesadillas. At 1st glance I'm thinking this is not enough food but when got to eating it was MORE than enough and we had leftovers for the next day. The guacamole was fresh and delicious, the queso was also great. All you have to do is serve the food because they give you everything you need from the food to plates and napkins. I will definitely use them again for any size catering order.
