Dos Amigos Mexican Grill

I told my friend I wanted Mexican for dinner and she took me here. And I am so happy she did, the service was great, the food amazing. I have eaten at a few Mexican restaurants in Tuscaloosa and Northport and in my opinion, Dos Amigos has been the best, from the chips to the margaritas to my fajitas.

I would give 0 stars if I could! Female waiter got my order wrong and instead of saying sorry let me get that corrected, she walked away from our table and never came back!! I had to go ask for the manager who wasn't in and still nothing was taken care of by anyone in that restaurant! We had to finally flag her down and make her take my food back and remove it from our ticket after she looked over at us several times and saw my plate untouched sitting on the edge of the table! I get we all have bad days but I would never treat someone like this! I worked in a Mexican restaurant myself and I always made sure my customers were well taken care of! Poor customer service including the girls up front smiling and giggling about it! Do better Dos Amigos 😡

I ordered food from Postmates. The order was to be ready at 1130 am. I arrived 10 mins early. The male host says he has no idea what I’m talking about. He called one older male waiter who checked my online receipt and says that receipt is not this store. I showed him my receipt and the menu with same address. He fumbled over himself after he felt like a complete idiot. Food was not ready. Ordered 2 shrimp cocktail that I told them no peppers. Guess what it was very spicy and tastes bad. Had nose surgery so that bite of that cocktail took my nose on a ride. Bad ride. Do not recommend this place. Complete idiots! Had to throw away the shrimp cocktails, 30 dollars down the drain. Very disappointed with the food and service. And yes

We ordered a California Burrito that had beef, shrimp and chicken in it. It was huge and fed me and my husband both! Delicious!! I would highly recommend this restaurant and don’t know why it doesn’t have a 5 star rating. It was really that good!

Does Amigos is the best Mexican restaurant in Tuscaloosa hands down! The food and atmosphere are great!
The margaritas are the best too! My wife and our friends go there weekly to catch up on the happenings. We love it!

I’d give 5 stars, but it never fails. If I ask to sit at the bar, not a table/booth near the bar, the hostess give me attitude. Dos Amigos has become a tradition almost every Sunday. Andrea is our favorite waitress and always on top of things. The food is great and usually fast to come out. Every time we have gone, there hasn't been a wait.

Had the California burrito. Good flavor and a much larger portion than imagined I would get. Nice decor, friendly and attentive staff. My only 'complaint ' would be the hot sauce wasn't quite hot enough for me.

Ordered the make your combination x3, the lady who took my order was confused and asked me to repeat it so I did, and she repeated it back correct. Got there and paid and went home. Got home and 2/3 combinations was wrong. I called and told them I live outside the area and if I could get a refund. They told me since 2 were right I could come back and the get the missing items that I couldn’t get a refund. I’m sorry but there’s no excuse for me to have to go back out and get my order when she verified it was taken correctly. If I ask for a refund I should receive one.

I really hate leaving this review because this has been our go to place since they opened. My to-go order was incorrect, but similar so I ate it any way. No issue until I bit into a rock? Like an actual black pebble. Why are there rocks in the kitchen and why did it end up inside a steak and cheese quesadilla? I saved it and will gladly bring it in.

Excellent food, great service, good atmosphere! I had item #59 which had diced steak, onions, jalapenos and seasoning. It comes with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, guacamole, refried beans, rice and tortilla shells. It's an awesome flavor combination with the kick of jalapenos. Only suggestion I have is add a dollop of sour cream. Domestic beer was $2.50, which is a bargain!

Mexican Alambre is very good! I have the steak and chicken combination. Served sizziling on a cast iron plate with tortillas on the side, but I prefer it with: fresh chips, green salsa and a splash of lime. This dish is flavorful due in part to the chorizo and cheese. I call it "souped up" fajitas. Add in a large Modelo Especial from the tap and it makes for a satisfying meal.
We eat from here on a regular basis. Wait staff are friendly and prompt with orders.

Best Mexican restaurant I have been too. The cheese dip is amazing and I have yet to have a dish I did not like. The servers are very quick and polite. The only downside I have about it is...there isn't one closer to my house in McCalla. ❤ We eat here every time we come to Tuscaloosa.

I’m actually sitting at my table in the restaurant with plenty of free time to write this review because our waiter is MIA. This place is closest to our house and super convenient for when we also need to drop in Publix but that’s the only positive thing I can say about it. The food is always missing a certain flavor element but the main annoyance is the service is absolutely horrible. There are usually tons of employees in the building but there is absolutely NO sense of welcome or quality service. Today marks our 6th and final time to try this place. Jalapeño’s and Frida’s are WAY too close for this place to survive with such horrible service and unimpressive food. This may just be the first Mexican restaurant (at least since the ole La Fiesta poo fiasco) to go out of business in Tuscaloosa. !!Viva Jalapeños!!

This is probably our 5th visit to Dos Amigos in Northport, AL. I can't comment on many dishes, since all I ever getnis fresh hot chips, queso dip, sweet tea and Chicken Fajitas. For two! They're that good. I eat as much as I can and take the rest home for tomorrow's dinner.

The servers are all very friendly, and for the most part they seem to have been eating Mexican food since they were born... Servixe is fast, food ia hot and servings are big. The dining areas have all been clean, as is the men's room.. I think there's a bar area,, not sure,, just haven't been over there..

My wife has tried the Chimichanga, Burrito, and their Quesadilla. She loved them all. Nothing but good stuff here so far.

Dos Amigos is my new favorite restaurant in the Tuacaloosa area. Five Guys is a close second, but neck and neck wit Hoo's Q.

Worst place I’ve ever experienced in the Tuscaloosa area. Not only did they not bring my appetizer but they didn’t have the food to make my meal. Then told me they had to go to PUBLIX to get the stuff. 10 mins later they came to table and told me that Publix didn’t have pineapples to make my dish. I told him I didn’t want anything else so they charged me $7.70 for 2 teas. It took the manager to get it fixed but the waiter told him we cancelled the appetizer which we didn’t. He plainly forgot. Along with my empty cup that sat at then end of the table for 25 minutes. Come on now. $7.70 for sweet teas. I won’t ever come back nor will I tell anyone to spend their money there. Better just pass it up and head to Jalapeños to get real service.

They had trouble with my debit card getting approved it wasn't being declined just taking longer than usual on approval, after 3 attempts I selected another card and it was accepted immediately, the next day I discovered that I had been charged 4 times for the same dinner. As of right now my overcharged money hasn't been returned to my account and it's a question of when it will be.

After trying Dos Amigos once, it quickly turned into our Sunday evening tradition. The jalapeno margaritas are great. All the food is so tasty. Ask for Hector! He's the sweetest and our favorite server :)

I honestly wish there was an option to mark it as 0. We just left there and talk about a HORRIBLE experience. First off it took us 10 minutes to even be asked our drink order. I had to go up to the hostess stand and ask to have our server come take our order after 15 minutes after we received our drinks. The cheese dip was cold and disgusting. We didn’t even finish our margarita pitcher and still was charged $25. I think the worst part is the staff didn’t care. There was no “is there something we can do” they just had the most dismissive attitudes.

If the restaurant had been busy, or short staffed, I could understand. But when you have 6 people, 4 of which are clearly servers, come out of the back just joking around and not paying attention to their tables and people at the hostess stand eating, I can’t excuse their behavior. And before I am criticized for my opinion, I was a server for 4 years and my husband a chef, so yes, we do know how a restaurant should operate.

Literally just ordered from here because we actually heard good things about this restaurant. I’m convinced that our to-go order was just thrown together with whatever they had left in the kitchen. There was no queso in the queso dip! Just hot meat & pico in bowl! My husband ordered the rice bowl called the Dana Bowl… no RICE or queso to be found. Everything was SO bland! I’m glad that we ordered our food to-go because we had to add our own cheese, spices, and seasonings to our food. We were very disappointed.

This place just opened and I always hesitate going to a new place to soon. But … we were seated immediately, the Margherita’s were great, food was fast and very good and our server, Xiomara, was over the top attentive. I personally work with many restaurants and tend to be somewhat critical but this restaurant did an amazing job and we will return!
