$25 for two small bags of chips and two small containers of salsa. I know that I will not be going here again. We could have eaten a whole meal there for less than what we just paid for this.

The food was terrible. The rice was so salty it was nasty. The fajitas had no taste at all. When I said something the night manager came over to argue with me. Then I was told how rude I was to say that the food was awful. It'd be different if I ate the food, but it was so bad I couldn't handle a second bite.

I ordered loaded Nachos and extra cheese dip on the side. The cheese dip and the nachos were bland. I also ordered a margarita that had no sweetness to the taste. I was seated in a booth that had a plug in right above the table so that’s all I could taste or smell. Needless to say I won’t be back.

There was a bug in our drink. Felt super awkward letting the host know and they seemed to not understand how disgusting that was. They offered to make another one but why would I want another drink if theres bugs in the ice or cups or wherever it came from. We paid for what we had ate/drank before that point and wont eat/drink here again.

The food was good but our server was awful. She only came to get our order, drop our order off, and came when we thought we were done but we had been waiting for 20 plus minutes for a refill on our drinks and to order our dessert. The fastest she came was when she saw us put our money out to pay. At first I was thinking that she was busy or something but on our way out I saw her just sitting at the bar talking with coworkers. My mom said she was doing that the whole time we were there. It’s disappointing that the good food was ruined by the terrible service. Also, the bathrooms are absolutely disgusting and the amount of flies flying around were appalling.

Me and a couple of friends decided that it would be a good idea to have tacos on this beautiful Tuesday, but Viva La Vida had other plans. We were deserted by our server and honestly felt as if spending money at this establishment was a nuisance to the staff. We never got out tacos and our service was well Belo sub par, we didn't get an apology or any well wishes as we left the restaurant....hungry! I have frequented this restaurant since they opened but wouldn't dare bring another red cent to a place where I am not served, not with a smile, not with an attitude, simply not served!!! Ridiculous!!! Btw we were there over 2 hrs.

Best Mexican food I've had down here in Auburn/Opelika. Street tacos were everything they should be: meat, onion, cilantro, and corn tortillas, top with your salsa of choice. Steak, pork carnitas, and pastor meat were excellent. Asked for spicier salsa and waiter brought us their habanero which was hot and tasty. Restaurant is spacious with lots of indoor and outdoor seating with good vibes. Highly recommend.

We drove 2 hours from Atlanta to try this restaurant because it went viral on facebook. The bathrooms were disgusting, the service sucked, the drinks had no alcohol in them at all, and the food was overcooked. I spoke with the manager/owner just to give him a personal review. He offered to remake food but I declined and he stated well what do you want??? My boyfriend got up and tried to walk to the car but the owner and waiter chased him and called the police saying we refused to pay… there were 3 other people in our party and the owner assumed no one was paying because one person walked away from him. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!!

We have been eating here for a while now and tonight was terrible. The time before tonight was bad as well. The chicken for the chimichanga wasn’t shredded it was the cut chicken and it was soaking wet. Cheese not melted in quesadilla, melted cheese over top of the beans on one plate but the regular cheese on the other two. Asked for no salad or lettuce or sourcream, still got it. And the carna was all lime. And our waitor said he didn’t know why the kitchen made it like that when we asked why it was done differently than everytime we have been. It has been so good before but I dont know what they have going on now.

Used to be one of my favorite places to eat. They got you in the door with drink specials but now their drinks contain .5 oz of alcohol. Who wants to pay that kind of money for a margarita with 1/2 ounce of tequila?? I have been here multiple times and couldn’t get waited on. The service used to be awesome but the best waiters went to the store in tiger town. I was there today and waited 25 minutes for a waiter. They were all hanging around the bar area. I got up and left. This is the second time this has happened to me. I’m done with them. Too many other choices to pick from to go somewhere you can’t even get waited on.

I ordered cheese dip, a lime margarita and fajita. The cheese dip was cold, there was red lipstick on my margarita glass. When I pointed it out to the waiter he held the glass in front of him staring at it as if I was being untruthful. After he saw the lipstick he started scratching it off with his fingers. Finally he went to pour the same margarita into another glass! Lastly the fajita plate wasn’t sizzling, the fajita wasn’t flavorful at all, the tortillas were overheated so they were hard to chew and the guacamole wasn’t fresh. Total waste of time and money!

My husband and I took our children here for dinner a few weeks ago. We waited a long time to order and receive our food. When our food finally did come out, only 3 of the 4 orders was placed on the table. I had to wait an extra 10 minutes to receive mine, which at that point, the rest of my family was almost done with their meals. My margarita had WAY too much sour mix in it. Our waitress was not attentive and never checked up on us. The servers around us had way more personality and engaged with their customers while ours was nowhere to be found. Will not be returning.

This was one of the worst experiences we had a restaurant. The waiter was extremely rude the entire time, but what was baffling was the bill. The prices charged did not match the menu and we were charged a $3.99 “no cash fee”, which we weren’t aware of until our card was ran. We will never go back.

Review №82

My first time eating here, but it's my son's favorite Mexican restaurant to eat at. It's a nice atmosphere inside, so I will come back later to dine in. However, there's a language barrier here no one hardly speaks English well here and that's a problem for me. In my honest opinion, someone should at least be bilingual if you are going to have an establishment where people predominantly speak English! 🙄 On a positive note, my food was delicious. I ordered the nachos supreme with everything. They have a seating area outside as well. It's located in the heart of downtown Opelika. So, if you're ever in the Opelika/Auburn area, you should give it a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

From out of town and wanted some authentic Mexican food and was referred to this establishment. Food was not authentic. I ordered street tacos wasn’t satisfied after 2 to three bites. Exchanged for another entree. Was charged for the 1st entree. I inquired about the charge. The waiter went to ask the owner about the charge. The owner did authorize the transaction but the waiter stated the reason they charge for the former entree is ppl sometimes come in and taste test the food and try to eat free. My question is what did that have to do with me and or my order?

At Viva La Vida Mexican Cuisine in Opelika, the rice dishes featuring shrimp, beef, and chicken are a triumph of diverse flavors. The succulent shrimp brings a delightful oceanic essence, while the seasoned beef and tender chicken add depth and variety to the dish. Each protein, accompanied by the fluffy rice, harmonizes beautifully with the array of spices and vegetables, creating a symphony of taste and texture that's truly irresistible.

Food was okay. The steak in the steak fajitas was tough and bland. The onions, peppers, mushroom and squash were good with the fajitas. Sat on the patio and everything took a long time. For a table of 5 we got one small dish of salsa which didn’t last long. We asked for another set of chips and salsa for the table to share and only received salsa, so the chips ran out. By the time the food came we asked for more salsa and they said the truck didn’t come and they were out of salsa. After we waited 20 minutes for the check, I noticed everyone inside had salsa.

The ladies bathrooms were too dirty for the ladies to use. The men’s bathroom floors were pretty dirty as well. I would hate to see the condition of the kitchen.

The space is adorable and I was excited to try this location. Unfortunately, there is a claw machine outside that plays music on repeat so loud it should be considered torture. And no, they will not turn the machine off.

There is plenty to choose from on the menu and everyone was able to get something they wanted. The food came out at various intervals without any apparent reason (they were not busy). The service was slow and my drink order was incorrect.

We will probably not return to this location.

Dirty tables, food on the floor, dinning space in general disarray. The overwhelming smell of fabuloso doesn't hide trash and dirt on things.
Should say something when light fixtures are broken and leaning at the front door, old decorations from parties past left hanging...
