2 Pesos Cantina

A friend and I stopped on our way home for dinner. Atmosphere was great and they were able to get us seated and served with chips and salsa quickly. The salsa was on the weak side. Not bad but could have used more seasoning and a little more heat. The meals were delicious and served very timely. Overall a pleasant experience!

They have now started changing a supplemental fee. I don’t get this at all. And may no go back. Restaurants are convincing me more everyday to cook at home.

Food was horrible. Drinks taste terrible. I was with a party of 9 people. My 32oz strawberry margarita taste like syrup, absolutely no alcohol was in the drink. I took 2 sips and told the waitress how horrible it was and gave it back to her. She then told me she is not able to remove the drink from my $80 bill. The manager also came over and asked how the meal was. I then informed her about the terrible drink. She brought the same waitress over and accused me of lying about how much I drank from my drink. All 8 people with me were appalled that she lied and confirmed that my 32oz drink was full when she removed it from the table. The manager still refused to remove the drink from my $80 bill and told me the drinks are non refundable. Terrible experience and waste of money. Everyone with me had to season thier own food due to how terrible it was. I should've known an empty restaurant on a Saturday was a bad sign. I will never return. Do. Not. Eat. At. This. Establishment.

Even though we live close by, we never think about eating at 2 Pesos. We didn't want to drive to our normal Mexican restaurant, so we chose to dine outside at 2 Pesos. It was a bit early for the regular dinner crowd so we were seated promptly. Our drinks and dinner came quickly. Overall, we were satisfied except for the ground beef in the tacos. It had a strange taste. However, the quesadilla, tamale, and my grandson's grilled cheese was very good. The chips (very thin and crispy) and salsa were perfect. There are area Mexican restaurants that are better but there are many, many more that are far worse.

This place was soooo disgusting. Me and my family came here to eat and the service was horrible and the food didn’t have any taste at all. So I still was willing to give them a chance but once my food came out I thought it was going to be good and I assumed wrong I also ordered a Texas margarita and almost threw it up because it tasted like sewer water (by the way couldn’t get a refund at all because all drink sales are final) which I think it’s not fair when I’m paying my money for something to be at least tasty. I would not recommend this restaurant to any who loves Mexican like I do because you will be very disappointed.

Average food, not especially large portions though. The service was good; waiter was friendly. We were there right at the end of lunch hour and I was impressed with how clean things were. Nothing else stands out - just an average Mexican restaurant.

Me and my children dine in here the food was terrible. None of us finished our plates. The birria quesadilla was full of fatten the taco bowl meat tasted like cough medicine, the chicken tenders was gummy and as I was explaining this to the server she offered me more sprite I said no and she walked off as I was talking to her. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!

This has to be at the top of the list of my worst restaurant experiences. The food, service and atmosphere were just awful. My waitress took at least 15 minutes to come to our table, just to order drinks. By the time we did get our food, after waiting 20 minutes to order, it was half warm and tasted half done. I will never eat at this establishment again.

If I could leave negative stars I would..food was bland and had no seasoning on anything. Taste like it was fried in water. On top of that mixed drinks had no taste or feel of alcohol added(all sales are final) so if yu don't like a drink it can't be removed from your ticket .Go to taco bell for a better mexican american taste!

We ordered the shrimp fajitas and couldn't eat it the shrimp was so over cooked it honestly looked and the texture was like chicken it didn't even taste like shrimp and they didn't season it at all. One of the worst Mexican food places I've ever been too not to mention it was $50 for two orders of shrimp fajitas. I'm disappointed cause now I'm still hungry

We’ve frequented this restaurant for almost 20 years and it has gone steadily downhill. We went yesterday, Sunday, and I don’t know if it was the regular chef or not. I ordered a Guacamole Mexicana. I couldn’t eat it! It wasn’t fresh! It was literally slimy, contained no pico de gallo and minimal cilantro. They have also changed their chips to a thicker brand and I don’t care for them. My companion ordered a chicken, mushroom and cheese quesadilla and it was served literally two minutes after it was ordered! This was not a freshly cooked quesadilla! I miss the 2 Pesos of old and I hope they will read this and step it up to improve their food! Also, I can’t figure out what this new service charge that they add on to your bill is for???

My family and I love 2 Pesos. We have been coming here for over 7 yrs and our food has ALWAYS BEEN FANTASTIC. We have told all of our friends about them. When we r in the Birmingham area, we always come ant eat and enjoy ourselves.

Used to be good. Not so much now. My husband asked server very nicely for fresh chips when stale chips were brought out and was told in a dead pan manner that these were fresh chips. Pretty much down hill from there. Service not very good. Food sub par. Darn. Used to like it.

This was hands down the worst Mexican food we’ve ever eaten. My husband got carnitas and over half of the meat was a huge hunk of fat/skin. Our food was cold and the orders were wrong. We paid the $80 check and left without eating. Totally disappointed.

Enrique was an excellent server. We love going to 2 Pesos after our church services oftentimes. Great spot with great food. I had the steak fajitas this time, but I usually get the shredded chicken chimichanga with queso blanco and it's delicious.

The steak burrito and elotes were both pretty good. The elotes were a little heavy on the tajin. Standard Mexican restaurant salsa and chips.
The server was friendly and efficient, and the food arrived promptly.
The total check was a couple of dollars higher than I think it should have been, but it wasn't outrageous. I'll be back to try a couple of other items soon. Recommend for standard Mexican restaurant meal.

Was looking for a restaurant with good Mexican food & margaritas. This was not it. Food was mediocre. Top shelf Margaritas that were $9.00 were some of the worst I've ever had. Made with a mix that tasted like a chemical. Salsa was one step up from a bowl of tomatoes with some raw onion & Cilantro
Chips were too thick and tasteless. The chips on the nachos were much lighter and better.

I have to say this was the worst experience I've EVER had at a Mexican restaurant!! Our waiter, Francisco Javier Jimenez, was EXTREMELY rude!! He is an older gentleman so I'm sure his table side manner might have been related to his age and his limited English. But this man brought me the wrong drink not once but TWICE!! And his reaction was as if I was in the wrong. Due to the temperament of those dining with me, I let it go. But we were all astounded by his rudeness. I don't doubt that this restaurant has good food and great service, but I unfortunately didn't get to experience that. I say give it a try but steer clear from the grouchy old man!!! Ruined a meal for no reason!! There was nothing redeemable about my experience with this restaurant.

The glasses of water taste horrible! I hoped that they would have fixed this after told them this the last time I was here almost a year ago. Nothing has changed and it’s awful! Too bad - their steak tacos are pretty good but any restaurant with that poor of water quality and doesn’t do anything about it is a no go for me.

My mom and I came here for lunch, wanting to try a new Mexican food spot outside of the one in our hometown, so we stopped here. Off rip, we were barely greeted with not even a “hi” or “hello”, but simply “How many?”, which would’ve been mildly understandable if they were extremely busy, but they were not. Our waitress was extremely dismissive to us, barely spoke, and acted like she couldn’t be bothered. She never came back and checked on us, got us refills, or anything. We were so irritated at this point we considered up and leaving before we even actually order any food and just paying for the drinks and queso (which we had to ask for even though she offered it to other tables). But the real kicker was she made complete and genuine efforts for the table behind us, who weren’t black, including taking their order before us even though we were seated several minutes before them and getting their food out to them before us, which was lackluster. My mom’s food was was lazily plated, as if they just threw it on the plate and washed their hands of it. At this point, my mom and I were so over it, we just wanted to get the check and leave, but it took almost 10 minutes for anyone to come back and check on us so we could even get the check. I’m usually not the type to leave reviews, especially as I’ve worked in food service myself and know how stressful it can be, but this was just a display of carelessness, unprofessionalism, and blatantly discriminatory behavior. If you’re looking for good Mexican food and a nice experience, this is NOT the place.

I'm the only person of color here. Not once was i asked, if i needed anything else or how is everything. Yet, the white tables were catered to. I see a major problem with this. I don't plan on returning, nor should anyone of color. This is unless you don't mind the disrespect!! It's as if they truly believe that the whites sitting here would treat them better on the streets. I've added my guest ck for proof that i was here.

The food decent but not objectively good. The house margarita was the worst I've ever had. The service is really what made this an awful experience. I was never offered water, never checked on after food was dropped off and it took 20 minutes to find a waiter to finally get my check.

We decided to venture from out typical spots and try somewhere new. We were seated promptly, waitress brought drinks quickly, however our starters came at the same time as our entrees. My entrée was not as ordered, my husband ordered a ribeye and did not receive that cut of meat. The elote was less than stellar and had a strong vinegar smell that made my stomach turn. The waitress never checked in to see how things were and did nothing more than take our orders and drop food. Very lack lustre experience.
