My husband ate here the other day. He said the food was absolutely horrible. The meat had a strange taste even the nachos were not edible. He tried complaining to one of the workers she was nasty and didn't seem interested at all. He got up and just walked out.

A long time institution in Montgomery. I like this locations patio and bar. The drinks are great and they have some decent lunch specials. I think the food is ok and some items are better than others. Great chips and salsa. Wish they had more traditional options and things like agua frescas.

It has been a very long time since I have dined at Cucos. My friend and I ate lunch there today. I got the Gigante burrito and my friend had the lunch fajitas. We both enjoyed our meal. One thing I like about Cucos is they have very thin tortilla chips. I am very sensitive to spicy hot foods and I did not detect jalapeno pepper or any other source of heat. It was a pleasant lunch.
22 January 2024
I was on my way down Chantilly Drive going to Publix at Pike Road for a foot long sub sandwich on sale and as I approached Cuco's, I thought why not enjoy lunch there. I ordered the beef burrito lunch special and I was extremely pleased with the serving and the quality of the food. Once again, I very much like their thin tortilla chips. For $8.29 I thought it was a very good lunch. The people working there are very friendly, polite and courteous.

The food wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t impressive. It’s not something I would come back for. Salsa was bland and the enchiladas were liquidy. And the sweet tea was tolerable but had the weirdest aftertaste like it was lite. It was white hipster people mexican food.

We've tried most of the local mexican restaurants in Montgomery. This is our favorite. Starts with chips and salsa. Perfect flavor and chunkiness of the salsa. Chips are lite, not thick. White cheese dip a little runny at times but great flavor. I always get fajitas and they are always consistent. Plenty of food. Service - go there enough and you get to know some of the staff. Anyone is willing to help. Atmosphere is quiet for the most part, the outdoor-screened-in room can get loud if there is a party, but that contributes to the atmosphere!

Best Mexican food ever! Will drive 4-5 hours from Louisiana to eat here and make a day of it. Grew up eating Cuco’s in Slidell, and Hammond. Once those two locations closed I would drive all the way to Metairie and then Gretna. Sad to see the owners move away and close the locations in Louisiana but I understand wanting to move out of state completely. I dream about macho nachos and chimipoquitos. Ugh the sizzling steak fajitas, but most of all their amazing thin hot tortilla chips and delicious salsa. Planning a trip this December to bring my Australian boyfriend to try my favorite childhood-teen-adulthood Mexican restaurant and we are going to make a day or 2 out of it and stay in the area. I cannot wait to come eat and order about 8 orders of macho nachos to go for me & my mom to eat on the next week. She ate at Cuco’s in Slidell while she was pregnant with me, it was what she craved her whole pregnancy so I guess that’s where you can say my addiction started.😂 she spent her teen years hanging out and eating at Cuco’s every weekend as well. We miss you guys so so soooo much and wish you would come back. The amount of times I see pictures go around locally viral on Facebook of the Hammond Square Mall Cuco’s location and people reminiscing about Cuco’s and their times in the mall and how much they miss it. Had lifelong memories there I’ll never forget and lots and lots and of birthday parties with fried ice creams and the Big hat! Sooo many people miss Cuco’s in Louisiana, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to come back!😁Will work for Cuco’s Mexican!😂

We were shopping at the gun store in the same complex and it was close to dinner time so we decided to try this restaurant. It was our first time here. It was just before 5 pm so there weren't many people there yet, though it did fill up as the dinner hour progressed. The typical chips and salsa were placed on our table. Very generic. Salsa was bland. Chips light and crispy. We ordered the combo fajitas for two. It came with our own beans and rice. A separate plate of sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo, lettuce and cheese. I've never seen cheese served with fajitas. The meat tray had shrimp, pork, chicken and beef on a bed or grilled onions and peppers and it came sizzling because of the citrus squeezed over it. The tortillas were hot and fresh. The meats were really good. The beans and rice were fair. Nothing spectacular. The service was fast and friendly and the place was clean. Their bar was really cool. It was a lot of food and we walked away quite full and with a to-go box. All in all, not a bad experience. Still, fairly white guy Mexican food, but good.

It’s basically your typical Tex-Mex. The tortilla chips are probably the best part. They are the thin ones and go good with salsa and cheese dip. I had a cheese enchilada and it was good. My date had the chicken fajitas and she thought they were decent. Beer was cold and the margaritas are good.

This is the worst restaurant I have ever been to. Cheese dip was not edible. Had chunks of cheese that wasn't melted. Got the fajitas and there wasn't any bell peppers just old onions and old chicken. The tortillas were store bought and not even warmed. Salsa tasted like picante sauce. The rice was mushy and looked like rice a roni and the beans looked like they were canned. Taco bell tastes better than this place. We paid the 40 dollar bill and added a 10 dollar tip to the waitress cause it wasn't her fault but we didn't even take a bite of our dinner. If that's not enough to stop you from going, their health score is an 85.

We had a terrible experience here with our two small children. We drove out to Cuco’s in the middle of a rainstorm. We watched multiple tables order and receive their food before our order was taken. They brought my husband’s food and another 10 minutes went by without any other food being brought out, so we left $40 on the table and walked out. It was nearly 8:00 (we arrived at 7:00) and my kids were exhausted and hungry. We ended up getting dinner at McDonald’s. We will never go back.

The GM should be absolutely ashamed they allowed every table in this restaurant to be full with only one server. She was literally having a breakdown trying to keep up with everything. Our food was cold, took about an hour to come out... then it took 45 minutes to just get the tickets to PAY FOR IT, and the manager absolutely did not care about any of it. Go on a wait instead of making everyone miserable. I work at a restaurant and I get how bad it is right now to find help, but don't allow the people you have working for you to go through what this poor girl went through today.

Just had the worst experience ever and Chantilly Cuco's. If there was a lower score than 1, that's what I'd leave. Service was extremely slow and forgetful. Had to ask several times for the simplest things. Some in our party of 12 did not get there food after waiting for an hour to get it in the first place. If you can't serve your customers in a timely manner why are you even open. This was ridiculous. Felt sorry for the staff, sure they were trying there best, but when you're having to be reminded about things that have not been served yet, that's a bit much. Will be a very long time if ever I'll be back. Could've done better at Taco Bell

In my opinion it's like the McDonald's of Mexican. They do express well, time from ordering to being served is relatively quick. However the salsa is straight forward tomatoes, onion and salt, no cilantro or pepper variety that I could detect. The chips are light ( thin) and crispy. Pepsi products are featured so you can get a Mountain Dew. The sweet tea was a good strength and flavor, it might could've used a tad more sugar as I always take mine with lemon. The mini chimichangas were odd , not bad but just sorta bland. Served 2 or 4 to a dish with either rice or rice and beans, with the rice and bean dish being .50 more with the 2 entree version. Shredded mexican mixed cheese is melted/toasted over them and there is a yellow sauce on the interior chicken and a brown sauce on the plate, which basically makes the doughy tortilla easy to swallow. But again not much actual flavor is involved. My daughter ordered the fajita and best described that unpleasant experience of burning corn shell as a bad plan. There really should be a metal spatula beneath the corn tortilla shell that holds the rice so that it can forgo the strong burned smoke that leaves the rice unfit for consumption. There was meat and onions , a lemon portion , and a tomato wedge, but no peppers of any kind on the hot skillet in a small portion. The salad (lettuce, more diced tomatoes, and shredded Mexican cheese ) was served in a small ( think banana split sized dish) leaving no where to actually construct the fajita. The was a small portion of sour cream and another of guacamole in the smallest plastic to go containers( like may be used for seasoning or salt). There were no condiments on the table, but I did notice some other customers had acquired them . I did like the round microwavable tortilla shell holder verses the foil you might get elsewhere for the ease of getting the next one out. Our server didn't check on us once after serving the food and seemed as though my request for a to go drink was inconvenient. I won't be returning.
