El Tapatio Mexican Restaurant

We were seated immediately upon entering the restaurant and within seconds a bowl of chips and two bowls of salsa were dropped off at our table. We ordered cheese dip and it was delivered less than a minute later.
Our server returned quickly with our drink requests and took our food orders. Less than ten minutes after placing our orders our food was delivered. Our meals were hot and tasted fresh.
Though the dining area needs to be refurbished and updated, we were pleased with our visit overall.

Well established and local popular restaurant that serves a American/Mexican style food. Food was tasty, the service was prompt and professional and the venue had a earthy and cozy vibe. The restaurant consisted of a number of large and small rooms including numerous bars and dining areas. The bars are solid wood and the decor is rusty vintage. We have visited this restaurant twice and on both occasions the standard. For both food service and atmosphere was excellent.

A wonderful restaurant for great Mexican food. My daughter and I love Mexican food and try to find good places to eat when we are in the Gadsden area. This one is the best we have found so far. The food is great, the people are friendly, and the restaurant is very nice and clean. They don’t give you much salsa with your tortilla chips, but they will bring more if you ask.

Second time at this restaurant. I ordered the chili Colorado. It was by far the best I’ve ever eaten! Large portion of the best, tenderest steak. It was great. This is definitely my favorite Mexican restaurant.

I found the beef in my chimichanga dry and under seasoned, the beans and rice were good as well as the queso and chips. The service is impeccable, the servers are very attentive and kind. It's a very nice restaurant with good decor but the restrooms were small and not very clean.

I normally am NOT the type of person to write out a review for anything. Especially not a bad review. We drive from gadsden to rbc frequently to eat at this el tap and have never had much of an issue besides there never being enough queso on our food. Most of the time we eat in the parking lot but tonight we decided to take our food home. We get home and I found someone’s hair in my food literally the second bite im ab to take. I called and when the guy answered the phone he was immediately annoyed when i told him what was going on. He never apologized or offered any kind of refund instead he told me to bring the whole order back and he would remake it. Understandably though i told him i do not want it remade and want a refund. If i wasnt so pregnant and sick on top of that i definitely would have made the ride to get my money back. I completely understand accidents happen he was just a huge asshole about it and because of that we will go elsewhere with our money. Also we most definitely checked to make sure it wasnt our hair my man has curly curly hair and had zero contact with my food and my hair is black and like 20 something inches long.

The food was mediocre at best. The best thing we had were the chips. Which is sad really. The service wasn't so great. Not even good if I'm being honest. We were seated right at the entrance to the restrooms too, which is in the back corner of the restaurant. They weren't even that busy...

My family and I were excited to try this place because we love Mexican food. The staff and service were amazing, and the place looked really clean. The downside was the food itself. Out of the six dishes we ordered, only one of them was any good (my kid liked the Hawaiian nachos). We felt the portions were small, the food was under seasoned, and it was overall underwhelming. I would give 5 stars to the staff, and 2 stars to the food.

This is a review from a few weeks ago. Fernando was our waiter, he was very nice, but very slow. It was hard to get extra salsa and chips.
The food was good, but charging $1.50 for cilantro is ridiculous. The cilantro should be in the salsa already.

Very fast and good Mexican food. Great place to stop for a workday lunch while in Gadsden/Rainbow City, Al. The Verde salsa is fresh and spicy, it's a great option. Our lunch party was literally in and back out of the restaurant within 20 minutes.

The service was POOR, my food was so salty, it was like the meat was spoiled and they soaked it in salt to take the bad taste and smell out of it. Drink refills were not offered and we had to ask many times for service before someone came. I do not recommend this establishment.

Charged way to much for fajitas for 2 then charged me for tomatoes and limes and extra tortillas..the server was very rude and so was the owner starting getting loud with my husband and arguing with him ... They give u a little thing of salsa

Total mess!! The waitress was very misleading with our order. Basically dumped gallons of cheese on all our dishes when we did not ask for extra cheese And charged us for extra cheese. Then my daughter and I who eat tamales all the time, they bring out a so called " tamale" covered in cheese??? Who does that?? Well I guess it's because they want to cover the horrible tv frozen dinner taste with their cheese. They should respect the tamale better by just taking it off the menu.
Is it Eltaptito or Elconstipato??
Such and offensive meal.

Each time we visit we have the patacones. These plantains are so good and satisfying! Gotta eat while hot! Chips and salsa are typical American Mexican but the margaritas are very good. The place is always clean and friendly service.

I asked the waitress if their Chile Poblano was breaded or fried, and she said no. My Chicken Taco Salad was average at best, and when my Chile Poblano arrived, I cut into it, and I don't know if it was baked or fried, but it definitely had breading on it. Plus it had this red sauce on it that was gross, and very little cheese at all. I told the waitress it didn't taste good and I wasn't going to eat it, even though she had been rude to us the entire time. When we got the check, the Chile Poblano was still on there, so I took the Chile Poblano up to the check out counter and told them about it (very nicely) and he didn't have a very hospitable attitude either. He didn't give us our receipt back, so I don't even know if he deducted it off. This establishment gets great reviews, but out of the two times I've been there (last time we waited forever on our complementary chips and salsa, and were not waited on promptly during the duration of our visit) I can say it's highly unlikely to be my choice in the future.

The chips are very good and so is the margaritas. The only things that have flavor is the cheese and the fajita/grilled food. The ground beef is very bland. Nice place to eat chips and drink but not eat anything else.

Ordered chicken quesadilla. Only shredded chicken and cheese, when I got it I poured 1 1/2 cups of water out of the quesadilla. Horrible. 2nd Order was a mushroom quesadilla, it was literally a can of mushrooms and cheese. Nasty.
For the price it was one of the worst experiences we have had at a local restaurant. Sad.

Emily (the blonde waitress around 40-50 years old) is the most unpleasant human. It’s not just a bad day thing either. Every time I come in she is extremely rude. An embarrassment to the business. So unprofessional.

We recently moved here from Birmingham and I’ve eaten a lot of Mexican food at multiple locations! This is so far my favorite Mexican restaurant, even including Birmingham. They give you plenty of food and the prices are great. Also, highly recommend their margaritas they are the best! The staff is always so friendly, and the service is very fast whether you were eating lunch or dinner.

This is a favorite place for my family. I've never ordered anything that I didn't like. For appetizers, I love the patacones or cheese dip. The nachos are all good but the Hawaiian nachos are my favorite. The combo plate is a great way to try several things. I'd recommend a tamale, it's chicken and covered with cheese.

The ingredients are quality so anything you get is going to be good!

Seated immediately n greeted by our waitress. The view was spectacular n our booth was nestled next to the water.
I decided on the taco salad. My friend had the shrimp nachos. My taco salad was so ample I took half home. The quest dip was bland but paired well with the salad n chips. I’ll go back for sure to try the fajitas next time.

Consistently good location. Food is typical American Mexican fare, with the addition of quite a few house special dishes like mole and tamales, and enchiladas.

Service is quick and friendly.

Try the house hot sauce, fresh with onions and lime and chilis. It's actually pretty spicy.

I had mole, wife had a taco salad with no shell. We also shared the queso loco, which is queso with chorizo and some other stuff. All of it was excellent. Mole was chicken breast with prepared sauce, but it was nice to have it as an option, and it was good.

Prices, especially lunch menu, were very inexpensive.

Over all, excellent.
