Completely disappointed. My husband and I called ordered dinner, only to bring home take home box with 3 separate meals. No rice ,no bean and this was $30!!! I have been to a lot of Mexican restaurants and never have I ever been left still feeling extremely hungry for the price we paid.

We have been going to The Shack for over 27 years. I have never been disappointed in my meal. Their bbq is wonderful as are their burgers. The portions are ample and reasonably priced.

Picked up Togo from here. Thought the place was nice, smelled good. The bill was $40 for two combo plates and a cheese dip... Too high but I thought we would try it anyway. Got it home, and it was literally not edible. We eat Mexican food everywhere and love it. This was disgusting. Burnt chips, salsa tasted old and like they used basil instead of cilantro, but the WORST was that the meat and red sauce was so salty it was LITERALLY impossible to swallow (and I love salty food). I don't like to leave bad reviews but this is crazy. Never has my cheap self thrown away $40 of food. We would have fixed it and eaten it had it been fixable. This is amazing that the other customers there tonight had kept eating when they got their food.

I ordered a chile relleno dinner last night for takeout.I'm not sure what it was, but the peppers had a sour taste.I through it in the trash.I won't be going back.

Not sure about it and besides watch out if you order a kids burger, it's not your typical burger. Like a steak patty it was grounded beef .... A little bit disappointed 😔

I came here a few days ago and ordered the queso flameado and the jamaica. The flameado was really delicious, I don't recommend taking it out so be sure your appetite is big enough to eat it all. That wasn't the case for me so I can say that it tastes very weird to eat later on. The jamaica I found out is a hibiscus tea. It is a good kind of bitter, but I don't recommend it if you don't like dark chocolate, because there was definitely not much sugar, if any.

We went to this restaurant last night and it was the first Mexican restaurant we tried since we’ve moved to Talladega. It was amazing we asked for fajita butter. They did not know what it was, but did their best to make it happen and it was great definitely will go back.

All the food including the salsa and queso was bland. We asked for napkins and we’re given 3 little thin flimsy napkins. The bathroom was not very clean and there were no paper towels.

POOR SERVICE!
So today my son and I were in town, and decided to go here after a funeral. I only ordered a margarita, which tasted watered down. I only tasted it; the glass was still full. The chips were greasy and the salsa was not as flavorful as we are used to. Using those as indicators to how the food would be, we decided to leave. We tell our server that we would like to go (offering to pay for the margarita). The woman scoffs and starts arguing about how she “has to pay for it now”. We then ask someone else to speak with the manager…..She was the manager.

Matehuala was great! My sister took me there for lunch for my birthday and it was wonderful! The food was so good and the service was better than any restaurant I've been to in a while.i will definitely go back in the future.

Ordered food to go. Got Talladega Steak tender, well cooked, and excellent. Ordered steak fajitas excellent. Chips, salsa, white cheese. Two adults ate well and enough left for one more meal. Fresh, flavorful, really good.

Can’t eat in there. The cleaner they use is SO STRONG. You can’t enjoy your food. Can’t even smell your food or taste it because of that cleaner. We won’t be back. Made me nauseous. Too bad. Don’t know how the food is. Because of that I’m guessing Fabulosa cleaner. It toooo strong

Hands down. The best Mexican restaurant ever I swear on my life. I'll put that on the Babylon. I'll put that on the human race. It's so freaking good. Try the tequila in the blue bottle thats my favorite.

Wow. Feeling compelled to warn people passing through Talladega this is NOT, by any stretch, a 4 star restaurant. This was the worst Mexican food we have ever had. Came on a Sunday around 2 because Broh's was unexpectedly closed. The chips and taco shells were fried in very old, borderline rancid oil. Inedible. The watered down "salsa", chalupa, rice, tacos were all devoid of flavor...no seasoning. The chalupa shell was inedible. On top of that, the restaurant itself was dirty, and needed many repairs. Hard to mess up Mexican food but beware, folks, drive on past this place.

I would rate 4 stars for food but 1 star for atmosphere. there was a TV from 1990 mounted on the wall that probably had 30 years of dust built up inside near where we were eating. Gross carpet and there was an employee moping it? Lol never seen that before.. great location in downtown talladega just in need of a renovation. If there was a way to put 1 star for interior and 4 star for food and service I would.

Would not recommend eating here. My orders are always incorrect and the food is of poor quality. I’ll continue to use the other local options. Just ordered two simple bean and cheese burritos for my babies today and they came out with onions and red sauce all over them. 🙄

The mixed drinks are horrible
When ask for it to be address, was told the ‘ per the sign outside no refunds on mixed drinks 🤦🏾‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️ And just walked away without even an attempt to make the customer happy
And with that the bill was dropped on the table

Me and my wife shared lunch here today and had a really great experience.The food was delicious.Service was professional. We ate our meal on the outside patio,which adds a clean touch to the restaurant. Definitely will be returning.

Very good. My burrito grande was special ordered and they did a fabulous job. The seasoning was tasty. My husband has a chicken quesadilla and he said the chicken was very tender. If we are back in Talladega, we would definitely return. Staff were also friendly.

$3 margaritas every Thursday, the restaurant is very clean, the staff is very friendly, and the food is great. I would reccomend this place to anyone who enjoys authentic Mexican cuisine, and good margaritas

I was just at the restaurant and ordered what they call street tacos... By far the absolute worst tacos I've ever eaten. A steak taco should not come with any kind of ground beef which is used as a filler. Not to mention if you are going to use a filler at least make it taste good. I ordered a bottle Michelob ultra which was not cold, I'll give them credit it was cool but not cold. I ordered some green salsa to go on my tacos before I tried them well I got up and walked out never seen it. So more or less I did pay for a meal that I did not even eat. The chips and salsa was awesome, I even ate extra chips and salsa to get the ground beef nasty taste out of my mouth.

Waitress was really nice and the prices were good, however the food was not. Chips were greasy, whoever made the guacamole didn't know how to make it. I ordered a fajita salad and it was more like a soup than a salad. Later after leaving my whole had stomach issues.

On a quiet Sunday afternoon... we stopped by to order takeout. The establishment was maybe a level above typical Mexican restaurant level, artfully decorated and well maintained, with an inviting bar centered in the area... looks like it would be a lively lunch or after work go-to for the local business/government crowd. The meal ordering and payment was efficient - due to current conditions, the employees were masked/gloved and observed safety precautions, and offered to deliver the items to our car advising a 10 minutes wait for 3 entrees. It was actually about 8 minutes 👍.
Very good experience, we've marked this cozy place for a return visit for hopefully a sit down meal in the near future😋
(We probably would have had a sit down down meal, if adult beverages were available in this city on Sundays 😪)

I don't understand why this place is rated so high. I ordered a chimichanga because I knew it was supposed to be big and I was very hungry. What I got was TINY. I basically got ONE small enchilada. It tasted okay but I left still hungry. The place also needs an upgrade. Not going back.
