Jalapeños Mexican Grill

So I decided to have a self care date at this location. It did not disappoint!!! I went during no peak hours and I was so happy I did. There were a few people here but not enough to overwhelm me. The waiter took care of me immediately and checked on me discreetly throughout my dining experience. The place was so clean and comfortable. The food was AMAZING and a great amount for the price. I had the fajita gumbo and all I can say is I cannot wait to treat myself again.

Ordering to go at this place you will be disappointed !! I ordered steak and chicken and some how a shrimp was in my food and (I’m highly allergic )!!! they could of killed me thank god I had Benadryl on hand‼️when going back you would think that would try to compensate me in someway only thing that was willing to do was remake my food and give me a (drink) to go!! This is not the only time I’ve had issues with this place they forget my tortillas when ordering to go everytime… I will not be back

The food was really good. The server was very forgetful. He kept forgetting to bring things to the table. However as we were leaving, we noticed he was waiting on other tables and trying to bar tend also. So, I guess he gets a pass on this trip.

First time here ! Food was okay !

And check your receipts !!’ Tried to charge my aunt $30 for nachos and a drink. And over charged me by $10 as well !

My family and I go here once a week but over the last few months the quality of service is always a coin toss. Some nights they are very understaffed and we end up forgotten for 30 minutes at a time or like tonight, we were rushed out after 21 minutes of being at the table. Our food not even half finished and no offer of refills on our drinks. The cashier over charged me $20 and argued when I pointed it out. They handed me back $20 in cash instead of refunding the card.

The food is always the same good quality but the staffing seems inconsistent and many employees seem to be very against the idea of dealing with customers.

My wife came in, all she wanted was steak, rice, and queso. Three attempts later, my wife’s order still has beans, lettuce, sour cream, and everything else she didn’t want.

How did they respond to this? Proceeding to talk badly about her in front of her. Sad. Still never got it right but she left defeated.

My most favorite to eat is cheese dip & chips. They were thick, hard & didn't taste fresh. I did enjoy my meal but was very disappointed with the chips. I would give the chips 1 star.

I visited here while in town to see family. The manager Vitelio was very rude to my family and I. I noticed on my receipt that I was overcharged and instead of helping, he told me I was wrong. We had three meals yet were charged for four. I brought the issue to his attention and he ignored me, he didn’t even look at my receipt just rudely told me I was incorrect. Safe to say I will not be back.

Orders were taken for food and drinks one of our guest didn't get a drink and it was her birthday. And once they brought it, it was not what she ordered. The food was 50/50 some of our food was good and some wasn't. Some was dry and not good.

I adore the Mexican dirty rice, the Cowboy Burrito, the hard shell tacos, and the flautas! My wife loves the Mexican chicken tacos and the beans. The chips are crispy, the salsa tends to be fresh, and the service is great. We frequent this establishment for lunch and dinner!

We went at 3 in the afternoon, so the lunch rush was finished. They weren't seating anyone outside because it was a slow time and I assumed under staffed. But we really wanted to sit on the patio (we're out doors people) and the hostess accommodated us with a smile. We made sure to tip her more than normal.
Such a nice breeze and beautiful weather to waste it inside.

This was a pretty normal Mexican place, but I feel like others in the area are better and cheaper.

We were waiting about 10 minutes before we got our chips and salsa, and the portions could have been a little bigger.

Love Jalapeños! The staff are friendly and the restaurant is clean (bathrooms were practically sparkling and smelled so fresh and clean!). I had the Dirty Rice from the lunch menu and it was absolutely delicious! So good that I stopped our waiter and told him how good it was! Will definitely be back!

i got a chicken quesadilla and had food poisoning just 5 hours later. the service wasn’t even good either. we had to switch sections because no one got our drink orders after 15 minutes. save your money and time. don’t go here

Not an average college town restaurant. Food was good and service was prompt, even on a busy Saturday evening. Plenty of tables and they accommodated our large group quickly. Food was hot and correct and their were good options for our kids to enjoy also.

We been going to Jalapeños for over 20 years, Last two times we went to the One on 216 service has been awful!! Our waiter was Julio, He took forever to wait on us, Never came back to check on our orders, Doesn’t care about his service!! Over charged for our drinks, waited 35 minutes for cheese dip, Chips were cold and hard, Among other things, 4 people $124.00 and I didn’t even order a bit of food!! We won’t never step foot in there again!!

Just avoid getting Augustine as a waiter!! Bad attitude!!! I had to literally ask the Hostess to get items my waiter failed to bring.. I even had to ask the Hostess to find out waiter to assist us. The restaurant only had a few customers so idk what the problem was. Then he tried to overcharge us for the meal.. smh

This is the second Mexican restaurant I have been to in Tuscaloosa, the first one I did not rate at the time. Jalapeños I was impressed with. I had the the spicy burrito and it was just spicy enough to not be overwhelming. Really enjoyed the experience and will be back again.

Stopped by Jalapeños today while we were in the area. It was our favorite Mexican place when we lived in Northport.

Service is always great! Seated quickly. Hot chips and fresh salsa were served immediately. Salsa was a medium consistency with a slight heat after bite. Cheese dip was warm and just the right thickness to hug your chip.

I ordered the Fajitas Gumbo and my wife the Fajitas salad.

Fajitas salad is a steak fajitas mix served over corn chips and lettuce, with cheese dip served over the top. Excellent flavor, good seasoning with plenty of steak and veggies.

Fajitas Gumbo is a bowl of goodness conjured up by angels in Mexican restaurant heaven!! It is a bowl of mixed fajitas with grilled chicken, grilled steak and grilled shrimp. Lots of veggies and covered with cheese dip, and topped with pico. It is served in a large bowl with spoon and warm flour tortillas. This has to be the BEST entree I have ever eaten at ANY Mexican restaurant!!!

Jalapeño also offers a variety of margarita flavors. My wife's favorite is the peach and mine is the frozen strawberry. They also offer a small size for those that want a margarita but might not want to worry about too much alcohol.

If your in Cottondale, Tuscaloosa or Northport, stop by a jalapeños location. You won't be disappointed.
