El Poblano Mexican Restaurant

This is the best Mexican food place in Vestavia… In my opinion, I meet with my networking group every Tuesday night there and everything is good. They also have healthy options. You can order steak with avocado and pico by itself and it’s very affordable under $10 the atmosphere is good we usuallydine and meet in the back area by the bar. The owner and all the staff are wonderful and very attentive.

Wasn't very busy when I stopped in on a whim but they were very quick to help me order & bring out my food. Super delicious. Highly recommend the chili relleno, one of my favorite Hispanic dishes & they did it well. Reasonable prices for the food.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. It is a great experience if you eat at the restaurant. However if you order a to go order they give you chips and a small container of salsa with your meal. If you order Cheese Dip they do not include any additional chips. If you ask they say there are chips in the bag. So disappointing.

The good, extremely fast service. Food was out in about 2 minutes and the margarita was good.
The bad. The Taste is very plain and generic, all of our food was plain and unseasoned and things tasted like they came out of a can. Disappointing food quality.

Such a poor to-go order experience. Ordered a large queso and paid extra for salsas because they will only give 2 tiny ones (even though we ordered 6 adult entrees). Put one tiny bag of chips in the bag to go with the queso and salsas. Also, got our chicken and cheese quesadillas wrong. Only gave us cheese & had to drive back because my toddler was upset with no chicken and to ask for more chips. They opened them up and put a little chicken on them didn’t make new and said we can give you a few more chips. Such a bummer we order from here all the time & it’s not ok they keep doing this. Hope they see this and will give the appropriate amount of chips? It makes no sense? Unlimited in restaurant? And barely any for take out?

Please consider families who don’t want to bring screaming toddlers in your establishment but still like chips to easy their queso & salsa!

I gotnl totally lost in the area becuase the roads are not very lit up. I pulled over and was looking for a place to eat. This place came up and I was extremely satisfied. Food was great and service time was quick. Prices were reasonable and parking was ample. I will return. I recommend the carne asada with corn tortillas.

I went in as i usually do at any mexican restaurant, sat down they brought chips and salsa. I cant eat alot due to stomach issues. I ordered one enchilada for $4 and a coke. She brought me my ticket they charged me $3 for chips and salsa. I didnt ask for it but they also didnt tell me I would be charged and just brought it to my table. Then want to sneak the price in afterwords very unprofessional. The food was decent but I've had better. I definitely will not come back due to bad communication . I paid $10 for this a snack they were very deceptive on how they charged for the chips and salsa.

I come here all the time it’s I normally have GREAT experiences. From the food to service it’s normal 5stars.. but today I had the worst experience by far! My server waited until we were almost done with our cheese to take our order. Short server DIDNT ID ME and He brought me back a margarita that was full of syrup and SALT I sent it back and asked for a remake and he made an annoyed face. I would have rather him ID me and bring me a REAL Margarita rather then make me a disgusting drink because he thought I was underage. Brought back the same drink full of SALT I just asked for it to be removed from my ticket. Quesadilla came out and it was sitting in oil/grease so bread was extremely soggy.. Short round server did not check on us at all, we were finish eating and he passed us about 3-4 times said NOTHING. After 15 of being done eating we just walked to the front to pay and he screamed CHECK at me in front of everyone as if we were not paying. He came to the front to watch us pay and I asked for a manager. He walked away and FLIPPED ME OFF TWO TIMES. I also say the manager smiling when he went to the back to talk his crap. I informed the manager that I saw her smiling laughing and she told me I didn’t have to pay. No apologies nothing. They will be reported. I can’t believe as a repeat customer I was treated like this by this server.

As far as Mexican restaurants go, this is a really good one. The salsa is good, the food is good and comes out fast, and the service is good. I've eaten here many times, and it's never been anything but good.

El Poblano is a nice local Mexican restaurant in the Rocky Ridge area of Vestavia Hills. The service was attentive and friendly from the greeting throughout the meal. The restaurant is well kept and spotless. The chips and salsa were good and plentiful. I had lunch fajitas. They were very good. The steak had a great flavor. I really enjoyed the meal. The price was very reasonable.

Service was superb. I have not seen anything better. Not once did I have to tap on the table and wait for the server to come. He kept my drink glass full or asked me if I would like a refill. Food was served hot. I would recommend at the end of the day.

The restaurant was nice and clean. The workers were nice and polite but didn't check on us much or refilled our drinks. Waited 15 minutes just to get to go boxes. The food was decent but no where near the price of the food!!

Food was good but prices are a bit concerning. Myself and a child ate and our bill was $50 for lunch. Charging an extra $3 for a item that wasn’t on the menu and then an extra $2 for jalapeños. Restaurant was clean and staff friendly but was completely taken off guard by the prices.

This review hurts. I came to El Pob very, very often growing up and thought it was the best. About 3 months ago I moved down the street and was severely disappointed with this place I loved. We have eaten in the restaurant a few times and it has been mediocre. We have gotten take out three times, and after the third bad experience, we are moving our business down the street to Los Rancheros. I hate to see a great restaurant go down hill. I hope their management improves and I would love to support them again!

Very sad. I have been coming here for over 13 years lately the prices have gone up and the amount and quality of the food has gone down. The cheese dip is $6 and you get one tiny basket of chips every basket of chips after is $4. This is ridiculous I will no longer be coming to this restaurant. Service is decent but the quality of food and quantity is not there at all for the prices you pay. I recommend going somewhere that does not do this to there customers and all they can say is sorry. No thanks we will not be back.

Our family often meets here for dinner as it has a fun and casual vibe. You always see friendly faces as servers and the food is tasty. I am a big fan of the steak and chicken fajitas, seafood tostada, chicken soup with avocado, and the flan for dessert.

My first and LAST visit I was denied ordering from the kids menu even after I showed the young lady my gastric bypass card. I've never ever been denied the kids menu!!!!! And after all said and done the waitress says if you would have called it in we could have done it.

Never leave a bad review... especially in these troubled times. They messed up our order. Put red sauce over everything, even though we did not ask. It was a curbside order. Wasn't until I got home and noticed. Called to see if we could get refunded. They told us to come back that week and they will fix the order for us. So I did... and they refused to give us a refund. I had the receipt and called out the hostess who took our order. All she said was that they don't do that with their tacos. No refund. Unacceptable.

Best and most reasonably priced Mexican restaurant in town. It is not fancy - just real Mexican food made by Mexican cooks. The menu is extensive and the service is fast and efficient if you are in a hurry. That said, families and friends are always welcome and never rushed to leave. We frequently see hispanics there eating lunch because they want a true taste of home. I highly recommend that you give it a try and become a regular.

I have enjoyed it very much. Unlike some Mexican places, you can eat the food and drink the water.
Most dishes are served mild and will not offend most palates. However, they can make it really spicy if that is your preference.
Moderately price, great job on the fresh appearance, and enjoyable.

We are regulars here and they never fail to impress. Cheese dip and salsa are always fresh, margaritas are always strong (always go top shelf...), and the food is always consistently great. This is the perfect no frills neighborhood Mexican restaurant. Pro tip - get the pollo loco (it will not disappoint)

Let me preface this by saying the food here is absolutely phenomenal and this is no slight against the chefs. But this is for the waitress who could barely take our order barely speak English and gave us our order incorrectly three times. This review is for ownership or managers the food is great but
I can’t come back an be seated with this lady ever again.

This place is absolutely horrible. The chips tasted stale. The salsa wasn’t much better in taste quality. I made the mistake of ordering a taco salad. The ground beef did not look like any ground beef I have ever seen. It was not seasoned at all. It had a few beans in the bottom of the shell. It was basically a bowl of lettuce with a few cubes of tomatoes. I couldn’t eat it. The waiter was fast. But he basically screams when he speaks. There is no way I would recommend this place. My husband and son ate their food, but they will eat anything.

Ok. The Poblano pepper was not properly peeled and de-seeded. The salsa was tasteless. The chips tasted a bit off and overall it was a sub-par experience. Truly one of those times we would have been better off to just ask for the check and leave the food untouched.
