This stuff is elevated and at a good price. Everything was 5/5 stars.

The ingredients were fresh and flavorful so they didn't have to use as much sugar and salt to hide it. The portions were quite good. The cooking was done just right. The recipes are very unique for Tex-Mex. The service was excellent. The prices are very reasonable.

I had a top-shelf margarita, enchiladas rellenos if I remember right (with juicy, flavorful pork!), the house salsa (which was pleasantly smoky) went with lighter chips that still held together well, and a chocolate chimichanga with clearly-house-made, very creamy vanilla-apple ice cream. This is on my restaurant short list now.

Great selection of traditional Mexican dishes, but better than the average Mexican restaurant. It's a step up. If you're really hungry try the Vulcan burrito. It's a big boy filled with chorizo and all kinds of goodness then topped with a skewer of grilled shrimp!

Stopped by for an early dinner. The drinks were tasty but a bit weak. I had the Burrito Real and it was good, but a bit salty. Had the Gran Nachos and they were really good. Loved the pork. My wife had the Chile Colorado and she really enjoyed it. Had the flan and the Choco Chimi for desert. They were excellent. Especially the Choco Chimi. I think it was a 4.5 star experience, but since that isn’t an option I’m ok with rounding up to a 5 👍 The staff was very nice as well. Best Mexican food I’ve had in The Birmingham area.

We came in here right before closing. The waitress was nice. The food was alright but nothing special. I got the Chile relleno and have had better. My boyfriend got the Volcan burrito and said it was very good. The burrito was also very big.

Very clean, prompt, polite! A lot of options for adults AND kids. It was nearly empty at 12:30 pm but I don’t know why because the food and service was AMAZING. Our 3 year old had a lot of options as well. Very reasonable prices too! I would highly recommend this place!!

I've gotten take out several times and this was the first time we've dined in. Restaurant was clean and well maintained. Staff is super friendly and attentive. Food has always been yummy and nice size portions. Margaritas as yummy!

Great food and large portions. Excellent spicy salsa. Waiters were great and attentive. Food was extremely fast. Only cons: there was an overwhelming smell of cleaner that was very unpleasant; and there is a lack of color and festive art, everything was gray.

Made a catering order. One pan of beef one of chicken. Rice and beans. New manager didn't call me till the day before and wanted to charge me 100 times what I had paid before. Wanted to charge me $386 for a pan of chicken. We will never order from here again or even eat here. We used to eat here every sunday.. Never again. We will find other accommodations.. Not going to be easy considering the event was tomorrow. Thanks for nothing.

Decent food in a somewhat empty restaurant. Ordered a dish with sour cream, asked for a little extra, charged $2. Paying $20 for a meal and then being charged extra for a small amount of sour cream seems absurd. Go somewhere that gives you that extra cream with your dish.

THESE PEOPLE ARE HEAVENSENT! I was stuck in a 2 hour fatal crash on the interstate & they literally stayed after closing & waited to give me my food. Good was delicious as always. 10/10

Unfortunately, not my favorite. Probably won't come back. There are a lot of options out there. The chips were good, and they were very attentive with keeping the baskets filled. But the menu has major errors, meaning just saying one thing and then the food arrived with different ingredients. Our server didn't understand our order, which we had to repeat multiple times. We received the wrong food and the desserts were just really awful, like thawed out Marie Calender's key lime pie stuffed into a fried tortilla, that was supposed to be "cheese cake" and Hersey kisses filled tortillas? It was unfortunate. I hate to leave a bad review, but it was not a good experience. We'll go back to our regular place.

We came in at 7:30pm the server never came back to the table to refill our drinks my hard tacos were doggie then we were over charged 30.87 on our ticket because one person in our group paid cash and the server put that in his pocket and added it to our ticket not recommended at all if you go pay attention!!!!

Very good street tacos! The Asada are some of my favorite in the area, and they come with a beans and ham soup-like dish that is delicious on the taco itself. The pollo and al pastor are average though.

My fiancé and I come here at least once a month. The food is amazing. The margaritas are worth having with your meal. If you have not tried this place and are wanting GOOD Mexican food, y’all need to try this place.

Food is excellent and fresh. Green sauce is the bomb! Salsa and chips are great, too. Owner is really friendly and attentive. Service was quick and done well. Atmosphere is modern and clean. More ambient music than traditional Mexican. Food is true to its origins.

Terrific, outstanding - delicious! The staff was excellent and kind to us. Got us extra napkins and a spoon for our kiddos. Then caught me at the door to hand me my phone I’d forgotten at the table. The food was hot and prompt. The food: Chile rellono - ya boy! Good cheese and not too much along with a smaller amount than most of batter so that the chile pepper was actually a flavor in the dish. The tostados were scrumptious for the kiddos with beef (and they left off toppings to the side that we asked). The steak fajitas melted in our mouths. Yes. Make a stop in here. Prices are good too. The way they made us feel welcome, that’s what we will remember :)

We have eaten here several times in the last 6 weeks and everything we have tried has been great. Wasn't able to try the beer because we were working. Will be back soon.

I love this place. They have a room in the back where a group of us meet regularly. The service is excellent and I love the food. I do wish however they would drop the Pepsi contract and get some Coke zero! But seriously, this is a great restaurant.

Grand Cantina is worth the trip. Easily accessible at the Acton Road exit on I-459. The owner and staff are dedicated to great service and delicious Mexican dishes. Nice place. Recommended.

I will never return to this place. Unfortunate because I live a quarter mile from this restaurant and enjoy unsweetened tea/ Pepsi from time to time 1)Almost $7 for a nonalcoholic drink and stale chips w/ salsa out of a jug from a big chain bulk store.
2) Tried to charge $13 for rotten unsweetened tea switched to Pepsi disputed the bill and the manager aggressively came out from the back pointing his finger in my face trying to control the conversation making accusations over a misunderstanding. Very inappropriate handling from management.

Great food and margaritas. Didn't wait long for any part of our order. The staff are friendly and I can see the boss, (owner) walking around talking to the guests, making sure everyone is satisfied. My sister brought me here, but I'd definitely come back. Saved location*

Food is decent, but the service needs a bit of a tune up on paying attention to all customers, plus got very frustrated that the hostess at the door couldn't be made to understand the item I was pointing to on the menu.

Just trying Grand Cantina for my first time. I had the al pastor street tacos that came with the best charro beans I've ever had. The meat in the tacos was tender and flavorful with an occasional bite of pineapple. My husband ordered the Grand Steak ribeye and shrimp entree. To our surprise, it was a thick cut ribeye cooked perfectly to temp. It was not your typical thin steak you normally get at a basic Mexican restaurant. The Horchata even tasted homemade. The food was plated nicely and we are overall impressed. Looking forward to trying more menu items on our next visit.

First time to eat at this unique Mexican restaurant. So clean and great atmosphere, not the standard kitchy theme but fresh and welcoming! Food is VERY good, chips thin and crispy, salsas are made fresh. Try the house margaritas! Prices were good as well. Friendly staff and the owner was interacting with all his guests. Finally! We found a Mexican restaurant to enjoy near 280 that checks all the boxes!

We read some good reviews on FB and gave it a try tonight. Welcomed right away by the owner, excellent server Elisa. Marguerita’s we wonderful. Queso and salsa have a little bit of a kick, just like want them. Very good food and atmosphere. This is going to be a great neighborhood place.

Food was great, manager was checking in after the meal, all great except the service. Our waitress constantly had to be asked for refills and chip refills. Other than that, nice atmosphere and everything.

We’re so glad we found this excellent restaurant. The food is delicious and fresh, the service is impeccable. The entire staff is friendly and courteous. Prices are very reasonable for such upscale dining. The decor is pleasant and sparkling clean. We will definitely return to this restaurant when we return to Birmingham. I had the Burrito Real which has steak and chorizo and it was absolutely delicious. The prices are reasonable, service was fast and the salsa was fresh. The staff were friendly and maintained a very clean seating area. This isn't your typical Mexican Restaurant. It's better.

We’ve had two great experiences here and they just opened! Already our new favorite - the margaritas are great, the beer is ice cold, and the food is much better/higher quality than most Mexican restaurants. Very kind and attentive staff. Highly recommend!

This place is absolutely fantastic. Very nice decor and very clean. The employees are over the top friendly and enjoyable. The food is delicious. This is our new go to Mexican restaurant. Can’t wait to try more on the menu. They have such a great selection. The margaritas aren’t too shabby either!!!

This is going to be a new favorite Mexican restaurant of mine in Birmingham.

The enchiladas suiza and the chile relleno was some of the best I've had!
