Jan. 04, 2024- The shrimp tacos, rice, and veggies were okay. I would have liked a little bit of flavor. Everyone else enjoyed their food. The service was great and our server was attentive.

Everything was delicious and the service was great. I'm sooo stuffed. Luckily we missed the rush , because they were super busy.

Mon.-02/20/2023-My food was delicious, I had a medium Caldo de Pollo. I would actually consider the portion a small not a medium. Hubby had the Quiso Picoso and he did not like it at all. The taste was mediocre and the Quiso was greasy. He was not satisfied with the portions as well, with that being said $18.95 was too much.
The staff and our waitress did a great job. They also have a nice bar.
I really love the music and vibe here👍

Great old, historic, Oak Cliff Mexican food. I do not live close anymore and just had my first trip back here in many years and loved every minute of it. I had the half order of chicken fajita nachos and it was a nice meal. Their salsa was better than most.

I have been coming to this building since it was a Barbecue place back in the 1960’s.
One of my earliest memories was lying in a bassinet lookup up at the brick column in the main dining room. (Although it was red brick with white mortar then)

I’ve probably been here 200 times over almost 60 years.

This, of course, makes me biased.

Long story short. El Ranchito has THE best and LARGEST Margaritas hot a measly $11 bucks.

Good is always f’n great. (Get the fajita nachos and take enough home for lunch the next day) Service is always great and the atmosphere is what you want every Mexican spot to be.

I am biased but I’m not wrong! 🇲🇽

Came to enjoy a family dinner and ordered my son a hamburger with cheese. He takes a few bites and doesn’t really want any. I try it and it’s ROTTEN, bad taste, bad smell. He’s 4 years old. I am very upset about this and worried now that he will develop a stomach virus or food poisoning. I will never return here. They took back the food and offered chicken tenders, at this point dinner was ruined. DONT COME HERE. I will be reaching out if we have to escalate and take him to the hospital.

This was our visit. I tell you one truth impression is Everything. Our server & service, food, and experience were wonderful, and I look forward to going back. But as we were leaving another's family experience was just the total opposite & they swore to Never to return. But, she was adamant that her ill treatment was from the same server/staff both times. The manager apologized. Buy, someone asked me if I thought he should have compt their meal?🤔🤔 Good question,
Not being messy, just asking. What would you have done?

We have been coming here for years, but today it was very sad. We ordered a parrillada and the fajita was bland, the chicken was really dry, and we ordered shrimp and they were pretty much burnt. Our rice and beans were very cold by the time we got it. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating, but this old traditional restaurant needs to start innovating. You can only live off your history so long before people stop coming and realize it’s not what it used to be.

Brought my dad here for his birthday because of the Mariachi and it did not disappoint! I had asked one of the servers if they could send the Mariachi directly to our table once they got there, and they did!

Anytime of the day! But evenings is where the music comes from outside to inside the venue.....live Mariachi music! And to your table for a fee or just listen to it when others pay instead..😁. Either way it's great to hear traditional Mexican music. Yes..they do requests as well. Highly recommend. Same ol TexMex that you'll find at any other texmex restaurant. I've been here three times within 20 years and they still have the same old decor. This place is just cluttered with deor and memorabilia and wiring. The live music is probably the only thing they got going for them in my opinion. There are now many other options up and down Jefferson blvd with authentic Mexican food. Not just texmex.

It's a Texas tradition in Oak Cliff. Whenever I have family from out of town come in, they always want to go there. The food is good but the Mariachis are excellent. $25 a song. We’ve eaten at the Oak Cliff location and it never disappoints. Fresh, hot, very good quality Mexican food with full portions and decent pricing.

Tip: their lunch specials are mostly $9.95 and it’s a full-size meal.

Their homemade lemonade and horchata are each some of the best I’ve had anywhere.

Service is on point and cook times have always been very fast.

Another tip: order a side of fresh tortillas so you can make soft tacos.

The food here is always good. Their sopapias are definitely a delicious dessert to order. I haven’t tried any of the others as I’ve ordered those each time I’ve been. Regular days it’s easy to get a table. Holidays I’d suggest to arrive at least an 30/45 minute before you are wanting to get seated.
Even with a wait time your food doesn’t take that long to get to your table.
If loud environments aren’t your thing avoid this place. Take out is always a good option.
It’s hard to find parking on holidays or during dinner rush.

Spent some time in Bishop Arts district today, and we were recommended to visit this restaurant. I am not familiar with the area, so it took a little effort to find the place. Parking was easy, but it was metered and cheap. We walked in and were seated immediately despite the fact that the parking lot was full and the restaurant was busy. First thing that I noticed was that the atmosphere was welcoming and felt authentic for a Mexican restaurant. Within a couple of minutes or less our waiter stopped by and took our drink order and then chips and salsa were on the table. Salsa was fresh and tasty. We spent a few extra minutes figuring out the menu because it was not like a standard TexMex menu and a lot of it was in Spanish. We ordered guacamole for a starter and it was good. Our entrees were the shrimp tacos and Birria tacos. Everything tasted great and more importantly it was hot (temperature). I really wanted to try the mole, but the regular menu did not have a dish that specifically called my name with the mole. I wanted to try their food as is. Next time I go, I will try to special order enchiladas and substitute tomatillo sauce for mole. I didn't even eat dinner tonight because I am still full for lunch. We really loved the atmosphere of the restaurant and the general vibe of the neighborhood. We will certainly visit again.

Traditional TexMex restaurant near downtown. Has a full menu of food and beverages you’d expect to find. Ambiance is what you would expect for old school TexMex place, including a mariachi band. Service was quick, efficient and attentive. We went for early dinner before catching a flight and the food came in a matter of minutes after ordering. The size of the steak and chicken portions for the combo fajitas for one was enormous. The meat was cooked perfectly, steak was tender. Overall it could have used a little more salt and lacked some heat (spice) we expected, but still tasted great. The rice had great flavor. Plenty of food for two of us. We’re TexMex snobs and this place didn’t disappoint us.
