Girasoles Mexican Food

We are so picky about our Mexican food. We're from California and are used to authentic not TexMex. I'm always disappointed when we leave Mexican restaurants so we make it at home. We decided to try this place that was suggested and it was pretty good. We will go back. The only drawback is the chips are like the tostada shells you buy in bags at Walmart and the beans have no flavor but the tortilla soup broth was very delicious. The rest of the food was good. We'd go back. The waitress was very friendly and the place was very clean.

Loved the sound of Mexican music playing and the delicious smells coming from the kitchen. Made me miss home. Finally found a place that knows how to cook Mexican food the way my family does. Got cheese enchiladas and beef taco with rice and beans....too yummy I didn't get photos ..😁oh and the small nachos with shredded beef were delicious. Sorry ate everything before I thought of a pic🤭

If you like flavorless food one step better than La Mess , then this is your place. Banquet style Mexican that laacked originality, seasoning, and flavor. Any foodie should see the exterior and correctly judge the food here. Absolutely mediocre. This review is from a former chef that specialized in ethnic cuisine and grew up in New Mexico. I know cuisine from Mexico.

I was not impressed. The food was mediocre at best, and the service and hospitality were seriously lacking. However, the most damning issue was the atmosphere, rather the obnoxiously loud party of diners that found it necessary to be so loud as to drown out polite conversation at nearby tables that people across from them had to speak at normal volume.
I understand restaurants are loud and diners can be loud, but this was beyond polite volume.
I most likely won't return for an encore of midgrade food, and lacking hospitality skills.

What a little hidden gem of a restaurant!! Tucked away off the side of Armstrong Ave. Is this "blink and you'll miss it" little Mexican food spot that you've just got to try! The friendly servers and the excellent food paired with the "you're always welcome here" vibe makes this little neighborhood restaurant a true treasure!! My date ordered the taco and Enchilada dinner and I had the chicken fajitas.. everything was so delicious!!

First time going here. The salsa was watered down, but the food was passable. I'm absolutely appalled by the fact that they dont seem to understand what "chili con carne" is...
The service needs to be stepped up a bit, and then I could justify a 4 or 5 star rating. However, the atmosphere was my overall determining factor for my less than stellar rating.
A party of 8 to 10 people came in and were astoundingly rude and obnoxiously loud. One of the parties was as loud as a cackling hen and wanted everyone, in and outside of the restaurant, to know that she found something quite amusing.
With the manager being a meek, and short woman, I am surprised this restaurant has been open as long as it has. The locals seem to run new patrons off.

Girasoles is one of my family’s favorite places! Food is always hot and fresh, service is always impeccable, pricing is great. Strongly recommend a frozen margarita and the bean, rice, and cheese burrito with queso.

Decided on takeout tonight and ordered fajitas....... worst fajitas I've ever had!!!! I mean who boils the fajita meat? No to mention the sour smell and taste!!! Called and told them and they were dumbfounded as could be!!!! My wife was grossed out as well. My cat wouldn't even taste it!!!! I used to be a fan of this place but BOILED SPOILED FAJITA MEAT??? CMON AMIGOS!!!!

Are waitress was fantastic very courteous and we were seated right away I had the combination plate cheese enchilada and tamale comes with refried beans and rice it was delicious the only thing that I don't give it a five-star rating is that they need to improve on their chips the chips tasted stale they did not taste like they were homemade the salsa was very good they just need better chips and I'll give Girasoles Mexican restaurant a five-star rating ✝️🇺🇸

Food was outstanding, wife had shrimp sautéed with butter, garlic, onion and cilantro. I had sour cream chicken enchilada and cheese enchilada with a crunchy beef taco. Both had rice and bean. Everything was delivered hot. Service was great. Definitely will come back.

Great service. My tostadada grande was the worst taco salad I have ever eaten. The letuce had just been washed but not dried and it was in huge pieces that watered the whole salad. Everything. Including the sour cream, guacamole, beans and meat were unregocnizable drowning in a bin a big wet soup. This was today for lunch

I ordered beef fajita nachos. The beef was chewy, but there was plenty of food. The salsa was runny and didn't have much flavor. The chips were stale. The waiter was very friendly and service was fast.

Ordered to go, the food was okay, nothing great. I left a $5 tip on the credit card slip, well my card was charged for a $10 tip. Not sure how it happened, but I made sure the bank gave me my money back. Make sure to keep your receipt, because they could be adding more money to their tip when you leave.

This is a delightful spot with excellent food. Our family loved every single thing we ordered, and the server was excellent. Best margarita I've ever had. The sauces on burritos were each delicious. I especially loved the smoky green sauce. Real queso. Just wow.

Extremely ‘stout’ and badly built waitress has a bad attitude and can’t tell real ids from a fake. Pro tip: if you’re going to be working in food service in which you serve alcohol maybe don’t have a nasty attitude, talking down to your customers and familiarize yourself with out of state IDs. It was clear before she saw the ID she didn’t believe my husband was over 21. Not sure what she would have said if I had ordered a drink with my in state ID (which usually I do but didn’t this time because I’m pregnant.) We went to Rustico and it was a much better experience and our server was actually polite and had no problem verifying his ID. Of course everyone has a right to refuse service and that’s fine but you lost two paying customers who tip well and live in the area and frequent Mexican restaurants and had been thinking about going to this specific restaurant for a little bit. Then she said “you aren’t going to stay” as if her disgusting attitude wasn’t more than enough to make us want to leave.
Edited to add- my husband is a veteran hence the out of state ID. So it’s always a nice experience denying the people who serve your country.

Just love this place! Tastes like true Mexican food here. We have met the owners, and they are amazing people too! So sweet and kind! Love coming here. Love the waitstaff and just the overall atmosphere. We brought a Christmas party here, and we're treated wonderful. You should definitely come in next time and see what their people, food, and inside atmosphere are like. Amazing!!!

I was disappointed in the chips, they were very brown and hard, hot sauce just didn't have flavor. Rice has a strange taste.
( unusual spice). Beans were . .good. Waitress was nice and spent time getting us what we needed. I am from Austin area and use to Tex-Mex that's awesome. This was eatable but just a different kind of taste.

The best thing offered here is their margaritas. Hands down the best thing you will ever try. I recommend to get one to better your meal because you will be disappointed in the quality and taste of the food. Not sure how this place stays open, probably worst “Mexican food” in Grayson county I’ve had.

This place can be good, really good. Usually I am underwhelmed by the refried beans here but yesterday they were great. The place is quite loud when full, especially when people bring the crying baby with young siblings, really would help if sound insulation was applied or some kind of sound absorbing things got placed on the walls. Drinks are good, bartender can even make a decent Kamikaze, prices are reasonable.
Warning, do not expect weak Margaritas!

1st time visit,great experience.Food was excellent.Due to this being my first time,I just went with something simple, a steak burrito.They have breakfast all day which is what I'm going to get on my next visit.Special note,,,,the refried beans and Mexican rice were delicious. The rice was fluffy and well seasoned with no fillers of peas and carrots.The beans tasted homemade.Finally,the margaritas were refreshing with freshly squeezed limes instead of sweet and sour mix which is what most restaurants use.I would definitely recommend this place over jalapeno tree

After 7 years in Texas I have finally found Mexican Cuisine that I love. Great service, atmosphere and great food. For the hungry man, I highly recommend the "Texas Burrito." I opted for it to be topped with green sauce in lieu cheese sauce and could had had it made to order which I didn't do. Filled with Carne Asada, Carnitas, Chicken, Beans, Rice, Guacamole, Sour Cream, Cheese and Pico de Gallo. A hearty meal weighing by my estimation to be in the range of about 4+ pounds of deliciousness. This gargantuan of a burrito is the best I have EVER had and Girasoles Mexican Food will become a regularly Restaurant for me in the future.

The food was good, usually when I go somewhere to eat, they say that the plates are hot, when in fact it's barely warm, but they ain't kidding here, burnt my fingers touching the plate, our waitress took very good care of us, best thing I seen being my first time there was the insane amount of food you get for the price and I do believe that they have the cheapest drinks around. Knocked one star off because of the salsa being severely hot(spice wise) and their cheese dip was very bland(at least to me) other than that the rest of the meal was amazing.

Lunch special was $6.99 for a burrito I added rice & beans alacart for .99¢.
The tortilla wrapped cheesecake was not that great. The cheesecake was fine but the tortilla was too chewy.

Everything was good. I had a Chille relleno and a taco, both were good. The rice and beans were exceptional. I could make a meal on just that. The salsa was good but started to get a little hot after awhile, the chips were good as well. Connie had Chicken enchiladas, she said they were very good, they did look good. It was very clean and the service was good. It took a little while because they were busy but the waitress was good to check on us and keep us informed. The prices were right in line with other mexican restaurants in the area. I would definitely recommend.

Wow!! Traveling from Wa state and wanted some good Mexican food, I can’t tell you how blown away I was. Girasoles is a full of flavor and so authentic. I got enchiladas and the sauce was like nothing I’ve ever had, they must use all the right spices and chills. My boyfriend got the chili Verda Burrito and he said it was amazing. I wish I could eat here again.

As new transplants from Southern California my wife and I are missing West Coast style Mexican food. The Tex-Mex food available in most of North Texas is good, just different. Girasoles seems to have a blend of both. The enchiladas rancheras are delicious and the service is great. My wife loved the chili relleno and the portions are generous. I would avoid the carnitas plate because it is actually cubes of deep fried pork rather than the roasted version that I am used to. Otherwise a great, casual Mexican restaurant for the family. And the margaritas are great also!
