The chips were really good, the fajitas were really good too. It was a big Portion, they should put some tofu for the vegetarian one. They were really busy and the decorations were very nice. The service was good and the food came out fast. It was very busy on a Thursday night.
They might want to offer Horchata or some fruit smoothies that are more healthy than soda
Maybe even some healthy juice, not the cheap concentrate store juice

Michael Levy and all of his staff at Desperado’s are absolutely wonderful. We probably eat there 3-4 times a month, and we have never been disappointed. From the TexMex entrees to the unique Desperado’s Tacos to their specialty dishes, you will experience a savory delight every time.

This was my second visit and I wanted to leave a review because the service is exceptional. I visited with a large group of 17 at lunch on Tuesday. We thought there was a reservation but there was not, but the staff quickly got us set up with a table for 20! During lunch time. We arrived before the lunch rush, but they did get busy while we were there. We were separate tickets with some parties of 2. They gave us plenty of time to look at the menu, and they kept our drinks refilled. Our orders were taken quickly and the food came out as fast as possible with such a large group and at lunch.

Everyone seemed to have gotten what they ordered, the food was hot, and it all came out at almost the same time, with the only delay being not able to put all the plates on one tray. I had the fish tacos, which is the Friday lunch special but you can order them any day or $1 upcharge, with rice only no beans. The tacos were served with cabbage and cilantro and a fresh lime
slice. The fish was one big piece of fish in each taco and was fried nicely. But it was a fairly large piece of fish and I would’ve liked more cabbage and hot sauce. I used salsa and they had tabasco, but jalapeños or something else would’ve enhanced the flavor. The rice was fine, but again, could’ve used more flavor. The puffed taco shells were good I heard, but the filling fell out after the first bite because of the shape. The guacamole tostada again could’ve been more flavorful maybe spice or garlic or salt or all of the above, just something more.

The checks came out quickly and were all
correct the first time around! Which again, for a large party was impressive. Checks were cleared quickly and we enjoyed our meal. The exceptional service and attentiveness of the whole staff made up for any issues with the food, we’ll be back for sure, and maybe try a margarita next time :)

I enjoyed this restaurant. The food was good. The atmosphere was nice but a little dark. It is located in a shopping center. So, parking was an issue. The restaurant is small; there was a little wait even though we came before 6. Also, we were seated in an awkward spot where people are coming in and out of the kitchen. Even so, my family enjoyed it and will consider coming back.

I came in today with a party of about 60 and when I tell you their care and speed were unmatched. Normally I’m sitting for an hour for food but not here. I would definitely come here again for parties and just all around good service

Terrible experience all around. We ordered queso bandito but were brought regular queso. Second time around the queso was lukewarm. We both ordered beef fajitas and they also came out lukewarm. The server admitted that they prepare them earlier and then just reheat them. She offered to microwave them. We’ve been coming here for over 10 years and it has really gone downhill. Management is pathetic. We did make them aware of the issues with kitchen and he took 30% off our bill which I think does not cover the bad experience. Lastly, they refuse to sit you in a booth even when the restaurant is empty. Regardless, we’re done with this establishment.

Since we eat here once a week you would think we like it and we do. Good TexMex selection plus they let you adjust the sides. We cut carbs down by not getting rice or beans for salad. They have margaritas on special Sunday but we skip that, others really like them plus they have gotten a wall of awards for them and the food.

Fantastic service. The food is not 5 star quality but it’s definitely worth every penny and if you’re looking for a family night out with the kids it’s a great place for that. The atmosphere and service is amazing and definitely a great spot to regularly take your wife and kids.

We eat here at least once a week, or order to pick up.The wait staff is always friendly and professional. Many of them have worked there a long time.
The food is always delicious and if there is a problem they will make it right. It’s the perfect local dinner place for family and friends; we always see other regular customers no matter when we come. Highly recommend!

Tried this restaurant again as friends like it. The service was good though they seated us next to a large family that was loud and distracting. I've never cared for the atmosphere nor the layout of the restaurant. The prices seem high and the food is just ok.

We had a small wedding luncheon there and from the start to finish, Tony Perez, assistant manager was awesome,. He was very professional, caring and considerate. He made sure that everything was taken care of and he was hands on the day of and stayed through the whole event.And the day of the luncheon his staff was extremely helpful and very professional as well. I recommend Desperados to everyone because. We are already planning to come back for another event.

Desperados is a staple here in garland and has been for many years! I like and appreciate the fact that they keep everything so clean and take the time to decorate!! Desparados is THE place for everyone for yummy texmex and traditional menu! There is a pleasing dish for everyone young and old any time of day! Bring your friends and family! Desparados is the only place I go with everyone in the Richardson area. Locally owned and managed, staff are extraordinary! Atmosphere fitting for families, work meet ups and for more meeting and mingling in the large bar area. I highly recommend weekend brunch!

I’ve been coming here for years and have so many memories from here! My favorite thing is a Desperado Taco and a Mexican Margarita! Oh, and their roasted salsa is the best! This place has one of my favorite meals in the Richardson-garland area! The pollo Santa Rosa is the star dish for me here with its roasted Pabloano garlic onion sauce! Service is always fantastic and I love their Mexican Martini. Two drinks in shaker! They also have really great happy hour deals, especially on Wednesdays and Sundays! Been coming here for years and can’t say enough good things about the place.

Food and service are good, prices compare to similar places. Had beef fajitas, they were good (Not tough and chewy like other places). Wife had Chicken-Itza which she enjoyed. Guacamole, queso and flan were good. The dining lighting was little dark, and the ramp from front entrance to tables was a little steep & not well lighted for my wife who uses a walker. Plan to go back soon.

We have been loyal customers for about 8 years. For the entire 8 years no matter how early we come on Wednesday, we can never get a booth. They have 12 booths but all 12 are always reserved even at 3 in the afternoon. I have a knee issue and cannot sit on a hard chair which makes it very difficult for me to sit long enough to eat

I’m sorry we chose to go on a Saturday night. We sat at the bar & had horrible service. We had to flag down the bartender for every single thing we needed. From drinks, to chips & salsa, & silverware. When our food order came out, it was cold. It also was not correct. By then we were “done” & wanted to leave. We paid our check & left.

They pour half an ounce less, 1oz, versus 1.5 Oz, than every other bar in the world. Do the math. 1 drinks, they scam you out of 33% of your drink bill. 2 drinks, 66%. This place needs new management. My advice, STOP TIPPING.

Standard TexMex. Better than average chips. Very mild salsa. Parking is a challenge lunchtime Sunday. No other
surprises, good or bad.

Delicious shrimp tacos. Much better than what you expect for Tex Mex in the burbs. They have a wonderful crispy flour tortilla and a good sauce on the shrimp.
The crab empanadas were good too. But next time I'd just get shrimp tacos.

It's a very suburban Texas Tex Mex place. The clientele isn't very hip. But the shrimp tacos are actually worth a try.

Good Mexican food for the price service is great, and their happy hour drinks are also good, and each time I have been there, it's a busy place

I recently relocated to TX and have been sampling many different restaurants. Desperado catered an event I attended and the food was decent, but I wanted to partake in the entire dining experience so I decided to treat myself to dinner for my birthday. I was a party of one and was seated immediately. The restaurant was fairly empty, and after a considerable amount of time the waitress finally came over to take my drink order, and I placed my food order.

The food arrived in reasonable time, but I never saw the waitress again after she took my order. After I finished my meal I waited another 30+ mins before someone came to see if they could remove my plate, at which time I asked for a takeout container. I waited an additional 15-20 mins until someone came and just left the check. Well, it would have been nice if I was offered the dessert menu or asked if I wanted anything else. Additionally, I needed to order takeout.

After more waiting I decided to go to the hostess. Being my first time there I wasn’t sure how things worked. I explained to her that the waitress never came back after taking my order, and that I wanted to add additional food to my bill. She began to retell the story in Spanish to a gentleman. I assumed he didn’t speak English because she spoke to him in Spanish. He just stood there looking at me for a moment as if he was waiting for me to say something, and then rudely asked (in English) if I was ready to order. I don’t know what that was all about. I’ve never experienced that before. The food was decent but the service was terrible. I wish I had chosen a different place for a birthday dinner. I won’t go back.

The food is awesome…..but….the flan! I’ve had flan from everywhere and they have the best friggin flan of ever!!! I sometimes think about it and smile and people wonder why I’m smiling….its because of their flan!

Poor service from the waiter when delivering the bill; they didn't ask if we wanted it or if we needed anything else, just threw the bill and got upset because it would be split when paying. The food was served cold, very poor attention overall
